Hakka in Cheltenham

Possibly the worst chinese takeaway I’ve ever had. Crispy chilli beef was dry, hard & inedible. Chilli chips totally under cooked, sweet & sour prawns soft with no flavour. Waste of money.

Third time of ordering here and definitely the best eaten in the area so far. Prawn crackers were on the house and they're always not too greasy. Had the Singapore noodles. Perfect. Partner had a schezhawn dish and was very nice. They are always lovely and polite when ordering and collecting. Great variety of dishes too.

Hakka used to be excellent, with well presented delicious food. We stopped using them a while ago after a couple of bad orders in a row but decided to give them another chance as our ex-favourite takeaway. I wish we hadn't as we found ourselves nearly £40 out of pocket for what was an extremely disappointing meal. The crispy chilli beef was soft and chewy with a very thin tasteless sauce - almost like they had just poured watered down sweet chilli sauce over some reheated soggy beef. The Siu Mai was cold and chewy with a very watery sauce. The seaweed was so dry, it felt like it had been left out for days. It was also very sparse. The BBQ ribs were dry and the sauce tasteless. Overall we ate very little of the meal and I called the restaurant to give them the opportunity to rectify the situation. The lady on the phone was very rude and refused any kind of compensation, stating that our comments would be "fed back to the owner" who was conveniently unavailable to speak to.

I usually order from Hakka and have done several times in the past - never had any issues and the food is usually top notch. However tonight all the food arrived stone cold, even though it came very quickly.. the standard of food was also terrible which isn’t usual for them. Crispy items were stodgy, curry was cold and meat was fatty with skin, undercooked batter etc. 90% of the food ended up in the bin as it was almost inedible. Very disappointed and left still feeling hungry. Requested a refund - waiting for a reply

Have used Hakka three times now and each time the delivery has been nearly 2 hours. They have one driver who is either unable to use a satnav or incompetent. Have given them enough opportunities to provide a good service. Don’t order a delivery as they blame just eat and their own websites for giving wrong estimates. They are w joke

Ordered delivery food with estimated 30-40mins delivery. Nothing arrived after 1.5 hrs. Spoke to them and was told they hadn't even started preparing "because they are so busy..." I cancelled and they agreed to refund. After chasing several time by phone and email no refund has yet arrive. Terrible business. Avoid Avoid

Just had a delivery of three meals. Enough said,, Deffo will not be back.1. Out of 10. That was for prompt delivery

Lovely food for a carnivore to a vegan diet. This place has not disappointed again with hot and generous portions. The service is really friendly and we will certainly be back.

It was awful. Came in September and the food was quite good, but not this time..... Massively overdone soft shell crab (threw it away) The crispy duck in plum sauce really fatty My stuffed tofu was stodgy What a waste of thirty pounds Avoid Avoid Avoid And thats an understatement.

Food didn’t arrive waited 2 hours to be told they had no driver awful customer service ruined my evening.

We had a lovely takeaway having not been here before. Will certainly be back or order a delivery some time soon I expect!!

We ordered a takeaway for home delivery at 19:09 on Thursday 28th October. The order arrived two hours later without any notification or contact from Hakka as to the delay until I phoned to enquire about the order and where it was exactly. During the phone call the person I was talking too sounded a little overwhelmed and I got a sense that they were extremely busy. I can appreciate this so then had a certain level of understanding. However I also know that there are things you can do to limit the volume of orders if you are struggling to provide the service or getting bombarded with orders. When the order did arrive I had the Nasi Goreng and much to my dismay one of the chicken skewers was uncooked in the middle. I then couldn't eat the rest of my meal and was worried that I may have consumed an uncooked piece. I emailed Hakka directly after this finding with much the same information as written here and requested a refund and as of today, 1st November, I have had no response to the email or refund for the order. We will not use Hakka again. If you read this please monitor your customer emails and process the refund, order number 23 on 28th October.

Six of us has this takeaway and all thoroughly enjoyed it. We had it delivered and it turned up on time and was still a good temperature. Would recommend.

Best Chinese take away in Cheltenham in my opinion. We have got a take away from here a couple of times now and it never disappoints. The starters are all reasonably sized and we always end up over ordering because the main dishes are generous portions too. There are some great options on the menu and I haven't had a meal yet there that disappointed. We have collected and got deliveries from here and they have never been late, always ready / delivered in the time stated. 100% recommend.

Had a takeaway which we collected this evening after a recommendation from a family member. Couldn't fault the food. Worthy of a Michelin star. Would love them to open a restaurant. Will definitely go back again.

An absolute hidden gem. An Asian takeaway that is authentic, delicious and beautifully presented. The vegetables were fresh, imaginative and beyond expectations. Noodles tasty, spicy and full of goodies. Duck was excellent and customer service fantastic. 100% recommend and I am a tricky customer! X

Excellent meal from an extensive menu. Have to say we all thoroughly enjoyed the food quickly delivered and HOT. Delicious and full flavoured it was 10/10.

A fantastic take-away restaurant, offering something a bit different with its take on Chinese and Malaysian food. The dishes taste wonderful, are beautifully presented and we always feel welcome and looked after. Highly recommended; you won't be disappointed!
