I rarely use superlatives but in this case it's justified. 5 star service and a superb menu. The standard of cooking is exceptional. My rhubarb soufflé dessert was brilliant. Wines are a little off the beaten track (their stated intention) but with sommelier Dominique you're in good hands. It's in a beautiful location too. Well worth a trip to visit here.

It has taken me quite a while to write this review, so let's dispense with the elephant in the room - this is a top class hotel, luxury surroundings with high quality food served in a beautiful environment and this all comes at a price. We were being entertained, a special family get together but, four weeks later, I am still battling my conscience over the bill - nearly £600 for lunch for six with only one glass of wine between us and the rest having soft drinks.

Jackson Stops Country Inn

07/12/2018: Four of us went for lunch and you definitely need to book.
26/08/2018: This is a quirky 17th century pub with stone walls and wooden beams. It all adds to a wonderful ambience. The setting in the village of stretton is pretty. Parking is limited but you can park on the road. Menu is varied and food is presented very well and delicious. Staff are friendly and efficient although the bar man did forget to take your drink orders. This is recommended if you like a very good restaurant in a lovely location with good food at reasonable prices this is for you.

The Wheatsheaf

05/08/2018: We had driven past this place many times & felt it looked a " quaint" type of village pub & decided to book. We were greeted well & shown to our table in the resturant. The table staff were charming & the menu was priced on either a 2 or 3 course menu with a very good choice of food.
05/10/2018: Long time since we have been here, the menu choice was very god, the food good and the service excellent. Nice friendly atmosphere, made to feel very welcome. My wheat intolerant wife had the menu carefully gone through to ensure she could eat what she wanted. Overall very good.
