I last used Happy Wok before COVID-19 and I have to say it wasn't very good. The food quality was poor, so I moved on to another takeaway. However, I decided to give it another try in 2024, and Oh boy what a difference! The food and delivery service are excellent! I don't know what has happened since 2020? But it has now become my favourite! Every different dish we have ordered so far has been yummy! I would certainly recommend it....

Placed an order with this takeaway on justeat. When I received my order it was missing some items (a bag of chips and curry sauce). We rang the takeaway, and the woman on the phone was very rude, basically accused us of lying and that we needed to double check, she then said it would be a 45 minute wait for them to be delivered so then we offered to drive down and collect (we shouldn’t of had to). When I turned up the same lady again accused me of lying, displayed rude behaviour/body language, was very blunt and patronising, then proceeded to throw the bag of chips on the counter with a smirk and walked into the back. Do not order from here, staff don’t care!

I can say with all honesty this was the worst takeaway I have ever had the misfortune of eating. The veggie spring rolls were mushy and simy inside, the chicken sweet and sour was tepid on arrival and watery and the rice was Luke warm. The only thing that tasted good was th prawn cracker and you can't exactly mess them up could you now. Never again! Save your money folks I think 1 star is actually too generous. 🤢🤮🤮🤮

Got a takeaway from here last night. Literally just boiled beef in a watered down sauce with coconut oil. No rice with it, doesn't say in description if it comes or not so didn't order as don't like waisting food. It costs 30p a standard portion cost price so very tight on that. Wonton just frozen and only have have filling mostly just wrapper and a bottle sauce.

We placed an order and it was ready, hot & tasty within good time. Really enjoyed the meal which was good value for money.

Myself and my husband were violently ill within 30 minutes of eating from here. I'd go as far as saying we had food poisoning, which has been reported to York Council. I have never felt as ill as the 48 hours I spent in bed with vomiting, diarrhoea, headache and dizziness, to the point of collapsing, when I tried to stand up. We'd eaten from here a couple of times previously. The food was average, probably one of the better tasting in York, but we certainly will not be risking eating from here again 👎

1st time ordering, won’t be the last! Ordered for collection, ready bang on time. Very tasty, my wife especially enjoyed the chicken chow mein (one of the nicest she’s had!) Couldn’t fault any of it, really enjoyed all of our order! Thank you! 👍😋

Ordered sweet and sour chicken the sauce is so runny and thin like water what’s happened

Food was absolutely disgusting! Delivered cold! Chips were like cardboard Special Chow mein was 99.9% noodles 1 prawn, 1 piece of pork, 2 pieces of chicken, 1 mushroom Special fried rice was half portion then more noodles in same container. Both dishes were certainly not special. Called to complain and promised a refund. Not received anything. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Best Chinese in York by far! Beancurd in satay sauce and egg fried rice to die for! The most delicious food I've ever tasted. Staff very kind and accomodating of special requests. Food very cheap and large portions full of flavour. Best Chinese I've ever tasted!

Received half my order, was stone cold when it came!! Rang up for the bloke to say I'll send the rest of your order out now! To which we never received! I'm glad to be fair though as the food was terrible!! Avoid people, seriously avoid!!

Ordered the meal for 1 ... you get the starter (prawn toast, crab claw, spare rib etc) you can choose your main ,which I chose beef in black bean sauce & you get the rice which has tons of stuff in it ,pork,chicken etc, arrived nice & hot ...all together it was a lovely meal & shall definitely be ordering again

Rice cold and inedible, Wantons tasted off, Prawns ok but not warm enough Pork rubbery and luke warm. Really disappointed as came to over £30

Ordered beef and vegetables, the beef was unedible We also ordered spare ribs which again were so chewey we were unable to eat those also . The mushrooms where so black and bitter we didn't eat those either. Rang them up and they said we use and cook the same food all the time then put the phone down . £21.00 for the bin . NEVER AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!

Ordered happy wok on just eat, mushroom rice and orange chicken. The orange chicken is actually one of the worst things I've ever placed in my mouth. The sauce was sour and pungent and had hue of brown within the sauce. The chicken itself was battered awfully and soggy, not worth the money. Mushroom rice was edible.

Ordered at 20.00.had to ring an hour later to see where my food was.arrived at21.25 food was only warn just .part of the order was missing.had to ring again.very dissatisfied 😒

45mins late. Web menu- prawn curry, actually a 'special,', beef, pork n chicken. No prawn. Phoned up, told i was wrong, and actually had 2 prawns in. It didnt. Duck dish, very soggy, chips cold. Waste of £20+, wont use again.

The sweet-and-sour is more sweet than sour and some of the vegetables were a tad underseasoned. Spring rolls were a bit empty but fried dough is still good after all. Service was very fast and friendly. Overall good.

Turned up hour and half later women wrote wrong address for delivery bloke so had to phone me then it turned up part of order missing women on phone arguing with me food was cold used them every week but never order again.

Said the order would be 45 minutes then after 1 hour and 20 minutes it turned up and it wasnt the order i placed..never again

Ordered shredden chicken with salt & pepper. It was so heavily overcooked the chicken had turned to crisp as if there was no meat inside to the point where I might as well have left French fries in the oven for 2 hours & had them instead, & with the same consistency. I called up to complain and see if we could choose another dish or get a refund where I was told it is their 'style' of cooking making sure it's extra crispy (& apparently inedible) & that's how most customers enjoy it. Refund was not doable & if we wanted something else we'd have to drive to the shop & order something which considering we ordered delivery and had a drink with our meal is impossible. I've added photos where you can see the chicken has just shriveled & dried up to nothingness. Poor food with customer service to match. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

After trying 4/5 around York, this place is by far the best Chinese we’ve found. It usually takes about an hour for delivery but well worth the wait.

Barely ok, the prawns in the Singapore fried rice were completely transparent and the special curry was bright orange plus the chips were missed off the order. Won’t be rushing back.

Ordered a takeaway, they forgot 2 meals equating to approx £9. Disbelieved me when I phoned to tell them. Eventually agreed to deliver missing items, but never turned up with them! DO NOT USE, ROBBERS!!

Got my order wrong and refused to refund my order. We asked god two different special fried rice dishes and they sent the exact two dishes. Chicken chow mein was greasy and really floppy. The chicken was grey in colour. Please avoid

The chicken was dry and the fried rice was boiled and bland and chicken had some wired in edible orange bits in it really off putting as well

Ordered food at 19:20... turned up at 22:00 hrs no appology. Tried ringing them several times with no answer... terrible service

Spoke to me in a rude manner when I sent my husband to the shop for the money noodles wasn't even eatable because they were that dry and salty the person on the phone was extremely rude to my husband would not recommend this place at all

Absolutely horrendous customer service! Sent me the wrong food and had the nerve of telling me that i was wrong and put the phone down on me. To add to this the prawn i paid for were missing. Would not be ordering ever again.

Abit expensive but gorgeous food

Food arrived over two hours after order was made. On arrival food was cold and items were missing. Management very unhelpful and refused to acknowledge their errors. Avoid at all costs!

Do not go here simple been waiting an hour for food still not arrived pissed off isn't a word

2 portions of salt and chilli chips cant really go wrong can you? WRONG. Should have just stopped off at sainsburuy for some potatoes and added a little seasoning. 2 portions 80% hard/undercooked.

I ordered and collected at this place so I cannot comment on speed or service quality when it comes to delivery. When you go in to order, the staff are helpful. The shop is very run down and dirty however. The food itself is mediocre at best. Half of the spicy crispy duck dish was fat rather than actual duck - very disappointed and ended up throwing most of it away.

Out of this world. My mind was blown into another dimension. How can mere human beings construct such a master class in cuisine. I've called six family members tonight describing my Happy Wok experience, "sensational" I branded it. "Something that comes around once in a lifetime". A great majority of my night has been spent etching my emotions onto page after page of passionate literature. These will be issued to my associate for publication on the 28th of this month. Upon finishing the last bite of my egg fried rice, a lone tear rolled down my face leaving a salty trail of nostalgia in its wake. "By God" I whispered into the last of the salt and pepper chips, "Who were you besides an angel of mercy, giving a two-time loser like me the night of his life?"

Okay delivery times, with tasty food that is good value for money

Order turned up after nearly 2 hours after i rang and cancelled it due to it taking forever . When i called for explanation was told to wait another 20 mins on two occasions i dont think so . No apology or refund. Rubbish customer service and pure joke . Will not order again

Avoid. Delivers cold food and takes over a hour to replace. And good luck finding any Duck if you order it ours was 90% fat.
