My husband and I love this place, food is always amazing, customers service is always 5 star and lovely owners. Highly recommend.

Good value for money, amazing staff, amazing food!! must go!!!!!!

Has parking spaces outside. Service of hot, plated food and toast items stops at 11 a.m. Really clean establishment. Takes both cash and card payments, but prefers cash. Confectionery, biscuits, crisps, bakes, hot and cold drinks, frappé and lattés, kids menu, salad boxes, sandwiches, wraps, falafel, burgers, kebabs and shakes. Reasonably priced menu. Vegetarian options available. Had veggie wrap to take out and tried one of the chocolate bakes - very good.

Go here most days for loaded fries, chicken gyros and now recommended breakfast gyros which is gorgeous. Great food and people well done.

Been going hear a while now and all i can say is Brilliant service from Kat and the girl had a few things from the menu now and the food has service has never let us down , my Daughter loves coming in and getting her food on a sat morning now will not use any other outlet for our food now Keep up the good work Girls

Was working in York and was eating from this place for a while and everytime it was spot on.

First time and came for coffee, milkshake and breakfast bun. All delicious and incredibly well priced. Service was friendly and place was cosy. Will definitely be returning :) thank you!

Driven past this place a load of times and persumed it was a sandwich shop! Didnt actually realise they did Greek food as well as full breakfasts! I had an halloumi gyro with chips and salad. It was so tasty 😋 I will definitely be going back regularly now! I will update with pictures next time.

The food is delicious and very fresh, the price is reasonable and the place is very close to campus East. I had halloumi on a pita bread, and it was wonderful. I need to come back, there's a lot on the menu that I want to try! Well worth a visit!

Really tasty food. Absolutely gorgeous. I found the girl that served me to be really polite but what I perceived to be management were very condescending of the 3 girls working - talking to them like they’re dirt. I appreciate retraining a lot is a drag but it’s part of the parcel of being a manager.

They don’t do breakfast after 11 but there’s nothing on their online menu or even in the physical shop telling you this. Came a long way, wasted journey

Grub is much better than the similar Ambrosia Greek Street Food York. Both in price and taste. The pitta shish wraps are lovely at Grub and much better than the above competior.

Drove 1 hour round trip to eat at Grub. Said it opened at 8am. Got there at 8:36am and it was closed!

Nice staffs, delicious breakfast.

Being a regular (1-3 times a week), the food is always consistently delicious, obviously made with TLC. Chicken gyros tastes just like home. It can get a bit busy during lunch time, but that's a testament on how good the food is. Highly recommended!

This place is VERY GOOD! Been here before for chicken Gyros (which are delicious!) But I neglected to do a review. Been back for breakfast today and everything was perfect; Friendly staff who were quick on service, the place is spotless and organised. The breakfast comes with a really nice 'Real' Coffee, not vending auto rubbish 😆. The breakfast was very reasonably priced and of good quality (I asked for the extra fried egg), and it came with decent toast, which makes all the difference when mopping up the plate! Brilliant visit, I highly recommend them!

Had the halloumi pita. 10/10 would get again

Food is always nice here. However, today I experienced the worst attitude from what I believe was a manager working there. They belittled a new starter working there infront of several customers with very little respect. Waiting times were poor however it was made worse when the manager was treating the new staff like they did. Instead of supporting and guiding through the process, it was instead a bad attitude and poor leadership which was very off putting as a customer. Felt sorry for the new starter, we were all new to our jobs at one time.

Probably the poorest service I’ve received from a cafe. Was the first time visiting today. Checked the menu and asked for halloumi , was questioned what type of halloumi I wanted and selected to go for the halloumi loaded fries. Visited with a friend who ordered the food at the same time, however, his came instantly, and the builders who came in after me all got served and left whilst I was still waiting. After over half an hour of waiting, my order had finally been shouted. Upon checking the order I was a bit puzzled and questioned why the fries were missing in the Halloumi loaded fries, but the person serving rudely responded that you should’ve read the description which is not the way to explain. It may have been mistake but the name was misleading, yet regardless this customer service certainly isn’t acceptable as it’s not the way for someone to be spoken to. Very unhappy with my experience and the way I was dealt with.

Amazing food for very reasonable prices! There's lots of options, whether you're in the mood for a gyro, a breakfast wrap, or just a portion of loaded chips! I'd definitely recommend going before 14:00, as it gets busy when all the students at the nearby school finish their school day. Very clean and cozy place with a few tables for seating, and my favourite place for breakfast by far!

First time visit - tried gyros loaded fries that were fresh and good portion. Good to see these vibrant, modern places. Seem to have extensive Cypriot-influenced menu.

Great food at great prices. The Gyros is excellent as are the loaded fries. Also not many places in York where you can get seekh/shish kebabs in pitta with chips and sauces, these are gorgeous. Give it a go. You won't be disappointed.

Great food at great prices! Loved the square sausage, a wee taste of home, and lovely coffee. The owners were so nice and chatty and offered loads of advice on how to do their wraps. I tried the DIY gyros wrap and it was so good! Didn’t need to get much to do it and it made a couple of lovely wraps. Was a lot of fun to make. Definitely worth trying! I will be buy them again. And again. And again…

First time I've been in the area at lunchtime and so popped in. A regular stream of customers were going in and out and all seemed to be regulars as they knew the menu and staff. I chose the gyros. Wow glad I did it was delicious. Everything is done to order but it was fast efficient service and friendly. The Greek pitta is perfect, fluffy and not stodgy and the oregano fries were great. Good size portion. Glad I don't live close it would be too much temptation. Totally see why it can get packed.

Having lived in Cyprus for over 15 years, I can honestly say this the best chicken Gyro I have tasted since coming back to the UK, bar none. I'm not easily pleased, but these guys have nailed it. Spotless clean, shop, friendly Cypriot speaking owners and a fast no fuss service, we are so lucky to have them so close.

This is maybe the best option for lunch in the area. Delicious food, professional service, excellent location and very clean. The prices are also very reasonable and the portions are of good size. £4 for a chicken gyros (must have) is a winner (considering that other place sell it for £6 or even £9 at the time of writing).

I am an awkward Customer, ordered two types of loaded fries to share, with cheese on one half of both (Dairy intolerance). No problem to them and they kept checking It was okay how they were doing it. And to boot the food was good and good value for money.

Don't recommend at all, waited 18 mins for a sausage and egg, however the 12 builders who came in after me all got served and left and am still stood waiting....shocking service and times....won't bother again. Zero stars is what I deserve

Lovely little take away eatery, short walk from the Travelodge on Hull Road in York. Excellent value for money food and a nice cup of coffee.

Use grub for breakfast once a week at work, never any complaints are we are a fussy bunch! And the gyros is our go to lunch.

With wait times of 20 - 30 minutes and the staff not answering the phone for a pre-order, Grub cafe is not viable for me. On my last visit (whilst queing for 20 -30minutes) I watched a young chemist girl, literally run back to her car, to try and regain some of her dinner break that the poor logistics of this facilitiy had robbed her of. Having complained ref the above, the male owner chased me out with a 'F*ck off'. It is glaringly obvious to anyone who's had to lose their dinner break, or if self employed lose £20's of income, that the management should purchase a 2nd cooking station, and employ someone else. The product is good, but the business is being stiffled by poor managemrnt, and unclassy behaviour...
