What a great gem of a venue, went for cabaret and stayed til closing. Friendly staff and even a dolly dealer, would definitely recommend for solo or friends or as a great meeting point !!

Great venue, I have been many times now & it’s always so welcoming & fun. Friendly bar staff, especially Craiger & Melissa, always give excellent service. If you can, go on a night Marsha Mallow is performing, she’s a vocal powerhouse & so funny! Woe Addams & Miss Moppe are also an hilarious act with great vocals & humour. DJ Freddy plays a great variety of tunes & remixes, the Village People/Chappel Roan remix was quite the surprise! Well worth a visit!

Great place ! Drag show was fab, really enjoyed it. Atmosphere fantastic. Can’t wait for another visit. Jay behind the bar was a complete joy.

My first visit 'post pandemic' and we had an absolutely brilliant afternoon. We watched the CK Sunday show which was hilarious and super entertaining. A really friendly crowd. Also felt very safe with their covid precautions.

An absolute gem if a place , I was by myself and had a great time , I attended the shows they do downstairs in a separate bar from the one upstairs , I had pre booked via there website as after a hard lockdown and restrictions lifting was seeking entertainment , well they didn’t fail , all the acts were first class , singing , adult comedy , not once did I feel awkward , felling safe and well looked after , the staff worked very hard cleaning and adhering by the rules .I can honestly say it was a great , fun , professional experience and shame I don’t live closer as in would be there as much as I can , if you are in London don’t miss this great place - make sure you book as soon as you can , my trip made my year.

Very welcoming bar. Nice and clean and covid friendly and safe. Everyone seemed really happy and the boys working were very knowledgable of the area.

Always welcoming staff and has the feel of a local pub. We enjoyed the show downstairs. All covid rules adhered to even plastic screen onstage. The atmosphere was still excellent. Hard working staff.

We were a group of six visiting London. Halfway was our first stop. We stayed for 3 drinks more that intended. Felt totally safe there. The music was perfectly camp. We all paid separately which was no trouble to the staff who were super friendly constantly cleaning while making sure we all new the rules and were safe, even had time for a laugh with us. We hope to see a show next time we are visiting.

This is a great little venue near Trafalgar Square... The atmosphere is fun, friendly and welcoming and the staff are friendly and attentive. Service was excellent and the whole place is well-organised and run. You can see they care about their customers and nothing is too much trouble.One of the best features is the entertainment which is always a pleasure: we were here for the famous Eurovision event and enjoyed it hugely.

Had the amazing opportunity to visit this establishment on 17th may, got to see the wonderful, sensational Woe Addams, staff were amazing, venue outstanding, crowd engaging and cannot wait to go again, drove there from west Wales just to be there on the opening night (post lockdown) and then drove straight back again, a 10 hour round trip and worth every minute, cannot recommend highly enough

Called in here on way for a meal. My wife was suprised to see she was the only woman until she saw the rainbow banners and drag act posters.It's a cosy little pub with with a downstairs area for the acts. There were 2 craft ales, one of which was Doom Bar so I was happy.All in all a nice friendly atmosphere.

A small gay bar but welcoming, you just have to come for the drag acts (and other shows) here you will have loads of fun and the prices for drinks in town are pretty good as well

This is a traditional Pub (more frequented by Gay men in the evenings) next to Trafalgar Square. It had a Great Atmosphere and the team very welcoming and engaging.. There is no discrimination here....so all are welcome. Embrace Diversity and you will have a Great time.

He estado aquí 5 o 6 veces con mi novia cuando visitamos Londres porque nos encanta el cabaret. Pero el personal del bar se ha vuelto cada vez más grosero cada vez que visitamos. Visitamos un domingo por la tarde el mes pasado y bajamos las escaleras. El bar estaba muy ocupado y había dos drag queens en el escenario. El pequeño jubilado detrás de la barra es perversamente grosero en su actitud. Parece que no solo se ha vuelto más grande con el tiempo, sino que también es cada vez más desagradable, abrupto y grosero. Pedimos nuestras bebidas (dos vinos blancos de la casa - muy buen precio). Los barman nos dijeron cuánto costaba y luego pusieron los ojos en blanco mientras tardaban un poco más en encontrar mi perse en mi bolso. Mi novia entonces sacó dinero de su bolsillo. Esto pareció irritar aún más a Barmen. Tutó, puso los ojos en blanco de nuevo y arrebató el dinero de la mano de mi novia. Golpeó el cambio en la barra y desapareció en la habitación de atrás. I love the Halfway to Heaven, been here several times. Really enjoyed the drag act Lady Diamond on the night of Saturday 22nd December, old school camp good quality cabaret. Looking forward to my next visit!

A las 2 pm, salí a las 2 am, una de mis mejores salidas nocturnas, llena de hombres gay, que nos recibieron a todos, bailamos toda la noche, con música de campamento, hubo un fabuloso acto de arrastre llamado Tanya Hyde, ella fue brillante , nos encantó todo, incluso vimos algunas celebridades, pero no nos atrevíamos a decir quiénes eran, incluso bailamos con uno, él ha estado estrictamente, amado, amado, como todos nosotros,

Am glad it survives. Good to have a gay bar so central. Is a bit tatty and the toilets are grim. Sort of a time capsule and long may it survive. Cabaret is hit and miss but that's life.

I always enjoy my time here with my friends and locals.

I visit Halfway at least 2 or 3 times a week. It’s a great venue with friendly staff and a downstairs cabaret bar that always has something for everyone. The staff are friendly and it’s my local in London. I would recommend anyone to go if they want a fun night (or afternoon) our.

I have been frequenting Halfway for nearly ten years on and off but since moving to London I have been a regular on various days of the week.... it’s like having a local, family run pub in the centre of London! I’m always greeted warmly by the staff and know some on a first name basis now. The pub is well run, orderly and I’ve never seen an issue or sensed an atmosphere. Halfway encompasses all as an LGBTQI+ safe space and a place I can relax with my partner and friends. The cabaret throughout the week is always good but especially at the weekends when you see some of the top London acts, along with international drag artists. Sunday has to be by far my favourite day with ‘CK Sunday’, a drag double act with a range of music from musicals through to disco. I even take my mum these days! If you’re a local or a visitor, stop by for one, or a few and you’ll soon see! Well done to all involved and thank you!

Wonderfully traditional pub environment with a welcoming team at the bar, hosting superb drag acts regularly in the well appointed downstairs performance space. Perfect for a quick stop or a full night of entertainment.

This venue is one of my locals and have spent many an evening upstairs, downstairs and gathered outside. It’s ideal location on Duncannon street just off Trafalgar Square makes it easily accessible and A welcoming atmosphere, with a range of entertainment throughout the week and weekend, a broad selection of beverages and a team of outgoing, friendly staff are amoung the many reasons I would recommend Halfway ll Heaven!

Fantastic and attentive staff, a wide variety of cabaret (I have previously attended both on a Saturday and during the week - both seem very popular), a wide selection of drinks available and definitely the most affordable I’ve seen in the west end. A real local pub vibe which is rare to find but most importantly a safe space for the LGBT community!

This lovely little hidden gem is located near Charring Cross. I’ve been going for over 20 years and have seen at least five different managers.

So this is a small gay pub near to Trafalgar Square. We were looking for a place where we could sit outside for a little while with a drink and just take stock. To be honest we found the bar staff to be a bit off-putting, they did not really greet us or engage us in conversation or even smile. I was so disappointed as being a gay woman I seek out ‘rainbow pubs’ to spend my money in and really did not feel welcome – what a shame and perhaps it was an off day.

Walking from Charing Cross station to Chinatown you will walk along Duncannon Street where you will find on the left hand side a Pub called Halfway to heaven .

I went to the Trump protest on 13th July & at the end of it saw a up off Trafalgar square and went in for a pint. At first glance it just looked like a typical pub, but half way through my pint the penny dropped that it was a Gay bar (I am straight, and apparently my Gaydar is weak). Enjoyed my pint & a post-protest chillout, & was about to leave when I got talking with a very pleasant local who even bought me a pint (and yes, he had figured out I was straight by then).

Craqueo lugar pero hay una particular 'bouncer' que es un completo jobsworth. Mis amigos me estaban esperando y al humo de un cigarrillo porque estaba cerca de la hora de cierre, ella asumir su autoridad e insistió en que ella estaba sobregirada, a pesar de tratar de explicar que ella ha sido de 3 meses sobrio. Ella llevaba un sombrero duro en esta particular noche (orgullo). Para esto, la noche se arruinó.

Llamado para una copa rápida en nuestro camino a la Galería Nacional. Selección razonable de bebidas y lugares para sentarse. Los aseos están en la planta baja cerca de la zona del escenario. Estaban limpias, aunque me pareció que los tenedores de papel higiénico muy alto la pared! Este es un lugar agradable para tomar una copa.

Travelled up from Essex to meet a friend there on Saturday, I was not allowed in at 7pm I think it was something to do with the demo in Traf Sq, but no reason or apology given by the door person, My friend inside tried to ask bar man and got a miserable cant be bothered attitude reply, I go there often, but you need to get a bit more customer focussed. some bar staff are just miserable, crack a smile and say thanks once in a while.

I was looking forward to going to this event as we travelled 4 hours to get to the venue to be very disappointed by the manger who really put a downer on the night of I’m been honest. This event was such a highlight for us and was really looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing the amazing talent.

Visited enroute (and back again) to Tina the musical. Great lgbt bar in the centre of London. Staff very friendly and the price of a large white wine (£6) was pretty good compared to other venues. Will visit again

Mi pareja y yo fuimos a este pub durante su estancia en Londres recientemente. Arriba hay un pub y un bar y pista de baile y un pequeño escenario abajo. El ambiente es agradable y los precios de las bebidas alcohólicas no son abusivos como algunos lugares en Londres puede ser. La ley que vino durante más de una hora donde dos cantantes fabulosos.

Por su conveniente ubicación, pop en de vez en cuando para tomar algo rápido, aunque no es un ambiente real y el bar es muy pequeño. Nunca he encontrado el personal muy amable. Hay sitios mejores y debo ir a ellas en el futuro.

Pequeño gran pub, cerca de la calle. Martin en la iglesia campos, fuera de Trafalgar Square. Bar gay, pero todos son bienvenidos. El personal del bar era cortés, pero no demasiado. Encantador interior. Parece que hacer un montón de arrastrar eventos, pero estábamos de visita después de la noche en la iglesia, demasiado temprano para nada de eso. Yo creo que sirven la comida, pero estábamos allí para beber.

Overall I’ve never had an amazing performance from the drag shows but I’ve nevertheless enjoyed the shows and as it’s free you can’t complain really.

Been here before always had an amazing time,this occasion I went to celebrate my brother's birthday I went to bar to get a drink the barman said too drunk only going to serve me water said ok walked to tell the rest of the party I was with, then security turned up and told me I need to leave the bar,now I'm a 67 year old man and was celebrating my brother's birthday I had a few drinks before I got there but I was no way drunk or rowdy or making a nuisance of myself? .

Bar staff are so rude and up themselves. I enjoyed this bar on a previous night so brought my cousins to be rudely spoken too, looked down on and was really disappointed. Won’t be back and would advice anyone to avoid.

Called in here with some friends as heard the drag queens put on a good show. I was not disappointed, I laughter till it hurt. I am not gay but was made to feel very welcome. Ended up jiving with a Women who was there with her son and a young gay guy kept hugging me. I am sure if we had stayed another hour we would have been part of the 'in crowd'. Will defiantly go back next time I visit London.

We just popped in for a quick beer ahead of catching our bus. Very friendly, gay bar. Afternoon not too crowded so we could chat. Cornish made Tribute beer has replaced Doom Bar since my last visit but still a good drop of bitter.

I don't live in London, but frequently visit for work, and Halfway has easily become my favourite bar in the capital. The regular crowd are friendly which is great for someone like me who doesn't know many people in London, I've met a few friends in here. The bar staff are all fantastic, particularly Issy and Joe downstairs who always remember my usual drink and work really hard to serve everyone quickly when it's often very busy. There is entertainment on every night in the downstairs bar, including some superb drag acts, although my favourite has to be Thursday night karaoke which has a really fun atmosphere. I look forward to coming back here for a great night on each of my regular visits to London.

It's predominantly a gay pub, had such good fun here for the Cancer Is A Drag fundraiser event, nearly missed going to the theatre. Mix of people though not just gay, I'm not gay but I didn't feel uncomfortable & they made us very welcome.

Una visita de nuevo el jueves después de muchas visitas últimamente. Había un hombre alto que estaba el bar haciendo un buen trabajo. Sin embargo, el viejo barman parece haber dejado su educación en el exterior. Tiene la personalidad de nada y sin duda necesita aprender habilidades de atención al cliente. De lo contrario cada visita ha sido buena.

Paramos aquí para ir al baño, y por supuesto tomar una copa después del teatro. Barman no parecía muy contento, pero después de ver la acción de abajo nos quedamos hasta que terminen. Nos hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos y disfrutamos muchísimo. Obviamente popular con la comunidad gay, no es gay. Esperamos volver en mi próximo viaje a Londres.

Después de 17 años en esta increíble ciudad de Londres, he hecho este fantástico bar poco mi abrevadero local. Como en cualquier bar de Londres, puede tardar un poco en ser establecido con el personal del bar. A veces pueden venir al otro lado un poco fría o abrupto pero hacen su trabajo y lo hacen muy bien. Miércoles bastante bueno para salir por la noche entre semana y los sábados es simplemente estupendo! ! ! ! ! Todo comienza a las 3:00 pm con un acto de huéspedes, 5:00 pm es el delicioso jardín de rosas y a las 10:00pm una multitud de jóvenes tienden a tomar más para ver el excelente que es el Vixons incorpora un conjunto. Hay algo para todo el mundo en este bar. Puede ser una bebida tenía en el bar en el piso de arriba (planta baja) y el más divertido puede aparecer multitud amorosa escaleras después en un lugar de cabaret o cantar la canción. A lo largo de pop. . . . Puedes hacer mucho peor en el centro de Londres.

Vine aquí después del desfile del 8 de julio (ver), Stephanie Von Clitz queens drag & Mary Mac realizar. Era una visita! Me encanta venir abajo al show room, un ambiente fantástico y una gran muestra de ambas reinas. Feliz orgullo a todos ❤ ☺!

Post london trip drink. Was casually dressed and waiting for caberet to start. Popped outside for a ciggy and for no reason was told to not bother going back inside! Very rude bouncers who gave no reason for chucking me out. Wasn't even intoxicated. Think only like pretty looking people in here. Have been to this place on numerous occasions and recommended to lots of friends in past. WELL, DO NOT BOTHER. RUDE AND HORRIBLE POWER-HUNGRY NASTY DOORMEN. AVOID. PLENTY OF BETTER PLACES NEARBY.

We missed all the noise and entertainment as we came late in the evening on our way to the last train - but it was a really friendly venue where we had some great conversations before continuing on our journey home.

Spent £180 on my friends birthday rude arragont think they are all better than any one else,would never give them my money again not recommend on a trip to London I suggest its avoided gives a London bar a bad name ,not a good bar to visit please avoid this place

I have traveled all over the world and I am consistently amazed with places that keep the energy high without selling out. Halfway does that without any challenge. Special props to James who kept the drinks full, the energy positive and the environment safe. I am going back to that bar, just because of him and his integrity as a bartender.

Went on a girly weekend to London and as I've had a drink in there before took the girls for a drink. Gary the barman made us feel so welcome we ended up staying for more than a few. Went back on Friday night to watch Lola Lasagne do her stuff, again Gary not only remembered us but also remembered what we drank. A barman par excellence. Had a lovely time and will keep going back. I often pop in here for a pint on the way home. Have never encountered any problems and the staff are good. Decent pint - does what it says on the tin.

A delightful pub opposite Saint Martins in the Field. Drinking on ground floor, smokers outside and Cabaret some evenings downstairs. A 'Doombar' stockist so always on my list of bars to drink in.

Lovely bar catering mainly for the LGBT community a short walk from charring Cross station. Nice friendly staff and customers, beer was delicious and well kept. Haven't been here in a long time. We will be back again soon

Dirty filthy hole with the rudest bar staff I have ever seen. The toilets were disgusting also. One of the bar staff a older bald guy with glasses was the rudest person I have ever seen. We will never return to this filthy hole of a so called bar!!!

We popped in looking for a quick pint and to scout locations for a pub crawl we were organising Didn't seem much when we walked in and then the friendly barman told us there was more seating downstairsThis is where it all happensWith a small stage, you can imagine the fun that takes place here in the late eveningsWe came around lunch time, so it was quiet, but we definitely intend to add this one to our crawl

Before traveling to London, I perused a list of gay bars in central London. So I recognized the name after leaving a concert at St. Martin in the Field. I slipped in for a drink and ended up staying a couple of hours. Upstairs, small groups were huddled in conversation around tables. It didn’t look like a typical gay crowd and I wondered if some guests may have stopped by for a drink after the theatre not realizing it was a gay bar. Which speaks to the welcoming atmosphere of Halfway to Heaven. I grabbed a pint and headed downstairs, which was noisy with music and had more of a party atmosphere. There was a small stage, a small dance floor and an absolutely terrific dj keeping a mixed crowd entertained until the drag show started. Evidently the regular performer was absent and we were waiting for a substitute to arrive. And when they did, they were fabulous, singing in their own voice and engaging in some saucy banter with the crowd. It was all great fun and I’d definitely return.

Usually me and my co workers plan a drink night out once a month. Unfortunately what suppose to be a happy Friday (2/4/16) for us after a long day at work became one of the biggest disapointments of the week for us, this bar had been highly recommended for friends of mine and we left completely disappointed with the way the bartender was taking our orders and looking at us, the bartender that I sadly forgot to ask the name was serving downstairs and the way he was serving us was looking like he hate his job. I personally think the bar has a lot potential and the atmosphere was great apart of the barmen on my personal opinion needs to learn some costumer service.

I wanted to catch a great cabaret show and heard about Halfway to Heaven.It's a bit run down and looks like a local out of town but don't let that put you off. The downstairs show bar is fantastic. I went on Saturday and caught two shows in the evening. A great atmosphere, two great shows and it was free to get in.Would recommend.

I love going to this bar and it just gets better and better. Full of cabaret shows and it was free to get in. The drinks are very well priced and the staff are friendly. The pub itself is quite comfortable looking and I think that's by choice. If your looking for somewhere to relax and enjoy yourself then this is it!

Went there with a mate not knowing it was a gay bar. The fact that it was a gay bar was no problem to us; we only wanted a few drinks and a chat. The guy at the door was very hesitant to let us in when he told us that it was a gay bar and that we told him that we weren't gay. We were questioned as to whether we might cause trouble or pick a fight. He eventually let us in, we had a few drinks, caught up on old times, then left.As a pub, it was ok. As a gay bar I can't really comment.

I went out last Friday night with two friends, the bartender refused to serve us with any more explanation than 'no, bye' because from his point of view we upset him. That's unnaceptable if you work as a waiter, so I can't recomend a pub with that kind of staff

I visited this bar as I wanted to see the cabaret act Danny Beard. The staff were friendly, the drinks were real cheap and the atmosphere was remarkable. They Had Danny Beard on stage who was just fantastic to watch. The place is small and make its cosy. I will be back.

Birthday outing. Saw Mrs Moore. I've seen plenty of cabaret over the years and possibly the best ever one at Brighton Pride 2013 but this topped them all. Belly ache funny and then real pathos in some songs. An ease on the stage that was quite staggering. I've never been to Half Way To Heaven before but I'd go back for his act. Brilliant.

For a central drinking establishment in the capital as a solo traveller this place is small cosy the bar staff are very friendly and helpful and try and answer questions from a tourist giving directions etc. The entertainment is good for the size of the downstairs

went to see a drag queen last night called Tanya hide truly bad can't sing can't tell jokes has got no stage presence boring boring boring a boy just a girl is not in itself funny The other drag queen was called Mrs Moore a real professional funny quick and very entertaining when Mrs Moore left the stageHalf the pub left with her I was embarrassed for the terrible Tanya hide

After the fire in holborn we were looking for a pub that was open. My wife and I were made to feel most welcome despite the slow realisation that this was a gay bar . What a great atmosphere and fantastic staff.

One arrogant barman who frequently evicts people for no justifiable reason. The management seriously need to review their employees contract. He alone damages the reputation, as word rapidly spreads. Perhaps applying for a position at H.M.P Wormwood Scrubs might be more compatible with his bitter personality.

My friends & I often arrange to meet up at Halfway to Heaven before moving onto Soho. It's not a bad bar but I wouldn't want to spend the entire evening there. The pub has a habit of running out of the various on tap ales/ciders so you often have to choose an alternative (& in many cases more expensive) choice of drink. The regular barman in the upstairs bar is unbelievably miserable & seems to prefer chatting to his friends, who hog the bar with no consideration for other, less regular, customers.However, I do enjoy Halfway. They put on some very good cabaret shows and their karaoke is excellent. The downstairs bar (where the cabaret etc is put on) is much more comfortable - however the smell from the same level toilets does get a bit overpowering. In summary, I would recommend Halfway to friends - it is in a cracking location, just a hop away from Charing Cross station. The beer (when it is available) is well kept and not over expensive. Give the place a go - they make it clear on the door that it is a mainly gay bar, however they do welcome regular customers. If anything, Halfway is a great & cheap meeting place that is a stones throw from Soho.

Having been a 'few' times over the past few years This pub just gets better- I think that the Sunday Cabaret is unrivalled and just great fun- with 'CK Sunday' (Crystal d'Canter and Kelly Mild) and then Mrs Moore and Tanya Hyde - all live- great voices and some all out good fun.I can see there's been a few changes in the bar staff- which, I have to say, was needed- but if you compare the pub to two or three years ago it's definitely come a long way.Great little boozer with great entertainment- will see you again the next time I'm around x

Right what can i say about this pub BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT!!!! Bar stuff are fab so friendly and always chatty. Drinks are cheap and have a good variety.My partner and I often go on sundays and through out the week where they have a drag act on Miss Crystal d' Canter and Miss Kelly Mild.

I had previously avoided this pub on the basis that a pub so close to Trafalgar Square would be a nightmare with tourist. Very surprised to find a quite decent & friendly little pub and a pint of Doom Bar was only 3.55, pretty cheap for central London. It could do with a bit of a paint job but overall very welcoming and stayed longer than i intended.

There for drag show on Sunday. Good old tunes, no miming, quick service at bar, reasonable prices. Crowd less than previous visits. I wonder why. Maybe it's a bit too cliquey and young guys get all the attention.

If you are the kind of person who likes a basement lounge that stinks of piss, sofas and chairs covered in stains, paint peeling off the walls, dirty carpeting, and bad artwork on the wall, then this is the place for you.

went last Friday for Halloween at it was CK on amazing show and love the girls. such a nice spot to relax in and enjoyable. DJ little john was brilliant for the night
