Had a lovely meal, opted for the Trout which was delicious. Service from Karen was first class. Would highly recommend.

Needs tlc, seems that they're trying to be 4☆+, but only just over 3.5☆

With Weybridge train station basically across the road, this pub has fantastic access yet you wouldn't know it was there until you're on the door step. The staff were lovely: informative and friendly. There is a bar to order your food and drinks from with menus there rather than on all the tables. There is so much room here, it just felt as if we were the only ones in the place. It also had large covered and open outdoor areas. I had the fish and chips and the serving was huge- but the fish was delightful with a wonderfully crunchy batter and a succulent piece of fish inside. It was so big I jokingly asked the staff for a room for a couple of hours to sleep it off. From what I can remember, I'm pretty sure this place is quite wheelchair friendly. If you want a quiet, out of the way place with easy access, give it a try. The Guinness was excellent as was the Young's Special

A Fawlty Towers dinner.............we took a couple out for dinner, meeting the new lady for the 1st time. We sat down at a sticky table. Ordered a bottle of wine, which came - NO glasses! My husband ordered a beer - the glass came with lipstick on it. We waited and waited for someone to turn up so we could mention our lack of glasses, but we ended up having to go and find somebody. 2 of the dishes we ALL wanted, were not available......unbelievable. The steak was cooked wrong and when we asked for it to be more cooked, it came back some time later - burnt and shrunk. An embarrassing experience with unfriendly staff and seemingly total lack of training or even wanting to do their best. Never again. Sadly.

Delightful place that was admired by all of us , unfortunately the standard of food did not come up to the same standard . pork good, f&chips good , chicken dry, my plaice was so disappointing, £22 small with hardly any fish , lots of bones, asked for potatoes to try and make up a meal and they were yesterday's heated up which tasted awful, I remember them from before, commented about them then , that was very disappointing for a first time out with family for a year , young man server was excellent

I didn't stay here, just a visit to the bar. Walking from Weybridge railway station, go up the steps, turn left and stroll down by the car park to the pub. It's a comfortable place, but a bit pricey. Cool garden.

Very nice stay, excellent service and good menus. Sadly to many Spritz cocktails could not be made, missing ingredients. The Sunday Roast was excellent as the rest of the menu

Visited the pub for dinner last night. Lovely friendly staff but the food was abysmal. The chips were cooked in old oil and the burger meat had clearly been frozen and was dry and completely tasteless. Had a terrible taste in my mouth for hours after eating that food. Gastro pub prices (£18 a burger) for quality far inferior to fast food. I used to choose to visit Youngs Pubs wherever possible because their food (especially their burgers) used to be so good. But in the last year I’ve had several bad dining experiences and will no longer be choosing to spend my money here.

Food was good for the price, service rather slowly perhaps as we were amongst the first in the restaurant.

A great place to visit, plenty indoor and outdoor space with good choice of food and wine on offer! Dog friendly too which is a bonus as water bowls and treats on hand for our furry friends! Friendly staff, Kelvin served us and he was very welcoming and looked after us, we will be back for sure!

During a recent motorcycle journey through the southern countryside with my son, we were fortunate to discover the Hand and Spear Hotel (June 19th-21st). From the moment we arrived, we were met with exceptional hospitality and a genuine desire to make our stay memorable. A special mention must be made of Kelvin, the front desk manager, who went above and beyond to rectify a booking error on my part. His professionalism and dedication to guest satisfaction were truly remarkable. The culinary experience at the Hand and Spear was equally impressive. Having come to the Hand and Spear recently, I was very impressed by the Front of House staffs desire to go above and beyond with their friendly customer service. Specifically, Joe behind the bar was exceptionally well mannered and made sure I remembered this pub as a positive experience which I would most certainly come back to.

We held a party at the location. In the lead up to the event the staff were very helpful and accommodating but on the day in question we felt let down and forgotten about almost. Upon arrival the pre drinks we'd ordered and supplied were not laid out and we had to ask for them. We had food ordered for 80 guests but they only left out plates and cutlery for 30 people. By the time we chased them a few times more the food had gone cold. We ordered more food of sliders and chips. They broight our the chips and then it was another 20 minutes for the sliders by which time the chips were cold again. Then with the cake, only 15 plates and no knife or cutlery to eat the cake with. 8 times my partner had to go and find someone to speak to about an issue. Considering we had paid above the minimum spend of £2500 for the hire I would have expected better service. The food was delicious. The location and venue are lovely but the service let them down.

Couldnt go any better. A big family of us arrived, Karen and Sotty helped us to adjust the table to our needs. Lots of high chairs. Sorry guys. Menu was fantastic even deserts. And the hotel is so nice and retro but still cool in a way! All near the weybridge station. In overall brilliant atmosphere the guys behind the bar singing the favourite songs, honestly made us feel like home. Defo will recommend xxx

Great pub, Had a work event here and the team made it a great night, Lauren and Scotty dealt with us the whole night and were excellent when serving us Very tasty food and even tastier alcohol.

This pub was recommended by friends that said they had the best fish & chips ever. We were late for our reservation but still met with a welcoming smile from Sotty who seated us with menus & said our server would be right over. A cheerful young lady came over, i didn't get her name but she was American & had a very sweet friendly manner. She recommended several options & also said they do indeed have the best fish & chips. Of course I had to try them & was so happy I did, what an amazing plate of delightful food was put in front of me. My husband being a meat monster had the pork belly that he said he could cut with his fork & he would definitely have it again. Our pub dinner was a happy surprise & inside or out the surroundings were lovely down a country lane. Thank you Sotty & America for making us feel so welcome, we will be back!

Lovely pub, very spacious and great decor, stylish and cosy! Welcomed by Sotty and Lauren as soon as we arrived. The atmosphere is great,location is perfect right close to the station. Fantastic selection of wines, cocktails and beers. Highly recommend - great spot for meal and drinks. The team here are so friendly and warm, service is top notch!

Just had family visit from Canada and took them to the Hand & Spear. They loved it. Fish & chips along with the seafood platter. The mackerel pate is fantastic. The fish and chips were brilliant.Sotty and Lauren made a real effort to make them feel welcome and it was so appreciated. Thank you so much, you mage a reunion special.

This pub/hotel is in a very nice spot on between the trees next to the Weybridge station at the bottom of the car park. There is a big covered terrace and outside seating. Very quiet away from the street tucked away surrounded by trees and no noise of the world outside. On a hot day it's a haven, inside it is air-conditioned.

It was great experience, the service was exceptional, authentic food. Hats off to Kelvin, he is an asset for the company. We will visit again soon. Thank you

Stayed here for one night before attending the RHS FLower Show at Hampton Court. The hotel is beautifully decorated, comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant and breakfast was superb. We will definately be staying here again - highly recommended.

Great pub, quirky decor and right next to train station. Came for Sunday lunch and the roast was amazing. Our waitress Jessamie was perfect, very friendly and smiley. Could not do enough for us as she was very attentive.

We ordered two asparagus salads. £16 x 2. Save yourself £28 by buying one bag of past it's best before date leaf salad, 6 spears of asparagus and one small cube of goat cheese. Disappointed.

Editing review to 4 from 5. Loved this place last year. Came here several times while pregnant and enjoyed each visit. Had lunch today with a friend and the staff seemed disconnected. Yes, there was a game coming on 3 hours after our arrival but everyone seemed oblivious to the hospitality side of things. We had a mix up with drinks (wrong order was placed on our part via the app) when I went up to get the correct drink— let’s just say I was met with hostility— I even made it clear that we would obviously pay if it was our mistake, I just wanted the correct drink…. I had to know what everyone else at our table was drinking, I had to know what table I was at, who was our server… (I have a newborn, everyone else’s order and table details aren’t what I am concerning myself with atm—) for goodness sake- just get me the correct drink and find fault later 🙄🙄🙄 Just the attitude was wild- too many issues. We will go elsewhere from now on 😒 Sad, because I had really enjoyed this place. The food and atmosphere just isn’t good enough to deal with the drama.

Just spent two nights here. Spacious room, stylish decor and furnishings. Super comfy (huge!) bed. Lovely bathroom - roll top bath, double shower, nice toiletries. We used room-service a number of times due to husband’s disability. Food really good and all the staff we met couldn’t be more helpful and friendly. Also attended sit-down wedding reception which was well organised, lovely meal and great service from the staff.

Had an amazing afternoon at the Hand & Spear! The food is excellent and the bar staff friendly and attentive. ‘America’, was fabulous and gave great advice about which beers to try. Even my 84 year old father had an enjoyable time . Thank you America for making our visit the best !

Been coming to the Hand and spear for a number of years, and always received a warm and friendly welcome from the team there, my normal drink of choice is a cappuccino, they put sugar in it on my behalf and give me a straw, which makes it easier for me to drink as a wheelchair user, me and my friend had food in there which was nice, and I had roast chicken myself which was also really tasty on another occasion, I am a regular customer and enjoy it, everytime I visit, plus the place is really local to me. I remember on a particularly busy night, they brought a table to where I was sitting in order that I could have my cappuccino, it's the small things that the team do for me, like pulling the chairs out, to allow me and my wheelchair to manoeuvre in. They also have a radar key disabled toilet.

A great pub and a great Sunday roast. The fish and chips are perfect and the pigs in blankets deserve a special mention too. Good beer and friendly staff, always worth a visit.

Lovely rooms, very disappointed with the food service. UPDATE: apparently there was a software issue which slowed everything down, manager refunded 75% of our dinner bill as a goodwill gesture, which was much appreciated.

2024... Very poor service and food delivery....served in dirty crockery and slow delivery of cutlery. No table clearance after an hour of finishing eating.... we'd left Seems to be under staffed or just a 3 star place...or an off day....waited at the bar to comment but too busy staff not really acknowledged.. ---2020--- Place was better

We were a party of four who came for an early Sunday lunch. Overall, the food was good but we weren’t keen on the reheated roast potatoes - they tasted stale and weren’t crispy. The rest of the meal was tasty and the portions sizes generous. Unfortunately, on occasion, the volume of the music was too loud and made having a conversation difficult. Loved the free, fruit-infused water on tap.

My husband and I had our wedding reception at the hand and spear and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Emily is an absolute credit to the team, nothing we asked was ever too much for us and she made a way to make it work. The entire team are lovely and made our special day run incredibly smoothly and when we did have little hiccups they adapted quickly. The food was delicious and we were complimented on it all night. We stayed in one of the rooms, this was incredible. The rooms are very spacious and very cosy. We couldn’t recommend the Hand & Spear enough. If you’re planning a wedding or another event this is the place for you!

First time visiting this pub and would definitely go back. There were 8 ladies and we had a great time. Close to train station so it was easy for everyone to get to. The bar staff were so friendly and welcoming. Food was lovely. They also had a large outside area. Hope to go back soon!!

Probably the worst meal I have had in my 40 years of life. The beef that my sister ate was like leather, not even the dogs ate it. The fish and chips were oily and over booked. Terrible. Drinks only establishment.

My Chicken roast was dry. The potatoes were poor. Generally poor quality.

I like the atmosphere. They shut off the fireplace unfortunately with the new management. But a good local pub that has what you need :-)

A disappointing meal, 2 kids, 3 adults, £205. I would have expected better service, the staff nearly ran over myself and my kids a couple times. They did not seem bothered about the customers. We had to get our own desert menu after being ignored for ages and I had to go to the bar after ordering the same drink twice. The place seemed unkept, lots of tables not cleared, despite being 30% full, service doors near the toilets open with a mess stored behind, including chemicals not stored in a bunded area. A disused couch and other mess was thrown over the fence behind the burger outlet outside, toilet soap hanging off the wall, litter here and there, no cheese board, just all disappointing. I shall not be returning.

Lovely pub, friendly staff, lovely wine. We were there on a very very quiet afternoon for my friends birthday. The only let down was the food. It was not great, it was very disappointing. Food presentation was sloppy and I ordered a vegan feta sandwich which I noticed what looked like Margarine ( yuk) inside - why? It had a nettle pesto base -it was not stated on the menu. The bread was too dry to serve cold should have been toasted? Chips were not what I asked for ( triple cooked, crunchy- they were just standard chips) I would have kept the choice to fries had I have known they were not going to be amazing ( chips are more expensive than fries too?) I would go back as I loved the vibe in the pub but I’d be wary of ordering from the lunch menu in future.

Stayed one night, room amazing! The guy at reception helped me with my luggage and was overall lovely and welcoming! Got me a table for dinner at the main restaurant, belive his name was Scotty! Delicious Sunday lunch with all the trimmings. The meat was cooked to perfection and the trimmings were bountiful and juicy. Great atmosphere and reasonably priced with attentive and friendly service from Beck. We even got a doggy bag for the furry friend who was allowed to join us.

I visited the Hand and Spear for a Sunday lunch, and my roast beef was amazing ! The Yorkshire puddings where just out of this world ? My server Jordan was amazing too, very knowledgeable of menu and described the roast perfectly. The atmosphere was great, even though it was busy, the service was great very attentive. The decor in this cosy pub matches the vibe. Loads of drink options and cocktails where great! Loved the spacious car park made it easy for my disabled partner. My partner and I will definitely be returning soon !

A lovely evening at H&S. The food was great. Two of us had the burger. My friend booked the dining area, but we ate in the bar for a better atmosphere (it was Monday). My only suggestion would be to allow a tab at the bar if it's not busy. I understand why you wouldn't do this at busy times. Thank you. We'll be back.

Great find. We were looking for a pub lunch near Brooklands museum and came across this place by chance (ie did not Google for it) and it was great. Five draught beers and even more largers etc. Just had the Spear Beef Burger and a lunch snack of poached eggs on avocado toast and both were excellent as was the Young’s ale. Okay price for Weybridge I guess as we not from around here.

Came for a Sunday roast. Food was served cold, not even warm, so sent it back and they microwaved it. £20 for a roast and we could have cooked it better at home ourselves. Plate was covered in gravy but it tasted like the pan had burnt badly. So everything on our plate tasted foul and bitter. It smelt so strongly of burnt food, we can’t understand how the ‘chefs’ thought they could serve it… We complained to staff but nothing was taken off the bill. Never coming here again.

Lovely Sunday lunch, not been here for quite a while, had a lovely roast and pudding, for me portion was perfect. Staff very friendly and accommodating. It was very busy so clearly still a very popular place. Looking forward to another trip when we can.

Decided on visiting for a Sunday lunch. I was a little concerned that as a pub chain everything would be quite bland, I was proved wrong, the vegtables were cooked to perfection, roast potatoes were crunchy on the outside soft and fluffy on the inside. A large crispy yorkshire pud topped the plate. The beef was cooked just the way I liked it and there was plenty. Would recomment as we will be going back soon to try the weelky menu.

The worst Christmas lunch, wilted chicory, no beetroot and there segments of satsuma only thing edible, torched beyond recognition, tough beef, poor service 4 hours for a 3 course meal in an empty restaurant... and top it off with a plastic staple in your pudding and cheese platter dry and as for the quince solid lump of jelly! Do not go there....should have read the signals with empty tables!
