Small informal restaurant in the heart of Soho. Nice simple menu all cooked freshly in the open kitchen. Not many seats but it does move quickly. Well worth a stop here rather than the myriad of generic chain places that blight every other bit of central London.

This used to be my favorite place but recently the food quality have gone down from average Vietnamese taste in London to bad. May be they have changed owner as the shop front and sign have changed. The service was okay before but this recent visits, I notice the waiters are really rude to customers.

Good Vietnamese Food at a very reasonable price for Central London. Service Charge is included in the final bill at 10%. Drinks are a bit more expensive than most places. Enjoy the food. - open till 22:30 on a Saturday. Recommended - Enjoy

I have been here twice before a couple of years back, remembering the food was actually decent and the owner Vietnamese; unlike the one in Chinatown, opposite Wong Kei. Since then there have been a few more Vietnamese restaurants opening in the West End…mostly bad – I thought Viet should be revisited. The place is small and unpretentious (unlike Cay Tre on Dean Street – which is bland by the way) – it does not dress itself as such, though it could be a little more presentable. Being a lone diner I was sat on the bar and stool against the wall, potentially sharing with 4 other lone diners…which eventually there were; more the merrier I suppose. The place was pretty packed out for lunch, with parties of 2 or more having to wait for a couple of minutes. The waitress whizzed round quick enough, the one serving me was friendly and smiley but I can see another serving the other punters was a little short on charm…though not rude. But hey, this is unpretentious dining right?!I had:Bi Cuon - shredded pork with toasted ground rice, vermicelli rice-noodle, salad in a rice-paper wrap; is as expected…a little bland. Don’t get me wrong, Bi Coun is usually like this and what brings it out is the dipping sauce...but these Bi Cuon rolls were a little on the small side. Bo La Lot - beef in lemongrass wrapped in betel leaf and grilled/sautéed was nice, though lacked the strong flavours but not flavourless; could have been better but not awful…above average. The beef inside was tender and as expected very aromatic; due to the grilled/sautéed betel leaf. Both of these appetisers were served with a fish-sauce based dipping sauce which was nice enough, though there is a bottle of ‘raw’ fish-sauce at the table for the punters to add more into the dipping sauce should they so wish. Also a bottle of chilli sauce. The Bo la Lot can be dipped in Mam Mem; a shrimp paste based dipping sauce…which is a lot more pungent – I would have liked to see this, but understand about catering for the area and demographic.I had Bun Bo Hue – medium udon type rice noodle in a spicy broth which usually includes thin slices of marinated and boiled beef shank, oxtail and pig's knuckles…at the very least. It can also include cubes of congealed pig blood and other ‘interesting’ additions. Each restaurant will have its own take on any of the dishes mentioned. Viet’s version of Bun Bo Hue had thin slices of boiled beef and fish-roll, so a little thin on the filling. The broth was different but tasty, not overly strong (spicy and flavour)…again, catering for the demography of the area; it was sweeter than what I would associate with this dish…but rather nice. All of this with a can of coke for eighteen pounds…not bad at all. Not the best Vietnamese, for that you need to visit Kingsland Road in Hackney but for the West End - you cannot go far wrong with Viet for Vietnamese cooking. I would give this 3.5 out of 5, since I cannot do that…a 4. I would go back.I have read reviews mentioning the Thai Curry and other none Vietnamese dishes were not up to scratch. Why go to a Vietnamese restaurant and not eat Vietnamese food?! It is rather like going to an Italian and order kebab…just because they have it on the menu.

I go there quite often for lunch with my colleagues. The place is quite small but we're always able to find a sit. My usual here is the veggie Pho. It is delicious! As the chef says, instead of seasoning it with soy sauce, sprinkle some fish sauce so it doesn't spoil the delicious broth! Oh! The prawns summer rolls are also my favourites!

Very disappointing visit. I don't know if we just picked a bad time or the chef was in a bad mood, but my girlfriends rice was way undercooked and dry (waitress admitted the rice wasn't good), toppings sparse and the thai red curry quite possibly the worst we ever had; no coconut milk, tasted and looked like hospital food. The Vietnamese spring rolls were dry and likely pre-made frozen and deep fried, not freshly made. However, my beef Pho broth was quite good. Shame about the low quality of the rest of the meal. It's a cheap diner with lousy service and low quality food. Will not be returning.

If you are looking for well priced, fresh, delicious Vietnamese food I can't recommend the Viet Pho Noodle Bar enough. The Special Pho and vegetable spring rolls are yummy and they do this minced meat starter wrapped in leaves (I can't remember the name but always order it). The place is much better and more authentic than Wagamama and similar chain restaurants who I think put way too much salt in their food which can be tasteless. The only downside is the restaurant is a bit cramped which means it's never a stop for a long, lazy meal but if it's a quick, nutritious Vietnamese meal you are after Viet Pho is where it's at.

Been here a few times before. This time though I noticed to prices have gone up and the food lacks some ingredients. The salad in my summer rolls was not at all fresh and the pho didn't taste that great. A shame it's gone down hill.

This restaurant has now become "VietPho" although not sure if it's still the same owners, it appears to be run by chinese people and the main menu is about 2/5ths Thai dishes. The address is still the same and the exterior has been updated to reflect the new name.Nevertheless the quality is still good, the portions are substantial and relatively good value for money (£7.50 for any Pho - beef, chicken, meat balls, prawn, tofu).Service was nice and the place is popular whilst being quite small so expect a fast turnaround with the possibility of sharing tables for solo or dining couples.

We found this restaurant by asking people if they knew of it and finally located it. An unpreposessing elevation on to Greek Street, it is more of a cafe than a restaurant. I love this type of eating establishment for the food often means more than the decor. We wandered in and sat down, the waiter explained that the chef hadn't arrived yet! We ordered summer roll and a salad - despite the lack of a chef - and they arrived. The summer rolls arrived and the taste was just wonderful. The salad (Goi Du Du) arrived and the flavour was exquisite with the Asian herbs and chilli dressing coming to the fore. For the main course we had a Bun Cha Gio Ga (Vermicelli rice noodles, fresh herbs, beansprouts, etc) with the noodles served cold, just like in Vietnam. Wonderful flavours and far more delicate than other Asian cuisines. This is a small restaurant (we arrived at midday, ten minutes later and people were queing up) but I took some time to inspect the toilets. they were old but spotless. Thank you to the friendly staff and the chef who finally arrived, only a few minutes late.We look forward to eating here again in the very near future.

If you fancy some quick, tasty, filling food in central London there are all the normal fast food joints. I enjoy them occasionally but i prefer something like you get at Wong Kei's or Viet Noodle bar. It's not fancy - but you're not going to stay there for long - but it is in a great location, it's great value (ie cheap) and the food is good. By good I mean tasty, fresh, prepared on the premises, relatively healthy and also filling but not too heavy. The menu has everything you would expect in a Vietnamese cafe : spring rolls, phos etc and they are all done well here and served in double quick time by the efficient waitress.Prices are great value : starters £3/4, main phos about £6 and side dishes £4. They serve tea and soft drinks and have a £3 corkage if you bring your own wine (but you can get away with your own beer for nothing sometimes)Once you've finished, your plates will be whisked away but there's no rush to leave unless the place is full (which it gets at weekend evenings). So a great value standby in central London for tasty, fresh well cooked food served double quick if you need it.Recommended
