If visiting Portpatrick this is the 1st choice you should make for fabulous cuisine. It is a small restaurant , therefore I would book in advance. The menu has limited choice but I am sure there will be something for everyone.Food is freshly prepared to a very high standard. The views over the harbour are good too. Staff were very pleasant and attentive.

All good, the food was all freshly prepared so it took a little time to arrive but we were in no hurry. The pork belly was excellent with an unusual sauce that was nice. Chicken and mushroom crepes, a very simple dish but well done with a lovely cheesy sauce.

I left a very positive review in May after visiting the first time after the excellent Campbell’s became Connors. A repeat visit today when in the area and sadly I can’t say the same. We booked a table for lunch and were so disappointed to see that the usual lovely lunch menu has been replaced by a fixed price menu and light bites. A poor substitute. No mussels, scallops, crab or seafood medley with sauce vierge and all our other favourites were no longer there. Instead a sad collection of spicy coconut milk and other eastern flavoured combos that did not appeal at all. We paid for our drinks and left. Shame

Looking forward to it as we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and we picked this place especially. We booked for 7pm. So disappointed with the service. We waited 25 minutes and had to chase the waitress to order drinks and food. Starter came at 8 o'clock, which was lovely (mussels). Waitress came took the empty bowls, left the finger bowl. I took this back to the bar. Asked for a new napkin as I had used mine to wipe the table. Waited till 8.30 for main which was also good. Veg was potatoes and chips, very odd. We left no tip. Very average and sad because of that.

Myself and my partner where just outside of portpatrick yesterday and wondered about somewhere to have lunch, it was about 12.30pm on a scorching hot Bank holiday Sunday. We hadn’t actually planned to go there to start with but thought why not. I saw on Facebook Connors Restaurant had just uploaded a Facebook post about stopping there for a choice of 2 lovely menus and a cheeky gin, sounded perfect! The post had went up about 15 mins before we arrived, so I assumed they must be looking to take some tables. I walked down and there where 2 tables taken outside, and 1 table inside. I asked if I could get a table for 2 outside if possible and I was told no they had been reserved and I thought okay but before I could even open my mouth again she said all tables inside where also reserved that they where fully booked. There was 1 table inside, other wise it was pretty empty. Ok no problem, we found somewhere else so no big deal, after about 2 hours spent having food and wondering around we went back to the car (parked just up from Connors restaurant) and I noticed again there was only the 1 table outside, and no one at the others. I’m maybe wrong but I felt like this was odd, the inside didn’t look like it was “fully booked” either. It actually looked a little dead compared to everywhere else. This has also happened to my friends a couple of times too - they’ve went in and the place has been stone dead but got turned away because of the excuse of being fully booked. Just felt like it was not quite right. Sorry I never usually write reviews but felt like I had to get my point across on this one. We would love to dine here and hopefully will in the future.

We went twice to this restaurant under the previous ownership when it was Campbell's and weren't quite sure what to expect. But we were delighted to find that standards were as high as ever and service was as friendly and efficient. We both started with avocado and crab and followed it with scallops. My husband's crème brulee was perfect and my pink gin cheesecake was sinfully delicious. Not exactly cheap but good value considering the quality of the ingredients and the cooking.

Lovely restaurant with great views across the port. We enjoyed a beautiful meal on a Sunday evening. Food was very well presented on contemporary plates and the staff were excellent, both polite and helpful. Extensive menu. The menu was printed in a decent sized font which was impressive! Only wish more restaurants would consider that small font menus are difficult to read in low light. We were particularly impressed by how the wine list was presented with photos of the bottles. Highly recommended!

We ended up having three cours, sharing a portion of Provencal Mussels, which were big and juicy with a great sauce, My wife had what looked a great fish and chip plate whilst I had Chicken with various non exciting sauces, chips and vegetables which consisted of boiled potatoes? I know this is Scotland where vegetables are often scarce, but seriously, boiled potatoes? Dessert was a sumptuous chocolate dish which was excellent.

We have been here frequently since it opened in February and whilst the service has improved, it could do with being a little more consistent. One week we are offered water, next week not. One week we are brought bread and butter, next week not. Sometimes the service is excellent, other times not so much. Last weekend it took staff over 20 minutes to remove our plates after we had finished our mains, despite the fact that the table we were at was in full view of the bar. It spoiled what was otherwise a lovely meal, as the food was delicious, as always.

We used to regularly travel 30 miles specially for Campbell's Restaurant, we've brought many family & friends over the years knowing we would get a special meal. When it changed to Connors we were more than eager to try it out. My wife and I visited for lunch, with eager anticipation. It's different! The menu is considerably less than the very comprehensive version previously. My main disappointment was the lack of Dover Sole, my all time favourite! We both settled for the Haddock in batter. The fish was lovely and well cooked, but the batter lacked the Cider Batter taste of previous visits. The meal was nice and well cooked, and the staff as friendly as before, but that was all. It saddens me to say that that the change in menu from amazing to just good probably means that it's no longer worth the 30 mile drive just to eat there. Such a shame, Portpatrick is such a special place!

Came to eat because of all the good reviews. However my experience was disappointing. I ordered the hake with a crab cake. I chose chips and mixed vegetables as an accompaniment. The chips were soggy (unforgiveable !) The crab cake had been nowhere near a crab-no crab flavour whatsoever, and I was unable to see any crab in the cake. To make matters worse, the crab cake was huge and full of hard lumps of potato. However the hake was perfectly fresh and well cooked, as were the vegetables. The sauce which accompanied the hake and crab cake was delicious. What should have been an excellent meal was spoiled by basic poor cooking. My husband chose the spicy pork with new potatoes and had no complaints. It seems that satisfaction depends upon the choice of menu. On paying the bill, we were asked if everything was ok. I told about my disappointment with the chips and the crab cake. The waitress appeared uninterested and I don't think that she would have reported my comments to the kitchen. Maybe a case of either 'we don't care because we know we are so good',or 'the customer doesn't know what she is talking about'!

Beautiful surroundings and the staff are so friendly and very informative. The new owners had a lot to live up to from the previous owners but I can honestly say they have certainly done that. Previously we had enjoyed visiting Campbell’s but this was our first visit since it was sold. It was very quiet for a Friday lunchtime and we were the first customers at 1pm. Both the set menu and a la carte were quite extensive. I think the 3 course menu was about £14 but more than we wanted to eat at lunchtime so we decided on one main course each from the a la carte. We had to ask quite a few questions of the waitress about ingredients and she had to refer these to the chef. We ordered a trio of fillets, a generous portion of pork, chicken and beef served on asparagus. Another friend had a sea food medley which consisted of 3 types of roast fish and langoustine. I had roast hake and crab cake. We asked for the sauce to be served separately . New potatoes and tasty chips were included but extra vegetables had to be ordered. My Asian slaw was rather tasteless and my friend didn’t care for it either. The dish of seasonal vegetables was enough for two. Although we had a longish wait for the food I didn’t mind as it was absolutely fresh and we all thought our dishes were excellent. We will definitely return. My concern for them would be the high basic price of dishes and unlike Campbell’s they had no light snacks. I’m not sure how much support they will receive from the local population as one of the pubs in the village serves excellent seafood at lower prices. Cost for food and 3 drinks £78

How anyone could give this 5 stars is unbelievable. We went as a four for a birthday. We had to wait for 45 minutes before anyone came to take our food order with absolutely no explanation whatsoever. Other diners were also in the same situation. It was more than an hour before food arrived. The best that can be said about the food was very disappointing. Two of us had rack of lamb of the 6 chops 5 of them were very tough. The sweets were below average. And to cap it all they are charging Glasgow prices.

Conner's have maintained the good service and atmosphere from Campbells. The food was good but lacked some imagination. We had pork with chive potatoes and Thai chicken with rice, that came with seasonal veg and a dish of potatoes and chips as a side. So that was potatoes and potatoes for the pork and carbohydrates and carbohydrates with the chicken! The staff were interested in my feed back on the meal and we will try Conners again to see if the menu improves, possibly by adding a salad as an alternative option to the three types of potato with the Pork dish.
