Called in just as we were passing with no idea we had found a lovely restaurant with great staff and even better food, found us a table as we were early and 40 mins later they were fully booked!!! Had the wild mushrooms with truffle oil to share and the lamb for my wife and the monkfish curry for myself. Cant fault it, even the chefs came out to ask if everything was ok. Added to the list of definite stops in future. Thanks to all the staff

Let me start off by saying the food was delicious. Service was ok. However, on entering the pub we were guided through the bar area to some steps that lead down to a separate dining area aka dungeon! This is where the establishment really let's itself down - the room is dark and dingy with very little natural light coming from the small window at the top end of the room, despite it being a very sunny evening. The table and chairs which were very uncomfortable (no cushions) looked like they had been inherited from several generations previous and the table top was sticky (menues kept sticking to it) I asked if we could be moved to a vacant table in the bar area which I was informed was reserved, despite there being no facility to reserve tables on the Internet. I got a distinct feeling of preferential treatment for some. I would not recommend as the ambience severely detracts from the gourmet experience.

Wouldn’t recommend whatsoever! Rude bar staff! Cleaners going through your room and moving your possessions yet when complaining about it your told their aloud too! They leave all the doors unlocked on your room so anybody can walk in!! If you stay there don’t have a medical emergency as theirs NO staff on during the night so good luck with that one!! This place is a complete JOKE!!! Looks nice - but as they looks cans be deceiving!!!! Don’t Trust it. Go elsewhere!!!

A gem of a place! Stayed for 2 nights with our elderly parents and dog. The staff could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Our rooms had everything we needed ...a special touch of a bar of Cornish chocolate was very cute! Our dog was made to feel very welcome too...lots of treats and cuddles for him! As the pub isn't open in the day, you have another exit meaning you can come and go with ease. Location on A39 meant that you could take the main road or country lanes to get to Padstow, Rock etc Yvonne and Claire were superb hosts and made us feel like locals/friends....highly attentive, going above and beyond with their service We ate dinner here for the 2 nights as the food was tremendous. The tomahawk steak was superb! Great value for money, great flavours, consume and home made bread as a free taster ... A very good value for money stay...we will definitely return!

We eat here a lot and have always enjoyed excellent food but we went on Saturday 23rd December with 5 other people. 3 of us had the Turkey dinner and were very disappointed with it. No taste and pigs in blankets and parsnips very overcooked ( almost burnt!) not usual standard 😩 we didn’t make a fuss as in a group . Such a shame

We had Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust staff and volunteers Xmas lunch with us all spread throughout the pub. Lovely food. Very welcoming staff and a fab time had by all. Thanks to organisers who did a great job, and to all at the Halfway House who helped to make it a special day.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurant is a pleasant environment and great food. I had the all day breakfast. You can choose 2 from beans, tomatoes and mushrooms which made my life easy as I didn't have to ask if they could swap baked beans for anything like how I do in other places lol. For £14.50 you get 2 eggs, 2 sliced of toast, 2 sausages, tomato, mushroom, and 2 slides of bacon, you get 1 hot drink (tea/coffee) and also one juice (orange /apple) so yip, my holiday craving of "I must have a full English whilst on holiday" was definitely satisfied.
