Hakkasan Mayfair in City of London, Westminster

2nd time coming here and let me tell you, they have improved. The food was soooo good, the portions were on point I absolutely loved it. I’ll definitely be back again for the duck salad.

Unjustifiably resting on its laurels. Food is good, but in attempting to make the food quirky, they have made restaurant-anywhere standards hard to eat, eg prawn toasts reimagined as vast balls, or duck pancakes as stacks too large to eat with chopsticks and too messy to eat with hands. Dishes are presented as sharing dishes, which makes life very difficult for parties with a variety of allergies. Vegetarian options are unimaginative and mediocre. Noise levels are intolerable. We ate in a private room, but the music being played outside was so loud we could barely hear the person sitting next to us speaking. Lighting is ultra-low - use your phone torch to read the menu. Doors on the ladies loos are so heavy that they are hard to open and do not lock properly. Water sensors are set so far back that it is hard to wash hands afterwards. Overall, unbelievably expensive for a less than average experience.

Ordered one of the set menus and was pretty disappointed in the value and service provided. Service was pretty haphazard and terse with maybe 3 of the 8 items in the course menu within the boundary of quality and balance you'd pay $200 per person for. It was hard to appreciate the atmosphere given the disappointment of both service and quality. If you're looking for a special meal to celebrate an occasion, I'd look elsewhere.

The food was good. Cocktails were also good but the waiter who served us was very arrogant. That ruined a lot. We sat in the lower room.

Impeccable. Went for a celebratory lunch with family. I expected very good food, but expectations were exceeded. Beautiful ambience, chic, and sleek interior design; overall quite dark, which adds to the ambience. Very good service from the moment we approached the restaurant door. Delicious food, we went with the set Shou menu. Also very good Riesling. Cocktails were a real treat, as well. Wonderful place!!!! ♡♡♡

I brought my mum to Hakkasan for her 60th Birthday on the 27 March. We went for the Pearl set menu - wow! It was absolutely fantastic. Portions were extremely generous and we couldn’t decide what we liked best! Our server(s) were brilliant and very attentive, they helped us select drinks (which I’m thankful for their advice, they were spot on!). The signature desserts were delicious. We had an incredibly special time and it is a no brainer that I would recommend this. I hope to visit again very soon - 10/10 all round

Duck two ways and dim sum would definitely be the highlight of Hakkasan food-wise for me. A selection of dishes to share and try a bit of everything is ideal. Cocktails, loud music, and high-end dining.

Really great food and atmosphere. I can't recommend the whole Peking duck enough. Service was disorganized - we couldn't get anyone to take our drink order for over 30 minutes. When we finally got our food order in, the servers walked away before going around to get drink orders and it took another extended period of time to come back and finally take drink orders for the entire table.

Update 2024: Went back. Everything was great as was their understanding generally of lactose intolerance. I’ve updated review to 5 stars. It was awesome. I have updated this review after re-trying a range of relevant competitors to Hakkasan who have evidenced to me that this restaurant is still top of the pack for its price range. Historically Hakkasan has been a flawless experience, however there were some small hicups this time. The food was good to excellent as were the cocktails (in line with previous visits to Hakkasan). They should consider reviewing and improving their reservation/booking system and handling of issues. We had some issues with our reservation which were a bit surprising, however we were seated and it worked itself out. I have a lactose intolerance and staff are not fully trained on the different allergies/intolerances. The confusion between this and a milk/daily allergy caused some issues with ordering dishes even when explained. It may be worthwhile for them to update training on this. In the round the food and general ambience/staff is definitely good enough to put up with the service issues. Update 2024: Went back. Everything was great as was their understanding generally of lactose intolerance. I’ve updated review to 5 stars. It was awesome.

It was a great but nothing was done spectacular even though was stated birthday occasion here!

Beautiful food and experience was fantastic. First time here although we have been to different ones in the UAE. The only thing I would say is look after things in the cloakroom as I was asked to take my hat off which is fine, but they squashed it and didn’t take care of our things like they should.

Food and vibe was fantastic. The experience was unfortunately spoiled by the waiter at the end of the evening who ( in apparent cahoots with the sommelier) brought the bill, only to immediately take it back to add an extra bottle of wine ( I thought he was going to remove a glass of port that I had ordered and then cancelled). Fortunately when the bill came back and the number went up instead of down, I was on alert that something was going on and was quickly able to spot that an extra bottle of wine had been added to the bill. They did remove the bottle, but I do wonder how many are getting caught by the scam.

Love the food and environment is very good . People sitting next to us very happy while eating the food and even us . Very nice and dark environment. Very comfortable sitting. I will give 10 out of 5 hahaha. Thank you for hosting us❤️

Nice food and ambience. We were waiting quite a while for one course but the (unprompted) free cocktails kept us happy

So we went here for my birthday celebration. As stater we had: Crispy beef: was really good really crispy and the sauce was TOP. Duck salad: one is the best dishes I ever had, the duck was crispy and the mandarin on it gave a special flavour and really balanced Slow cooked Ibérico: really good in flavour and the meat was smooth. Maybe was lacking a bit of the original flavour of ibérico pork but was good. Spring rolls: really basic nothing from the other world. MAINS: CHICKEN SATAY: just love it. The skiing was crispy and the sauce the best I ever had WAGYU SIRLOIN: was a little bit lacking in flavour and tbh I the kind of meat that would be better presented in a hot stone. But at the end was good Silver cod: not even close to my expectation as the sauce didn’t match with the fish. From my personal opinion. Noodles: suuuper tasty and really good, can’t fail ordering it. Broccoli: for being a vegetable is a little bit expensive l, had good flavour. DESSERT: The chocolate bomb: was really simple nothing super amazing. I had lot of expectation in the dessert but was really basic. Wine: Gewürztraminer, Alsace: is a really fruity wine, long lasting flavour but as most people would say is sweet. But really good it matches perfectly with the kind of food we had. Service wise, I was expecting much more, there was a completely lack of engagement with our waiter, I can understand they could be tired but at the end work in hospitality is like being in a theatre, you need to smile and give your best. The check back was done after we finished the starter, so that means it wasn’t really focused on the service, as I check most of the tables next to us were on desserts on just chilling after the meal. I returned the silver cod as it wasn’t my cup of tea but needed to call him and trying to get attention. With the sommelier I had a really weird feeling as I asked for a fruity wine and she referred to it as a sweet white wine, so I just followed my own knowledge on wine. then any manager came to check on us if everything was fine even though after sending back a dish, no manager came to check on us. Over all: Food wise is really good, it deserves to go just to try, Service wise there is room for improvement, what would you expect for a restaurant as Hakkasan is a service 10/10 but this time I would go for a 5/10.

I’ve been here before five years ago and more recently to the one near Tottenham Court Road. Every time I’ve been the food had been at an exceptional level. I was by myself, I do believe that Hakkasan is an experience best shared. So you can mmmMMMmmm over the table at each other. I had Wagyu and lobster dim sum. I would’ve gone for the “premium selection” but I’m allergic to scallop and there is scallop in most of the dim sum in that selection. They were devine. The lobster was fresh and plentiful. The wagyu melted in my mouth. I then chose roast duck as my main as I’d been discussing it the day before with a friend. It was delicious. I had steamed rice and oak Choi with it. I ended up dipping my rice into the sauce/broth from the duck. As a portion this was enough to make me pretty full so I didn’t opt for dessert but in the past they’ve been great. Service was attentive and not overwhelming. I was well looked after. If you want more atmosphere then I would suggest going in the evening as opposed to lunch. It’s always busier and the restaurant looks nice with the lights down low in my opinion. It’s kid friendly but it is relatively expensive (albeit good value) so think about that before taking younger children. 100% would go again.

The service in Hakassan is not welcoming enough for a michelin star restaurant. The sweet and sour pork is just as the same as any local restaurant in china. Moreover, the temperature of the pork is not high enough since the temperature of the dish should be hot in order to be delicious. The fish is disappointing since the flavour is not seasoned optimally. Using a stone wok for this dish is very difficult and clearly the chef did not realize that. Putting garlic and caramelised spring onion blindly simply does not bring out the flavour of the fish. The dim sum is creative, but its upsides are only that. The chef should really try to learn how to make a dim sum. Dim sum is not easy to make and it takes tremendous skill such as sushi. Years of practice is needed for that. In general, the siu mai and the shrimp is not good at all. The tofu and aubergine is all right. However, this lunch experience simply does not show what a michelin star restaurant should bring out to its customers. Its just awful for a price of 200 pounds. Thats all I have to say.

From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and went above and beyond to accommodate my two young babies, ensuring that my birthday dinner was truly special. The service is absolutely incredible, the vibe is so cool, I just wish the food was as good, it was a little bland and I was relying heavily on the soy sauce and chilli oil for any sort of flavour. Cocktails are amazing though. Duck salad is a must.

Food was ok, different portion that in Hanway place, went to Hanway place for the first time last week as I usually only doo Mayfair and it was such a better and pleasant experience than Mayfair. Mayfair is too overrated, the waiters aren’t as friendly and are quite abrupt, and Asian lady was serving us and she was so miserable. During our time there, they kept dropping plates on the floor, they also had staff carrying huge boxes in the middle of the area where we sat, when we complained about it, they said there’s nothing they can do, they can only do their best not to hit my friend who was there for the first time. I overhyped the restaurant so much for her and she was so disappointed. Service was rushed, food was bland, overall bad experience and I go there a lot. Safe to say that I won’t be back in Mayfair for a while unless I’m invited, Hanway Place is much better.

Immaculate. Food was incredible - not sure how you lost the Michelin star but you will retain it. Then again, Michelin is not everything - the happiness and delight on the faces of your customers exceeds all of that. Many thanks for a wonderful evening - especially the chef and the wonderful waiter Peter whose recommendations were perfect!

Ordered veg food and staff mixed it up twice. Disaster. Over priced and over hyped. Hanway palace is x10 better less busy.

Been to Hanaway Place many times, but not recently. Tried Mayfair because the location was better. Had the silk menu, 3 duck pancakes each and apparently the rest of the duck was in the dry rice. Was just scraps. Food wasn’t good. The waiter kept interfering with our food when we was trying to plate it. He was a nice man but felt like he was playing with our food it’s was off putting. The steak had an over powering taste of burnt and ruined our pallets. I did not feel comfortable to make a complaint at the time but wish I did now as our bill was £800 for 2 people. I would rate the food as a strong 2. Complete let down. I was told after by a friend this is not a Michelin restaurant anymore and I can see why. The price didn’t reflect that change though.

Il cibo è delizioso: oltre ai meravigliosi dum sum anche insalata di crispy duck e tanti altri piatti. Dolci sopra la media. Ottimo vino con ampia scelta al calice. Servizio veloce, con camerieri super gentili ed efficienti. Conto elevato ma in linea con quanto offerto. Un must a Londra per me.

I love this restaurant in Mayfair where you get the best dim sum ever. The environment is very pleasant, cool, nice music and nice people. The food is delicious: in addition to the wonderful dum sum also crispy duck salad and many other dishes. Desserts above average. Excellent wine with a wide choice by the glass. Fast service, with super friendly and efficient waiters. High bill but in line with what was offered. A must in London for me.

Went for the lunch menu! Good value for money, nice food

It was a busy night last night with the New Year Celebrations but this did not deter from the excellent food and service. There were two of us and be decided upon the signature menu - Shou. It did not disappoint. There was lost of dishes and plenty of food.Our takeaway favourites of the evening were - both starters the dumplings and duck salad, the Chilean Cod and the Pumpkin Caviar Dessert

First time here went for Chinese new year set menu, it is not bad, but maybe due to weekend and Chinese new year the restaurant became way too busy, dishes come really slow and hard to got in time service.

We had the taste of hakkasan menu. It was a really nice meal throughly enjoyed it. However the menu on the website is slightly misleading. When you click on the pic next to the dim sum it shows five but in the taste menu you only get three. The website menu should reflect what’s being sold.

First thing worth to mention is that this place is pretty loud, there is a DJ. A lot of tables, so no privacy I would say. Food is super delicious, a lot of staff is dedicated to your table. I am suggesting to take a lot of food and share. Big selection of wines and champagne. Duck salad was my favorite. Place is expensive and you need to books it weeks or even months in advance.

It started a bit slow and thank God the waiter that gave us the menu was not the one serving us through out. Food was very nice and the wine pairing was perfect. Highly recommend the tasting menu. Was filling enough for us.

Amazing food and amazing atmosphere. Great service especially from the lady from Malaysia. She was very polite and attentive. Man at the door around 6pm was also very helpful.

Had a fun dinner here (myself and two friends). Food was good, we ordered a lot of dim sum and some larger dishes, but service was terrible throughout our whole meal. We felt there were a lot of staff on the floor but it was nearly impossible to get their attention. On a positive note, when the wine I tried to order wasn’t available, the somm suggested another bottle I wouldn’t have gone for and it was great.

Absolutely love this place from the moment you walk in it has a wonderful sense of theatre. Design wise, it’s stunning. The service and food is exceptional. You can book a table, or just turn up after work for a cocktail, and some delicious bar snacks. I highly recommend. I have been coming here for years and it’s always my go to when in Mayfair. Everyone has recommended it to absolutely loves it here too.

What an amazing experience and awesome food, which is a culinary experience. My son & I visited here for lunch on Saturday 3rd February and it's our 2nd visit here. We opted again for the "Taste of Hakkasan" set menu at £39pp excluding the cocktail option. I do want to say a big thank you to your staff because my son tried using the chopsticks, whilst eating our starters, he knocked over his glass of beer resulting in smashed glass & beer everywhere. We left the table for around 15 mins whilst everything was cleared and cleaned, then a short while later, our starters were replaced at no extra cost. Service towards the end was a little slow but the restaurant was very busy, so still give 5 ⭐ In addition, the restaurant relaxed their clothing policy to allow my son to wear smart shorts as he has sensory issues wearing trousers. Final comment... we'll be back 🙂

Poor service in a shop with a very nice space and great music. The food doesn't make sense to analyze because in a set menu of £128/person the only thing worth it was the salad and the dim sum.

The experience was very nice, the food was fantastic and the portions were great. One problem = if its your birthday, do not expect a dessert on the house, which would have been a nice gesture.

For me it’s a big NO. I had already been to hakkasan before and always found it ‘ok’. Last night i went again with friends (to the mayfair one) and was really disappointed. Reservation was at 10pm, but the table wasn’t ready yet and the made us wait 25 minutes by the bar - which is completely unacceptable given the fact that they give the table away if you don’t turn up within 15 minutes of the booking. Once finally we get sat down, the table is kind of sticky (but you can’t see whether it’s clean or not, given the poor lighting). Service is rushed, staff unprepared and almost rude. Food is ok, but not michelin star level for sure. Toilet was also not the freshest. I wonder how they’ve retained the star for so many years. Everything very average, except for the bill (£500 between 3 people). Overrated. Thank you, next.

Food was not hot when arrived at the table, had to get up from the table 2 times to get a waiter to order drinks and to top it off the bill was massive. Not worth it at all, be warned peeps!

Food was very nice. The very loud lounge music was totally unnecessary, making a intimate Atmosphere and talk impossible. In a Michelin-Star-Restaurant with high prices like this I would expect much better cutlery and not just simple one. Due to the noise but also to the accent our service was almost not understandable. Small tables and tight sitting.

Great restaurant, the food was amazing! Me and my girlfriend went for the Plum Blossom experience and we really enjoyed. The waiter, Oleksandr was very professional and friendly and gave us excellent service! Overall highly recommend. I'll look forward to return.

We used to visit Hakkasan NYC at least twice a year. Unfortunately they shuttered during Covid. Was happy to discover the Mayfair outpost. There were five in our party. It’s always a guessing game as to how much food to order when there’s more than 3 at the table. We ordered what we thought would be sufficient, but the waiter insisted we order more. We added a second bowl of rice and left it at that. Turns out, we nailed the order. So I’m glad we didn’t take the waiter’s advice. That said, his service was top notch. Very courteous and present. The food was as I remember. Very tasty, lot of flavor, just the right amount of spice and was served quickly. Drinks were excellent, if a little on the small side (cocktails 2/3 full).. Had multiple desserts. All were 100%. Recommend the spare ribs, assorted dim sum, noodles, fried rice (very subtle, just right), spicy shrimp in a curry. Was nice to be back. Hope they open up NYC once more. 4 for atmosphere because the music was much too loud. And I like loud music. Just not loud EDM whilst eating.

Stunning Decor, great atmosphere, food was delicious, cocktails Devine, Hakkasan really is a whole experience. We have visited numerous times and yet it never disappoints!

Most of the food was great especially their signature duck, some of their dishes did fall a bit flat which is surprising for the price. Waiters were very friendly but there was a bit of a mixup and we were offered a free desert only to see it then appear on our bill. We were going to pay for it anyway so didn't say anything but we're a little disappointed as it had been offered. I would go again purely for their duck but I would maybe only order that and some dessert as they were the standouts.

Ok overall experience but not fine dining. Seated next to the service station which was a bit off-putting and despite this had to ask for attention a couple of times. The waiter, whilst pleasant, kept bumping into our table while serving the adjacent guests, felt a bit like we were in the cheap seats. Nice food but not likely to return.

Good things in life don’t come cheap and one doesn’t always get good things just because they think they have paid enough for it. However, with Hakkasan, the experience beats the price.

Food was good but felt like I had an audience watching me the whole night due to where we were seated. A group of 5 waiters were stood opposite me about 3 steps away and just watched us all night, never breaking eye contact. Felt like a very judgemental vibe for such a pricey restaurant. Would’ve felt more comfortable seated elsewhere.

Food was good, however service was poor and really made the experience feel a waste of money. Not sure if this was because it was a 5pm sitting in-between peak lunch / dinner time? Waited ages for a menu, had to ask for drinks twice with a big wait after asking. Same for soy sauce and the bill! Felt almost invisible most the time which was a shame.

For the price I would expect better service and food. The way they brought the food did not work, I finished my starter before my friends even got theirs but then all their food including the main arrived and they finished before my main turned up, I understand the concept but then had to be served in a timely manner. Living of the brand name unfortunately.

Visited in December in a group of six, and despite the reputation, we found the food to be average, tables cramped and service was very poor. Needless to say, we won’t be rushing back.

Gastronomic Chinese restaurant which is a change from the usual Chinese. Subdued atmosphere, trendy background music, well presented, refined and delicate dishes. Cocktails👌🏻 Impeccable service. Good surprise. Worth its star!

This has to be one of my favourite restaurants in London. Food is fantastic however you do feel like you are at some ratchet restaurant due to the lack of dress code enforcement. Not much difference between dining here and McDonald’s if you observed the crowd. Would be nice for such a nice restaurant to stop people in hoodies or sandals and socks and enforce a better dress code so the atmosphere doesn’t feel cheap.
