'Babs in Glasgow City

First time visiting before a cinema trip with friends. Lovely atmosphere and vibe. The food took a little longer than expected (perhaps I was just hungry after smelling the food) but was well worth the wait! Had the chicken gyros and a side of halloumi fries which came with some very tasty dipping sauce. Would highly recommend and worth another visit!

This is the 3rd time I've been here for food, and it never disappoints. Great service ,tasty food which comes in large portions,good cocktails and great atmosphere. The staff work hard and are engaging and friendly. I have many things to try on the menu, but what I have tried has been excellent, I often get FOMO from seeing some of the other plates coming out. Great for groups, duos, or individuals I would recommend booking as it's always busy when I visit.

I can sum this up simply by saying excellent food, large portions and great value overall. Try the meze next time if you struggle to make your mind up. Second visit now and not my last. Well done BABS.

Great food, great service and great value. The dip platter was absolutely delicious - the Baba Ganoush is a must try. Been twice now, at lunch time and dinner, and both times it has had a lovely atmosphere, excellent food and attentive staff. Will be back!

This is the first time I’ve ever left a Google review, despite eating at hundreds of restaurants over the years—but I felt compelled to because of the rudeness of the waiter. Upon arrival, I was shown to a table right next to a very large group, with tables packed closely together. When I politely asked to sit at a different table, the waiter muttered under his breath, “There’s no difference.” I found this incredibly rude and unprofessional. The food itself was okay, but the poor attitude left a lasting impression. I wouldn’t return based on the service alone.

Shocked and stunned to realise, after I got home, that these sneaky buggers slip in a hefty and arbitrary service charge in your bill. Here's me trusting them and tipping the waiter only to realise at home I'd been leeched unfairly. Yes it says "OPT" on the ticket, but this is sneaky and very disappointing. Especially after such a pleasant visit. Very disappointing.

I come to Glasgow every couple of months or so for work, I’ve now visited Babs around half a dozen times as a solo diner so feel it is about time I left a review. All I can say is every time I eat anywhere else in Glasgow I wish I’d just gone to Babs instead, the lamb is to die for and the portion sizes are plentiful. The staff are always ever so friendly and the German abk is also a rather nice drop!

Fantastic place to eat, the food is excellent, great friendly atmosphere and very attentive staff! Highly recommended! We had the chicken gyros wrap and lamb shish with the garlic Parmesan fries, chicken shish skewer with house chilli sauce and it was all magnificent and very tasty! 😋

We had an incredible first experience in Glasgow all thanks to BABS! The staff were outstanding, providing top-notch service, forgot the name of the lovely lady who explained everything and took the time to talk to us about places to visit and such. And let me tell you, the food was absolutely mouthwatering—every bite was a delight! Worth the visit!

Phenomenal food and portions and great value for money. I would have given 5 stars for service, but the lad who served us forgot the order, then came back to ask again, then served my partners food and I had to ask where mines was after 10mins. That being said, it was resolved quickly and worth the wait, but not sure the young lad has much customer service skills. Didn't put us off and would certainly return, however, wouldn't be transparent or honest if I said all was 5 stars.

It was my first time eating Mediterranean food, and the combination of cheese, meat, vegetables, and rice was very good.

If you don’t eat here then you will have missed an amazing experience. Not only is the food awesome, the staff are unbelievable! I live in Greece and turkey and this ranks on a par with food my friends cooked. Stop reading and book a table!

We popped in for lunch today as we had seen the lunch menu online, which was a main meal and a drink.Unfortunately we were not given a lunch time menu so we ordered from the main menu. The food was alright, portion sizes were good and it tasted pleasant enough. Staff were friendly and the restaurant was clean. The only really annoying thing was where we were seated. I could definitely feel a vibration from the floor below. It was vibrating through the table and my seat to the point where I eventually felt sick. I spoke to the waiter who said it was due to the air-conditioning unit under the floor and he said it affected a few tables. You could actually feel the table vibrating and it was an unpleasant sensation. I was glad to leave as it was very off putting. I wouldn't go back because of this.

Merveilleux restaurant de l'accueil au dessert !! On y mange très bien, hoummous préparé de différentes façons, excellent. J'ai pris un plat à base d'agneau, cuisson maîtrisée. Les cocktails sont délicieux. Un restaurant où règne la joie et la bonne humeur, et en plus on y mange très bien

Strongly recommend this place cause I tried the Chebabs, and it was so tasty! However, it was a tiny salty for me. The Felafel and Iskandar Kebab were great, too.

No hay comparación tristemente y Döner Haus sigue siendo un lugar tristemente perdido. Tenía un Lamb Shish, que era una pila tibia de nada. Un amigo tenía hamburguesa Kofta, que parecía estar bien, mientras que el otro tenía Kofte de ternera, que disfrutaba. Ambiente bien, asientos y mesas un poco básico, en general bien, pero no vale la pena volver.

Great place. The food is absolutely great. Delicious. I ordered the halloumi gyro wrap, which was delicious and had lots of flavour. Halloumi was one of the best had. Staff were very nice, but was a tiny bit hard to get their attention. They forgot about the ice cream that comes with the kids meal but that might have been just because I didn’t remind them☺️. Will recommend definitely.

We were lucky to get a table for 4 at short notice for late lunch on a Sunday. 1 order from the kids menu and the rest from the main menu. My 10 year old finished the ‘best burger he has ever had’ and also his extra chicken skewer. The other food was a mixture of lamb shish, chicken cous cous and gyros. All cooked to perfection. The plates are deceptively large. We ordered sides of halloumi fries and skinny fries. Shared between the 4 of us Everyone enjoyed the fresh, well cooked food, which was served by friendly attentive staff. We can’t wait until our next visit.

Food was absolutely brilliant. Service a little inattentive, but, it was busy, so can be forgiven. Meze for two is great value for money, and every element was fabulous.

I've been here twice now and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. Admittedly not my favourite cuisine but I was on a work lunch and the food was great. I opted for a side of rice which was lovely, my colleagues got chips and said they were okay. Service was great, greeted on arrival, prompt delivery of the menus, drinks came quickly and then the food was cooked freshly but didn't take too long to come. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

Ordered the chicken souvlaki and it was overcooked, dry, tasteless and generally disappointing. Accompanying bits on the side also uninspired. It was really poor and I wouldn't encourage anyone to eat here, unless it was just an off night. But only a fool would return to a place that serves up such unimaginative, overcooked fayre. Must be another place in Glasgow still dining out on past glories.

Excellent, fresh food. Portion sizes are large enough to fill you up but not too much. This restraint is so good, I went in person last night for a staff night out and, ordered online tonight to let the family try. They all loved it. 10/10.

visited for the first time yesterday — had booked a table & the staff were really lovely to accommodate an extra person last minute. we did have the last member of our party arrive about 15 mins after our reso time due to a delayed train, but were ready to order within a few minutes of her arrival unfortunately, this delay prompted our server (didn’t get his name but a man in his 30s with facial hair, wearing black button up shirt) to be quite rude to us, rushing us to order in a very direct and unkind way, even telling one of our friends that “she’s okay with water” and not allowing her speak long enough to order a drink? he also seemed frustrated that we didn’t order more food, despite each getting a drink and main off the menu. i totally get upselling as we all work or have worked in hospitality, but we were shocked by the way he spoke to us / treated us. his attitude was really off putting and put a damper on our night. we felt rushed and as though we were not welcome there. he was also seemingly quite rude to the table behind us. he did seem to try to be a bit friendlier later in the night but it just came off as disingenuous by that point that said, food/drinks were great & came out quickly, no issues there!! also, special shoutout to becky — she was SO lovely and took photos for our table + got the bill for us as we were totally put off interacting with our original server. genuinely our night was made by her lovely energy & kindness!! <3

I never really can be bothered writing reviews online, but I feel people need to be warned about this tourist trap. They must have either been good in the past or have a lot of fake reviews, because a 4.5 star rating makes no sense. I can't comment too much on the service and atmosphere, as I had a takeaway, but the woman who took my order was friendly and nice. Ordered the beef (Yaprak) doner, which they advertise as consisting of thinly sliced beef. As a result, i was quite surprised when I tried the doner and found it to be full of big chunks of chewy beef of a size I have never seen in a doner before. The meat was not flavoured in anyway at and the salat and greens were very limited, but it had a big gherkin (!?) in there though. Honestly never had a chewy kebab before, and I have had quite a few having lived in the UK for nearly 20 years, but this takes the prize as the by far worst doner I ever had. Called the shop to see if I had maybe gotten wrong order by mistake, but they answered it was indeed the Yaprak beef doner I had ordered. In fairness, they offered a refund if i could come by the shop again, but that was not possible though.

Tasty food and lovely staff. Fairly reasonably priced. The only thing I wanted for was a wee dod of complimentary hummus. Other than that, great place.

Went for lunch, good verity on lunch menu with drinks included in set. We had a wrap and lamb skewers, served with rice and chips, we got complimentary side of toasted bread with olive oil which was a nice touch. The food was was pretty mediocre, the meat in both dishes were a bit dry, was hoping for juicy and tender grilled meat. I had to ask for chilli sauce there was NO CHILLI sauce in either dishes which I thought was absolutely criminal!!! Then I was charged an extra £2 for the smallest serving of chilli sauce which was so watered down it tasted like a tomato juice. Overall okay but don’t get your hopes up. Don’t think it’s a true 4.5 star review from Google…

Very good food, pretty authentic, friendly and fantastic service as well as the decor!

Very busy even on a Tuesday night, but with a short wait they managed to fit us in. The food and service was great. No long delays with both food and drink coming quite quickly and everyone enjoying their choices. Prices were not unreasonable for Glasgow city centre and portion size satisfied all.

Ive been to Babs twice on visits to Glasgow and find the food to be very flavoursome and generous portions at a reasonable price. What more can you ask for?

This is my second visit to Babs (although im in Glasgow for only 4 days), and it’s just as great as the first! The halloumi sticks are my favorite – perfectly crispy and so tasty. The chicken was juicy and full of flavor. Marco was super friendly and made me feel really welcome. Can’t wait to come back!

Delicious, fun, great service and value for money. We had chicken shawrma shared starter..Delicious, for mains best chicken shish I have ever had in my life, served with rice and veg.. yum! My husband had beef donner wrap which he loved. The wine was delicious and we both loved the cold town baltic beer. We both had desert, baklava and affogatto. Also had coffee and liquor. Left happy, stuffed and slightly merry. Worked out at £46 each. Great value. Will be back.

So I have been working in Glasgow for a month on and off (based in manachester) was recommended by a Greek colleague. Doesn’t disappoint. Third time here and it’s awesome. Great service, tasty food. My only criticism is that it’s a small venue and can get loud. But that’s more of a note on how loud Scott’s can be 😂👍

Excellent food in a casual and quiet atmosphere. We were not so lucky yesterday when it was packed! But we are happy we tried again. A great stop for an affordable and filling lunch.

We had such a great experience in Babs. We got the mezze for 2 which was just stunning. 4 skewers of meat with roasted veg, pitas with x4 dips of choice and x2 sides aswell! We loved everything about our meal. Looking forward to coming here again.

This is the second time at Babs for my wife and myself. Prompt service and the food is tasty and beautifully presented. The prices are also very good value. I recommend booking in advance though, as it can be very busy.

Just a short stroll from Glasgow Central, I went here for a ladies lunch on Saturday, and there were 5 of us. I got the Chicken Gyros, which was very tasty, and quite a sizeable portion! I didn’t realise that it came with fries in it, and I ordered an extra portion, which I couldn’t eat. Everyone enjoyed their meals. One of my friends thought the duck was a bit chewy, and the waitress quickly remedied this by offering a replacement dish. Someone else in our group also had the duck, which they said was lovely, so I’m guessing it was just a one off chewier bit of duck previously. We all ordered desserts, and the baklava was delicious. Quite a small portion, but I was glad of that after being full up from the main. There was a nice buzzy atmosphere in the restaurant, and I feel that you could happily go in here for a casual lunch/dinner as it wasn’t too fancy- more authentic and welcoming. The service charge was included in the bill, which we were happy to leave.

Great wee place, gets very busy so definitely book. The food was great, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place.

Booked those place as had heard good things about it. The food was good. Meal was rather spoiled as they seemed desperate to get you served and out. Thought they couldn't wait to give us the bill. I get it they were busy. But 2 girls sitting near us were allowed to take their time we felt rushed out.

Wanted something different in Glasgow, Scotland and searched restaurants near me and it led me to BABS. It is a small restaurant but on a Tuesday a 7pm we got the last table for two. The food was excellent and nicely priced. The service from Charlotte was prompt, efficient and she was very pleasant. I had chicken shish (pic) and wife had chicken Souvaki.

Ate at Babs today - we had no booking but Giovanni managed to find us a table. We had starters and main course which were all exceptionally fresh and tasty. The staff were great, helpful and friendly, the food appeared quickly and was hot. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone but do book beforehand. We shall return.

Managed to accommodate five guys on a Saturday afternoon and the kebabs we had were amazing and a mix of five dips. Look at my other reviews to see where I've been!

Food and drinks are great and excellent service! Favourite restaurant in Glasgow

Recently me and a few friends visited Baps for a meal immediately upon entering we were sat by our wonderful server, Marco. After being enamoured by the tiled decor and homey atmosphere we were served our drinks. After reviewing the extensive authentic menu we settled on a starter of mixed hummus with pita, this dish came out in mere minutes after we were seated and definitely left us wanting for more. A few more sundries were on the table but the hummus is a must try! After this our mains came out I went for the chicken gyros wrap, this is now a favourite of mine after sampling many kebabs across the Glasgow area this has to be one of if not thee contender for the freshest kebab wrap I’ve enjoyed for many years. As a post meal treat we all opted to go for some cheesecake, the desert menu truly made me wish I had a second stomach to go for another serving.

Decent food, my daughter and I went for the set lunch menu that comes with a soft drink. Portions are not huge but plenty for a decent lunch.

Food lukewarm. No ice cream. Apparently the machine has been down for 2 days. No cream for desserts either. Wine pricey. Slow service and they automatic put on a 10% service charge on the bill. No soap in toilet.

The food was dry, plain and uneventful Mainly greasy wet bread no taste, awful. In Glasgow for 3 weeks must admit worse restaurant I have visited out of 10 so far and not the cheapest. Maybe is was because the waiter was telling everyone they close at 10 so food just rushed. Will never return Waitor was so rude to 3 Chinese girls

I'm an ambulatory powerchair user with a service dog. I didn't use my chair today, feeling pretty energised so went on foot. Minstrel was made to feel welcome, thanks guys. BABS in Glasgow, great location and great venue for my needs... The food was amazing too with a great menu choice, If you love Mediterranean cuisine this is a must. There is an easy access toilet and although there are steps inside the restaurant before reaching the steps there is an area suitable for those with mobility issues to access which gives a great view of the street for people watching and natural light. The place was immaculate, service was attentive, friendly and relaxed. Generous portions and very authentic tasting shawarma, we sampled from the lunch menu and the prices were very affordable.

Came here for a lovely dinner with my husband on Saturday. I am not an expert with Greek cuisine, so wasn’t sure what to order. Thankfully Becky, our waitress, was more than accommodating. She recommended the chicken shiesh which was lovely. My husband had the lamb ascender (if I’ve spelt that right) which was also great. We were eating off of each others plates the food was just so good! The atmosphere was great. I will definitely be back, maybe with a bigger crowd. The service was remarkable, you can tell they care about their customers.

We found this restaurant thanks to Google reviews and we did the same because the meal was excellent. A truly Mediterranean menu with lots of flavors.

Severely disappointed. Being a huge lover and long time customer of the sister restaurant, Bread Meats Bread, I've been really looking forward to trying Bab's for a number of years. Sad to say that I'll not be back and after the treatment tonight, BMB has likely lost a customer also. We were hoping to order the Meze platter for two on a recommendation from other customers, however with not being a fan of seafood, we had asked if we could substitute the included prawn skewers for one of the other (same priced and independently available) skewers instead. The waitress was extremely unhelpful and told us simply "no, because the chef would throw a fit" and that "there is only one, you don't need to eat it" (incredibly wasteful and expensive during a cost of living crisis and a time during which most people are attempting to avoid food waste). Despite their unwillingness to be flexible, we appreciate we were asking for a small substitution and decided to still order it the platter. We spent a while choosing the two sides, only to be told when ordering that only a small number of them are actually included, despite the blatant false advertising on the menu that said they all were. It was at this point we decided to leave the restaurant. Whilst I appreciate that the waiting staff are not responsible for writing the menu, there is no excuse for the rudeness we encountered during this visit. Be warned, that Bab's even have the audacity to add a 10% service charge to reward staff for this behaviour.

Quality of food and portions lower than restaurants of the same type of cuisine. Also pay attention to the fact that the bill includes a 10% tip, it says opt (optional) but I didn't like it... I've been to other restaurants in the same city and it wasn't included, so it's not something I everyone does.

Babs is Fab!!! From entering to leaving we had a fabulous time. The food is Greek/turkish style and freshly made. We had Chicken Shish and Chicken souvlaki, both amazing dishes full of flavour and so fresh. Staff are amazing! Becky, our waitress was so helpful and truly funny! We went with her recommendations and were delighted with the outcome!! We would 100% recommend this restaurant

Food was really poor quality. Tasteless, cold, didn’t feel like the veg was fresh. Too expensive for the tiny potions you get, there are plenty more restaurants within walking distance of much better value. The atmosphere and service were great, but the food was awful. I won’t be back and I don’t recommend.

Food was sooo good! Really nice staff, served quickly and everything was clean!

I've been here twice over the last two months, and the food is lovely, but very salty—and I like salty food, so for me to find it this salty makes me wonder what others think! I recommend the small plates and sides to benefit from all the flavours. The falafel hummus small plate and the feta courgette balls are amazing!

Dreadful just dips. Two courses little meat £100 won't be back. Service was good.

I didn’t get to try the food so this review is service only. We came in and let them know we needed to be in and out within about 45 minutes and said to let us know if they couldn’t accommodate this, they said it should be fine. We were seated immediately and had our drinks orders taken. After 20/25 minutes of trying to hail the server and being told several times they’d be with us in a moment we had no choice but to pay for our drinks and leave. We didn’t have time to finish our drinks so that was £12 straight down the drain. I can’t help but feel the least they could’ve done is not charged us for the drinks, working in a restaurant myself it’s what I would have done after letting down potential customers.
