Hare and Billett in Lewisham

A little disappointed that dessert came late at the point when we were about to leave (we did say we had very little time). We were charged for it. Food was good and the venue and ambiance are great.

Lovely pub good food friendly staff. We enjoyed a raditional roast dinner here. Porchetta was very tasty, and the unusual rhubarb sundae very good.

The Hare and Billet is a really well run local with high quality food, good choice of beers and really attentive staff. It’s also a very rare beast, an independent pub in London. Highly recommended.

A wonderful menu and program for Burns night, slightly diminished by their being overwhelmed. Service was slow. A warm and welcoming experience, however.

Fish & chips were amazing, my sticky toffee pudding was to die for however the chocolate marmalade pudding was dry & didn't expect the marmalade to be a blob on the top. Service excellent as always

Good service and location but the food is terrible! Probably the saddest looking and tasting croque monsieur I’ve ever seen. Overpriced pub food. Shame really. Also too noisy and full of screaming kids. Not a fun place to go at the weekends.

What a lovely atmosphere. The quiz last night was such fun with a lovely quizmaster who keeps everything flowing along just nicely. A great bunch of bar staff too. We are always made to feel welcome.

VERY busy pub on a Sunday due to their excellent roasts. Roast Chicken with all the trimmings was fantastic. Super dog friendly pub too, so ours was spoilt with treats and pets and very welcome!

The food was lovely service amazing, lovely pub. The only thing I would change would be to make the cherry Crumble more of an actual crumble but all the flavours were there, it was superb! Definitely will visit again.

We had a lovely experience at the Hare and Billet. We had a lovely round table to accommodate our family, baby and dog. The roast was a bit cold, but they gave us a free dessert at the end to make up for it which was very nice. We would recommend to friends and family!

We usually go to our local pub in Kidbrooke for our Christmas meal, but having been to The Hare and Billet on several occasions for an excellent Sunday roast, we thought we would give it a go this year and we were not disappointed. We pre-ordered our food from their set menu along with a couple of glasses of champagne. We felt welcome upon arrival and the table was ready. The champagne came out very promptly followed by starters which were delicious. The mains and desserts were also served promptly and tasted great. The chips we had ordered were a bit odd but didn’t detract from the overall experience. I really appreciate the service, which is always confident and direct, the guys know how to do their jobs properly and are up for a chat. Would recommend and will return.

Great food and service as usual - only knocked down a star because it was super hot in the restaurant to start with (heating too high - though eventually rectified) and the seabass dish could’ve done with a few extra spuds.

Was a fantastic meal and the service was absolutely great

We chose to sit in the bar to eat at lunch time. We had booked and they gave us a quiet corner seat which was ideal. We still had table service and didn’t need to order at the bar Staff were very efficient and friendly. Food was good we all enjoyed what we had ordered

Recently went to the Hare & Billet for a lovely roast, was excited to see they offer a vegan wellington roast as an option online. However was disappointed upon learning that it’s no longer an option and had been taken off the menu when we were getting our orders taken. Luckily we had a fantastic server, Nathaniel who went above and beyond to offer options so that I could still enjoy the roast that I’d be looking forward too with a few tweaks here and there. Ended up having a lovely meal regardless! Thank you, Nathaniel & chefs at the Hare & Billet!

Great service very nice staff. Menu looked good and some of the food pretty tasty but the bread with hummus was cold and hard like it was straight from the fridge. The pasta was hard (not al dente!) and was slightly stuck to the plate like it had been in the oven or under a hot plate.

Always a winner for me - and when you guest says ‘that’s a great burger’ the deal is sealed!!

Food always great, Sunday roast never disappoints, bar area was quite noisy as the pub was very busy. Next time we book on a Sunday we will reserve a table in the dining room.

We have eaten here as a family many times over the years and are usually really impressed. But yesterday the food fell VERY short. We had a roast with my daughter and I have beef roast. To say that the portion of meet was stingy in not an exaggeration. The adult portion has two tiny wafer thin slices of beef, that were essentially over cooked leather and my daughter potion had one tiny slice. We tried to get attention of staff to explain but by the time we did we were advised it was "too late" We asked for chips as my daughter was still hungry. To our surprise when we asked for the bill we had been charged full prices for everything - nothing taken off - For essentially 2 places of vegetables with gravy we paid £35!!! Appreciate prices have risen but this was stark contrast to previous experiences and we have a comparison to my husbands roast which was pork with ample meet??. Certainly something to be aware of as we left feeling unimpressed with 1) food, 2) prices and 3) how it was handled. Shame as this has been our go to for years.

Great first visit to H&B in 45 years! Superb Sunday lunch, great bar and really great friendly service. Our cairn terrier also approved and was rewarded for good pub dog behaviours with a few treats from our server

Lovely, welcoming pub overlooking Blackheath, with a varied and very tempting menu. Good value for money; the portions are generous, and the food delicious. Meant to ask how often they change the menu, as there were several other choices I was sorry to have to take a pass on – would like to know how soon I’ll need to be back! Service was very friendly, and attentive without being intrusive - and they weren’t at all thrown by our arriving early. Warm and cosy - had the day itself been chillier I would have pushed for a window table, as it would be an ideal place to watch the weather blustering across the heath. Was a little disappointed to find that my favourite rum had sold out the previous night and was still on back order, but luckily the weather was still clement enough to make an elderflower gin with cucumber a welcome alternative. Several large tables for Saturday lunch meant that noise levels were indeed ‘energetic’ – a little noisy perhaps, but there are worse sounds than those of people enjoying themselves. The proximity to Blackheath Village is good for transport links, and a post-prandial stroll around the independent shops – a great destination pub in a great destination. We’ll definitely return.

Sadly our experience was not great. We had phone ahead as we had a dog with us and were told we could bring her but would have to sit in the bar area rather than the restaurant area at the back ( which is quieter ) - which we accepted; but when we got there we saw two other groups who had dogs in the restaurant area ( they were not access dogs based on the harnesses/leads ) - so not a perfect start. Service was OK but they were rushed of their feed , so they need more bodies to cover tables. The food was disappointing to say the least - the F&Chips were good, veggie burgers fine but the fish curry and the chickpea and squash veggie dish was tiny , it would have been small for a starter. The very nice waitress compt it , so we weren’t charged which is appropriate but the point is we would rather have had what was requested. So all in all not great, at least the beer was good.

I was a little disappointed by my beef Sunday lunch. Normally the Hare & Billet serves excellent food but today was something of an off day. The beef roast was pretty bland, with not much taste to the gravy and I strongly suspect that the roast potatoes had been reheated from the previous week. You can often judge a roast by the quality of the spuds and on this occasion they were pretty grim. Services was good as always but I'm looking forward to better overall experience next time.

A lovely roast, very attentive service and pleasant venue. It was quite hot and I was disappointed with my pudding (pickled blackberries, I thought there'd be more than two) because it was so sweet.

The Hare and Billet is the place to go, staff is always super friendly and attentive. The new Monkfish Curry on the menu is amazing, they are also dog friendly and love children. Can’t wait to go back ! My son is autistic and the staff go above ❤️

Natalia and the team are always so warm and welcoming when we visit. We regularly drop by for lunch with my father who struggles with his mobility and Natalia, the team and fellow patrons are so generous with their kindness and understanding. First class service and the food is always a treat. Highly recommended!

Came here and had a great lunch, perfect if you're looking for a pub lunch that's a cut above the rest. Food is superb and is not normal pub grub. They've got a superb selection of beers and the staff are really friendly and helpful. I will definitely be returning soon!

Stop there for a dinner and have to say I was amaze by the service, it was fast and good. ordered some foods and it arrives within 5mins, even before finishing my drink. So happy with the service.

Foods are amazing, the main attraction are the deserts, so good. Lots of drink to choose from, high chance to find your favourite drink there as they have so many options. Lovely pub

Usually have a great time at The Hare and Billet. The staff are ALWAYS wonderful. Professional, fun and friendly. Sadly with an upcoming change of menu and a supplier issue, the food choices were so limited and I couldn’t find anything on the menu to keep my kids happy. Admittedly the bread and butter was gorgeous and we ended up ordering three lots!! But that doesn’t count towards a balanced meal! My suggestion would have been to have been completely upfront as to the dearth of options (no beef/steak/red meat options). The adult meals were good. Chicken Kyiv does need way more garlic but the garlic green beans were phenomenal. Vegan burger was passable but a little disappointing when the beef option had been so looked forward to. So ambience, service and banter all 10/10 but communication about limited menu options needed.

Absolutely perfect! Food was incredible (especially the sticky toffee pudding!) and the staff were also fantastic, the Hare & Billet never disappoints!

The pie was disappointing but the fish and chips was good. The raspberry tiramisu needs to come off the menu asap. It was foul and inedible.

Nice place, the restaurant area was lovely we had a little cove’s area to sit. Had a great lunch, the chicken liver pate profiterole’s were insane. Roast id give an 7/8 out of 10, beef was really tasty, but other elements lacked a bit of flavour. Roast potatoes good. Nice lunch.

Good location by the heath and great that allow dogs. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was good but temperature of the roasts was lukewarm. Nice wine selection and cocktail menu. Busy but not too noisy.

The waitress was pleasant but didn’t write our order down and when it arrived it was wrong. When we told her she said we should have swapped plates, but it still would have been wrong. The food looks nice but the only thing that had any taste was the bread sauce and it was cold. Won’t eat here again, shame because it’s a lovely pub

We have been before and the bread was under cooked. We thought to give it another try, the roast was so oily no taste to it. My partner had the burger it was over cooked and cold. Unfortunately we won’t be going back.

The food is always great quality here and it didn't siappoint. Sundays are always busy and lively so you don't come here for a quiet meal but the service was good and we had a lovely late afternoon meal.
