The restaurant in the hotels dining room. Its fairly small seating up to 50 people I would say, but with a lot of single travellers sitting alone the tables get taken up. I ordered the rib eye steak which was reasonably priced at £17.50, though the steak itself was cooked well, it was half as thick as I would expect in a good steak place. Given the choice of driving into Canterbury or eating here, I don't think staying in is a bad choice. There are enough choices on the menu to suit all including a kids menu.

Outstanding. The service from the waitress Alison too was spot on. Be coming back soon. Nice cosy atmosphere with warmth from the fire.

As part of a motorway services stop about 3 miles outside the centre of Canterbury, this hotel is only suited to those with a car, as bus services are a 20min walk away. Having said that, car parking is free, rooms are comfortable & the self-serve breakfast is adequate (limited cereal & scrambled egg/sausages, no bacon, no other egg options). Free in-room wifi, but of limited bandwidth. Apart from it's remoteness, the only other drawback is the noise from the motorway. If you are a light sleeper, request a room at the rear of the hotel away from the motorway. To get to Canterbury, we found the best option was to drive to Wincheap Park & Ride (about 30mins). £3 to leave your car there with return bus travel for all occupants - a bargain. Last bus 7.30pm though.

We recently stayed at the holiday inn express canterbury. The hotel is on a main road very noisy no airconditioning no lift Had to have window open at night so extremely noisy . Water temperature in shower ran from hot to cold, thin holey towel would not recommend this hotel to anyone 1/10

A good budget hotel. The staff are its best asset, pleasant and helpful. We ate in the first night and it was surprisingly good. Breakfast has a good selection, though not top quality ingredients, they even had soya milk and it was more than adequate. The booking agent booked a disabled access room, which had doors to the next room. Not good with a loud family next door we couldn't hear the TV! The next night it was quiet. Not the hotel staff's fault. Clean rooms with all the basics. Great for a visit to Canterbury.

Very much a standard Holiday Inn Express - you know what you are going to get. Comfortable bed. Nice shower room. Breakfast was a bit limited - not really a selection of cold foods (cheeses and meats) - just a bit of cheddar shrink wrapped on plastic. No bacon in the hot food. I am told the scrambled egg was particularly good.

Situated on the motorway. The entrance to the hotel however was a bit tricky, as its behind the service station, and not too well sign posted. service was really good and the reception staff helped us to book our successive stay in London. The food was good too!

Visited following seeing advertising in local paper. We were well satisfied with the food on offer and the price charged. There were poppadoms, lime pickle, mango chutney, riata, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, an accompanyment with cauliflower and another with aubergine. In the hot cabinet there was naan bread, pilau rice, chicken curry and a vegetable curry which was slightly hotter. To finish with there was a selection of gateaux and fresh fruit salad. You could truly eat as much as you liked. Having previously been to an award winning Indian Restaurant in another part of the country, we were not disappointed.

Just a very average meal with no restaurant feeling. Tables unset, order at bar, give table number and sit and wait. No table service for drinks. Similar to pub service, but 3 times the price!

We stay here at least 2 times a year on route to France.. It is always necessary to book... On line booking works very well.. They have a good choice of breakfast foods and drinks and recently.. They have introduced a bar menu.. Which is not a la carte but if you have driven a long way is always a welcome option .. The rooms are always spotlessly clean and the hotel has won many!! Tourist awards English and foreign for its hospitality etc.a very well run hotel .. Does what it says on the can....which is probably the reason why it is well advised to always reserve a room

No surprises here - if you wanted gourmet you wouldn't choose a HI Express. But if you're looking for fast and not too pricey - this is handy...if you're staying here you also don't have to worry about drinking and driving!

It was a Curry night when we used this dining room. I do no like curry and the set menu was not very inspiring. A salad bar or buffet would have been more useful. I am told the curry was very good.

Arrived late and although restaurant was still open, decided to order from main menu but take food to room. Ordered a couple of pizza and they were filing and a decent if not spectacular quality.

We had dinner in the restaurant, as we were staying in the hotel. It was marvellous. The chef is wonderful. The food was tasty, and stayed hot throughout the whole meal. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff or the chef. The kitchen had closed by the time I wanted my dessert, but the chef still very happily prepared it for me, and delivered the most wonderful home made creme brulee to our table, complete with a smile.

On Friday nights they do a Curry Night which includes a dessert. This is very popular at £9.95 for the two courses and you help yourself. We had salmon and a dessert which was slightly more but it was very good

We were not traveling, but local, and after being let down by another restaurant last year, decided to try the Holiday Inn. As a family party of seventeen including young children, for the second year running we have enjoyed the wonderful Christmas lunch offered here, and are so glad we changed. There is no comparison. The intricate food was marvelously displayed and delicious, the service and attention to detail excellent, with copious balloons and hats and poppers and a lovely father Christmas giving presents to the youngsters. The staff took lots of photos. With such great value for money and fantastic service, we are definitely booking again next year. Management and staff were excellent and a credit to the Company. Well done!

Great place to eat. I come there every time I go to Canterbury and I'm never disappointed, the welcome, the service, the location, the cuisine, but also the price everything is very good. You have nothing to envy of certain restaurants on the outskirts of the city, which call themselves gastronomic, your cuisine is much better. Congratulations to the chef. Don't hesitate to stop by, you won't be disappointed

Super expensive with miserable staff. First time I have visited in a few years and noticed no longer used by locals, probably can't afford it. No ambience or character left, so disappointed.

Since Adrian retired and Andy and Clive left, the cafe (and showroom), have gone seriously downhill, £2 for a cup of Nescafe!!! only one or two customers, there is no atmosphere, or banter in the cafe or showroom, it's more or less been turned into a car showroom, i.e. only interested in closing deals, "goodbye, next! I don't think it will be long before it's closed!

Great menu, plenty of choice. Enjoyed three stunning started, so filling that could not manage all of the main course - which was also tasty. Good wine range and everything great value for money. Not too busy so able to catch up with friends. Have always had a positive experience here
