Don't understand the bad reviews. Visited at 1330 when it was shutting at 1400. Could not be friendlier and food was wonderful. Big mugs of tea chunky sandwiches were like door stops. £20 for four of us. Would go back again.

Don't bother with this place, it's cheap basic food and outrageously priced. There's no view and the service is dreadful.

Say this quaint cafe and thought we would stop for lunch.. big mistake. Ordered a over price jacket potato and was nearly sick. Sent it back and to be fair they gave us our money back. My hubby got a pizza which was no better than a Tesco frozen one x the jam from the cream tea was vile. The teapots stained was nearly black inside. Tables looked like they had not been cleaned for weeks. The chairs was all rusty.. utterly shocked to see a place with such potential serve food like this.. you need to get your hygiene certificates.. it's a wonder they can get away with it in present covid times

The look from the outside is promising, leading you to believe you are about to enter a pleasant little cafe with that quaint Cornish charm. However, upon entering you will he met with vintage arcade machines, tired flooring and chipped dinnerware. What about their Covid precautions I hear you ask, well the toilets are closed, and that’s where they end. No hand sanitiser, no social distancing, no protective screens. The proprietor was quite happy weaving in and out of various couples have their conversations in the middle of the very little walkway through the middle of the cafe. Tables crammed together and cubes of sugar placed decoratively in a bowl In the middle of every table, no cross contamination concerns here! Then there is the food. Served on a fine selection of chipped dinnerware. There are parts of Normandy with less bomb craters than the plates. How did the food taste you ask? Ok. I had a pulled pork wrap, and the pulled pork was freshly pulled... out of a bag and plonked in a microwave. Ordered a side salad to complement the one that the wrap was served with and just got an identical salad, but this one was in a bowl (chipped of course) What about the cream tea? Surely they got that right, they claim they have the best cream tea in Cornwall, right on the big blackboard behind the counter. No. Absolutely no. The scones were opened from their pocketed slumber at some point today and served with that well known Cornish jam, Hartleys. The only Cornish thing about this cream tea is you’ll be eating it in Cornwall. They have a lovely smart uniform, I guess it was casual Thursday though as all of the staff that served us were wearing shorts and sandals. (It was raining by the way) They have an eclectic mix of vintage arcade machines, to keep you entertained, although we made our own fun in a game of spot the spiderweb free corner. We lost that game. But do not fear. The chef found the spider responsible, and screamed loudly so the entire cafe could hear that she’d found it, in the kitchen. What were the staff like you muse, well our waiter was a lad of maybe 11 or 12, child labour still present in here. And finally the cost of all this fun. We ordered two wraps, two side salads, two drinks and two cream teas for the extortionate amount of £40.00. Avoid this place like we’re to avoid Covid-19. Although I expect we will get that for free from here.

Rather curt owner. Little direction around covid arrangements apart from no menu. Incredibly small portions, particularly the soup, around 60mls. No cleaning witnessed. Not exactly rude but not at all welcoming. I get the impression they get lots of passing trade coming into village and really don't care.

A small cafe which serves overpriced basic cafe food. For example £8.95 for a filled jacket potato. Despite being in Mousehole/Newlyn/Penzance Crab was off the menu. The couple who own the cafe are in the wrong job, unfriendly, short and not much personality. There was a distinct shortage of chairs so you may have to wait a while to be seated. As for Covid, we were there for almost an hour and at no time was any table sanitised. All in all this is one cafe we will absolutely not be visiting again!

Absolutely awful. Never wrote a trip adviser yet never have we complained before. Paid over £8 for some cheese “nachos” to receive a bowl of the classic Doritos you get in shops, with shop brought sauce and quac. Tasted like a basic uni meal put together for £1.50 I ate it as I was hungry but my sister took it inside to the man and politely asked if she could change it to some chips or something as it was horrible. He refused rudely saying “but we haven’t done anything wrong” saying if she wanted something else she must pay for it. Then we heard him complaining about us to another worker as we left! I also asked for some tap water as it was a scorching hot day but he said if we wanted water we can only have paid bottle water along with our drinks. Everything was extremely overpriced and owner extremely rude to a polite young woman.

We went there on a 3 day trip to Cornwall, really wish we had not bothered. Waited ages for our food, when it finally arrived it was revolting. My 12 year old daughter was refused access to toilet, excuse given was vivid. Worse still when we got home to Nottingham by daughter told my wife that the owner actually touched her appropriately as we left. I'm furious.

First of all, the menu was extremely overpriced. One small slice of chocolate cake was £4.95. We were very surprised at the other prices too. Also, we asked for a glass of tap water, expecting for the owner to say yes, but instead he said a solid no and explained that they only sell bottled things, despite us also ordering a smoothie that wasn’t bottled and a cream tea that wasn’t bottled. I was very confused at this lame excuse. And finally, the toilets weren’t open. Their excuse for this was because of COVID, but all of the other toilets in other cafes that we had visited were open. I personally believe it is because they are too lazy to clean them. I was quite disgusted at our experience. Will not be visiting this cafe again.

We ended up here as the kids were hungry and there didn’t seem to be anywhere else you could sit down to eat nearby....I also had no signal on my phone in Mousehole so unfortunately could not google this place to check reviews before we decided on eating here. Goodness me do I wish I had as you can see from the reviews below there’s obviously been lots of similar experiences. Rather than ramble on Il give you the main points: We ordered a “large” Pizza for £12 It was not large by any stretch and was absolutely 100% store bought pizza...as a family I would say we were pizza experts :)...even on holiday £12 is a lot for a basic ‘plate sized’ pizza but I’m still fuming two days later that we were charged £12 for a store bought pizza and not even a nice one...if I could guess I would say it was a supermarket brand £2 frozen pizza and it was not nice even my 9yr old son who is forever hungry didn’t want to finish it. I was just horrified! We asked for tap water but were told because of Covid they aren’t allowed! I said it was for my 4year old who has many allergies so couldn’t drink anything else but still no! First place we’ve been to since lockdown that has refused to give us tap water...reading an earlier review about tap water below I would hazard a guess at this just being an excuse to sell more bottled water that was also extremely overpriced! What a scoundrel refusing tap water for children! Asked for the WiFi and was told only guests staying in their bnb were allowed the WiFi code! Wow...not the paying customer in their cafe then! We were sat outside along with 5 other family’s at different tables so could hear everything that was going on. While we were there the owner had an argument with the family across the patio for putting their tables together...he said it was because of Covid but the family explained they were a single family bubble... nevertheless he made them sit separately in two tables of two. One family next to us had cream teas which they commented were awful, again they looked very clearly shop bought to me and I now see this comment has been made below before. The family the other side of us left the majority of their pizzas and pasta and commented also that it was pretty bad quality, again even their small kids wouldn’t eat it. Also the toilets were shut...can you guess why? Yes because of Covid...again the only place so far that we have been to that are not letting customers use their toilets and just making the extra effort to clean them. Does my review sound judgy and inconsiderate considering the recent things business have to go through since lockdown? Maybe...but I actually don’t care...I feel the need to warn people to never go here...very unfriendly, unpleasant and poor quality establishment...all in all it’s not often I’m this upset but I really feel like they stole my money. I get it can be a bit hit and miss on holiday and when you’re under pressure to feed the kids quickly etc but this place was just dreadful, I literally don’t have one good thing to say about it. They are clearly just trying to make a quick(big) buck of the unsuspecting tourists and couldn’t care less about the service or quality of the food :(

Awful place. Read the other reviews that back up this review and then decide. Visited today with my wife and 2 kids who are 10 and 8. Ordered 2 cream teas and two got chocolates. The place smells damp and of dogs which isn’t great. They have arcade machines fitted around the place that my son asked to go on. We then asked the man behind the reception desk to change some money up for us and he have my son some 50p coins so he could go on machine. The machines don’t work properly as every time my son put a coin in he had to press a button for it to start that the man behind the counter showed him. After about 20 mins my son changed up some money with the lady who works here. The man behind the counter obviously wasn’t aware of this and then came over to our table and started to accuse my son who is 10 of having free goes on the machine . When I stated that he was paying for it then started saying he’s had 5 or 6 goes. We got up and left. As we left I again stated that my son had paid as I had given him the money, the man behind the counter then started saying I was watching him on the camera. The man who runs this establishment needs to have a good think about customer service, false accusations, and really if his life has got to the point where he is spying on 10 year old children. How sad and pathetic

Had 1 pasty and salad to share between 2 of us (hungry but have been gluttons so wanted to reign back on food consumption! ) They were more than happy for us to share (I asked for 2 sets of cutlery) and it was a fabulous pasty. Really wanted a crab sandwich but, despite it being early lunchtime, it was sold out so pasty was 2nd choice but, turned out to be a fab choice! Lovely salad garnish.

We ordered Pizza and two coffees no problem ! Until the wind blew our table and umbrella over almost hitting the neighbouring table with a loud crash of smashing plates, ,etc and food and coffee flying.everywhere. We were shocked . We were then ignored by the management no replacement coffees with hospitality .The opposite we we were expected to pay if we wanted another coffee. He blamed me for putting the umbrella up as a sun shield though the umbrella was set in a cast iron table and obviously placed there for use....... After the incident the family next to us also left as they were unhappy with the way we were treated,I m not one for writing reviews with a moan but in this case I must. Get it together folks!

We picked this cafe as it had seating outside. However on going in to look at what cakes were on offer we were told they don’t keep them out because of the heat. So I decided on a traditional Cornish cream tea. Big mistake. Dreadful scones, similar to a ‘value’ Tesco scone. Very pappy.

Stopped off before heading to mousehole port. Ordered two Pizzas and two jackets. Pizzas were gobbled down by our teenagers, loved the thin crusts and crunchy edges. Two jackets with fresh crab were great. Not cheap, but food was good quality. Quite like the retro game machines in there, a sideline for the manager. Worth a stop by. Manager was friendly to us, despite reading otherwise on below reviews..

Stumbled upon this place on a very wet day with our two little boys. Not a very welcoming place. No kids menu and when I asked if they could do a small portion for a 3 yr old and 1yr old I was met with “we only do what’s on the menu”. The food was average and definitely over priced. It was basically thrown on to the table with no greeting from the waitress. There are a lot of odd signs around which include one about not asking for free tap water as they are running a business and another which says don’t throw green paper down the toilet as the hand that cleans the blockage is the same hand which serve your food ?!??? Weird !!!We were made to feel very uncomfortable during our visit and we will definitely not be back. Ruined our short visit to a lovely village.

Stopped off here for a spot of lunch with my partner and nine month old baby. Asked for a high chair and as I picked the high chair up I got a distinct whif of body odor, put it down and wondered where it was coming from and realised the smell was actually coming from the highchair! We should have left immediately after this warning sign! They did not have half the things advertised on the menu, askes for a sandwhich for my baby and it came out on half stale bread in a thick cut. The cheese also had hair on it absolutely disgusting. My baked potatoe had not being baked but microwaved and was half raw. My partners piza's base was not cooked properly. All of this plus two hot drinks cost us £30.90!Absolute joke! First impression of Mousehole was this safe to say we will not be returning again.

Went in because the grandchildren wanted pizza! Strange set up, man on the reception desk took our order, a child of about 9 or 10 put our pizza on the table. Ordered pepperoni, the menu said something along the lines of extra pepperoni, this was not the case. It was just a cheese pizza with a hint of pepperoni.. Absolutely no service at all, we asked for mayonnaise & we’re given 3 sachets between 4 of us. When my granddaughter asked for more the man from reception needed to know exactly how many we wanted, made us feel quite uncomfortable even asking!

We stopped here for brunch on a warm day. We wanted to be able to sit out with sea views and the Harbour cafe delivers as, even though set back from the seafront up a side street, you get a nicely framed view of the harbour in the pleasant front garden. I had a crab sandwich which was perfect, very generous filling and unalderated, just pure white crab meat. Sandwiches and jacket potatoes come a small side salad. We also ordered a fruit smoothie to share but it was so good we had another. These are made with pure fruit, no sugar and are delicious. I am so glad I didn't read the earlier reviews as it could have put me off. My experience was that the owner and his young son were friendly and welcoming and I didn't see anything to suggest otherwise with other customers whilst we were there. It is not cheap but no more expensive than other cafes in the area and is very good value for the quality of food and drink we had.

Me and my wife went to have lunch at the Harbour Coffee & Cafe whilst waiting for a call from our BnB host. Happened that we both ran out of battery on our mobile phones. I kindly asked if we could charge one of our phones for 10min so that we can contact the BnB - the man serving us solidly refused saying this is not a place to charge phones, I serve food. Then I asked if we could at least make a phone call, he refused started shouting at us. If it wasn't for my wife asking me to leave it be, I was very close to becoming violent. Absolutely rude, overpriced and unhelpful. What a disgrace, this guy is letting down the good reputation of Mousehole and its usually warm and friendly people. Avoid this place!

Went in on the hottest day of the year with our 1 year old daughter and ordered two meals with tap water to be told "we don't do tap water" without any apology or explanation. Knowing Cornish water is possibly the cleanest in the country, I couldn't understand this. I asked a local shop owner if this was normal for Mousehole and I was told that this particular man is well known in the community for being this way; he once shouted at a group of elderly women who held a charity bake sale as they were "taking his business". Unbelievable.

I meet a friend here pretty regularly for coffee. The staff are always friendly and polite. The place is clean and tables cleared efficiently. It is has some Fairtrade items available which is always a plus point. It is a cafe in a large supermarket and, as such, does exactly what you want it to.

The area is stunning and so much could be made of this place but the food was revolting. We had just done a long drive and had not realised that most food is not readily available early in the week or after 2pm so went to the cafe hoping to get at least a snack and take in the views. The menu was very limited ,the staff did not seem to know what was available and were more concerned with sitting chatting outside. We ordered burger and chips and were eventually informed this was a veggie burger. Having gone through the limited choices we settled on chicken burgers. These turned out to be chicken goujons in a bun with some chips in a plastic take away container. There was no salad, relish or pickles and we were informed they had run out of mayo but might be some if I searched through the other sachets which were just inside the door.. There was no cutlery ,no serviettes and I had originally ordered cheese for the beef burger but did not get a refund or any alternative offered. This disgusting meal cost just under £30 !!! As we left the staff were sitting out in the sun chatting with friends and one lady was eating ice cream from one of the big metal containers usually used for freezer storage. Health and safety? Trading standards? This place could be fantastic given the views and location but this might have been the worst meal we have ever eaten and price wise very poor value for money. We recommend that you avoid this place at all costs.
