A pre booked event for 14 adults with advanced list of starters and mains . What could go wrong 😑 the staff had to be asked to start serving the starters after we’d been sitting down for 40 minutes. Yet again another member of are group had to ask for the main dishes to be served 45 minutes later. 3 meals were wrong which meant they had to sit and wait yet again. 20 minutes after everyone had finished we had to ask the staff that were sitting at the bar to clear the table and supply the pudding menu, only 1 menu was given between 14 people 🤦🏽‍♀️The food left a lot to be desired, some were cold others had food that had meat that couldn’t be chewed and I’ve never seen apple crumble with raw apple slices in it ever. The service was appalling the food was extremely poor would i recommend going most definitely not 😠

First time here with the family, Food and Drinks were excellent and service was good. My only gripe on this visit was my meal... Chilli Con Carne was overly spiced with chilli, hottest I've tasted in an establishment, no Chives visible as stated on the menu, but what was most unusual, it came with Pilau Rice and Cardemmon Seeds, which I associate with the Eastern Indian Pallet... Not a matching combination with chilli at all, white Rice everytime please and state it in the Menu. Beutiful River Side views of the River Severn made this visit nice and relaxing to say the least.

We've been coming here for years. Recently the quality of the food and the service has taken a huge nose dive, but the price still the same. Mass produced side dishes of cheap quality. I had the chicken burger, my bun was soggy, and the salad brown !. The gammon was raw and full of fat. No-one came back to ask how the food was, or if we wanted more drinks. Had to go up to the bar to ask for the bill, and again to pay. I used to recommend , but last few times it's been hugely disappointing

Me and my family recently visited the half moon and we cannot fault the place. The place is in the perfect location for dinner as we sat right next to the river! We went in and ordered drinks at the bar and were served straight away by the friendly bar team. We were then told there was a 20 minute waiting period to order, however we definitely didn’t wait that long- brownie points there. There is a large variety of different meals to choose from! We opted for the beef strips and the pizza🍕The food came out and it did not disappoint, huge pizza’s and delicious beef strips! The staff were all attentive and just so friendly… service and food done right! Will definitely be recommending this spot to friends and family!

We primarily booked a room for one night and spent most of the day and ate dinner there. The location, next to the River Severn, is amazing, and very peaceful. The food was delicious, the staff, especially Mia and Sydney, were extremely helpful, efficient and friendly. The only downside was the accommodation. Although very clean, with the "usual" provisions - tea/coffee making facilities, a mini fridge, complimentary water etc the bed was probably the most uncomfortable and noisy we've ever slept in. It was so soft (worn out) that sunk in the middle. We hardly slept. We would have commented on this as we were leaving the following morning but there were no staff (except the cleaner) on duty. It's such a shame that the boarding aspect lets the Half Moon down, otherwise I'd have rated it 5 stars. It appears no-one from there is monitoring the reviews left on TripAdvisor as there have been no replies, to either positive or negative reviews. Which, unfortunately, speaks volumes.

This is a superb spot for a good pint or overnight stop. In the past I've highly recommended it but I'm afraid to say I wouldn't recommend it for food now, not sure if it's been taken over but the food is pretty poor and expensive. And a LONG wait. The pizzas used to be beautifully light and tasty, now like a sheet of cardboard, at £16 I've had ,much better. Half the sunshades were broken. Just feels like noone cares. They ought to pop up to the new cafe in the Quarry and see what good food is like, remind themselves how they used to be.. I won't be returning. Positives: great spot by the river and most of the staff are friendly.

Beautiful setting but everything else was dire. Unwelcoming staff. Scowling, unhelpful manageress. Bog standard, uninteresting menu that you can get anywhere. We have eaten here many times over the years, admittedly not recently, and have wonderful memories of amazing food and a warm ambience. Where we were sitting was so noisy it was unbearable, we could have gone outside to eat but the menu was so unappealing we didn’t bother. Paid for our overpriced drinks and left. Oh and on the topic of overpriced ..nearly £25 for a steak! And an extra £3.25 for a sauce to go with it??? There are plenty of MUCH better venues in this area so don’t waste your time or money. Like going to Harrods and finding Poundland inside….

The waitress came and took the order food very slow mine was average at best my partner had to return the steak as it was raw.We did not Finnish our food very AVERAGE and im being polite.Great position side of the river but shocking service you need to do a lot better guys.

Bizarre ordering system - given a number, told order will be taken in half an hour! We timed it! Then told what we wanted (with a sigh) was sold out. Quick rescan of menu- didn't want t miss our slot! Sides for main came out with starter -'do you want fresh ones'....erm obvs! Main was bland - veggie fajitas - tortillas and dips came out but then had to wait for the actual filling, had to chase ( for this and the premature sides) essentially a sizzling dish of onion with a few bits of pepper - by which time tortillas were cold. Tasteless. Clearly this place trades on its scenic Riverside location rather than food quality and service.

The Half Moon Inn serves the most fantastic-tasting, homemade foods. We had lamb koftas and homemade chili corn carne, and I did not want the rice. They were more than happy to swap the rice for the most amazing chunky chips—the best we have ever had. We always arrive when they open because we know they are very popular and get very busy. Some of the seating overlooks the river, making it a beautiful and peaceful area to eat. If you want to eat here arrive early because you could wait a long while for HOMEMADE food.

the only redeeming feature about this pub is the location, which is in fact lovely, situated right on the river surrounded by nature. however, after sitting for a while and having no success with the waiting staff, we went up to the bar and ordered. the pints were extortionate - £5.40 for a poorly poured and sour tasting guiness. the items on the menu that all three of us originally wanted were 'unavailable' so we had to settle for something different. when the food finally came i was gobsmacked. the loaded fries were hardly loaded and didnt have everything they we said to have on them and the crispy chilli beef was extremely bland and lackluster. the uninspiring bar staff also get a thumbs down. if youre a walker/ tourist in the area i would reccomend the boat inn, 200 metres down river which has the same riverside scenery, cheaper pints and a friendly landlord. though they dont do meals, they do serve fresh, locally made pastrys and pies.

The pub sits on the bank of the river Severn just outside of iron bridge. One would have thought holding a beautiful setting would then afford you a nice dining experience… don’t be fooled. Whole meal sent back as chips were black cold and hard. Fish didn’t have any batter.. mushy peas looked ok. Not one of the management team visited our table to see what the issue was. The meal was removed from the bill. Where is the customer service??? I was one of 15 people celebrating a 60th birthday meal. Spending between £500-£600 in total in the establishment. I am very very disappointed to go home hungry from a restaurant on a Saturday night. Never in all my years have I experienced a total lack of customer service. I wrote an email to express my distraction, small wonder no one has even bother to reply. Please think twice if you are thinking of dining here… you will be disappointed.

Myself and my friends have had quite a few meals here over the years. We attended for Sunday lunch on 10th December at 3pm. The restaurant was really busy when we arrived as they were finishing off alot of tables of earlier lunches so we did not expect brilliant service. It took 30 mins for someone to take our order. Wait for starter was reasonable, small delay and then lunch came. All was OK with food. 30 mons passed again and still had dirty plates on table. 4 female serving staff had disappeared and one male holding things down. He came to clear table asked of we wanted pudding and said yes we would like to look at menu. 4 plates cleared but still dishes on table He never returned with dessert menu. After another 30 mins and no longer prepared to wait we paid the bill and left. My partner went to toilet before leaving to find all 3 female serving staff huddled around a laptop at top of pub watching football with no regard foemthe remaining customers in pub. I totally accept they needed a break but it was like they had clocked off completely. Overall we have had bad service on most occasions so we will not be returning. Watching football at back of pub was totally unprofessional and your customers should.be your priority. I used to run a food establishment and I did not stop till all customers were served and happy. Shame that you cannot get your service right but will be finding an Ironbridge alternative moving forward

I can’t fault the location: next to the river Severn in a quiet rural location. When we arrived we were shown to a table by a window overlooking the river. Could it get any better. No it couldn’t. We ordered some drinks and our mains. There were a few other customers in and way off crowded but it still took 30 minutes for our food to arrive. When it did come I immediately noticed that the tender stem broccoli and french beans were absent. The waitress said they would be there, maybe under the meat and potatoes. I don’t know any chef who would hide food but I obliged by moving the food to the side to reveal (roll of drums) nothing. She then said she would get the kitchen to cook some quickly. In a couple of minutes she came back with a plate of steaming broccoli. Hooray! But no beans. Boo! The waitress and another member of staff then studied the menu and agreed there should be beans and that the kitchen would produce them quickly. 15 minutes later I inquired where my beans had got to because they hadn’t arrived with me. 2 minutes later a red hot bowl containing inedible raw french beans arrived. I left them, finished my meal and asked for the bill from which I was prepared to ask for a discount. In stead of an amount of about the £40 I was expecting it was for £105. I laughed out loud and said I would not be paying this bill which was clearly for another table. The ‘correct’ bill arrived but was a lot lower than it should have been. I don’t know if this was another error or that they had decided to give me a discount: nobody came and apologised or explained. Needless to say I said nothing and assumed it was the closest I would get to a ‘Sorry’. I have given a generous score of 2 as the food that my wife and I did eat was tasty.

Food was really good but one child’s meal was wrong as we ordered pizza, chips and cucumber not the sausage and chips. No apology, took meal back and came back with just cucumber so five year old not very impressed! Chips were cold on arrival (likely the ones taken back) the pizza arrived later. We ordered sharing platter for pudding as could not decide. It arrived with no plates, waiter then said he would get some and came back with 3. When we came to sort bill, we said that the child’s meal should not be charged for and the waitress behind the bar disagreed on the basis that the cucumber and chips arrived and we only had to wait for the pizza…. Really, clearly no training or customer is right mentality. No effort to resolve, very confrontational and shame as we spent nearly £150 on this meal. Bad service and overpriced food :( Arrived at 11:55 to be told they don’t open until 12 so we went and sat outside. We had booked for 12 but chose to sit outside. 12:05 went inside to get some drinks, the lady behind the bar literally looked like she had eaten a wasp….blunt and not even remotely hospitable. Advised a tab cannot be kept if dining outside. Gave us three menus (party of 4) and advised a waitress would come to take the order. The waitress came over about 10 minutes later (perfect time to wait), and we gave the order. One of the party cannot eat butter but ordered the cod, £17, when asking if the potatoes can be not buttered she advised that they have already been prepared and already buttered, with little to offer as an alternative, it was agreed upon chips instead. The meals were quick to arrive but the cod was missing two of the items listed (prawns and snap peas). No waitress attended the table after delivering the food so this could be rectified. The burger looked like (and tasted) like frozen patties. In short, overpriced, poor quality food and bad service. Would come again for drinks by the river only but definitely crossed off our list of places to eat again.

Booked to go here on recommendation - wouldn’t go there again!!! I have travelled the world and this is the first time ever that I have had to go on a timed waiting list just to order food!!! When we first arrived we had booked a table for a meal and we were placed in the conservatory. Not a problem. We ordered drinks then the last member of the party arrived and they had to bring a small dog with them. We were told we would have to go in the bar or outside. We opted to go outside as the weather was lovely and it is a lovely location. What we didn’t realise is that when you arrive the clock starts ticking … you have to wait 45 mins before you can even order!!! What we weren’t told is that when you move outside you have to go right back to the beginning and start waiting for another 45 mins!!!! And this was genuinely just to order food!!! We tried to order drinks at the bar only to be told it was table service only. They said they would send someone out. After asking twice and unfortunately having to get a little assertive we finally got someone to take a drinks order. I asked how long it would be before we could order food - we were told we had 15 mins to go. We eventually ordered food - burgers, chips, pizza, nothing really challenging and we’re told it would be another 45 mins!!! An hour later we got our food, was it worth the wait??? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! It was overpriced, over cooked and pretty grimm. There was absolutely no excuse for such poor service there were service staff coming out of every door. I really couldn’t understand how they worked the service. I wouldn’t recommend the Half Moon, highly overrated and definitely not worth the wait. Location is beautiful but I recommend taking a picnic!!!

Nice location by the river.Menu isn’t that extensive, also no ‘Sunday roast’ on a Sunday. Orders were taken promptly however.Starter of nachos - really good, the high point in fact.Main: The steak we ordered was quite full of gristle sadly. The beef burger was cremated and should have been much rarer but the blue cheese I opted for did at least disguise that burnt taste. Kids portion of sausage, chips and beans was disappointing as it used those really cheap sausages, and at £6.50 for a kids portion its not the cheapest kids meal you’ll find around. Side of halloumi fries were quite good. Chips generally were a bit over cooked.Generally it was a little disappointing, but given the nachos were good and the location is nice, it’s 2 stars not 1.

We stayed here for one night as we were going to watch Tom Jones at the QE2 arena. It is a lovely quiet little place, huge carpark ,next to a beautiful river. So peaceful and relaxed. Only a few rooms but room was nice and bed was comfortable. We only had breakfast there but it was great! Massive even though it was the medium. Was all cooked to perfection. Will definitely go back again. Set near Ironbridge too so lots to see in the area.Only issue is the taxi services(nothing to do with the hotel) as you can only order taxis so had to do a bit of waiting .Staff were really friendly and helpful very happy customer x

We arrived at the pub and was served within a few minutes for our drink orders. We was given our menus. However when it came to choosing my choice wasn’t available then was told a few other things wasn’t available too. That’s fine as not all places have everything all the time. The server was patient until I chose my back up. The only downside was that every time you ordered something they wanted a payment straight away and not have it on a tab. It didn’t bother us as we was sitting outside (maybe this was the reason) looking out onto the river looking at the ducks. The price was reasonable as the portions were a good size. Definitely would go back again

Service was very good, I had beef burger and my wife had the veggie beanburger.Mine was ok, bun was far too dry, but the issue was with my wife’s burger. It tasted of perfume and was inedible, she left it. No one came and asked if we were enjoying our meals. I expected better quality food for £13.95 each.

Very unpleasant Sunday afternoon experience. Arrived for our 3.30pm lunch booking to be told that there is a half hour waiting list on orders as we have asked to sit outside, and not inside. This after two staff members confirmed nothing about our booking would change when we arrived and moved tables. After 18 months ofCovid business struggle, surely the hospitality industry does not turn away customers supporting local, on a rare sunny afternoon, because it’s a little too far of a walk from the kitchen.

The meal was bad l could not eat it. l said this to the waitress. Her response, "OH". I thought maybe it was just me so was going to leave it at that but the table next to me also complained about the same meal. So then l asked for the manager, whose response was that l should have complained earlier. I said l shouldn't have to pay for a bad meal but she continued to remonstrate with me as if it was my fault and not a bad meal. She still charged me for the meal but with a discount. Sorry bad attitude; not good enough !

very poorly ran pub for the circumstances we are in at the moment with covid-19 going on. Staff are very rude & obnoxious.Booking a table is essential, which is fine but when you ask for a table for just drinks & when you turn up & get food menus rammed down your throat!! Staff talking about you & slagging you off cuz your not having food!! I don't see what the actual problem is, simple things like ordering drinks no ice please...so what do 2 drinks come with...ice!!So everybody is abiding by the social distance rules, apart from the staff who are literally brushing past customers constantly. Check & trace is not being done, people walk in for drinks & sit outside willy nilly nothing been recorded.I actually asked to move tables as the staff where nearly touching us as they walked past every couple of minutes, & I got the small waitress with big attitude telling me I couldn't move as the tables are booked, when there was clearly 2 tables free to move too. The customer is always right & if I didnt feel safe due to the staff coming too close then surely I can move. The way she spoken to us was disgusting & the look she gave us was evil. & then she went off to her colleagues to slag us off!! Very professional outfit!!I didn't feel safe enough to stay any longer for another round of drinks & quite frankly I didn't want to give them any more money than I needed too. & then the bill came conveniently wrong twice trying to scam us out of a few pounds(hoping we didn't notice). So we spoken to the "manager" which had a chip on her shoulder too, clearly wasn't bothered or cared what we where saying!Very sad experience with poor staff who clearly don't give a sh*t about the customers. There is a photo frame in the mens toilets maybe the staff should go & look at it & memorise it!!It reads "Attitude is a small thing that makes a big difference"

We walked from Ironbidge along the footpath (took about 40 mins) and came across this WONDERFUL pub. The setting is idyllic: straight on the river with a lovely spot for paddling. Dogs are welcome. The serving staff were so kind and attentive. We went on a Wednesday for the ‘eat out scheme’ and whilst it was busy there were lots of tables and space for everyone to enjoy this brilliant spot. They have a clear system in place to ensure that everyone can order food from their tables once they have taken a menu from the bar. The staff explained that they are open Wed- Sunday and are receiving huge numbers of enquiries on their phone lines. You can’t book the outside tables but people are constantly coming and going so you will easily get one if you are patient. The place was spotless and is clearly extremely well managed. We had a lovely lunch and will be back soon. Thank you.

I work with a charity in Telford, and chose The Half Moon to have our Christmas meal. The Christmas menu was affordable, and varied, catering to vegetarians as well as having a gluten free option. First of all I have to say that, Kayleigh the Manageress was beyond accommodating. Within a days notice she was willing to add two extra guests and on the day, change the orders! The location being on the river's edge, was beautiful, with ample parking, and a very relaxed atmosphere. We were seated by the window overlooking the river. The building itself is beautiful and a mix of the clean modern look with little hints dotted around of the areas history. The food portions were very generous, and absolutely delicious. The servers were swift and efficient with bringing out the food and clearing away. All in all, I had a fantastic night out with delicious food, reasonably priced drinks and wonderful customer service at a beautiful little pub at the side of the river. If you haven't been to The Half Moon, I definitely urge you to pay them a visit!

I had to work in the area and booked The Half Moon at short notice. Arriving in the dark, I didn't actually realise until morning what a picturesque setting this place is set in. On the bank of a river with a lot of greenery and set in a very olde worlde style area. Definitely one for the shortlist in the summer.Check in was very easy, no forms to fill in just taken up to a very spacious, clean and well presented room. All the usual amenities were available, including a spare razor blade which you don't normally get.The bar had 3 real ale options which is always a winner for me. I ate in the restaurant area and there was a good selection of very keenly priced meals available. The Chicken Bhuna was really good. Breakfast was plentiful, a bit too much for me, probably should have gone for the smaller option but I just about got through it. Very easy check out and away I went. Extremely good all round.

Our group spent over £300 on food and drinks in the space of 4 hrs and when asking for a drink at 21.55 we were refused and to much of our disappointment we were met with an aggressive supersivor stating she is in charge and no more drinks were available as we were the only customers left in the bar yet clearly the website states it's open till 11pm and no last orders were called or any notice given. Very dissapointed and I feel more training and people skills need to be given to staff.

I booked a table for two on Saturday for our wedding anniversary, when we got there the gardens were very busy as it was a nice night , we went to the very busy bar where a young man took our orders and after 2 very flat beers my husband opted for a Guinness, we told the young man we had a reservation and he pointed to a table that was in the bar area I asked if we could have a table in the other room because I felt like we were in a cattle market and didn’t really want people who were at the bar watching me eat my food ,he said the other room was full due to a function so I went to the table and was just trying to move it slightly near a pillar for some privacy when a waitress came and said you just can’t pick a table and move it to which I reply that this was our table but I was just moving it for some privacy she then went to check and told me what I already knew , we ordered our food which was ok but couldn’t hear ourselves think , so we ate up paid and left , as we were leaving I looked into the other room and it was practically empty and there was a table for two which was also empty which we could of sat at , was very disappointed and ruined our anniversary will think twice about booking again

Food was an improvement on a few yrs back but £13.50 for a giant hot dog a few chips and a bit of coleslaw is a bit much. If it wasn’t for the location I doubt very much it would make any money. Visited with friends on Saturday 10th August 2019. Met by a lovely waitress who took our order. I ordered a goats cheese starter and Lasagna for my main. The starter was nice but omg the Lasagna was horrible. It was almost impossible to swallow the cheese topping as it was so stringy and chewy i just couldn’t swallow it. The white sauce it was sitting on was like eating white flour and water, really stodgy. It is the worst Lasagna I’ve ever eaten. I didn’t complain but the waitress then noticed and I had to tell her why. She went away and came back saying that she was told it’s one of the best dishes they serve and it’s a customer preference. She offered me a desert in its place but I didn’t want a desert. The meal was not taken off our bill until a friend complained. The place is set right by the river and looks lovely but I won’t be returning.

The manager did nothing to help and told us if we waited for 30 mins a table would be available but we would just get scraps of what was left of the carvery. Food and service were good, I just wanted to bring to your attention that your chicken tikka masala on your main menu and your daily promotion leaflet show different spice ratings the main menu said it had 1 spice level but the promo leaflet labelled it a 2 spice level, I found this to be very misleading and put me off ordering it as i couldnt make an accurate call on the spice level of the dish, it showed the same calories so I assume it's the same dish. Thank you
