Haldi in Edinburgh, City of

This bistro is 1.5 miles from the East end of Princes St. On the bus route up North & South bridge to Newington (about 10 minutes). This is small, friendly, elegant restaurant. The owner is so kind and welcoming. As local residents we love coming here as the quality of the ingredients and cooking is superb. It’s not your typical Indian menu. Dishes we enjoy are Crispy fried okra, Dirty Samosa chat, Prawn Malabar, Ghee roast chicken and Lal mas. They also serve a Tasting Menu. Vegetarian/Vegans also catered for. A small wine list. Would love to see a Tapss style evening event as their amuse bouche was outstanding.

This is a lovely restaurant serving delicious food.- try the Indo-Chinese chili fish - so tasty! As is the sea bass. All plates beautifully presented. Can't wait to go back!

Super indian-styled food served beautifully and artfully that elevates this restaurant above others in the category. The menu is absent of the usual standard fayre. No bhuna or vindaloo here. Only a relatively short menu of 'proper' meals with no generic 'curry' in sight. The menu is really interesting. Presentation of the food was super. Flavours were deep and layered - not just a case of how hot you like your spice. It was our first visit- walked past many times ... and the will become a new favourite for us.

We are well travelled and set a high bar for dining, especially living in Melbourne. The food and service at Haldi were world class in all respects. The service was superb. Haldi is not your normal Indian restaurant serving curries. Each dish combines flavours and ingredients innovatively and is presented in an attractive way. This establishment comes highly recommended.

We've had takeaway a few times and always really loved it. Great flavours and excellent vege options. Couple of weeks ago, we decided to sit in. Couldn't be more pleased with the service and the food. Whilst waiting for our starters.anr mains, the chef Sent out an amuse- voucher which was lovely. A wee pakora with really intense coriander sauce. The rest of the vege options we chose were loved by all, crispy okra, tandoori broccoli, dirty samosa chat. ( Can't remember the rest). Awesome flavour and well presented dishes. Definitely worth it.

Best Indian in Edinburgh by a mile. Amazing, well thought out menu, delicious food, and charming attentive staff. A little out of the city centre but quick easy bus or taxi ride, and SO worth it. Try the Bhel. And the scallops. And the prawns….

My first visit here. The food was excellent. Very interesting short menu - was still hard to make a choice as all sounded amazing. I had the poussin to start - outstanding - I was almost in a trance like state eating it! Lamb shank for main, which was delicious, although I was having plate envy around the table. Finished with the carrot pudding - wasn't sure what to expect - if you go, order this - another outstanding dish.

Lovely restaurant. Ordered lots off the menu and everything was delicious. Staff were great and really friendly. Make sure you book as lots of walk ins had to be turned away. Always a good sign!

Really enjoyed our meal last night. Some flavours not often seen made this a treat. The home made chutney served with the poppadoms as well as the regular mango included an almost smokey tomato and a mixed berry that had a fruity taste with some heat to it, without the bitterness associated with lime. Traditional biriyani cooked in a bread sealed pot made up our mains and did not disappoint. The chick peas side and black lentil dal made for a fine main course. We finished of with sumptuous gulub jamen. A great meal.
