Expensive, but worth it as a regular treat. The location, the environment, the food and the service are all top notch. Highly recommend.

Told staff I had a mustard allergy only to then be assured all mustard was removed from my food then developed mild allergy symptoms later. The burger I bought was very dry , don’t understand why this place gets such high reviews. The reality is different from the reputation.

We really enjoyed our visit. We arrived before the queues and were greeted and shown to our table by a very pleasant lady. Our waitress was Roza, she was superb, very pleasant and helpful. We will certainly come again when we visit Harrogate.

Not many places I've been to come close to our experience today. Wet miserable day in the wonderful historic spa town of Harrogate. We queued under the shelter. Spoke to a lovely lady who has been coming regularly for decades! Menus handed out in the queue by a polite gentleman. Beautiful design and well written. The prices may turn some folks, but you would be only spiting yourself. Every menu item i seen and ate mysel tasted or looked fantastic. We only had cakes, tea & coffee. The staff we dealt with made us feel welcome, comfortable and added so much to the experience. My wife was embarrassed to put the lady out of her way asking for the dessert trolley. But, at an instant and reassuringly despite how busy the place was, the member of staff came over with the trolley and expertly described each item. Overall the whole experience was so memorable and enjoyable i can see why the lady in the queue has been returning for decades. Thank you!

Perfectly alright, but nothing special and definitely not as good as its prices or how good they think they are would suggest.

Decided to visit after going to the Emmerdale Tour. Heard so many Great things so really couldn't wait to try. Queue wasn't overly long (we arrived around 2pm) every member of staff is dressed immaculately and has manners to match. We was shown to our table which was downstairs and wow. The decor, attention to detail, atmosphere and food was out of this world. You really feel like it's an experience not just a meal. I went for Betty's burger which I think is the nicest burger I've ever eaten! My mother in law had the chicken schnitzel which was also cooked to perfection. The food was top quality and so well cooked. It is on the expensive side however i would definitely say its value for money when you take everything into account. Would definitely visit again and highly recommend!!

Very disappointing not the normal standard food bland and overpriced.

Was told a MUST to visit Betty's tearooms. Saw long queue and decided to return later which we did and there was no queue. Nice experience and we enjoyed the Yorkshire cream tea . Although visited a tearoom in Haworth the next day and enjoyed an equally nice cream tea but half the price but not such a fancy setting.

Betty's is not just a tea room, it is an event in itself! It is like entering the 19th Century, eating in a luxurious setting with proper tea in teapots and quality crockery and cutlery. The "fat rascals", served with clotted cream and strawberry jam, are delicious but unless you have a large appetite, probably best shared! The service is meticulous and the staff pleasant and helpful. A slightly expensive treat, but you are really paying for the memory.

Lovely old fashioned tearoom in the heart of Harrowgate offering good, well prepared food with a smile. Staff all very welcoming and polite, love this place we visit every time we are in the area.

Having recently found out I have food allergies eating out can be more difficult but upon arrival we were handled by Georgie. She went out of her way to explain everything that was suitable and adjusted the menu and my order to accommodate my needs. The food was amazing and the service from start to finish by Georgie was fantastic and she is a real asset to your business Thanks David

Betty’s cafe tea rooms were on my list for a long time as I always saw a line every time I visited York. I decided to finally visit the place with my fellow friends and to see if the place lives up to the hype and it does! The food was excellent with good portions and quality ingredients. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Same goes with the tea as well as I must admit that they make the best brewed tea here! Service was also excellent as the staff always asked us about our opinions or if we need anything with a big smile on their face. The atmosphere can be a bit overwhelming as it is a busy place and the line to get in can grow really fast! For that reason I would recommend visiting the restaurant early during brunch than the lunch rush hour. Overall it was a nice experience to share with friends and enjoy a good cup of tea and delicious food. It is a good treat as it is pricey but I would say that it’s worth the experience.

For my special 80th Birthday my daughters booked for afternoon tea in the Imperial Rooms 16/3/ 24, something I had always wanted to do. What a disappointment the food was dreadful and so small it was unbelievable! The two lady’s in the window near us complained because their bread was mouldy ! Not what one would expect from Betty’s. I felt sorry for my four daughters who had planned this treat for me at a cost of £250. I came away thinking “ All that glitters is not gold “ Shame on you Betty’s ! Mrs D Davies Leeds

The service and food are fantastic. The price may seem steep but the quality is there to match it. If you're curious about the hype I recommend you come here and try it for yourself.

Don't really understand what the fuss is about . The quiche was fabulous, but the service was mixed, cakes nothing out of the ordinary sadly.

Betty's Harrogate has amazing tea, yummy mushroom sandwiches, and heavenly desserts. The service is great too. A must-visit spot in Harrogate for delicious treats and cozy vibes!

Wonderful tea experience bought some lovely cakes from the shop on leave.

We had a really nice lunch at Betty’s, followed by scone and tea. Best part was not having to wait in a queue but think that was just pure luck! Very nice inside and out, food was lovely and nice staff. Toilets were very nice/clean, more like you would expect in a five star hotel.

The pianist was amazing he made the atmosphere so special and was lovely talking to us about the pieces he was playing absolutely beautiful

I have been here with my friends back in February 2024. Beautiful cafe with amazing selection for afternoon tea. I would suggest to book afternoon tea in upstairs imperial suite as you get refill on sandwiches which is not available downstairs. Also make sure you book in advance as its very busy. Parking is close by only 5 minutes walk and very reasonable priced.

Great Tea rooms with very nice food (including vegan options) and staff. Note to management: Please include a service charge on the bill to reward your hardworking staff!

Lovely place and friendly staff. Had to have the afternoon tea as it would have been rude not to.

Beautiful surroundings. Superb service and the food device. Food that you know how it tastes, egg and cress sandwiches, was on another level. My daughter enjoyed her soup so much that she tried to make it last as long as possible! And of course cakes!

We had lunch on the 9th March,a very pleasant experience. Prawn and salmon sandwiches and a portion of very nicely cooked chips and some of the nicest coffee I have tried in a while and it was hot not luke warm. The staff who attended to us were very pleasant, friendly and polite. The lunch wasn't the cheapest we could have had in Harrogate but you get what you pay for. We were lucky there was no queue when we went in , certainly a queue when we came out. We will certainly call again on our next trip to Harrogate.

Ambiance is great and service is very good. Ordered haddock and chips. Not as good as Wetherly Whale. Fat Rascal is excellent.

Youve got to visit Bettys if you go to Harrogate.There was a small queue no need to book.We got a table with a great view of the gardens.The cream tea was lovely

Lovely afternoon tea experience in Betty’s Harrogate. Staff were very friendly and attentive, especially Karen who made me feel very welcomed. Food was delicious and I also had a free refill of sandwiches. Beautiful setting with a pianist. Enjoyed reading the history of Betty’s in the leaflet Karen kindly gave me. I would return.

Enjoyed the hot chocolate and vanilla slice. That was served by the polish Adam with kindness and respect. A very good worker

Attended for breakfast. Had the imperial breakfast, which was great as it gave you a bit of everything, rosti with poached egg, cinnamon toast, bircher museli, Danish Pastry and choice of tea. All well.cooked and well presented. Can't believe the queue at 10.30am

There are many people lining up every day (queue). The service is good and the atmosphere is good. I don’t know the price because my friend is treating me to diners from Taiwan.

Afternoon tea in the imperial suite. Service was excellent and very friendly. Food was perfectly presented, and sandwiches and tea were replenished free of charge. Betty's definitely have my vote for the best afternoon tea.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Betty Café in Harrogate, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The service at Betty Café is top-notch. The staff members are friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. From the moment I was seated to the moment I left, I felt well taken care of. The attention to detail and personalized service truly set Betty Café apart.

Experienced Afternoon Tea here with my wife and friends. Was totally amazing. The atmosphere was relaxed whilst both the service and food was first rate. You found yourself being transported back to a time where people relaxed.

So be prepared to queue! That's the only negative I can give regarding sitting in to eat at this fabulous cafe. It's quite pricey. Me and my girlfriend each had one hot drink, a burger and a slice of cake and the bill came to approx £64. But we walked away feeling like it was money very well spent. The food is delicious, as we're the drinks, I opted for the hot chocolate and my girlfriend went for the mocha, both were very creamy and tasted amazing. The burger was out of this world, it may have been £20 but it was worth every single penny, I added bacon onto mine as well (I mean come on, it's bacon!!). We finished with a cake of the trolley and walked away very happy. The food was amazing, the service was equally as good, if not better. Polite, chatty (but not overkill), helpful and very knowledgeable in the many many cakes on offer. Table service is available to bring stuff from the shop, not a bad idea if your belly is full from indulging, but we chose to walk around the shop. We wanted to buy some French fancies (these are amazing) but sadly on the day we went they had sold out, this resulted in sad faces for a period of time. But we would happily come back again and enjoy the dining experience and deliciousness of this wonderful gem.

My first time trying a tea room and it was… good. If you are in a large group (we were in a group of 5) you might have to wait for a table. The wait was about 10-15 minutes. The atmosphere inside was warm and inviting. The food itself was high quality. I ordered the rösti fish cake and it did not disappoint. However, I am only giving 4 stars due to the alcohol content in the food. If you are a Muslim (like me) and stay away from all forms of alcohol (like me), ask if any of the dishes you are ordering has alcohol in. I was surprised at how some dishes contained alcohol or some form of alcohol. For example, the hollandaise sauce and pickled onions contained white wine vinegar, the chocolate cube in the afternoon tea contained alcohol. The pickled onions was supposed to accompany the rösti fish cake but due to the alcohol content was replaced with a large serving of arugula salad. I don’t like arugula. So it was a waste. Other than that, it was a nice experience. I will come again for the afternoon tea.

I love visiting here! We only called into the shop on this trip, but the team were keen to help and the fat rascals are to die for! Well worth a visit, best to book for afternoon tea which I can confirm is lovely based on a previous visit. Nostalgic and traditional, a great place to visit

Glad we did it, food tastes amazing, setting brilliant, service was excellent but overall not worth the money for the afternoon tea. Maybe do the normal menu downstairs but hope you enjoy queues.

Nearly £20 for fish n chips more then half of the fish had thick batter and a very very small fish - then when the bill comes how cheeky to ask for GRATUITY - just add it to the bill and stop embarrassing your customers and staff.

I booked for afternoon tea and I will start by saying DO BOOK! We got there and the queue to just enter without reservation was at least 10 people long and on the way out the queue had extended around the corner so I can't emphasise enough that booking will make the experience much smoother. We were seated in a beautiful dining room on the first floor with an immaculate presentation and an in-house pianist whilst you ate. Your menu is already on the table for you and as we booked ahead we let them know I was coeliac so they had already prepared a Gluten free menu for me on the table. The waiter we had was very attentive, as soon as I said I was coeliac he knew straight away what that meant for me and did advise me there may be a risk of cross contamination, as is the case eating anywhere when gluten free, but I appreciated the knowledge and clear communication! The afternoon tea was excellent, my gluten free options were almost identical to the 'regular' options so I felt fully included! The menu was also almost identical which was lovely. The place is naturally a little bit more on the pricey side but this is perfect for a treat which is exactly what it was for me and my husband. I would say it's not ideal for children or young kids under the age of 12 just because of the atmosphere and setting. There's no parking on site but there is parking a short walk away at the Jubilee car park.

My husband booked this as a birthday treat, from start to finish was wonderful, waiting staff helpful and friendly, the food was amazing and even had a small birthday cake upon leaving. Sat in a premium.spot in the window upstairs and allowed more than allocated time as not to busy. A must book and go

Went to Betty's for breakfast. Never disappointed with this place. The food is always amazing. Called for a cake to take home,and there was plenty of choice.

Had the most amazing time at Betty’s. The food was delicious and I loved that they offer more sandwiches. Our server James was brilliant and hilarious too!

We have been coming to Bettys for over 20years and it has lost none of its charm but the quality has weined slightly whilst the cost has risen exponentially. They have done away with a number of favorites sometimes change for the sake of change is not a good thing. Service was good but could have been better asked for a glass of water on top of our other food and drink it took 3 attempts to get it and nearly 30mins. Overall it still worth a visit but remember to bring the bank with you.

Very expensive for so-so food. This is the UK equivalent of a maid/butler cafe in Japan. You are paying for costumed characters to serve you in dainty tableware. Any modern brunch place will serve better food and coffee but if you really fancy themed restaurants then this place is for you. With such prices, you can easily have a full course dinner in a modern British/continental restaurant instead. If I have foodie friends visiting whether local or from abroad, I avoid bringing them to this tourist trap. It's also a way to tell apart your friends who know their food Vs those that don't when you ask them what they think about Betty's.

What can we say apart from a fantastic experience. The ambience of the Imperial Room is exceptional, the quality of the food is superb, the attention to detail is impeccable, and the staff professionalism is outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience for my hubby's birthday. But I especially want to give big praise to our kind and patient server Karen, who went above and beyond what I'd expect to ensure the food didn't give me an allergic reaction. I also want to thank the amazing pianist, for playing our favourite song when we asked. She did it from memory, and without the actual music to read from. Just amazing, and it really made our day. Thank You Betty's. To say highly recommended wouldn't be good enough. We loved it. 😍

Really fantastic here. We came just to see it and so had some tea and cake. We got in straightaway around 11am but by the time we left there was a long queue. Staff were great and I enjoyed picking up a macaron on the way out.

We didn't have to wait to enter by arriving 9am Sunday

Simple, old-fashioned politesse with excellent food and service... a warm delight on a cold, winter's day. (We had to queue briefly outside so warm clothing was essential.)

Booked afternoon tea was able to have a table reserved downstairs due to mother in law unable to climb stairs as she is 95 years old and can't walk far. A big thank you. We will be back.

Our overall experience left us a bit underwhelmed. The hostess could have been more welcoming, and the cake selection could have been more extensive. On the positive side, our server was lovely, and the tea and cakes were quite tasty.

Truly beautiful and one of kind tea room experience. Everything on the menu tasted amazing and loved every detail. The kedgeree was probably the best thing we ordered along with the fish cake and scones. The earl grey tea was the bomb. My dish, the mushroom with the British hash (not sure what they actually call it), was pretty bland, but everything else was so good I overlooked it. Thanks, Betty’s!

Greeting wasn’t a happy inviting one. Unfortunately set the scene. The room was ok, although we were in front of the screens that hid the serving staff collecting crockery and cutlery. The Afternoon Tea was very disappointing, sandwich finger fillings not very tasty, the scones were miniature and the 4 desserts extremely small. You could ask for more coffee and sandwiches once. The pianist was exceptional.

I always loved this place but having an afternoon tea in the imperial tea room was special. They also accommodated my dietary requirements very flexibly. Fantastic atmosphere, fantastic service, fantastic food. What more can you ask for?🤗

Wonderful experience at Betty’s Harrogate afternoon tea! The ambiance was delightful, the service impeccable, and the selection of treats surpassed expectations. Absolute rip off shouldn’t be allowed to charge such ridiculous high prices , that’s showing no care for there customers just wanting to be greedy by ripping people off and filling there own pockets, there is no way them prices can possibly be justified the quality of food is nothing special, this place needs boycotting, they don’t deserve any customers total rip off robbery.

I was going to get a few gift vouchers as Christmas presents until I realised you can't use them online, very disappointing and a missed opportunity for Bettys I think.

Decided to have some Lunch out and I couldn't fault anything it was amazing! The only thing I was a little disappointed with was the service time waiting for my sundae but I'm happy overall would definitely be coming back soon when I visit Harrogate
