got a large mixed kebab and all it was in it was dooner meat and chicken. would like to know what is supposed to be in a mixed kebab. waste of money again, like eating rubber

This place is a shambles. Cannot even chop garlic to put on your pizza and menu prices are not what you are charged. Girl serving was lovely but ran off her feet. Bet she gets paid next to nowt as well for her effort. Very disappointed visit from a local.

Pizza was greasy Chips were greasy IT cost £30! For 3 pizzas and chips! And chicken wings unbelievable

chips and curry were like mush and off taste, my veg pizza only had onions and cheese and thats all but was very stale taste, onion rings were not consumable, hole tea was binned half way through eating. waste of £20

Two guarantees with Halikarnas- your food will late and cold. Pizzas are always undercooked. Only had good reviews because most people are eating here after the pub. Management need to sort their business out.

I will never go here again. Food is poor service is slow.

Pakora was mostly big chunks of batter with tough chicken inside. Had to bin.

We are regulars to hallicanas and the food is. Always great, unfortunately the service is usually slow even if we pre order they don’t make the order until you arrive even when it is paid in advance. I decided it wasn’t worth pre ordering tonight and stood at the counter to order after being totally ignored by the 3 staff who stood chatting together for over 10 we left and went elsewhere. I’m afraid no matter how good the food is I won’t be back.

Halikarnas, Castle Douglas on this night was terrible, food arrived very early and my chip n curry were very cold my fish was cold and so were the onion rings, terrible when I’m so much money

Currently, holidaying it up in Castle Douglas, where the choices of takeaway are few and far between, we decided on this for tonight's tea. Whilst others in the family decided on the local Thai and Chinese houses, a few of us wanted pizza. Ordering was fairly simple through an app but there was no way to speak with anyone over the phone as they just don't seem to pick up. Once ordered, we were advised it would be with us within 80 minutes. Ordered at 6 and not having received it by 7:30 we tried multiple times to call but still no one picked up. We had to go through their live chat feature on the app and even they couldn't reach the place by phone and told us to give them another 15-20 minutes. As time dragged on we decided to get in the car and find out what had happened to our food. Just as we pulled out the drive we spotted a guy walking down the street with a heated takeaway bag who clearly didn't know where the house was. We directed him in and asked why it took so long and why they never answered the phone. His response: we're really busy and there's only 2 people in there tonight. No excuse for poor service. The food was ok but won't be ordering again during our break away.

First impressions as a visitor :- it could go either way in this no frills establishment.... but pizzas were pretty decent. A friendly shop. in retrospect i wish i'd also got a fish supper here instead of Moores round the corner. The fish looked far superior, proper big haddock fillet - saw them putting one in for another customer just as i was leaving. oh well next time. cheers.

Literally the worst take away I've ever had. The XL special mixed kebab was horrific. Leathery tasteless dinner meat. Chicken breast not marinated or flavoured and something resembling a very bad burger possibly supposed to be kofte. No flavour. No seasoning. The salad was wet and bitter. The thimble of sauce for the XL kebab was tasteless too. The kids fish fingers were burnt. The pizza was a greasefest. The person who ate the pizza ended up vomiting. The chicken wings were dry and had no flavour either. We had driven a distance and were sold by the 4.4 score on reviews. There was no way any of the food deserved anything above a 1 star. And I would've complained and taken it back if we weren't staying so far away and this place didn't offer delivery either.

The only problem I have with this take away shop is that no one answers the phone ever and it’s not on really, I have been in the shop and seen with my own eyes that the phone will ring and ring and not 1 staff member will answer the phone ridiculous really

Went here as I fancied a Lamb Shish Kebab but unfortunately they don't offer them ( I guess the meat may be expensive these days ) I went for a mixed kebab i.e. Chicken, Doner meat and Kofte with salad and yoghurt. It was OK. I would probably just go for chicken if I go again as I'm not a big fan of Doner meat which seemed to the most prominent meat in the mixed Kebab.

Fish n chips are the best I've tasted for a long time.. I ordered a haddock.. It was more like a whale by the size.. Well worth the money

you do wait a while for your order (1 hour and a half) but when I got my food back to the lodge and ate it, it was well worth the wait.

Ordered online this week, have been ordering fro Hali's for years only to be absolutely disappointed this week. Waited an hour and 45 minutes for delivery for it to be disappointing! Not gonna be going back anytime soon!

I know, that us on a farming land are little bit out of hand, but to me it's kinda selfish. We are producing food for the townsfolk, but they don't want to support us with the goods. Peace ✌️ Jacob

Very disappointed. 3 hours waiting for reheated pizza. Hard edges, rubber dough. Service informed about max extra 20 minutes delivery time, not 3 hours. After that, the phone wasn't even answered. I will never again order from them.

I don't eat chips/pitta, so for £8 I got about 5 small pieces of chicken and a tub of salad about 1/3 the size of a burger box. In England I can go to any of the 5 chippies near me, and get a kebab 4 x the size for less money. Your 'kebab' is literally grilled chicken pieces, with some seasoning added. Doesn't seem marinated at all. I got 1/4 the amount I'm used to, and it was lower quality and more expensive. I've spent £9.70 for a kebab and a drink, and I'm absolutely starving still. What a backwords town...

Had a doner whilst on holiday recently. The amount of meat in it was amazing. I actually couldn't finish it. Will be back next time im in the area.

Hands down the best piece of fish I've had in my life. Batter was absolutely fkn perfect, little crispy, not greasy, not too thick, not too thin-so so good.

Bought 4 adult and 4 Childrens meals here last night.order took 55mins as opposed to the 30 mins we were told. 7 of the meals were ok to good standard I ordered a Xlarge House Special Kebab without the donner meat. This should include three meats, 2 pittas, salad and sauce. I got a carton of meat and nothing else. Returned to the shop to ask for the rest of my meal. A debate ensued between counter staff and kitchen staff before I was handed it back, wrapped in paper and back in cartoon. As I was in a rush I returned to the group I was with only to discover a stale pita surrounding the meat, no second pitta, no salad or sauce… This is not a kebab shop!!! And fairly poor customer service. I’m led to believe the pizza and chips were ok though…

Generally good food but a highly disorganised kitchen. Takes an excess of 1 hour for online orders to be ready.

Went in to get some pizza and chips while out delivering for a supermarket company, I was not disappointed. Great food and great service, with a drink it came to £11 so on the pricey side but it's worth it.

delivery was for 6:05 - 6:25 delivered at 6:48. driver person called to see where she was going, still went to wrong house even though we were outside door and called on her before she went down lane to neighbours. when she did come to door and i questioned her on how she didn't know where she was going as she was here previously in the week and had called prior to delivery, her attitude wasn't great. chips were cold and 1 of the pizzas looked like had been dropped, topping was all over box!

I'm addicted. Eaten out of here on several occasions. Warm, friendly, fast service, even during busy times. The freshness and quality of the ingredients ensure the food is top notch. The special kebab is superb and probably one of the best I've had anywhere in the UK. A firm favourite of ours.

A nice chippy that tasted better than we thought it was going to be. It would be 5 stars but we had to wait for curry sauce.

What a great fish and chip shop located just near the old clock tower in castle Douglas there is a vast range of food on the menu which you could take with you and sit by carlingwark loch and watch the swans and drink in the view and the children can play in the park

Stayed in the area, family of four with children. We ordered some pizza and chips. Big pizza for the price. Three pizzas and a portion of chips did us for tea, midnight snack and lunch! Place was very popular, big queue when we arrived to collect.

Forgot my chilli sauce for my kebab , who eats a kebab without sauce? Everyman and his dog knows a kebab isn't a kebab without sauce! Great portion however, great portion of garbage. Top prices for low quality food. On the plus side friendly staff.

An impromptu stop for tea, lovely cod and chips, nice batter and a good mix of chips from soft and fluffy to crispy. Great prices and friendly service too!

Excellent takeaway with a great selection of food and very reasonable prices. I have used this takeaway for years now and it is definitely one of my favourites. Good quality food, good portion sizes and never been let down with anything I've ordered. Their pizza's are generally my favourite but everything else I have tried has been good. The halfpounder chilli burger is brilliant! I would definitely recommend them!

Good enough fish tbh just make sure they pack seperate as cooked fresh and if in with chips it steams and removes batter. Smoked sausage is microwaved ???????? Chips fresh and cooked well. For quality it is prob over priced but thats area! . Very argumentative young staff that should not be in the industry if cant speak english. Bring on march!!!!!

Another tight fisted takeaway trying to get every last penny out of you . It seems your only allowed 1 sauce on your kebab unless you pay extra, so if you want chilli sauce and garlic mayo your charged an extra 50p for a spoon full of garlic mayo. This is a bit like asking for salt and vinegar on your fish and chips and being told you can only have salt or vinegar in with the price if you want both salt and vinegar it’ll be 50p extra. And another complaint a kebab should be served ready to eat not the salad and sauces all in different containers and having to assemble it yourself, you can imagine what a mess you make trying to put your kebab together when walking home from the pub. Potentially a good takeaway but drastically let down by these 2 annoying things that I’ve pointed out.

Honestly my favourite local takeaway, serves great portions, all food is relatively inexpensive, the food here is absolutely phenomenal and the staff are very friendly. Hands down the best takeaway I have been to.
