'Babs in Glasgow City

This is the second time at Babs for my wife and myself. Prompt service and the food is tasty and beautifully presented. The prices are also very good value. I recommend booking in advance though, as it can be very busy.

Just a short stroll from Glasgow Central, I went here for a ladies lunch on Saturday, and there were 5 of us. I got the Chicken Gyros, which was very tasty, and quite a sizeable portion! I didn’t realise that it came with fries in it, and I ordered an extra portion, which I couldn’t eat. Everyone enjoyed their meals. One of my friends thought the duck was a bit chewy, and the waitress quickly remedied this by offering a replacement dish. Someone else in our group also had the duck, which they said was lovely, so I’m guessing it was just a one off chewier bit of duck previously. We all ordered desserts, and the baklava was delicious. Quite a small portion, but I was glad of that after being full up from the main. There was a nice buzzy atmosphere in the restaurant, and I feel that you could happily go in here for a casual lunch/dinner as it wasn’t too fancy- more authentic and welcoming. The service charge was included in the bill, which we were happy to leave.

Brilliant breads, dips, gyros and wine! Busy wee spot close to central station. Great place for a catch up with friends. Service on point too.

Great wee place, gets very busy so definitely book. The food was great, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place.

Extremely Delicious Mediterranean Food

Brilliant restaurant. Lovely food, staff, service and atmosphere! Whole family enjoyed it. Good portion sizes too!

Booked those place as had heard good things about it. The food was good. Meal was rather spoiled as they seemed desperate to get you served and out. Thought they couldn't wait to give us the bill. I get it they were busy. But 2 girls sitting near us were allowed to take their time we felt rushed out.

Wanted something different in Glasgow, Scotland and searched restaurants near me and it led me to BABS. It is a small restaurant but on a Tuesday a 7pm we got the last table for two. The food was excellent and nicely priced. The service from Charlotte was prompt, efficient and she was very pleasant. I had chicken shish (pic) and wife had chicken Souvaki.

Ate at Babs today - we had no booking but Giovanni managed to find us a table. We had starters and main course which were all exceptionally fresh and tasty. The staff were great, helpful and friendly, the food appeared quickly and was hot. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone but do book beforehand. We shall return.

Managed to accommodate five guys on a Saturday afternoon and the kebabs we had were amazing and a mix of five dips. Look at my other reviews to see where I've been!

Recently me and a few friends visited Baps for a meal immediately upon entering we were sat by our wonderful server, Marco. After being enamoured by the tiled decor and homey atmosphere we were served our drinks. After reviewing the extensive authentic menu we settled on a starter of mixed hummus with pita, this dish came out in mere minutes after we were seated and definitely left us wanting for more. A few more sundries were on the table but the hummus is a must try! After this our mains came out I went for the chicken gyros wrap, this is now a favourite of mine after sampling many kebabs across the Glasgow area this has to be one of if not thee contender for the freshest kebab wrap I’ve enjoyed for many years. As a post meal treat we all opted to go for some cheesecake, the desert menu truly made me wish I had a second stomach to go for another serving.

Babs is a Greek style restaurant. It doesn’t have a massive menu which I usually think is a good thing. In the instance I was right as the kebabs were very tasty indeed. The place will not break the bank and provide decent ambiance and good food

Decent food, my daughter and I went for the set lunch menu that comes with a soft drink. Portions are not huge but plenty for a decent lunch.

Food lukewarm. No ice cream. Apparently the machine has been down for 2 days. No cream for desserts either. Wine pricey. Slow service and they automatic put on a 10% service charge on the bill. No soap in toilet.

The food was dry, plain and uneventful Mainly greasy wet bread no taste, awful. In Glasgow for 3 weeks must admit worse restaurant I have visited out of 10 so far and not the cheapest. Maybe is was because the waiter was telling everyone they close at 10 so food just rushed. Will never return Waitor was so rude to 3 Chinese girls

I'm an ambulatory powerchair user with a service dog. I didn't use my chair today, feeling pretty energised so went on foot. Minstrel was made to feel welcome, thanks guys. BABS in Glasgow, great location and great venue for my needs... The food was amazing too with a great menu choice, If you love Mediterranean cuisine this is a must. There is an easy access toilet and although there are steps inside the restaurant before reaching the steps there is an area suitable for those with mobility issues to access which gives a great view of the street for people watching and natural light. The place was immaculate, service was attentive, friendly and relaxed. Very tasty dinner with excellent authentic dishes

Generous portions and very authentic tasting shawarma, we sampled from the lunch menu and the prices were very affordable.

I never leave reviews but this was the best middle eastern food I have ever had! Amazing!!!

It's halal. And the food was nice. The vibe in there was amazing. Quiet place.

Came here for a lovely dinner with my husband on Saturday. I am not an expert with Greek cuisine, so wasn’t sure what to order. Thankfully Becky, our waitress, was more than accommodating. She recommended the chicken shiesh which was lovely. My husband had the lamb ascender (if I’ve spelt that right) which was also great. We were eating off of each others plates the food was just so good! The atmosphere was great. I will definitely be back, maybe with a bigger crowd. The service was remarkable, you can tell they care about their customers.

We found this restaurant thanks to Google reviews and we did the same because the meal was excellent. A truly Mediterranean menu with lots of flavors.

Severely disappointed. Being a huge lover and long time customer of the sister restaurant, Bread Meats Bread, I've been really looking forward to trying Bab's for a number of years. Sad to say that I'll not be back and after the treatment tonight, BMB has likely lost a customer also. We were hoping to order the Meze platter for two on a recommendation from other customers, however with not being a fan of seafood, we had asked if we could substitute the included prawn skewers for one of the other (same priced and independently available) skewers instead. The waitress was extremely unhelpful and told us simply "no, because the chef would throw a fit" and that "there is only one, you don't need to eat it" (incredibly wasteful and expensive during a cost of living crisis and a time during which most people are attempting to avoid food waste). Despite their unwillingness to be flexible, we appreciate we were asking for a small substitution and decided to still order it the platter. We spent a while choosing the two sides, only to be told when ordering that only a small number of them are actually included, despite the blatant false advertising on the menu that said they all were. It was at this point we decided to leave the restaurant. Whilst I appreciate that the waiting staff are not responsible for writing the menu, there is no excuse for the rudeness we encountered during this visit. Be warned, that Bab's even have the audacity to add a 10% service charge to reward staff for this behaviour.

Quality of food and portions lower than restaurants of the same type of cuisine. Also pay attention to the fact that the bill includes a 10% tip, it says opt (optional) but I didn't like it... I've been to other restaurants in the same city and it wasn't included, so it's not something I everyone does.

Babs is Fab!!! From entering to leaving we had a fabulous time. The food is Greek/turkish style and freshly made. We had Chicken Shish and Chicken souvlaki, both amazing dishes full of flavour and so fresh. Staff are amazing! Becky, our waitress was so helpful and truly funny! We went with her recommendations and were delighted with the outcome!! We would 100% recommend this restaurant

Food was really poor quality. Tasteless, cold, didn’t feel like the veg was fresh. Too expensive for the tiny potions you get, there are plenty more restaurants within walking distance of much better value. The atmosphere and service were great, but the food was awful. I won’t be back and I don’t recommend.

I've been here twice over the last two months, and the food is lovely, but very salty—and I like salty food, so for me to find it this salty makes me wonder what others think! I recommend the small plates and sides to benefit from all the flavours. The falafel hummus small plate and the feta courgette balls are amazing!

Dreadful just dips. Two courses little meat £100 won't be back. Service was good.

I didn’t get to try the food so this review is service only. We came in and let them know we needed to be in and out within about 45 minutes and said to let us know if they couldn’t accommodate this, they said it should be fine. We were seated immediately and had our drinks orders taken. After 20/25 minutes of trying to hail the server and being told several times they’d be with us in a moment we had no choice but to pay for our drinks and leave. We didn’t have time to finish our drinks so that was £12 straight down the drain. I can’t help but feel the least they could’ve done is not charged us for the drinks, working in a restaurant myself it’s what I would have done after letting down potential customers.

Staff member helped keep save a vurnerable person across the street who was being abused and made sure they were safe. Never tried the food but if it's anything like their civility and compassion it will be brilliant

It lists Mediterranean food but it is more Greek than what we Spaniards usually understand by Mediterranean food. Delicious, yes. We ate wonderfully as a family. We all liked it a lot. The guys who served us were super friendly. They have a menu for just over £13 which is very good. Well located. I recommend it.

Delicious!! Will definitely be going back. The adults on our table had the chicken gyros which was stuffed and so delicious. The kids had grilled halloumi and cheeseburger but of which they ate happily 😊 We also had the four dip starter with bread - yummy!

Great menu. Flame grill Meat cooked to order (rare to well done). Nice beer selection and warm Mediterranean decor. Highly recommended 👌🏻

Perhaps not the best gyro/kebab-in-a-wrap place in Glasgow (a certain Royal has that title) but decent food, served with a smile and without a huge wait.

This is a fantastic Mediterranean restaurant. We arrived 15 mins early and we were seated straight away. We ordered a few small plates and a main to share. The small plates are actually what I would consider a main size, very generous portions. Everything was soooo tasty! Cannot fault it. Service was great, prompt and friendly. Place is quite buzzy as well, good atmosphere. Cannot wait to go back and try some other things.

When I came with my friends to this restaurant, it was busy and we haven’t booked a table, but the guy was very nice. They were actually two of them. I think I remember one of them name was Marco. His service was very good. We waited 15 minutes, then we were served to a table, the food was delicious and it was quick. We had actually enjoyed eating at this restaurant. They had a lot of Halal options which made it much easier for us to choose.

Absolutely gorgeous food at a reasonable price. Only thing is they charge service charge at the end and include it in the bill which I found a bit sneaky.

Really nice restaurant with a cosy vibe. We got a halloumi wrap, chicken souvlaki and a beef gyros, which were both delicious and huge portions! The parmesan chips and pitta bread with dip were tasty as well. Loads of good veggie options. Very reasonable prices and staff are welcoming and friendly. Will be back!!

Ordered chicken gyros from lunch menu, cold, dry tasteless chicken. Asked for it to be warmed up… said I didn’t want a new one, a new one was sent and it was worse … had all the dry cold crispy leftovers. The deal came with chips that were also cold. Then charged £2 for a very very small mayonnaise pot. Very disappointing. Definitely not a restaurant. Gave it 2 stars because the young girl who served us was lovely.

Food was disappointing which was a shame as we have enjoyed going here before. Unfortunately our chips were cold and the chicken was a bit overcooked and dry. Service also wasn't as good as previously. Felt like the portions were also a bit small.

Food was fantastic. Not keen on the draught coke. Would've preferred a bottle or can. Two of us felt like we were pushed into a corner when there were plenty of other seats available but overall good.

Halal restaurant apart from the burgers. Really nice interior decoration and very friendly waiter who recommended the 5 us food for sharing. We had the chicken and lamb hummus shawarma, lamb iskender, chicken shish and ravasaki. Food portion was decent and presentation was good. Food taste wise would give a 7/10 l

It was the better Half's Birthday and decided that only here is good enough to treat my fine lady. Excellent service, drinks and food. Tried a few non alcoholics as had to drive home later, but this just meant I was more in the mood to enjoy my fantastic lamb dish. Stepped out of my comfort zone and tried something a little different since it was a special occasion. Life is about new experiences, and I'm glad I did. 10/10

Great Mediterranean food here! Reminds me of the Greek food I had in Singapore. The waiter (forgot his name) was very friendly and gave recommendations very quick. Is as though he knew the menu at the back of his hand. We ordered Lamb Iskender, Beef Schwarma, Chicken Iskender and Hummus Chicken Schwarma. We also had a fried feta cheese on the side. The fried feta cheese we had was something really new to me. It seems that it has a sugar drizzle, which adds more flavour to it. The other dishes had great taste, and had their own personality. All these dishes were recommended by the waiter, so do not hesitate to ask him! Overall, great Mediterranean food. I am personally okay with Mediterranean food, but some may not appreciate the taste of it. Do try it out!

Service was quick and friendly. The food came and the flavours were delicious and you can taste the freshness of the meat straight from the grill. Prices are very fair for what you get and I would definitely come back.

Whole experience destroyed by being forced to pay optional service charge. I really like to tip services but not this time and I don't think anytime soon...

Don’t underestimate the validity of dips as mains! Top notch quality scran. I really enjoy giving over my power of autonomy to the man to pick the dips for me, especially when he brings them with such lovely bread. Best scran in glasgee! (After chicken pakoras at 2am) Dip dip dob

Randomly went to eat, and loved it. Service was also amazing, food was top-notch. Tried baklava as well but it’s not worth the price, but loved it.

Everything was delicious, it’s a little hidden gem. The meats were cooked to perfection and everything was deliciously seasoned.

The service was great but the food was disappointing. We came here about 5 years ago and had lovely memories, but this time the meat wasn't tender and my husband deliberately ordered a dairy free option from the menu which turned out to be covered in yogurt. We didn't feel like the price reflected the quality unfortunately.

Visited today with my partner. The interior is very dark and dingey, not ideal for a sunny day. My partner and I both ordered gyros, I had the vegan one and having the vegan option is the only reason for the second star. The food was average, quick enough to be brought out. When the bill arrived the waitress had charged my partner for the lunch deal which he had not asked for which made the meal more expensive, they rectified this. They charged £2 for an extremely tiny pot of chilli sauce which I’d expect to be free or much less pricey for a standard condiment in a Greek restaurant. Overall the food was average, the pricing was not on par with the food quality and the atmosphere was lacking. Disappointed parents who rarely get a chance to eat it together!

Visited this restaurant after seeing the 4.5+ star rating, and recommendations on gluten-free websites. Their gluten free menu is essentially just the normal menu with check marks next to items which are gluten free - fair enough. However, each item arrived with non-gluten free ingredients, I had to explicitly ask each time to remove pitta, etc and remove or substitute with an alternative despite letting them know in advance. Further to this, drinks arrived after the starters were finished (because the waiter forgot to submit my drink order), and whilst the meats and dips were good, the sides were bad - store bought pickle cut in quarters, and standard red cabbage. I still opted to pay the 10% optional service charge as I know some folks in the industry rely on this to maintain a living wage, but did not feel this was well-deserved.

Chicken Souvlaki was dry dry dry and no taste. The tomato’s and onions were NOT fresh. The tzatziki was NOT dusted with paprika and the chips were cold and hard. They charge 10% for service charge i felt robbed as the food was better when i tried it a while back. A small bowl of skin on fries £4.50 that’s a rip off was the smallest bowl and not even filled properly. I feel the quality of the food has cheapened or they are cooking the food and reheating, but it was not fresh and warm. £47 for 2 people can find better else where. I should have complained but it’s awkward sending food back!

Ripped Off. Have been going for a while and it's always been 5 stars. Went in for the lunch menu which was advertised outside £13. Beef wrap - beef was chewy, cheap, a couple of lettuce leaves, tasteless rubbish. Not much better than a Tesco Meal Deal wrap. After asking for Garlic Mayo or Hot Sauce I was charged £4 for dips. No mention of a charge at the time, was just wanting some sauce for the dry chips. 30% of the bill was spent on condiments total madness. Shame that this was a very negative experience, wont be back.

Best restaurant in Glasgow! My friends showed me this place as they are from the Balkans. Since then it’s been our weekly meeting point for a year. The service is always excellent and the food is delicious. You cannot leave without trying their Chebabs!

The best value for money someone can get in Glasgow. Great quality food for a reasonable price. The ajvar, tzatziki, tirokafteri, chebabs, chicken souvlaki, kolokithokeftedes are a favorite, and resemble very well what I eat back home in Greece. The service is as excellent as the food. Disappointing dinner, had read good things about it but lamb iskender dish extremely underwhelming, very little lamb and what there was extremely tough. Felt very expensive overall for what it was. Maybe we just ate on a bad day.

Beef was tough and dry but the service crew was nice to replace with a chicken for me.

Tight seats, 50 mins wait for a wrap.. when I finally got ir, the wrap was cold and hard to chew. I can see the potential.. I was probably unlucky?

Got a take away and paid £15 for this! 2 pieces of grilled chicken and a baby portion of couscous, not happy with this at all
