We used the Hand & Spear for an all-day corporate event, and I have to say the service and value is incredible. Highly recommended for anyone looking to do an offsite with their team!

Both Sotty and Jessamie served me and it was great service with a friendly smile. Thank you for the attention to detail. Highly recommend the coffee and lunch menu.

Stayed here for work and needed to check in out of hours and the team couldn't have been more helpful. In addition to this, the room was gorgeous and felt cosy immediately. The car park is spacious and easy to locate. Great stay and amazing staff.

Had a lovely Sunday roast here. The place and the staff were very good.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon with my 4-year-old son. We ordered a pint and an apple juice—while the drinks were fine, the apple juice felt quite expensive at £3.15 for a child’s portion, and the pint was £7.55, which is definitely on the pricey side. For food, we went with a cheeseburger from the children’s menu and a regular burger from the main menu. Both were okay—not amazing but decent enough. That said, the bun on my burger was quite greasy on top, which made eating it a bit messy. We ordered through the app and service was reasonably quick, but no one came to check on us after the food arrived. We sat outside in the tented area, which could really use a bit more care—there were leaves all over the floor and many of the tables and chairs had bird droppings on them, which wasn’t ideal. Overall, an average experience. There’s definitely room for improvement, especially given the prices.

Small carpark and main station carpark across the road. Lovely comfortable atmosphere with bar games and books. Nice outside seating area. Just by Weybridge station, tucked away from main road. Can get rather busy on weeknights with crowds of students from College next door.

Food is good and it started well with the mains. Then it took them 25min to take the kids dessert order and then 10min to put 2 scoop of ice cream in a bowl. Quite disappointed.

Really over priced. £3.05 for a child's small glass tumbler of juice. Kids roast very small. Food took ages to arrive but was tasty and a big portion. Relaxed atmosphere which is always good with kids. Nice decor and warm. I'm a nurse so an nhs discount is always appreciated but there wasn't one here.

Dreadful ! Plaice was not fresh smelt off i should hv sent it back to kitchen plus it was colourless tasteless and not to mention the unfriendly unhelpful waiter who disappeared b4 our order of deserts would never go there again i!!!!!! In Weybridge there are so many lovely pubs and scenery around the area to choose from and probably much better food and service! 1 star is too good for this pub ! Avoid it !!!!! We attended on friday evening, the atmosphere was great and Rhys was very friendly!

We came here to watch the rugby on Saturday to see the Ireland Vs New Zealand game. The outside TV's weren't working, which meant a lot of people came inside to watch it. Fortunately we had booked seating so had a good view, but we did have to share the space we had booked to allow other fans to watch. There was an event in the back room which meant music was playing, which made it a little harder to hear the commentary. The beer is good, I can't comment about the food though. Will certainly come again as it's right next to the station which helps.

We stayed here for a weekend to visit family at very short notice and all the staff went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and important to them. They gave us their very best room, which was lovely, and were friendly and accommodating at all times. A credit to the place and we will in future use it for all our visits here. A reminder that great customer service makes for outstanding hospitality. Well done and thank you all so much.

Had a super lunch on Friday 14 February with a business colleague. My first ever visit and the staff were excellent, the food delicious and beer tasty. Very well done to all. With it being right next to Weybridge station, it is a great location. I shall return.

Nice atmosphere and delicious food. I tried The Spear Burger and Haddock, both were good.

Food and venue was fantastic. Jessamie provided phenomenal service. Highly recommend to come here for food and great hospitality for any family and friend occasion.

Overall the food and portions were decent but the meal was barely luke warm. Staff were pleasant and helpful and although the main course arrived promptly, service from then on was slow.

We booked the restaurant for Christmas day as we had been twice before. The service was poor as we weren't asked if we wanted drinks until we had to go to the bar ourselves after which we were only asked once. The starters were not great.. I had ordered the veal which looked like it was just slapped on the plate and my partner had ordered the scallops which were dry and tasted like they had been cooked hours before and left under the heat lamps. It took an age for the mains to come out after the starters. The same was with the mains....! The potatoes were not crispy and felted heated up in a microwave and my beef was so fatty and under cooked as I had trouble cutting it. It also came out luke warm. The turkey was dry and when turkey and gammon were ordered together, only 1 small slice of turkey was on the plate in comparison to the cheaper gammon. The turkey was extra dry where it had been kept warm under the lamps and there wasn't any stuffing... Shocking!! The desserts were just as bad! The Christmas pudding came out cut into quarters rather than individual portions and I even made a comment to the waitress "Where is the rest of it". Which was totally ignored.... After this we were still charged 12.5% service charge each for poor quality food and poor quality service. The only positive experience was the young lady behind the bar. I can definitely say we will not be going back especially when we were charged £100 per person plus the service charge for something I would be reluctant to pay as much as £25 for... Very, Very disappointed.... I have responded to the requested of the manager and sent her an email, but just like the service on Christmas Day, the reply from this establishment is non existent...

We had a wonderful ladies' lunch here (not staying, so cannot comment on rooms - however location to nearby main station Weybridge a huge plus point) - faultless and attentive service from our knowledgeable and helpful server Joe. Will definitely be back again soon - highly recommended!

We really like the Hand and Spear, but don't eat here, it's just a local we go to for a Friday night drink. It's a bit scruffy but has style and is warm. Is large but retains a cosy feeling.

Party of 15 for our Golden wedding anniversary. There was insufficient staff on duty. In circumstances the staff present did really well.

We booked the diner for Christmas day dinner . There were 5 in our party and each one bemoaned over the meal, the lack of care , the stubbornness of the staff and a general disinterest in the whole event.Firstly the wine glasses were disgustingly dirt, retrieved,not replaced, a discussion was started with a member of staff with my daughter over a vegetarian option which compromised of entirely of vegetables ,nothing else ,on a sparsely filled plate which consisted of around maybe 8 various things .The debate over the starters resulted in a Luke warm soup being dished up to my other daughter which she could not finish as it was terrible .my own choice of main was nice but it was wholly not enough to be called a main dish. Everyone commented on the lack of decor in the diner ,no table decorations , very little in house decor ,making it feel unwelcoming and hostile .When we asked about the lack of vegetables in the main meal we were met with the reply of each meal had enough on it, we which was not the reply we wanted to hear .The only time anyone came over to see how it was going was to ask about whether we wanted more alcohol .looking around the diner ,we noticed it was no more than half full , which we found interesting as everytime we asked for something different it was met a resignation look of" are rushed off out feet" attitude .Honestly we rarely have Christmas day dinner home, we usually spend it in different parts of Southern England or the West End .We have been married 42 years and quite frankly your diner made us argue amongst ourselves as we thought it was a day of celebration and a culmination of a tough year for us not only ruined Christmas day but questioned whether we really need to spend £120 per person on a rubbish starter, main and dessert on a place that doesn't deserve a one star review .We had intended to stay for at 3/4 hours at the place relaxing with either coffee or wine but left after 90 minutes .How in God's name I gave you £59 gratuity is beyond me . IF the staff, almost to person did not want to be there , why did you open .In stark contrast we had the Boxing day meal at The Oaklands park Hotel and difference was staggering in attitude ,service and most importantly food and the portions . Sorry about repeating myself but you Christmas day, and I for one will never forget that .Nigel

The service was awful and so was the food. I sat down and ordered via the QR code that was on the table, 10minutes later one of their employees comes up to me says my name and asks me if I'm 18, I said yes I'm 21, im assuming they did not hear me but went on to rant about if im under 18 then I should not be allowed in the pub without my parents. This was until I stopped him and told him that im 21 again. He stopped just said sorry and left. Then, 25mins later I am still to yet receive my Orange juice and lemonade which I ordered 35mins prior. I went up to the bar and told them I have not received my drinks. He went on to tell me that if I had ordered at the bar I would have received my drink then and there and that he could have told me that the wait for the food is 40minutes because there were many bookings. The pub was half empty. First of all im not worried about the food because I understand that the chefs could be busy or overwhelmed, it was just that they did not serve an orange juice and lemonade for 35minutes and then went and told me I should have ordered at the bar when there are QR codes on the table for a reason. When I sat back down they brought it over but the toast was burnt and they had tried to cover it up with the avocado. I went up to the same staff who told me to just take it straight to the chefs window where the employees take the food. There I was able to receive a new one in seconds. They did not even apologise about serving me burnt food. As well as that, the food was unseasoned, there was not an ounce of salt or pepper. It was incredibly bland.

Terrible experience all round. Some of us like the food after a two hour wait but my sausages and mash was awful with cold gravy. It’ll be a long time before I take my family back here!!

My daughters went here with friends for food during the day and were very abruptly greeted by the very rude bar tender ‘are you 18’? Now as far as I’m aware as they were only buying food in the middle of the day not causing any bother this would be allowed?? A manager at the pub stated Monday to Friday here they have a strict no 18s policy as everyone (even if just having food) needs to be at least 18. Never have I heard this policy before. And no signs were displayed to state this. I actually have never been to this pub and did ring up to advice what had happened but I was met with no care or bother for it happening and was just told that is the policy and no under 18s are allowed Monday - Friday. Another business clearly not caring for repeat business and clearly making enough £s not to care! After this experience we will take our business elsewhere and advise our friends and family to do the same.

my time at this place was not what i expected i was harassed by the staff that make the food, i was outside and they started throwing eggs at me and my mates, i went to talk to them after and they was very rude swearing and and threatening, i am very disappointed at the way they treated me and my friends for absolutely no reason what so ever.

Disappointing experience this time, someone forgot to order the food delivery apparently, so our large group had to settle for whatever was left, which didn't feel special.

Omg the service was spectacular. Such a handsome man Ryan was the best server ever he didn't ask what sauce with the roast beef he just blessed me up with the full platter of flava. He has such a good humour and made me feel special this Sunday. I advise any future patron to ask personally for Ryan to ensure the same unbelievable service I experienced.

Stopped here for a beer after walking up the River Wey and going to the train station. Beer was fine. Empty tables around us had finished plates of food when we arrived and were still there an hour later. Service in the bar was prompt because we were the only customers in there but still our empty glasses were not taken away when brought back to the bar between drinks...very noticeable lack of cleaning up despite plenty of staff talking to each other at the bar...not a great impression.

If you want shit service, try and order a beer at the bar here.

Butternut soup was watery and unpleasant. Scallops were not to standard. Service was shocking table was not set up or ready for the 19 guests. Meals took far longer than the allocated time we were given, even with their request to pre order all food, which meant we missed out on our dessert as we had a game to get to. Gave us a 20% off as an apology. Wouldn’t go back.

Went to the restaurant for a meal. When we arrived the place was pretty much empty but there was still plates and glasses left at empty tables. Despite being empty it took a while for someone to show us to our table (well we had to try find someone) and then take our order. Food was not too bad. Disappointing experience.

We had a Saturday lunch for seven people. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and the staff were both attentive and friendly. Will definitely go back.

Had a fabulous Friday night at The Hand & Spear in Weybridge this week. Every year I arrange a company reunion, this was our 12th year! We began meeting at venues in Windsor and Clapham then found the Hand & Spear which works perfectly for everyone, for people driving, there is parking, for people coming from London, there is the Weybridge train station next to it. I reserve an area beforehand, the staff are really helpful and there is a great selection of drinks cocktails/beers and the food is delicious, every time I visit I can't resist the lush burgers they have. Highly recommend this place.

I have eaten here a couple of times and the food is consistently good as is the service. Karen looked after us really well and was so friendly, attentive and engaging. Would highly recommend.

I have reviewed the hotel previously. I have visited the pub twice now and stayed twice. This time it was after the funeral of my Mother-In-Law, we called and booked a space for a wake. We were only required to give a rough idea of numbers and they did not require pre booking for food (we guessed 10-15 people if it had been more then they may have had to take a deposit or pre-order, though they didn't say this.) They gave us a nice section of the pub and were attentive and accommodating. We set up a tab and the were conscientious and gave regular updates to how much had been spent. A group of us stayed for dinner and again the food was good. the staff were good and helpful. Very pleased and will visit again

I recently had breakfast and it was absolutely fantastic! From the moment I walked in, the cozy atmosphere and welcoming staff made me feel great. I’ll definitely be back to try more of their menu! Highly recommend!

AMAZING FOOD! The duck and scallop startes were incredible! The fish and chips a veritable MOUNTAIN and that chocolate mousse is unmissable! Karen was a lovely host and the boys behind the bar were eager to please and create drinks on request! A wonderful evening had by all!

Food is good tasting and portion is huge! The restaurant ambience is a good representation of the UK countryside. There are quite a variety in the alcohol section, from wines to IPA. Owner was very friendly and allowed us to sample some of the beer as I am not familiar and not from UK

The staff at this hotel were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Big shout out to Sotty who helped us with a little guidance in the area too and was so patience with our sons demands :)) The food was outstanding. That Ox cheek top notch. 10/10 in overall. My birthday meal.8 of us. Firstly, my grandson and girlfriend were questioned about age, they are over 18. The food was not good one of our party has allergies. Ordered steak, waiter came back , no steak. Seriously on a Saturday night.. He had to have chips. My meal, burger etc was forgotten until the remainder of the party was halfway through theirs. A memorable birthday for all the wrong reasons.

We love this place, its warm, inviting and the staff are always happy and friendly, especially Jessamie who always makes the effort to go above and beyond to make sure we have a lovely time. The food is great, shout out the chef Jack, who makes the best roast potatoes.

Sold out of veggie roasts by 2pm and unable to offer anything else instead. Zero effort and so poor. This used to be my favourite Weybridge pub. You’re clearly not making enough and missing out on business. Don’t recommend going if you’re a veggie here!!

Found this off a list of top places for a roast in Surrey, and it definitely lived up to it’s reputation. We all had different roasts and shared a bottle of wine. The interior and atmosphere is upper class pub vibes. Very friendly staff. Everything was served in a very timely manner. For the amount of food we got, the prices are more than reasonable. Highly recommend!

Sunday lunch for 9 was excellent. Staff were very attentive and the food was delicious. Didn’t give it full marks because we had to wait a long time for one of the lunches and another lunch was missing some veg but they did rectify that as soon as it was pointed out.

Perfect place for a Sunday Roast, although some of the other dishes that we saw coming out also looked absolutely delicious! Lovely décor, super friendly and helpful staff (especially Jessamie, who was fab) and the food was fantastic. Great place for getting together with friends and family of all ages, lots of space for large groups, and intimate nooks for small ones. Thank you all, we will definitely be back.

My family has been visiting the Hand and Spear on or about 9th October for the last 15years to raise a glass to my son, their brother, sister, father since his death in 2009. This was his regular watering hole. The experience last night was not exceptional, the menu was disappointing and the food average. In the past it has always been excellent, we will have to seriously think bout whether we return next year.

It's nice and quiet. You should visit or take a coffee break there. The people are lovely.

I had my 60th birthday party here in a reserved section of this lovely pub. It's in a great location, peaceful but close to Weybridge train station. The food platters were delicious and the service on the night was exceptional.

We are not normally the review types but here we are! Over the weekend, my partner and I came off the train from London and noticed a little hidden gem 1 minute walk from Weybridge station! We were warmly greeted by the young barman with an accent - didnt catch his name. Very friendly, knowledgeable about what he was selling and always seemed to have a joke up his sleeve.. My partner and I both had the burger which easily could of been one of the best burgers we have ever had! Pub had a nice warm interior feel to it. We will defnilty be returning for round 2. See you then!

Our family visit was as good as it could have been. The food was excellent. We were very well accommodated and the wait-staff took so much trouble to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. In the opinion of this writer, the food is unusually good compared with a lot of similar "Sunday Lunch" pubs - it's fresh and very well prepared and cooked. Menu choices are also very good. Plus the environment (in the middle of the woods but right near Weybridge Rail Station) couldn't be better with a variety of different places in the property, indoors and outdoors, to choose to sit in. It's my favorite place.

Which was amazing , we had two nights which included money off our dinner as well as breakfast on both mornings. The food was very good , service excellent . Thank you to the whole team for making it such pleasurable experience, would highly recommend.

With Weybridge train station basically across the road, this pub has fantastic access yet you wouldn't know it was there until you're on the door step. The staff were lovely: informative and friendly. There is a bar to order your food and drinks from with menus there rather than on all the tables. There is so much room here, it just felt as if we were the only ones in the place. It also had large covered and open outdoor areas. I had the fish and chips and the serving was huge- but the fish was delightful with a wonderfully crunchy batter and a succulent piece of fish inside. It was so big I jokingly asked the staff for a room for a couple of hours to sleep it off. From what I can remember, I'm pretty sure this place is quite wheelchair friendly. If you want a quiet, out of the way place with easy access, give it a try. The Guinness was excellent as was the Young's Special

A Fawlty Towers dinner.............we took a couple out for dinner, meeting the new lady for the 1st time. We sat down at a sticky table. Ordered a bottle of wine, which came - NO glasses! My husband ordered a beer - the glass came with lipstick on it. We waited and waited for someone to turn up so we could mention our lack of glasses, but we ended up having to go and find somebody. 2 of the dishes we ALL wanted, were not available......unbelievable. The steak was cooked wrong and when we asked for it to be more cooked, it came back some time later - burnt and shrunk. An embarrassing experience with unfriendly staff and seemingly total lack of training or even wanting to do their best. Never again. Sadly.

Delightful place that was admired by all of us , unfortunately the standard of food did not come up to the same standard . pork good, f&chips good , chicken dry, my plaice was so disappointing, £22 small with hardly any fish , lots of bones, asked for potatoes to try and make up a meal and they were yesterday's heated up which tasted awful, I remember them from before, commented about them then , that was very disappointing for a first time out with family for a year , young man server was excellent

I didn't stay here, just a visit to the bar. Walking from Weybridge railway station, go up the steps, turn left and stroll down by the car park to the pub. It's a comfortable place, but a bit pricey. Cool garden.

Very nice stay, excellent service and good menus. Sadly to many Spritz cocktails could not be made, missing ingredients. The Sunday Roast was excellent as the rest of the menu

Visited the pub for dinner last night. Lovely friendly staff but the food was abysmal. The chips were cooked in old oil and the burger meat had clearly been frozen and was dry and completely tasteless. Had a terrible taste in my mouth for hours after eating that food. Gastro pub prices (£18 a burger) for quality far inferior to fast food. I used to choose to visit Youngs Pubs wherever possible because their food (especially their burgers) used to be so good. But in the last year I’ve had several bad dining experiences and will no longer be choosing to spend my money here.

Food was good for the price, service rather slowly perhaps as we were amongst the first in the restaurant.
