Food is good tasting and portion is huge! The restaurant ambience is a good representation of the UK countryside. There are quite a variety in the alcohol section, from wines to IPA. Owner was very friendly and allowed us to sample some of the beer as I am not familiar and not from UK

My birthday meal.8 of us. Firstly, my grandson and girlfriend were questioned about age, they are over 18. The food was not good one of our party has allergies. Ordered steak, waiter came back , no steak. Seriously on a Saturday night.. He had to have chips. My meal, burger etc was forgotten until the remainder of the party was halfway through theirs. A memorable birthday for all the wrong reasons.

Sold out of veggie roasts by 2pm and unable to offer anything else instead. Zero effort and so poor. This used to be my favourite Weybridge pub. You’re clearly not making enough and missing out on business. Don’t recommend going if you’re a veggie here!!

Found this off a list of top places for a roast in Surrey, and it definitely lived up to it’s reputation. We all had different roasts and shared a bottle of wine. The interior and atmosphere is upper class pub vibes. Very friendly staff. Everything was served in a very timely manner. For the amount of food we got, the prices are more than reasonable. Highly recommend!

My family has been visiting the Hand and Spear on or about 9th October for the last 15years to raise a glass to my son, their brother, sister, father since his death in 2009. This was his regular watering hole. The experience last night was not exceptional, the menu was disappointing and the food average. In the past it has always been excellent, we will have to seriously think bout whether we return next year.

We are not normally the review types but here we are! Over the weekend, my partner and I came off the train from London and noticed a little hidden gem 1 minute walk from Weybridge station! We were warmly greeted by the young barman with an accent - didnt catch his name. Very friendly, knowledgeable about what he was selling and always seemed to have a joke up his sleeve.. My partner and I both had the burger which easily could of been one of the best burgers we have ever had! Pub had a nice warm interior feel to it. We will defnilty be returning for round 2. Our family visit was as good as it could have been. The food was excellent. We were very well accommodated and the wait-staff took so much trouble to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. In the opinion of this writer, the food is unusually good compared with a lot of similar "Sunday Lunch" pubs - it's fresh and very well prepared and cooked. Menu choices are also very good. Plus the environment (in the middle of the woods but right near Weybridge Rail Station) couldn't be better with a variety of different places in the property, indoors and outdoors, to choose to sit in. It's my favorite place.

With Weybridge train station basically across the road, this pub has fantastic access yet you wouldn't know it was there until you're on the door step. The staff were lovely: informative and friendly. There is a bar to order your food and drinks from with menus there rather than on all the tables. There is so much room here, it just felt as if we were the only ones in the place. It also had large covered and open outdoor areas. I had the fish and chips and the serving was huge- but the fish was delightful with a wonderfully crunchy batter and a succulent piece of fish inside. It was so big I jokingly asked the staff for a room for a couple of hours to sleep it off. From what I can remember, I'm pretty sure this place is quite wheelchair friendly. If you want a quiet, out of the way place with easy access, give it a try. The Guinness was excellent as was the Young's Special

A Fawlty Towers dinner.............we took a couple out for dinner, meeting the new lady for the 1st time. We sat down at a sticky table. Ordered a bottle of wine, which came - NO glasses! My husband ordered a beer - the glass came with lipstick on it. We waited and waited for someone to turn up so we could mention our lack of glasses, but we ended up having to go and find somebody. 2 of the dishes we ALL wanted, were not available......unbelievable. The steak was cooked wrong and when we asked for it to be more cooked, it came back some time later - burnt and shrunk. An embarrassing experience with unfriendly staff and seemingly total lack of training or even wanting to do their best. Never again. Sadly.

Visited the pub for dinner last night. Lovely friendly staff but the food was abysmal. The chips were cooked in old oil and the burger meat had clearly been frozen and was dry and completely tasteless. Had a terrible taste in my mouth for hours after eating that food. Gastro pub prices (£18 a burger) for quality far inferior to fast food. I used to choose to visit Youngs Pubs wherever possible because their food (especially their burgers) used to be so good. But in the last year I’ve had several bad dining experiences and will no longer be choosing to spend my money here.

During a recent motorcycle journey through the southern countryside with my son, we were fortunate to discover the Hand and Spear Hotel (June 19th-21st). From the moment we arrived, we were met with exceptional hospitality and a genuine desire to make our stay memorable. A special mention must be made of Kelvin, the front desk manager, who went above and beyond to rectify a booking error on my part. His professionalism and dedication to guest satisfaction were truly remarkable. The culinary experience at the Hand and Spear was equally impressive. The locally sourced ingredients were transformed into delectable dishes, with the fennel sausages and the full English breakfast being particular highlights. Our room was a haven of comfort, especially during the hottest day of this summer. The air conditioning worked flawlessly, ensuring a restful sleep, and the bedding was fresh and inviting. The hotel's amenities further enhanced our stay. The cozy bar provided the perfect setting for unwinding after a day of riding, and the secure parking offered peace of mind for our motorcycles. The location of the Hand and Spear is ideal. Nestled in a green suburb with easy access to a commuter train station, it strikes the perfect balance between tranquility and convenience, with London being just a short ride away. Overall, our experience at the Hand and Spear exceeded expectations. It's a hidden gem that caters to the needs of travelers seeking a unique blend of comfort, exceptional service, and culinary delights. Whether you're embarking on a motorcycle adventure or simply seeking a peaceful retreat, the Hand and Spear is a destination worth exploring.

We held a party at the location. In the lead up to the event the staff were very helpful and accommodating but on the day in question we felt let down and forgotten about almost. Upon arrival the pre drinks we'd ordered and supplied were not laid out and we had to ask for them. We had food ordered for 80 guests but they only left out plates and cutlery for 30 people. By the time we chased them a few times more the food had gone cold. We ordered more food of sliders and chips. They broight our the chips and then it was another 20 minutes for the sliders by which time the chips were cold again. Then with the cake, only 15 plates and no knife or cutlery to eat the cake with. 8 times my partner had to go and find someone to speak to about an issue. Considering we had paid above the minimum spend of £2500 for the hire I would have expected better service. The food was delicious. The location and venue are lovely but the service let them down.

We were late for our reservation but still met with a welcoming smile from Sotty who seated us with menus & said our server would be right over. A cheerful young lady came over, i didn't get her name but she was American & had a very sweet friendly manner. She recommended several options & also said they do indeed have the best fish & chips. Of course I had to try them & was so happy I did, what an amazing plate of delightful food was put in front of me. My husband being a meat monster had the pork belly that he said he could cut with his fork & he would definitely have it again. Editing review to 4 from 5. Loved this place last year. Came here several times while pregnant and enjoyed each visit. Had lunch today with a friend and the staff seemed disconnected. Yes, there was a game coming on 3 hours after our arrival but everyone seemed oblivious to the hospitality side of things. We had a mix up with drinks (wrong order was placed on our part via the app) when I went up to get the correct drink— let’s just say I was met with hostility— I even made it clear that we would obviously pay if it was our mistake, I just wanted the correct drink…. I had to know what everyone else at our table was drinking, I had to know what table I was at, who was our server… (I have a newborn, everyone else’s order and table details aren’t what I am concerning myself with atm—) for goodness sake- just get me the correct drink and find fault later 🙄🙄🙄 Just the attitude was wild- too many issues. We will go elsewhere from now on 😒 Sad, because I had really enjoyed this place. The food and atmosphere just isn’t good enough to deal with the drama.

Been coming to the Hand and spear for a number of years, and always received a warm and friendly welcome from the team there, my normal drink of choice is a cappuccino, they put sugar in it on my behalf and give me a straw, which makes it easier for me to drink as a wheelchair user, me and my friend had food in there which was nice, and I had roast chicken myself which was also really tasty on another occasion, I am a regular customer and enjoy it, everytime I visit, plus the place is really local to me. I remember on a particularly busy night, they brought a table to where I was sitting in order that I could have my cappuccino, it's the small things that the team do for me, like pulling the chairs out, to allow me and my wheelchair to manoeuvre in. They also have a radar key disabled toilet.

A disappointing meal, 2 kids, 3 adults, £205. I would have expected better service, the staff nearly ran over myself and my kids a couple times. They did not seem bothered about the customers. We had to get our own desert menu after being ignored for ages and I had to go to the bar after ordering the same drink twice. The place seemed unkept, lots of tables not cleared, despite being 30% full, service doors near the toilets open with a mess stored behind, including chemicals not stored in a bunded area. A disused couch and other mess was thrown over the fence behind the burger outlet outside, toilet soap hanging off the wall, litter here and there, no cheese board, just all disappointing. I shall not be returning.

We had a lovely Saturday night dinner at The Queen’s Head in Weybridge yesterday. I chose the Chalkstream Trout, whilst my partner had the venison. We then both chose the same dessert, the pistachio soufflét, which was excellent. We must also give a shout out to our waitress, Jolie, who was brilliant. We can highly recommend dining at The Queen’s Head.

My partner and I came out a little while ago for a little date to watch the rugby. I learnt when we arrived that their cocktail menu is very bare. (DON’T come, if you’re coming for cocktails - even the basics ones! also NO food being served even though the website says they do!) I made my disappointment clear to the very young looking bartender about not having any cocktails. He said he could make me an off menu ‘special’ cocktail he learnt while he was living in Africa. It was special type of customer service I had never experienced before! My partner had a very fine New Zealand Savvy B. All negatives aside, the pub is very affordable for it being in the centre of Weybridge, cozy decor and both were staff were excellent. They also have a pool table at the back!! Don’t see that too often nowadays. Recommend if you’re ever in the weybridge area and in need of some cheap booze!

Packed full of people, long queues for expensive food, and a strangely threatening phone accessory shop next to the bogs. It did the job. Bang average.
