Happy Wok in York

Great food, the chips were lovely and the Chow Mein had plenty of meat and veg. Gave us free prawn crackers also. No complaints here.

Good main dishes - but the order wasn't processed properly at all - set menu for ONE advertised to come with FRIED RICE, did not arrive when delivered. Also ordered 2x 1.5L Coca Cola, only received one bottle.

Food was absolutely disgusting! Delivered cold! Chips were like cardboard Special Chow mein was 99.9% noodles 1 prawn, 1 piece of pork, 2 pieces of chicken, 1 mushroom Special fried rice was half portion then more noodles in same container. Both dishes were certainly not special. Called to complain and promised a refund. Not received anything and just eat are impossible to get hold of. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

We love their food and order from them often. They sometimes chuck in free spring rolls and prawn crackers too!! Very tasty chicken chow mein and definitely best Chinese in York, highly recommend!

I’ve ordered from here a lot but tonight the food was not great. first time it has been bad, so didn’t feel like I got my chinese fix this time. Dumplings were like they came fresh out of the freezer and the salt and pepper items were lacking in flavour this time :(

food was over an hour late and when arrived order was wrong and food was freezing cold we couldn’t even eat half of it after waiting that long! every time we called the restaurant they were unhelpful saying hey had been calling us which they hadn’t and they said every time it would be 2 minutes for it then to be an hour late in total! when we called the restaurant towards the end and the delivery driver we didn’t get through and we were refused a refund for the cold wrong order!?

Best Chinese in York. We order every Saturday night and never have any issues. Food always piping hot and everything there. Delivery driver is a great also. 5☆

Free prawn crackers missing, food cold. Salt and pepper crispy king prawns nice texture but too salty to eat. Won't be ordering from here again. 90 mins from ordering to delivery

Food enjoyed by myself and my daughter. Asked for 19:00 delivery but delivered at 19:15. Notified of this shortly after ordering so absolutely understandable for a Saturday Night. Food quality was excellent, just a shame we couldn't manage it all!

food was really tasty but delivery was slow. we ordered enough food for 10 people which I appreciate was a lot but took over an hour and a half to arrive which was 20mins after they said it would arrive.

Tried for the first time this evening as my usual Chinese restaurant is closed on Monday, the happy wok will now become my usual Chinese restaurant, absolutely gorgeous will wonderful fresh ingredients. Delivery driver was extremely pleasant also .

Truly awful chicken curry, meat was tough & tasteless - 1st ever bad meal from the Happy Wok but it was bad enough that I will seek somewhere else next time - Really disappointed

ordered at 7, told it would come at 8. it’s now 8:30 and we rang them to ask where it is and their response was “we forgot, we will put the food on now”. Really really poor, the food has still not come and no refund or discount offered!

Waiting time was an hour, food came but forgot an item. Rang restraunt and the customer service was very poor, the person was very rude and hung up on me. Got item evenutally and the meal was ok as most went cold

Food was ok, could have been more flavorsome. One item was missed but the restaurant were happy to re-deliver. The delivery man was really pleasant, amazing service.

We have used this place regularly over the last few years but never again. Food quality last few times has been very poor. Tonight it was awful. I actually binned the seaweed and the pancake rolls were a mushed mess in the bag. We were missing a sweet and sour sauce from our order and when we rang we were told they can't come back just for that! Never mind the fact that we have paid for it! Well happy wok...you can keep the £1.50 for the sauce and loose our £30 that we spend on every order we make.

We placed an order for nine people and we were disappointed that none of the items were labelled properly - they were just labelled with initials, which meant very little to us when we were trying to decide who’s meal belonged to who. We had ordered a number of portions of battered sweet and sour prawns, pork and chicken, which all look very similar. We’re not sure whether one person’s order was completely missed out, or whether we were meant to work out which was which and decide the portions we had between everyone. We won’t be ordering from Happy Wok again.

Food was nice but items were wrong and missing. Also after ordering, the delivery time was put back by 25 mins and even then it arrived 15 minutes later. But all in all a nice meal.

The Salt and pepper kings prawns tasted like an entire salt pot had been poured onto them and the deep fried prawn dumplings were soggy - very poor food quality

The restaurant added 20 minutes to an already long hour wait, i appreciated it was a saturday so wasnt too upset but then it was 15 minutes late and had to call the restaurant to find out where it was, when it arrived i was missing the prawn crackers and then when i started eating realised the chicken balls were pink in the middle! I called to complain but would only refund the chicken balls even though i couldn't eat any of my meal after finding undercooked chicken. If i was sat in a restaurant i wouldn't have paid. Appauling cusotmer service!

Yum! The battered pork balls were sensational... fresh, crispy and generally extremely YUM. The Chow Mein was home-cooked - smokey and tasty.

Chicken curry was lovely. Delivery time was extended but they still came 10 mins early with great food. I've ordered from here a few times and highly recommend.

Food took an hour and 20 mins to arrive when the estimate was 45 mins-1hr The delivery driver was very slow so my food had to be reheated when I got it. I was given the wrong food which was a little bit annoying too. The food was really tasty, so would order again all things considered.

Very good shredded chilli beef. Good barbecue rib. Good, not tough, meat in special curry. Early. Most Just eat orders arrive earlier than the restaurants designate. Not complaining- just wish they all could be a little more candidly accurate?

Really good and delivered unexpectedly early

We ordered special chow mein, crispy chilli chicken and prawn dumplings. The chow mein sauce was very tasty and the meat was lovely and tender. The chicken was perfectly crisp, loads of it and the sauce was delicious too. Food also arrived early so top marks all round!!

After ordering food from here last night, I would recommend that no one orders from here, I certainly won’t be again, the food was 20minutes late and on inspection of my special fried balls they were petrified and couldn’t bite into them. I phoned to complain she just tried saying thats how they were meant to be, unfortunately I can’t eat rocks! No offer to replace them or refund, told me the manager would get in touch that night, they never did, absolutely shocking customer service! I recommend you try somewhere else!

Friendly delivery driver. Food was early. Food was delicious! Had sweet & sour chicken, crispy chilli beef, chicken satay & prawn toast plus rice & chips. it was all amazing, can’t fault it!

Food was late. clearly reheated. and they forgot the curry sauce? then had to wait a further 15 mins which means the food was then cold. not impressed.

as always, really great duck and sides! asked for delivery at around 6:15 and they added 5 mins, which is fine, but then arrived at 6! because I was in it wasn’t a problem but could have seen this being an issue if, for instance, I organised it to arrive by the time I got home if I was out.

From ordering to receiving was over 2 hrs, just not good enough. Finally got it an hour over delivery time and was barely warm. The food is great but makes you think twice before ordering. This is not the first time.

The delivery guy was rude and kept banging on the door without stopping, I’ve got kids in the house and don’t need to be woken up by that. At least give people a few minutes to get to the door. Also the rice was horrible and chips were old and hard. Shame really as this is usually the best Chinese in york

worst Chinese I’ve had in York. thought I’d give it a try with the good reviews. however the delivery took over 1hr and 40 minutes... food came warmish. Tasted greasy and lacking flavour. will not be ordering again 👎🏼

Have ordered from here a few times before, usually with the delivery time not being too great and a bit hit and miss with the food. However they seem to have completely redeemed themselves :) Lovely hot food, great portions and came very early. Extremely happy!

Where do i start... the food came almost 30 minutes and was barely even warm. They got the order wrong and then didnt have much interest in rectifying their mistake. We were told they would give us a free meal next order because the manager wasnt there to authorize a refund, problem being we will not be ordering from here again so what good is a free meal?! In short horribly average food with poor service

Incredibly poor service. They give a delivery time they fail to meet, then take their phone off the hook so you can't contact them to see what's going on. What's the point in that? Very disappointing and she was surprised when I turned up in person to complain too. Do not get anything delivered by this lot.

From placing my order to receiving it was 2 and a half hours. How does that even happen? An hour late and when it arrived was the wrong food. I ordered duck chow mien and received beef. Food was Luke warm not great quality. not happy and won’t be ordering from there again.

we ordered our Chinese for 830pm, we allowed a bit of time for the bad weather although the roads were pretty clear. 915pm it arrived. the chips were dry as if they had been sat waiting. the main meal was ok but not hot. there was no apology from the delivery driver or explaining why it was 45 mins late.

saying the food was delivered ‘late’ was an understatement since it never actually arrived. To make things better we rang the restaurant multiple times with no answer. we thought this may be due to business, however we got through one time and the restaurant obviously realised they had picked up the phone and put it straight back down again. absolutely appalled with this service which is a shame because we’ve had it once before and the food is lovely - when you actually get it.

I never normally leave reviews but the food was exceptional! The ribs fell apart in our mouths, the pork was tender and the crispy chicken was amazing! we will not be ordering from any other Chinese in future! cannot thank the restaurant enough for pulling out all the stops EVEN in the snow they delivered on time and their driver was very polite and friendly.

Yes the food was late but it was the worst snow we've had in years....the driver was apologetic bless him.....the food was definately worth the wait...it was still hot despite the -5 temp and delicious....well done!!
