Halloumi in Glasgow City

We arrived 30mins early and staff were kind enough to let us have a table. Having recently spent time in Athens & Hydra I wanted to taste more of that beautiful Greek food, oh my god it was really great authentic food. They did fantastic cocktails too! I can't wait to go again.

Came for a dinner with a group of friends. I tried several dishes and I was pretty underwhelmed honestly. The portions are quite modest and the quality of the food isn't exactly exceptional. The prices are slightly higher and the food a bit worse than similar restaurants in the area, so I can't recommend this place.

Really nice Greek food and nice ambiance 🤘

We have been using this place for over a year now and had enjoyed decent food. However more recently had a really bad upset stomach 5 months ago with the King praws and chilli which prawns felt weird and should have returned them, and more recently with the calamari where both myself and daughter where serioulsy food poisoned and both lost 6 days out of our lives.Managment advised of issus and got refunded but will not be returning after these two incidents.

Wow! Food was absolutely incredible, tasting fresh, authentic, and full of flavour! Staff were kind and friendly. The space is beautiful, and an awesome atmosphere! Highly recommend visiting this absolute gem, we are so grateful to have found it. Thank you Halloumi Glasgow.

Disappointing experience with friends. We were asked when we were seated if we wanted the drinks menu and they’d come back and take our order. 45 minutes later, our drinks order was taken and we only had the table for two hours so then we still had to order food. There were food allergies in our party that were taken note of but then food still came to the table that had the allergens and when we mentioned this, a member of staff just shrugged his shoulders and was very dismissive. Once the food was sorted it was lovely but it all took so long that we didn’t have time to order dessert or another drink. Another disappointing move was our change from the bill wasn’t returned until we asked. A service charge had already been added to the bill and we had change to get back but it had been kept. Nice food but overall disappointed with the service.

Fantastic food and friendly service. Love the meze so you can have a variety of dishes. Everything fresh and tasty, and prepared quite quickly. Highly recommend.

Excellent authentic food. Was very busy when we were there but after the food order was taken, the food didn't take too long to arrive. Meze so lots of different dishes gotten and all perfect. Definitely recommend. Now my favourite Greek restaurant

A fabulous Greek restaurant in the middle of Glasgow. We had the express lunch menu which gave us lots of choice and we shared our food. It was delicious and great value for money. The staff were really friendly and efficient. It was reasonably busy at 2pm on a weekday. Really pleasant lighting and ambience.

Ero in viaggio da solo, ma lo consiglio anche in coppia e per una cena con pochi amici. Il servizio sufficientemente rapido e nella media in quanto a gentilezza, ma direi buono e non ottimo, per vie di piccole sviste sulle bevande. Lo consiglio e ci tornerei nuovamente

Lovely food and authentically Greek. The current fad of small plates is nice to try different dishes, but having 3 per person pushes towards expensive. But highly recommended all the same

We had a delicious meal. It was busy and yet we were able to eat quickly. We shared our dishes and everything was tasty. Definitely recommended.

Tasty food for decent prices! I’d recommend the halloumi gyros and the feta tempura. my partner had the calamari and a lamb gyros and he enjoyed them a lot as well!

Stopped in for a drinks and takeaway. The young brunette hostess was quite rude and didn’t speak at any point after taking the order. Each time she brought something out, she had an irritated look, but would immediately turn around and start talking and dancing with other staff members….The salad was good, but wouldn’t come back just based on the negative experience.

Moussaka was salty and the Stifado was tough but everything else was nice.

Wonderful place, with a great menu! I really loved this restaurant, for anyone who doesn't know Greek cuisine and is passing through Glasgow, Halloumi is the place to go!

This place on the Southside of Glasgow no longer exists !!! It closed down 4 months ago. However the venue has re-opened as the Torrisdale. The barman was very welcoming. We had their small plates for lunch and the food was very good 👍

A modern Greek restaurant with a tasteful and well thought out interior design. Not your standard mixed grill, but multiple mezzes to share with your company. The quality of the food was really good. Excellent choice for both vegetarians and meat lovers. Yamas!

Visited after reading previous reviews and weren’t disappointed. Service great and food was amazing, lovely atmosphere and setting.

Had the express lunch menu and it’s fantastic value for money. You get a lot of food so make sure you’re hungry. Food was also really tasty and the staff are really efficient and friendly. It’s a nice place too if it’s a work lunch, not formal but not a cafe either. Have recommended to a few people who like to have a more restaurant vibe for work lunches.

The food was alright but not good enough for the constant rush over our table time from pretty much the moment we arrived. The server was time checking us every 20 minutes which made it feel like I gulped down my lunch. Their card reader wouldn't work and the assumption was I didn't have any money in my bank. That's not good service in any place, technology does fail occasionally and rather than insult their customers they should bear that in mind. Will not be back

MOUSE IN THE KITCHEN ! I have been a customer to Halloumi (Glasgow City Center) for years and I have always been amazed by the food and service. I went two weeks ago, and it was an absolute disaster. I saw a mouse crossing the restaurant twice, so I advised the waitress and the Chef, who both saw it. A guy (I assumed he was the manager because he did not introduce himself) told me that he was calling someone. He never apologized and just brought the bill to our table since we were leaving. They offered no apology for a mouse running through the restaurant and their open kitchen, seeing chefs take photos and continuing with service, it was shocking. The main shock was the attitude of this manager, which was unapologetic unprofessional and almost aggressive when I brought it up. I have worked in hospitality for years, and this behavior has never been acceptable. Unfortunately, I’ll never come back.

Really good, great food, great atmosphere

Had a lovely meal with family. Service and the food were excellent. All the dishes we picked we all enjoyed. No room for dessert as was just too full.

A bit expensive, the meat was chewy and overcooked. The service was ok, but I didn't get any Greek vibes. Unfortunately, GYROS is only real in Greece!

We got here quite late (9pm) buy luckily they had a spare table. The staff were very efficient and the food was delicious. Only thing I can say that could be viewed as bad is that the suggested 3 dishes per person is a bit on the upper end of how much food it is comfortable to eat. Would probably say 4-5 dishes for 2 people.

Superb food with excellent service. Thought the drinks, the wine in particular, were a bit pricey..but otherwise a great experience.

perfect food, good atmosphere !

Loved the Halloumi in Strathbungo. Bright, airy, spacious, unhurried, easy parking. Halloumi Hope Street is tightly packed, airless, very loud, customers shouting over the music....tables small....plates crammed on to them... parking is a problem. Food mediocre at best. Very disappointing compared to our experience South Side. We won't be back. Staff, to their credit, unfailingly pleasant. If the owners had to decide which Halloumi should stay open...they chose the wrong one.

Our food and cocktails were all amazing. We got vegetable moussaka, halloumi and sweet potato burger, loaded halloumi fries, houmous and pitta and extra pitta between two and we *almost* finished it all.

They used to have a spot on the Southside that was large, relaxed and airy. This is the opposite. Tables crammed in with barely enough room for one plate let alone sharing plates, loud music and everyone jammed into a tiny space. Food was underwhelming (why add batter to halloumi?). Generally was a disappointment compared to our experience in the now closed location in Strathbungo.

Booked Saturday night. Arrived and had to wait for table to be set. Seated right beside a large noisy hen night party with the noise so loud we could not properly discuss menu and how best to order . The large hen party spoiled our night entirely and staff could do nothing about it. Staff were attentive and food was tasty. Menu could be a bit better explained as it appears that for main courses you only get what you asked for. EG meatballs you get 4 meatballs in sauce. Chops you only get the chops with some onion. No chips or potatoes or veg served with main dishes. So beware and think carefully about what you order. No need for restaurant to take large parties on a Sat night as restaurant would probably fill up. Sorry but we will not go back as the environment was exceptionally noisy and totally unsuitable for a meal with friends

Food 4.5**** Service 1* Not a personal criticism of the waitresses but more of the service culture of the restaurant. Rushed and impersonal, first they placed a bottle of wine at our table without even opening, let alone pouring it! We reserved a table of 4 for 1830 and spent about £180, they kicked us off the table after about 90 mins while a large group of 20 at the next table seemed to have unlimited time, and were made to feel like an inconvenience....

I consistently find the cuisine at this establishment to be highly enjoyable. My recent meal consisted of a Greek salad accompanied by tahini and tzatziki sauces, pita bread, olives, calamari, and pork souvlaki. The calamari was characterized by its crispiness and tenderness, while the pork exhibited a delightful tenderness and the distinctive flavour imparted by the barbecue grill, as is customary for this dish #foodie #greekfood

Excellent food. My partner and I shared 3 courses each. Portions are small but surprisingly filling and tastes amazing. Chicken Gyros, Stifado and halloumi fries definitely recommended!

First visit and it was good in the main. Seated straight away at our booking time and the server took the time to explain the menu. Food was excellent. Pork gyros. Chicken souvlaki. Meatballs. Loaded halloumi fries and the star for me...swordfish and prawn souvlaki. All good so far but things then took a little turn. We'd ordered an espresso and when dropping it off the server mentioned that they needed the table back in five minutes. Now that would be fine if the liqueur we ordered didn't take 10 minutes to arrive and then another 10 for the espresso which we actually had to chase up. If you want people to stick to 90 minutes you need to make sure you're on your game with the speed of service. Time was the only issue. All our servers were polite and friendly. It was a shame because the food was excellent but the end of the visit is what sticks in our minds. Would probably try again as the food was lovely.

Came here for my wife's birthday and it was fantastic. Quality of the football was outstanding, prices reasonable a service was first class. Will be back again...as again and again and again...

Just to list off a few of the main issues • Table was very cramped for 2 with drinks and plates of food • Food was sub paar at best, the tzatziki was very bland and the pitas were a bit overdone on the grill so we're rather hard • The gyros were decent although the chicken was a bit overdone, not as soft as I've has on my trips to trurky/greece/Cyprus. • Music was legitimately rap music at 5pm on a Sunday. I like rap but is this really fitting the mood? • Was a little dark considering its advertised as light There are other small things that do not need discussed but I think you get the point. Paying good money for a pretty average at best experience is kinda a shame. I am very fond of the food and frequent other traditional Turkish and Greek/Cypriot restaurants because they're always such a pleasure. Wouldn't return at all because it just isn't worth the money. The service was great and unfortunately the drinks were the best part of the experience. The Mango Daiquiri was amazing and watching the chef allow meat to catch fire and a server to go into the kitchen to point at it was also a highlight. I wish I was kidding.

The food was really good we were pleased with everything

Had heard mixed reviews from friends but really loved the menu so decided to go. The food is excellent, got a table which was a little cramped but the service was excellent. Lots of options to choose from, opted for 3 dishes each but the gyros was an overstep, was too greedy :-) Everything else was great, the deep fried feta with mango chilli (I think I've got that right) was immense, everything else was delicious. Great and very attentive service and very good value. Would probably prefer some other beers to choose from but the cocktails were excellent. Wouldn't hesitate to go back. If you find this useful please hit like, I'm trying to be an expert reviewer 🤣

Our first visit to this restaurant and we weren’t disappointed. We went just after 5pm and it filled up very quickly, so would advise to book. Food was delicious and staff pleasant and accommodating. Will certainly return and recommend. Ty 😀

We loved the variety of flavours in our food. Every dish was a hit. I was a big fan of the vegetarian options! Staff was very attentive and friendly. Honourable mention to the early naughties hip hop soundtrack playing when we were there.

The food was good and the place is pretty cool. Regarding the service, it could be improved. The waiter reproached us for arriving 10 minutes early, and brought us a beer that was not the one we had ordered, arguing that it was the same... (photo attached).

Went in to try their lunch deal. At £12.95 it’s not the cheapest if you add on a juice and a tip but not too bad! I got pitta bread with houmous, crispy calamari and halloumi bruschetta. Calamari was just okay but everything else was great. Really enjoyed the bruschetta. Server was also great, looked like she was on herself and she was doing a great job.

Beautiful setting cosy with good atmosphere I love all the small plates and the portion sizes are good, the staff will answer any questions about the food etc and are lovely I have been before and will return.

We were recommend to visit Halloumi on Hope street by a friend and had a great experience. After a long day trip shopping in Glasgow we had worked up an appetite and ready to feast. We booked a table of three people at 4:00pm for Saturday. Upon entering the restaurant was busy yet staff were attentive with a warm welcome before swiftly seating us at a table. The restaurant has a casual dining look with quirky Greek decor. Wooden seats were a little uncomfortable but could be easily improved with some cushions. The menu offered a great range of mezzo meat/seafood and veggie options to choose from. Our lovely waitress Katie recommend ordering 2/3 dishes each which was more than enough for three hungry dinners. The fried halloumi, keftedes - lamb meatballs, swordfish & king prawn souvlaki were all delicious. The Chicken gyros were good too but very large for a mezzo and more like a main. Even though the restaurant was busy, dishes were served quickly but at slightly different times, so some people were left waiting a little longer than others. Appreciate the kitchen area is small so they appeared to get dishes prepared and served quickly. Overall positive experience 9/10 and plan to return.

Had a really nice meal here, apart from the chicken gyros - the meat was so dry and overcooked it was actually unedible and was sent back. However, everything else was absolutely delicious and the staff couldn't have been nicer about it all.

Small Plates were decent. Halloumi Fries were decent. Calamari was stringy not crispy, chicken skewers were nice n tender. Service wasn't very evident but may b its city centre thing. Busy spot, booking is must.

I had one of the worst experiences eating “Greek food” i had salad and pork gyros, the salad didn’t taste anything, below average. The pork gyros was disgusting, probably cooked few days before, it was soggy and taste funny.

Let me start this review by saying, I never usually leave feedback on my experiences in the many restaurants I visit, generally I'm quite shy in terms of providing feedback. With that said, I hope you can understand my urge to make unknowns aware of this unfortunate visit. I booked this meal via 5pm for myself and my Fiancé, we arrived from the pouring Glasgow rain at 5:45PM and had booked the reservation via 5pm, needless to say, I was drenched through and my Fiancé was similarly soggy! We were both equally excited for a Gyro and cocktail on our arrival (as promised by the 5pm deal we had booked...) We were a little taken aback at the fact that the entire restaurant was empty on arrival, aside from one table with a lone female enjoying a private meal, the place was desolate. There was no music or ambiance on offer, I can only describe a feeling of dread and perceived shame as we entered what felt like a morgue. We were greeted by the mortician at the front door who instead of being a welcoming soul at the front of house, left us ice cold and ashamed of ourselves for not following protocol. We didn't get a "hello", or "how are you", just an icy cold stare from someone who clearly didn't want to be at work on a Monday evening. The employee then ignored us after showing us to our bleak and empty table, no offer of drinks or starters, also no sign of the 5pm menu that I'd expected. I approached this employee after a short confused discussion with my fiancé and asked him about our 5pm deal. He said, very abruptly and obnoxiously "You didn't tick the box on the 5pm booking! This time I will give you deal but next time please pay attention". This interaction was an example of absolutely disgusting and shocking customer service, it was only comparable to being berated by an angry head teacher. The whole experience left me embarrassed, deflated and belittled. This is NOT what you want when visiting a restaurant with your partner for a romantic date night! Considering there was NOBODY in the restaurant, was there any need for the imbecile at the door to talk to me like that!? I work in a customer focussed role as an IT Manager for a worldwide organization and I have NEVER in my all my career been so rude and arrogant towards a customer, needless to say, when visiting a restaurant, the employees who are supposed to make you feel welcome should have exemplary customer service skills! We left the restaurant without another word, absolutely shocked and reviled at what we had experienced. This male employee needs to be sent on a course to brush up his customer service skills, clearly not competent enough to work in such an establishment and if he takes this approach with all customers the establishment will not be in operation for much longer... Shocking, disgusting, a waste of a journey. Try Bloc+ bar around the corner!

Great service and food was Amazing… booked a table arrived and seated by our server. He went though the menu and explained how much to order and how things will come out. All food was amazing no empty plate.

Went as a group. Meals were delivered at various times, some considerably before mine arrived. When I queried if there was a problem then the male member of staff who I asked clearly was not bothered and made a curt reply to make sure his indifference was evident. I think there had been confusion with the order, hence the delay, but poor customer care. When the food did arrive it was over cooked.

Had the most incredible Greek food here. Our waiter Stuart was incredible! His hearty banter and friendly service topped off what was a truly lovely evening.

My partner and I booked a table for 8pm last Saturday. We arrived slightly earlier than our booking, and we politely asked if there was any chance their had been a cancellation and we could be seated early. We were very disappointed in the response we got from the man at reception. He asked “what time was your table booked for?”. When we replied “8pm” he said “well that’s what time your table will be ready” in an icy arrogant tone. We have been to halloumi numerous times but felt very disappointed on this occasion in the rude response from this member of staff. We felt slightly embarrassed after the response but chose not to react with any more words. We completely understand that there may have been no tables available, but it didn’t seem like any attempt was made at all to accommodate our request or to even check to see if we could get seated slightly earlier than our booking. The member of staff was cold in his response, arrogant, and condescending. Still not entirely sure why we got such a response. We felt totally unwanted and then told him to cancel our table. We left amazed at what just happened and simply decided to eat elsewhere.

One of the best places I’ve been to eat in a very long time. Freshly cooked tapas to die for served by a real Greek god of a man - top tasting dishes were Crispy Calamari, Feta Tempura, King Prawns and gorgeous dips topped off with ouzo to drink. Don’t miss out… you MUST try this restaurant for contemporary Greek eating and vibe.

Coming from a Greek, this place is extremely misleading. The official menu of this place contains a dish called 'gyros', however, when I opened the package, I was discombobulated to find two chicken sticks (kalamaki in greek). The sticks were also dry, tasteless and chewy which added to the disappointment. Do not recommend this place.

Lovely high quality Greek food from a very broad menu. We were a group of 6 celebrating a birthday. Service was very friendly from very polite and attentive staff. Wasn't cheap and the wine was a bit over priced. We were in on a Sunday afternoon in January, so it wasn't busy, bit quiet, no great atmosphere. All good though. Really enjoyed it and will definitely go back.

Returned to Halloumi after 4 years as family were back in town and we loved our first couple of visits. Beautiful food. Lovely staff. But seriously, turn down the music!! It was horrendously loud and really hard to hear anyone!! I like loud music but not when trying to eat with friends and family in a restaurant setting.

Recently dined early evening for dinner. Service was slow took a long time for our drinks order and food order to be taken and the staff were not busy but in no way attentive!! The food was excellent and loved all of it, due to the poor service we left when our food was finished to go for a drink elsewhere - improve the service and we will be back!

It’s just disappointing. Thats why its 1 star. It wasnt gross or vile, it was just didn’t have seasoning, didn’t have character, service was almost completly non-verbal, music was too loud, table was sticky, and when the bill for £83 came I felt fairly ripped off. Three of the five if us have worked as chefs with 18 years experience combined. To go item by item. Greek Salad- You can do it better at home, unremarkable, lacking salt, mainly red onion, for some reason slightly warm (???), watery salad tomatoes, low grade olive oil, and mid tier feta. When working with such simple ingredients they need to be of the best quality. Calamari- 8 pieces (£1 per ring) and they were tiny rings. Batter falling off, a garlic mayo that tasted like the one they serve in a chicken shop, tasted of bitter fryer oil (likely needs changing). Gyros Pork and Chicken- meat was dry and flavourless, no marinade? Felt like the scraps of the good cuts, tzatziki tatsed of cheap cream cheese mixed with mayo for some reason. I saw another diners review compare it to a wet nappy, I’d say this is correct. The halloumi version of the gyros was even more bland. Sweet potato burger- falling of the bit of slate tile it came on, the “salad” had some balsamic dribbled on it. Working in restaruants its easy to recognise the classic “brioche” catering services are always trying to sell, cheap, crumbly, and just a bit depressing. One slice of hallumi in the burger so you got a bite of it 30% of the bites. Sweet potatoe patty was forgetable and a waste of a chance to make something tasty. I know this is in glasgow and not corfu, but it cant be that hard to source greek ingredients and seasonings. Everything we got served was cold, in fact the greek salad was the only thing served in a heated dishes. Greek food deserves better representstion. If you want a good meal in glasgow go to SUGO. Prices are nearly the same and you can have a bice meal. We’ve had better gyros for £6 out a food truck next to a home base in norfolk. So better.

First visit to halloumi, on a busy Saturday lunch. All food was excellent, reasonably priced and served quickly. Service was friendly and timely. Restaurant was busy with lots of happy customers. Will definitely be back.

Food was lovely but service was average to poor. We were left waiting for ages to have our food cleared, and when asked if we wanted dessert, we were told that we only had 10 minutes left at our table. The waiter brought our desserts over after the time they wanted us out then told us he had gotten in trouble for letting us order dessert and that he shouldn’t have done it and the next table were complaining already. Not really information your guests need to hear. A poor end to what started out as lovely evening.

A most if your visiting Glasgow, great atmosphere, friendly attentive staff and delicious authentic cuisine. Cocktails were amazing. We got lucky without a reservation but I won’t risk it next time, book! We will be back

Lovely atmosphere and decor and very tasty food. They recommend 3 small plates per person, which does end up expensive. We all found that we didn't need that much food and one and a side was enough. The only downside we found was the rice...

Delicious food, lots of choice, great service and really friendly helpful staff. We had a fantastic meal and can't wait to go back. Don't order too many main dishes - the deserts are fantastic too.
