Best fish and chip shop going. Staff are very friendly. A cash only establishment but they keep the costs down for the customers.

We have used The Harbour for over four years now and cannot find a finer chippy. Chips are great and the batter around the fish is not saturated in oil. The only draw-back is that they insist on payment by cash only. A card reader would be most convenient and probably go towards increasing thier trade further.

Great fish and chips, always crowded so popular. Their hours are limited, early closes and only open a few days a week. It can be disappointing if you drive there before knowing so be aware.

Went to purchase Fish and chips I got one cod and a large chips and it was enough for me and my mum . What I love d was they cooked the fish fresh whilst you wait so you know it is good. Really enjoyed the chips too. A great treat for us . Very good quality. Nice and friendly service .

Just moved to the area and nothing in the cupboards !!! Went to Harbour and super impressed with the welcome , service and Quality of Fish and Chips excellent. Top tip they only take cash !!! Well done to the owners will be back.

Really nice fish but our chips were really hard we couldn't eat them. 100 words to say how disappointed I was after paying £13 for two helpings of fish and chips to find the chips were obviously cooked the day before and warmed up, I don't know if they were served to me because they needed to get rid of them and they knew I was a stranger or I was just unlucky and got the remains of several batches. We arrived at the shop about seven in the evening and joined a queue of about six people so we expected perfect freshly cooked food as I'm sure they usually supply to their customers, but I can honestly say my wife and I were truly disappointed by the chips. I cannot fault the service or the pleasantness of the young lady that served me . It's just a shame we had to bin them as pensioners hate throwing expensive food items away.

I've been going to the Harbour for years and can honestly say the Fish and Chips have consistently been top quality! The fish is freshly cooked to order and the batter stays crispy! The chips are really tasty too, keep up the good work and consistency!

I have just moved to the area and tried out The Harbour after reading the reviews, I was not disappointed as the food was superb and just like was mentioned the portions were very generous. We will definitely use again as really great value and such a polite team.

Very good fish and chips really friendly ,cash only which is a bit different to what we have become used too . Unfortunately harbour fish and chips is only open at lunchtime on a Friday and Saturday although it is open in the evenings ,only allowed in the shop two at a time and sanitizer is available . Really enjoyed out meal

You need to go early , especially on a Friday night as it gets extremely busy. Service though is quick & you get your order very hot & freshly cooked. Very friendly service . Huge portions , so now only get 1 portion of chips to share with 2 cod & yummy curry sauce. Even with a smaller portion of chips our plates are full. The cod is always fresh , tasty with crispy batter. My favourite chippy . Not to extensive menu but enough to satisfy most tastes . They also have a drinks cabinet.

We haven't had fish and chips from a chippie for many years, but faced with a houseful of guests and no fish in the freezer we visited the Harbour F&C to help us out. What a fantastic surprise, very large pieces of fish, huge portions of chips (a large portion is adequate for two people we now understand), all freshly cooked, very reasonable prices and staff who are friendly and helpful. It's very popular so you may have to wait at peak times, but it's well worth it.

Visited for a fish and chips meal for two. The cod was great and chips good. Chip portions are large. Very busy but they have a good order and frying system which is quick. Good service.

Hugely popular fish shop providing excellent service for the town. The service is always friendly and the vast majority of items cooked fresh to order, can absolutely recomend the the fish and also the childrens cod bites for those with a smaller appetite.

First time I had been to the harbour for fish and chips!The fish is amazing light and fluffy batter and amazing taste - but it was more like a whale than a fish ! Curry sauce was the best I have ever tasted from a chippy

Great little chippy but watch out, only open till nine p.m. Good range of fish, well cooked, not too expensive. Park nearby in the Co-op car park.

Stopped off in Bassett on way home to Swindon, feeling peckish so we grabbed a large portion of chips from The Harbour. Had been told they were good, but wasn't prepared for just how good they were. Definitely the best chips I have ever tasted, so crispy but juicy at the same time. Very moreish!Will definitely visit again soon

They make very tasty fish and chips. The quantity of chips are massive so we now order 2 cod and one portion of chips which we find is just right. Very popular and would highly recommend.

Food is good, however not a massive menu if you don’t like fish. I tend to get my chips from here then pop over the road and get a burger from Oscars!

Great place for take out! COD was flaky and had great flavour. Portions were large for one person, well worth it!

Chips are cooked fresh so there is a little bit of a wait (it was quiet when I went and was waiting about 10 minutes), but it means the chips are beautiful and hot! Staff are lovely and food was spot on. Highly recommended!

Have stopped many a time for a cheeky portion of chips to share. And the harbour is a great find they are delicious, moorish and satisfying. Absolute gem of a chip shop.

Absolutely the best in Royal Wootton Bassett! If you want some decent fish n chips this is the place to go! The fish is cooked well, it just falls apart, delicious

Friendly staff and delicious food always tastes very fresh. These guys dont overdo it on the greasy side of things so the the chips and the fish are fantastic. Everything is very reasonably priced. What can I say,l? This place could give any chippy in the country a run for it's money. If they ever do takeout that would be a dream come true, but then, they are already busy. You will rarely, if ever see this place empty and people often queue up as the place opens.

The food here is excellent and it’s a favourite place for us to buy fish and chips. The fish is usually cooked to order and it’s a huge, whale-sized fillet that is cooked to perfection. The chips are good, perhaps a little pale but always tasty. I really loved the food here and will keep coming back for more!

Although the fish is freshly cooked, it is often small and overdone, with a batter which although technically should not be eaten, I would not recommend you eat anyway. Chips although nice, are only average, and too greasy, not nearly crisp enough.

Portions size are good enough for two to share, even the kids cod will feed two! Nice freshly cooked, usually have to wait for the fresh chips, but worth the wait.

We'd done a local circular walk and were tired and wet as it'd been raining. We weren't sure what to do for lunch and then my husband asked if there was a chippy in the area (we were on holiday).

Having lived in Bassett for nearly 30 years and seen this Fish & Chip shop change hands a few times, I can honestly say that the current owners have got it spot on. They have run this business for several years now and we use it at least once a month, so we have had many meals from there, the service has always been very good and the quality of the fish and chips consistently first class.

Visited on a Friday evening and it was heaving. It is probably the best chippy in Wootton Bassett hence the business. However, after the order was taken the fish and chips were ready in around 10 minutes.

The harbour is our regular chippy and we consistently have freshly cooked fish and chips. Its worth the hassle of waiting for 10 mins for fresh food. The team is friendly and always polite.

Extremely satisfying fish and chips. Freshly cooked and very popular so there is always a high turn over. Nothing worse than chips that have been left to sit in oil for hours. Never had a bad meal from here. They always get it spot on.

I've nothing bad to say about this place. Sure, it'd be nice if it could somehow serve really good fish and chips and yet not be so popular as to have queues out of the door whenever I go, but good things really do come to those who wait. Portion sizes are on the huge side; as an example, a couple of cod and a large portion of fish will easily feed a couple of hungry adults and two young kids. It comes to under a tenner, and it's pretty good fish and chips - crisp batter, good quality fish, nice chips, and really good value for money.

Early evening meal with cu friends. The food was freshly cooked after the order was taken. Initially there were only 2 customers before us but by the time our order had been freshly cooked the queue had grown considerably. When we get home the food was exquisite, as usual.Highly recommended.

I'm not a big 'fish-n-chipper', having them maybe 3-4 times a year if not less. Whenever I do have them, I come here.The food is cooked to order, tasting fresh and excellent each time. It's a bit more pricey for what is otherwise cheap eats and well worth it. The staff are friendly, the (relatively long) wait worth it and the food exactly what you expect. Perfect.

Simply excellent as the queues always bear out, fish cooked to order. The only slight criticism is that after a lot of cooking unsure if the oil is not up to temperature or if it is the consation in the foil bags as on these occasions The fish batter can go a bit soggy underneath.Great tasting fish and a good selection across the range

From a connoisseur in chippy chips. These are the best. Huge portion. I enjoyed the whole box. Fresh ingredients and freshly cooked. I will travel for miles to eat these. Local residents are very lucky.

I can't believe people can have negative things to say as the portions and quality are easily the best I have ever had. Originally the prices represented this but now I think they are probably cheaper than they need be. A lovely couple of brilliant food.

Recently tried this Fish & Chips for a Friday business lunch. Ordered 2 large Cod & chips between 4 of us and it was plenty! The portion sizes are massive and very nice! The Cod I found was perfectly cooked. Would definitely recommend! Couldn't fault it!

I find The Harbour Fish & Chip shop well below average!My partner (who will eat anything) often uses this shop for a quick dinner when we are too busy to cook.I do not like fish so I opt for something else.My partners fish batter is always undercooked, sloppy and running with grease! A portion chips, once you have sorted out all the very hard bits, is diminished to a very small handful.I ordered a curry sauce, what a joke that was!! it tasted like "pot noodle juice" !!! VILE !!I have decided not to have anything else from here after always being disappointed.

Excellent food of a high quality and quantity. You can order ahead to save the long wait for non-standard items to be cooked. Free parking right outside the premises, which is handy for bad weather.

The best fish and chips in town. Don't leave it too late on a Friday other wise they run out as they are so popular. Lovely friendly service and cheery smile for the regulars. Couldn't recommend enough.

Have a child's portion!!! The fish is massive ! At £3.70 for a haddock it's so worth it. You can share this but we ate one each. Therefore we left most of the chips. Curry sauce was excellent. Next time I'm going for gravy (northern lass). It's really great quality. Mushy peas, bread rolls and pickled eggs n onions. Every village needs one of these.

We were staying at a local hotel 3 mins drive away and we had takeaway cod and haddock and chips. Service prompt. Fish portions large, however the batter was quite soggy. Not a problem for me as I got eat batter, but husband didn't like the batter. Prices for portion size excellent. About £10.50 for 2 fish and 2 chips

We use the harbour on a regular basis and along with many of our friends and others, we believe this is the best locally available. The portions are very generous, and the fish is cooked perfectly, with nice crisp batter, and tasty fish. the mushy peas and curry sauce are worth the price as well.

Hadnt been for a while so thought id give it another try. the food is great, not greasy like most of the rest in town, good sized portion and cooked fresh. Will definitely be going back again THOMAS S

A great chippy the cod is out of this world and the chips are a close second.From work we treat ourselves every now and again and complete a 22mile round trip to visit here. Even with a 15min travel time the chips are still good enough to eat without being soggyAlways recommend it when asked

Based on the very positive TA reviews, i decided to try the fish and chips from the Harbour. There was quite a big early evening queue and it took nearly 10 minutes to get the food after ordering but at least it was freshly cooked and piping hot. Serving staff were pleasant and the portion size is very generous and prices are very reasonable.The chips were very tasty and good sized without too many scrappy pieces but the fish was a big disappointment.............or more precisely the fish batter, which was not fully cooked and very soggy. I'm not sure what caused this problem...whether the cooking oil was not hot enough....or the cooking time was inadequate...or the batter mix recipe needs to be modified. Whatever the reason, the large, soggy batter envelope was more akin to a pancake than a crispy batter that you would expect on fried fish. The fish itself was very fresh and tasted good and it is such a pity that the batter let the meal down,as it ticked all the other boxes.I hope the owner will address this issue and if so,he will truly sell some excellent fish and chips but at the moment I can only class the offering as adequate

The fish and chips are of a very good quality and portions are large. Frequently use during the weekends, and fish is cooked as you wait. The owner and wife are very hospitable and service is good. Waiting times vary with the size of demand. Very popular locally and highly recommended.

It was ok. Could be better. The large chips was not that large and the fish was oily. Had not been drained properly. We prefer another chip shop in RWB. Mr Lees at Woodshaw.

Consistently good. You might have to wait a few minutes for the food to be cooked, it is mostly done whilst you wait which is great because it means it's not sitting around for ages. Very popular with the locals.

Usually buy cod and chips. The portions are enormous well worth the money.As a change sometimes I have chicken but whatever I have chosen I have really enjoyed and have always thought it to be good value for money.I have found on Friday night its better to get there a bit early as the queue soon builds up. Everyone in Bassett and surrounding area certainly knows where to get the best fish and chips + for their money.

We have been getting our fish supper once a week from here for the last 3 years or so. Always get the same high standard of food an service. A large cod and chips is enough for the two of us. Beautiful fresh chunky cod and delicious chips. Once you go here you won't go anywhere else.
