Happy Days in Tunbridge Wells

This restaurant uses Just Eat as its agent. I ordered a £60 meal on a quiet Thursday night. I had 3 calls from a female over a 90 minute period to say that the food would arrive within 10 minutes. It never arrived. At the time of the last call it was nearly 2 hours overdue. There is no excuse for rank incompetence. Thank you also to Just Eat for their reckless recruitment of sloppy restaurants.

Barely edible! I’m sorry to say that this is the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. It was absolutely swimming in grease, it was bland, the ribs were so chewy I couldn’t eat them, the prawn toast was just so soggy as were the chicken balls. There was no sweet-and-sour sauce with them. I just don’t know how they could get it this wrong. They told us they would deliver by 7:30 pm but finally turned up at nearly 8:15 pm and it wasn’t cheap.

Awful. Keep giving chance after chance and every time they mess it up. Delivered to wrong house and tried giving us food that had been delivered to someone else. Next time half cold and stuff missing

We have used this takeaway many times. The food has been good but is getting poor. The service for a takeaway delivery is not very good. We ordered T 16:55 for a delivery at 19:30. By 19:50 the delivery had not arrived so I called the. The reply I got was “ we are very busy it will be another 20-30 minutes. We gave them 2.5 hours notice, how much time do they need?. As we had paid I had no option but to wait. Not very pleased. We will not be using them again

I was PURPOSEFULLLY short changed here. I was given £5 change back instead of £10. I confronted they woman and said "how much was the order?". She then looked guilty and said "oh I forgot to include the 10% discount"! She then gave me the £10 I originally should have got. (NOTE: She should have given me more than £5 change even if she didn't include the discount, so she definitely tried to short change me.)

Food is generally good and warm when it arrives but unfortunately the last two times we have ordered, the delivery has been extremely late (more than an hour on both occasions). Shame as it is tasty but, with young, hungry kids, we have to look elsewhere for a local Chinese delivery.

Visiting relatives and all 7 of us had ordered dishes from here .Food looked really appetising, Sweet and sour dishes ,chow mean spring rolls lemon chicken ,curries and many other dishes were all very tasty .Excellent

Chicken balls over cooked, beef chow mein and beef in black bean sauce undercooked, gloopy noodles. Have ordered before never had a problem but tonight was appaling. Sweet and sour Hong Kong style was chewy and could feel the oil on everything

Spent the weekend at Finchcocks oast, this was the local takeaway, we made 3 orders £200 , food was amazing, arrived hot and on time , friendly over the phone, would definitely recommend

Order a Chinese to be delivered, waited for over and hour and half for it to arrive. When it did arrive all food on the bottom was cold, when called to complain was full of excuses. Avoid at all costs.

Have been using Happy days for years and it is always great and on time and always friendly. The latest owners have improved it and the food has never tasted so good :)

Used Happy Days for a long time. Often very nice food which is why I’ve stayed loyal for so long but sadly appalling service over this last couple of years. Food is often very late and sometimes cold. Often an hour after agreed delivery time no matter how early you order. Stopped using due to this unreliability but thought I’d give Happy Days another try tonight. Currently 3 hours since order and just been told it will be at least another half hour, which will be close to two hours after delivery time, if indeed, it arrives in another half hour. Evening ruined. Everyone hungry. Now too late to eat for some of us. Eldest has now had to go out without dinner. Lied to by customer service saying I didn’t choose a delivery time and hung up on when told I have the agreed time in the confirmation email. Rude, dishonest, greedy and completely unacceptable. If busy then stop taking orders, don’t grab money and then not meet obligation and ruin customers evenings. Will never use again. Cannot recommend anything other than to avoid. Edited to add. Now another 35 minutes on and still no food. Now another half hour has passed and once again been hung up on. Will be reporting to trading standards. Recommend all others who have had their evening ruined by Happy Days do the same. Food eventually turned up after we were in bed. Delivery driver reported to police for his dangerous driving and intimidating and threatening behaviour to wife. Kent Police ref 31-1203 for anyone who has also had problems with him.

Very impressed with both the speed of delivery and quality of food ordered. Plus huge portions. Everyone happy and plenty left over for a top up next day.

Absolutely terrible don't wast your money ,the last two times we ordered they got it wrong when complained they were very rude and it was very cold because it took 1 and half hours to get here sorry but would never order from there again

Absolutely terrible. Quoted 45mins for a delivery it took 2 hours then turns freezing cold. The delivery driver told me he had 5 drops in the area and I was last on the list. The chicken was sloppy and chewy, the sweet and sour sauce had a skin/layer on top where it was that cold. When speaking to the restaurant they said the driver was new and didn’t know the way. Complete lie as I have had that driver before 2 months ago. Put the whole lot in the bin, and thinking of chucking my wheelie bin through the window of the shop. Avoid this place at all cost Complete and utter jank

The food came within 15 minutes of ordering, I'm sure it was even less than that. The delivery driver was really friendly, food was piping hot and delicious. Not sure where all the bad press comes from, I ordered at 7pm on a Friday night and had this level of brilliant service. And the food was delicious, if I haven't mentioned that already. One of the best Chinese takeaways I've ordered from.

Service is dreadful waited 2 hours 30 minutes,after being told hour to hour half, rung after hour and half and they hadn't even cooked it! Very dissatisfied and disappointed!

This place is about ad much use as a ash tray on a motor bike. Said it would be about one and a half hours , rang after two hours and was told they had forgotten us, still wanting after two and a half hours .avoid this place ,would be quicker to walk to China.

Order from here every week, always delicious hot and tasty food, exactly what you would expect/want. Friendly delivery drivers, sometimes longer wait as its so popular but always worth it. Love it!!!

After a 2 hour wait for a delivery order, we phoned to find out what was happening. We got an angry lady who kept us on hold for almost ten minutes before asking us to collect it ourselves with no apology or explanation.The food was fine but I can’t recommend the place, unfortunately.

This is the 3rd time we've order from them... and you may ask why... ease.. but omg they have the worst delivery service I have ever and I mean ever experienced. They are please to take your money on the phone, but every time they do the food is never delivered on time, or with the correct food order. Whilst staying nearby with family, we decided to have a treat for our last night there. What a treat it was! We were able to collect within half an hour, and everything was nice and hot, with decent sized portions and overall, delicious!! Very impressed and will definitely return when next in the area.

Ordered a chicken curry and some noodles, the chicken was a little bit chewy. However, when I cut through a bit of chicken I had a large pink bit in the middle. I then cut through the rest of the chicken and they were also very slightly pink but not as bad. After this it certainly put me and my boyfriend off our food.

When we ordered was told 90mins, 3hrs later food arrived cold after chasing twice and being lied to. Wasnt great food at all. There are far better Chinese takeaways in the area, please avoid.

Had a take away from happy day's. Ordered beef in black bean sause, house special curry, chicken balls and x2 house special fried rice. What we got Chicken ball's that must of been cooked last month, dry and disgusting. X2 cartons of rice with x2 peas and a prawn in each that cost £7.40 each Beef and curry were fine Telephoned to complain very argumentative person on phone who eventually agreed to reimburse £10 Won't be using again.

As a former resident of pembury I used to order from here frequently. Now having moved just outside the area I ordered again. Well I am disgusted. Ordered at 6.08pm at 8pm was told food was nearly cooked when we chased and would be with us in half hour, at 8.30 received a call and was told they are really busy and did we want to cancel. We said no as told nearly ready and would be on next delivery within half hour. She seemed surprised at this. "Really?" was the expression used. Fast forward to 9.20pm when we are told after chasing yet again. It is cooking and will be another half hour. They then put the phone down. We called back and cancelled.... absolutely disgusting service. Completely understand in this climate they are busy but 3 hours 10 mins later and various degrees of cooking when called is clearly not acceptable. What makes it worse is MJ parents ordered food 30-45 minutes after we did ( they lived in the immediate locality) and received and was eating theirs by 8.40pm !!!!!!! I have never felt so badly mistreated by a restaurant before !!

Got this on Sunday night, really enjoyed the food. All the food was of a great quality and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Can't speak for anyone else but I had a great experience ordering and eating from here, if it is as good as Sunday I'll be ordering from here everytime.

Decided to treat the family for a Chinese before Christmas. Carefully picked out menu so my son could eat before his 7pm bed time. Ordered the food through an app at 4:45pm expecting maybe a 40 minutes until delivery. I called at 5:51pm asking where the order was, to be told they had a driver in at 5:30 and one starting at 6. My order would be with the 6pm driver so about 20 minutes until I got my order. I called again at 6:26 explaining I still hadn’t got it. I said if delivery not with me in 10 minutes then I’d turn the driver away. I turned him away. Driver said a road was closed. It wasn’t as I went out later to drive the probable route. (Sad I know) An absolute disguising delivery service. Why open at 4:30 when your FIRST delivery driver doesn’t start until 5:30. Bad business and horrific management. My wife says I was too nice, and maybe I was because I was so looking forward to it. I’ll never be using them again.

Several family members ordered a Chinese take away. Various dishes were ordered including mine of pancake /spring roll, sweet and sour pork chicken chow mein. All looked good apart from chips which were pale and tasteless. Overall though the dishes which we shared were tasty!

We have been using Happy Days for years and years. They have clearly bitten off more than they can chew over recent months. We order for collection only and the taste and quality is inconsistent. Tonight I had a very small order (4 dishes and a sauce). I had ordered a different dish as my usual had been pretty poor on the last 2 occasions. One of the owners took the phone from the lady serving me and told me I couldn’t have one of my dishes as the kitchen was too busy but I could have it next time!!!! What a joke, can they guarantee they’ll be less busy next time I call?? I was annoyed but accepted it. Waited 40 mins to collect and when my husband got back, they hadn’t even got the sauce right and sent a different one. The dishes were very greasy as were the free accompaniments. I really don’t think I’ll be back and I’m gutted as I’ve been using them for so long.

New(ish) to the area, had crab ‘claws’... mushy white canned crab meat deep fried in breadcrumbs... not good!, pork balls really greasy and looked like they had been rolled in fat/lard before batter...did not taste good! Sweet and Sour sauce pretty much just ketchup, water chestnut dish we ordered barely cooked, still hard and pretty much inedible. Such a shame, was hoping for a new place to regularly order from.

I called up for a delivery, and whilst they have my details decided to try and deliver to a hotel. I called back they said they would re-cook the food but I had to collect but it would only take ten minutes. Having got there waited 25 mins, for the staff to talk about me in front of me to the delivery driver and to blame me for not providing the proper address and then tried charging me for the food again.Getting the food home it was awful, the toast was soggy, the rice semi warm and the main dish so over cooked it was difficult to eat.I will never use this awful take away again and advise others to stay well clear.

I have not eaten from here for about 8 months and decided to read the reviews first.After reading them I nearly didn’t bother but thought I would see for myself.I called for a delivery and the lady on the phone was very polite and said how much it was and explained that it would be 45 minutes to an hour.My food was delivered 25 minutes later and was delivered by a lovely man and the food was piping hot and delicious!!!So I am glad I decided to order from there despite the reviews and definitely will do next time.

Ordered our food before 6pm and it arrived after 9pm. Needless to say we turned it away and will not be using Happy Days in Pembury again. Would be good if when taking the order they told the customer the correct approximate delivery time. We were told 45 mins! Every time we called to chase it up, we were told a different story.

£60 pound takeaway. Earthy beansprouts over powowered most dishes. Noodles overcooked. Tasteless. Never again!

I ordered my food not being told how long it would take our how much and the woman quickly put the phone down so I rang back to check the price and said I didn't think it was correct from the menu I had looked at she got an attitude straight away and said we don't have an online menu and I insisted I'd just ordered from it and I have in the past she then when on to say it was 10 years out of date !? Anyway my food arrived without a bottle of drink I was told in would get and a wrong dish was delivered so I rang back and explained that I had been given the wrong dish a woman said oh right I'll get my driver to come back out and quickly hung up on me. 2 minutes later she rang back very RUDELY saying my head chef said he gave you the right dush! I insisted he didn't and she kept saying he had she was pretty much calling me a liar she then said I better get my chicken back when my driver gets there with the other dish. She spoke to me so badly I couldn't believe it out me right off my food. Way over priced and when my dish eventually arrived it was so overcooked!

Great service and delivered to the Local Hospice where our dad was staying. Food was delicious, piping hot and good value for money. A definite recommendation from us!

Always consistent, this busy Chinese restaurant is in my opinion the best in the village. The food isn't to sweet which I often find with this cuisine.

I used to live in pembury and always used this chinese takeaway. I've now moved 8 miles away and have them deliver. Highly recommend them
