Hardy's in Reigate and Banstead

Had cod , chips and mushy peas. Very Tasty food , freshly cooked, hot and crunchy and delicious . reasonable price ..will be visiting again.

In recent years when coming out of London and heading South for home, this was always one of my places of choice because it used to be so good. I knew something was different when I observed an A board outside advertising pizza. On previous visits the owner and fryer was true master of his trade and I was never disappointed in producing a simple meal of fish and chips and didn’t diversify from his trade selling Pizza. New faces behind the counter and complete silence (Apart from me ordering) from all three behind. The fish was cooked fresh and I waited in stone cold silence for my dinner. Once back in the car I sat (as I have done) on numerous occasions and eagerly opened the bag. What greeted me was one of the worst fish & chip meals of my life. Let’s start with the fish, absolutely swimming in oil. I’m fortunate that the lady that served me put the meal in an old Tesco plastic bag. It saved both my clothes and my seats from oil staining. In breaking off a piece you couldn’t taste the fish because of the oil. My fingers were completely coated in the stuff every time I went in to the bag. I gave up on the fish and pushed it to the side and attempted to find the chips that were originally under the fish. Well Hardy’s at least you are consistent, as the chips were equally as bad as the fish. Undercooked, white and flaccid all stuck together and swimming in both their own, and the oil from the fish that once sat on top of them. There’s a waste bin a few shops down on the right and that’s where my three quarters full bag of inedible rubbish went. At this point I simply wanted to go home. I did consider going back inside and explaining but I was tired and just wanted to get home. I have mentally now crossed Hardy’s (Only in name) from one my stopping place in the future. Perhaps they cook a better Pizza……..

Disappointing- the food used to be great from here but it seems to have recently changed hands and now wants to be a pizza restaurant, not a chippy. Fish was ok but chips tough and chewy. Everything was jammed into a bag which was then impossible to get out without tipping the lot out and chucking it everywhere. Such a shame as this used to be the best chippy for miles.

Nice fish but twice now they break the fish to fit in the box for haddock and folded the plaice into a bag. Really ? Just get the right size box or bag please. Chips a little dried out normally but ok if you re- fry or eat immediately.

When you advertise yourself as a Fish and Chips restaurant, you cannot charge 10£ for fish only….. no chips!!!! What an absolute rip off!!! Never again will I order this terrible product

Ordered a delivery last night on Deliveroo at 7.15pm. Order was confirmed by Hardys and estimated order time 8.05pmm. After an hour I telephoned Hardys gave my address and the girl confirmed that my order was on the way and would be with me in 5 to 10 mins. A complete lie as again another call had to be made to Hardys address given again but this time the girl didn’t know where my order was!! It certainly hadn’t been cooked. I asked to cancel the order they advised I would have to take it up with Deliveroo. My husband tried but as far as they were concerned it was in process so therefore we couldn’t get a refund. We had to ask for our food to be cooked and sent out immediately which they eventually did and got our food at 9-20pm!,, Chips were soggy and undercooked. Never again will we use Hardys and such a shame as have been going here for the past 12 years. Also this isn’t the first time this has happened with them but didn’t complain the last time as thought it was a one off.

Felt like fresh chips and was close to asda so popped in. I had a saveloy and chips. Both were lovely, fresh and tasty! Would definitely go back there.

I went off this place some years ago but tried again today ordering by phone for a collection after the normal place was shut due to holidays. Haddock and chips twice was ready for collection when promised and lovely to eat. I see now in some other reviews the owner has recently changed and it's good all round so will be going again now I know.

Was worried when they recently changed hands, but so far, just as good as ever, crisp, tasty batter, perfect chips.

Having been visiting this chip shop for the last 11 years I have to say the new owner is doing a fantastic job of absolutely killing what used to be the best fish and chip shop in the local area . Now you get uncooked soggy battered fish , curry sauce that has no flavour and has been clearly watered down , the whole thing is so greasy it makes you feel sick . After the 1st of time of experiencing this we thought maybe it would be a one off , unfortunately not again another £22 completely wasted we should have thrown the money in the bin as that's where the food went . Certainly won't have a 3rd chance at getting it right . Bring back Ronnie !

Very clean, freshly cooked whilst you wait, couple of tables to eat, polite staff, fair prices, would recommend

Stoped off for a quick bite asked for large chips. For £3 didn't get a large chips so felt riped off looked more like a small chips. Would not recommend to any one will not use again

This is one of the best fish and chip shops I’ve ever visited. It’s clean, the staff are great and the food is spot on! Thoroughly recommend it!

Excellent fish and chips! ... not long to wait for fresh cooked fish and chips.. kids meals were good portions With choice of meals .. would definitely go back... very clean place with friendly staff.. recommend to friend and family... reminds me of old school fish and chips ... highly recommended from happy customers

Always good quality fish, however, could find yourself hungry afterwards as portions are small compared to most chip shops further into London. Also more expensive than most because of this. But what you get is well cooked.and tasty.

This little chipper has a great name locally, fish is cooked to order as are chips, delicious, pleasant staff, few tables available to est in. Recommend

There WERE 2 great fish and chip shops nearby.. Hardys and Seine Rigger at Nork. Sadly Hardys has dropped the ball and its now average at very best. on a friday there USED to be a queue of 10+ people waiting for fish and chips last night only me... Fish was greasy, chips were soggy and swimming in oil. All batter and little fish... Worse the staff are not what they used to be. They all seemed confused and they dont seem to listen to what you want... Seine Rigger is 5 mins away and thats where I shall be going in future unless these guys get there act back together!!! Sad really

Just been there had 2 Rock I large chips .The rock had more batter on than there was fish ! £6 .50 per rock Chips large but were for a normal potion.Would have taken back but got on way home from work so too far.Would not recommend to any one waste of my hard earned money !,

Every Saturday between 12 & 2pm Hardys cook Gluten Free Fish & Chips!! Best to phone first to make sure & order over the phone! Quality is great & good size portions .

Best fish and chips for miles, proper potatoes, not frozen even sized variety. Fish is skinned, makes all the difference. Recommend calling in your order as they make it all fresh to order, or you will have to wait while it cooks.

Always good prices always dear lol But you pay for good grub and you will enjoy it eating in a have never done looks small though

Never been disappointed with their fare. Well patronised - sometimes have to wait as all their fish cooked to order.

Tuve un auténtico capricho para pescado y patatas fritas, así que me paré aquí en el camino a casa desde el trabajo. Me sorprendió agradablemente. muy buen pescado y papas fritas. buena relación calidad-precio. Volveremos.

Seriamente buena y responsable productos pescado y papas fritas. Siempre que sea fresco para que así que prepárate para esperar un poco. Bien vale la pena. Uno de los mejores pescado y patatas fritas que he probado en mi vida. También tienen un restaurante pequeño,...
