We are so lucky to have this unique spot. The interior is authentic and interesting to look around. Clearly, being a brewery, the beer is top notch. The food is reasonably priced and hearty. There's a nice mix of locals and not so regulars, creating a great atmosphere.

Good pub but disappointed in the fact that you can't buy beer from the pub so called supposed to be a brewery they want notice to prepare take outs even though it's supposed to be were it's brewed so a disappointment really not worth travelling there would not be going back

Second meal in as many days! What a find-‘sniffed’ out the day before and our noses led us to fantastic food, drink, ambience and staff. Carrie-Anne deserves a special shout out for selling us the idea of the Tuesday Burger Night after delicious, obviously home cooked, fish pie and steak pie on the Monday. Excellent friendly service with just the right amount of banter-she’s a star. Brilliant all round.

The most amazing Sunday Lunch today. The beef was cooked exceptionally. The beer was superb as I watched the duration of the football that wasn’t disrupted by the weather (understandable with satellite TV as was explained by the staff) and would definitely return again! Many thanks to Carrie, Harsha and Malachi for their delightful service whilst we are food, and to Sam and Carrie in the evening for their amazing hospitality and humorous wit.

We have been to this pub before on our yearly trips to Oakham and have never been disappointed. The pub always seems to be buzzing and has a nice atmosphere. We visited just for food and had 4 adults, a 9 year old and a dog and every one of us left happy. We had the lemon chicken with garlic Parmentier potatoes off the main menu and Venison Burger and Duck off the specials along with a children's macaroni cheese. The food was fresh/delicious/good quality/exceptional. The service was excellent and Amy our waitress was very friendly, accommodating and efficient. As soon as she saw the dog she fetched a bowl of water and that was great for settling her. We all left happy, even the 9 year old and are planning to return this evening.

I came here for the brewery tour and found it extremely informative and educational, are the host was passionate about the history of beer and of course grainstore it's self, and with with well explained tasters after, we then enjoyed the ploughman's and wouldn't hesitate in returning and I can't recommend enough to anyone who enjoys ale to do the grainstore brewery tour and enjoy their lovely ales on offer. P,s the staff are a treasure to the brewery.

Been a few times to the Grainstore in my many years in the Leicestershire and is normally a fine place, beer is great, food is good, always welcoming. But went to watch the footie today with some mates as a special treat and this girl behind the bar was rude, never smiled and was wearing the most offensive jumper with target rings on top of teddy bears. She looked disinterested and quite frankly didn’t seem to be doing anything willing to serve customers well. As I said, the rest of the staff was, and are, fab. Really good, really fast, really polite and friendly. Just been a good time ruined by one member of staff so we’re moving elsewhere to watch the footie. Disgraceful!

Once again had a fantastic lunch in Oakham. This is without doubt the best upmarket spitnsawdust place i ever found. The drooling of the hounds lying around the tables at the lunches served up above. We had beef & ale pie, perfect with that bit o dumpling, a rich gravy and expertly cooked veg. The watercress garnish make it look like it fell out of a low entry michelin guide. The french fries were spot on & the boy who eats only chips couldn’t get enough, if only he’d try the dumplings! The MemShaib chose the shepherds pie which she very kindly said was as good as mine, when pressed she admitted the balance of filling to topping was better, didn’t come with dumplings tho…. We took beer home as always the Ten Fifty and Osprey as beautiful as ever. Travelling along the A1 stop for lunch best hour and a half you’ll probably have all day! June 2024, back again, just as good! Had the ribs this time, huge plateful. Too much in fact! The menu is shorter, might be a good thing.

Inside the bar is really well decorated with brewery memorabilia and certificates of achievement. Outside, there is ample seating when the weather plays ball. The choice and quality of cask ales is to be applauded. Other styles of drinking are well catered for. We chose to eat lunch and were really impressed with the quality, portion size, and pricing of the meals. This is a definite revisit location. First time here. Atmosphere was really good, staff were friendly and food excellent. We had cheese croquettes and pork belly bites to start both of which were tasty to share. Waiting staff were really attentive and cared what we thought about the food. For mains I had lemon chicken - really enjoyed it - but if you're not keen on peas avoid. Others in the party had sausage and mash - a very generous portion and the steak and ale pie. All were really good. We're not sure if they offered puddings but we were too full anyway. Good value for money and would definitely return. When paying the bill they did forget to take the £10 deposit we'd paid off the final bill but I think it was just a genuine mistake and it was quickly rectified.

Fantastic breakfast with great friendly service on Saturday with free tea and coffee. Had a couple of pints of 1050 and I must say what a fantastic beer. Went back on Sunday lunch for a couple more pint and saw they did mini kegs so I bought one ..yum yum..yes please but then had another pint and was told the barrell was off but I didn't care as it was still nice. They took my mini keg away and refunded everything. I got to say I was saddened as I was only visiting friends for weekend. As we were leaving the boss brought the mini keg back and gave it to me and said you may as well have it but let it settle a couple of days then try it.... how good is that.. took responsibility for what they thought was inferior beer which I didn't notice and then give. me 9 pint keg as well. I will try the beer in a few days and if its up to scratch I will send them the money for the keg.... can not fault their commitment . Well done and you deserve more than the 5 stars I can give you.

Prompted by an earlier review, I selected the brie, smoked bacon and cranberry sauce ciabatta sandwich on my first visit to the Grainstore. The size and quality of my sandwich was exceptional, with the dressed leaf salad and red cabbage slaw being well chosen and ideal accompaniments. Though perhaps a little pricey, my two coffees were also of fine quality, suggesting that a good roast of coffee had been used in their making; certainly superior to what might have had in some of the chains of coffee shops like, say, Starbucks.

We went for the gold package brewery tour and wasn’t disappointed at all, the tour was very interesting, informative and above all fun, our tour guide Chris was very funny and made the two hour tour go all too quickly, the ploughman lunch, which was included in the price was more than adequate for two and was very tasty, the samples came next and then the “golden hour” of drinks. The building itself is lovely and very welcoming to both humans and furry friends too. 100% recommend and 100% will be visiting again.

Staying in Oakham, we were so pleased that the Grainstore managed to squeeze us in at the last minute, as everywhere in the town seemed to be full with Xmas party groups. The welcome was great and the place had a fantastic buzzing atmosphere with people drinking at the bar as well as groups eating. Initially we were rather disappointed that the only menu available was the ‘build-a-burger’ (as the website didn’t seem to specify that the normal menu would be unavailable). However the burgers turned out to be superb ………..once we’d mastered the choice of items to build with - the selection was astounding!!!! They were delicious, juicy and very well-filled, and with the addition of fries and salad, plus an included drink, made for superb value for money. We’d definitely return here if we’re in the area again as we’d love to sample some other menus and beers.

Nice brewery tour. We went to the Grainstore and we're met by a jovial host Chris. He took us around the brewery and conducted a really fun tour, definitely on par with Rorys tour that we attended previously. The only real difference is that we used to be allowed to take a beer around whilst on the tour, but this has now stopped due to health and safety. One suggestion would be a complementary pint on arrival, providing you are there ahead of time. The other difference was that on the Gold package, we used to get a pint with the ploughman's same as the bronze package, which was another nice touch. But that aside the day was excellent and really made enjoyable by Chris and the team.

Greeted with a smile upon arrival, and saw our reservation had been put on the table we requested (booking certainly advised on a weekend). Menus delivered and a drinks order was taken from the table and delivered promptly, just as asked. As it was a Sunday, 3 of us wanted the Roast Pork, but there was a smaller selection on non-traditional meals to chose from too, so my husband ordered a Burger. After only a short wait, the food got delivered to the table, just as asked for (I requested the cauliflower to have no cheese on and 2 of us requested no red cabbage. Also hubby wanted the bacon well done on his bacon). Additional condiments were offered and another drinks order was taken. The lovely team of staff were by no means pushy, but were around if needed. Lovely atmosphere throughout as it’s a popular place to eat and drink. Great selection of locally sourced food and drink and with that, prices of some items will be higher than other places but I’m happy to support local people who obviously care about the offering they give. We’ll definitely be back!

We did book two weeks in advance, but I dont think that made too much difference, if at all. Staff really friendly, lovely atmosphere and fab food / drink.

Small menu but everything we had was very very good. And reasonably priced. And a lovely spot looking over the lawn. What’s not to like
