George is my best friend in the whole world of baking. He makes me so bloody happy . But it was the worst bed shop I’ve ever been to, clothes all over the floor, are you an animal? Clean up the house now ?!!!!!!!!! I am very disappointed in you. Brownies were alright though:)))

This was one of the best finds of lockdown ! They were giving away free coffees too if you had to queue. Tried a few loaves but the government is by far the best! We’ve had breakfast items too with plain croissants and chocolate almond being our favourite. It’s pricey but worth every penny

We love this little bakery which is so much more than what we would expect from a local bakery ! If you haven’t been, you should ! It’s definitely a firm favourite of ours over the last five years and in our opinion serves the best coffee locally although the wait time for it can leave us wishing for a larger cup at time’s ! The pastries are wonderfully delicious as is the bread, the lunchtime sandwiches and focaccia too as are the rest of the baked products. Love how it changes up its ingredients depending on season and uses local suppliers too. We spend far too much money and time here. Pizza nights are great albeit it can get a little cramped if eating in (we’re convinced it adds to the experience /atmosphere). This really is such a lovely place. The latest addition of staff have been a huge win win too as they are welcoming, friendly and just so helpful. The service /serving can get a little chaotic and one of the girls serving has a little attitude but we excuse it as this place knows how to serve up everything it does sooo well and tasty !

Another great independently owned cafe/bakers in Leamington. A bit off the beaten track if you are not a regular, but seek it out and you'll be rewarded. No seating, so you have to grab and go, but the park is down the road and lovely setting to eat your home baked delicious purchases! The bread is also to die for.

Fabulous little bakery where everything is cooked onsite each day. The queues outside the door are testament of the quality of the bakes that they make. I had goseberry and pistachio tart . Delicious. The bakery has a small seating area to the back where you can sit amongst the recipe books and bags of flour, watching the specialist baker's work their magic. Just fabulous.

I managed to finally buy something from this shop having seen it for years. The shop advertises that it opens early and shop is closed once all the goods are sold, hence there is always a queue. I went a quieter period and purchased a couple of sweet treats. I had mine there and then and it was amazing. However, by the evening they did not have the same impact, hence you need to eat straightaway - but note although the impact was not a good, it was a good treat still!! The shop itself is very small but the options are varied from sweet treats to savoury snacks, served by staff who are really friendly and appear to enjoy their job. Definitely recommended and if there is no queue and a parking space outside then very lilely to go again.

Recently we attended a pizza evening, we arrived for 6pm to see that there was already a queue outside: this made us even more excited after hearing good reviews. We checked the window menu and decided our pizzas but upon opening all hell broke lose. It was a totally different pizza menu! Customers were pushing in and the pizzas were being called out left right and centre we ended up with one ordered pizza at 6.30 and had to wait until 6.55 for our other pizza. No one offered to keep the pizza warm for us, and 3 other customers received the same pizza before ours was ready. Obviously our first pizza was stone cold by the time we got it home (only maximum of a five minute walk away). The bakery as a whole is delicious and would recommend. But please create some form of order on Thursday evenings!! It ruined what should have been a good experience

As a fan of baked goods, I've been to many bakeries all over. But I can honestly say Haddie and Trilby is right up there with the best. Their selection of breads, foccacias and cakes are always changing but always delicious, their customer service is great (we've been offered fresh croissants out of the oven) and you can tell they genuinely love what they do. It's just a hole in the wall and there's often a queue but that's a testament to how good their stuff is. It's also great value - a huge slab of fresh foccacia will set you back £3.

We visited this bakery this morning on our daughters recommendation, an excellent cup of coffee( infact I had two cups) and a giant croissant. We also bought a selection of freshly made focaccia to have for lunch, these also were excellent. A large freshly baked bread made its way back to Kent with us. My husband also got some free advice as to how to improve his own sour dough bread.

I really like this bakery, and the cheesecakes, dessert pies, and focaccia bread is out of this world wonderful. It's pretty expensive, but the cakes are worth it. After a few visits, we decided to try their pizza night on Thursdays. The idea is that they make fresh pizzas in house, and you can just pop in and take what's just come fresh out of the oven. The reality is a haphazard queue with everyone waiting to pounce on the next pizza out of the oven, which may, or may not, be the recipe you want. I can't understand why they don't ask customers which pizza they'd like so the baker can make those up and you can walk away with a hot meal. Instead, my partner's pizza came out straight away and I had to wait over half an hour for the one I'd chosen in a tiny waiting area filled with other customers keen to grab what next comes out. It's presented as a chill system with a relaxed baker focusing on his craft, but the reality is a super passive-aggressive environment where everyone, including the poor waiting staff, seem really stressed out, except the baker who seemed utterly oblivious to anyone wanted to eat.

I was very thrilled when this bakery opened. I've visited the shop more than 15 times and I've tried so many things! Everything looks so good! The presentation is excellent but unfortunately though, nothing tastes not even half as good as they look. I really wanted to like the place and I gave it some many tries but every time it's the same or worse! Not to mention that it's super expensive! The lack of other bakeries make people having low standard. Cakes, breads and everything sweet is just dissapointment. The only decent thing is the focaccias. It's a shame...

Having lived here for over a year, I only found this place by accident about a month ago but am now a frequent visitor. I've tried lots of different breads and they're all tasty, but the Black Bread is my favourite - charcoal, beer and honey I think. The foccaccia is delicious - and I love the pricing system - I often end up with a £1 slice of all flavours to last me through the week! The buns are fab, and I love how they have a slightly different twist each time. Superb and my only disappointment is that I've only just discovered this place.

I've been there three times - because it's so popular I gave it a few chances - despite not liking it the first time. First time I bought one slice of quiche and was surprised when they asked £7 for it with a straight face. I thought, it'll be amazing so its ok; it wasn't amazing, it was bland, no salt, and the pastry was heavy. Second time was by proxy when a friend brought me some lemon pie: It was like lemon curd but grainy and the pastry was the same, 'mtheugh' (me spitting out and throwing away). So this last time, I saw the chocolate brownie in the window (the window looks great) and went in. The crowd was loud and rude and no one let me get to cashier, so I Ieft a little put out. I went back an hour later when it was quieter, and the girl at the till was so rude I was taken aback. The words were polite (a script probably) but the manner was dismissive, arrogant. She just seemed confrontational and rude, for instance point blank staring at me, mouth open, while I spoke - I asked if the brownie was wet - she said I don't know what you mean by that? So I asked if I could taste it first - my previous experiences making me cautious. I was given a piece and it was wet - but I bought a crusty corner piece hoping it would be lighter and drier - and not like the raw cocoa powder tar of the centre piece I'd tried. I couldn't eat more than a cm slice of it. Wasted money and bad taste in my mouth from the rude girl at the till and the rude clientele. Everyone loves it apparently but I think it is pretentious, elitist and that the food is leaden and bland. I would love a proper bakery in Leamington but this is just clever marketing and a greedy gimmick, sadly. Lots of people like to be seen there as its got a great image and a pretty window but the food is nothing to write home about. If the girl hadn't been so strangely dismissive and confrontational I wouldn't have felt the need to write a review, but I found the male (owner?) server on previous occasion also very arrogant and (definitely feigning) too busy to address me like an adult. If you are charging £7 for one slice of cardboard pastry bland-egg-custard-quiche - maybe it helps?

Rough day last Thursday so the text from the better half inviting me to come to Haddie & Trilby pizza night was most welcome. It didn't disappoint - in fact after we had shared 2 delicious pizzas I felt like I had taken 2 happy pills & all was right in the world once more. The lovely bowl of big fat indecently green olives were better than any medicine or dare I say chocolate that I could have had. We were given a tip off about pizza night at the Haddie & Trilby bakery by a friend . After our visit that friend is most definitely a friend for life. During daytime hours Haddie & Trilby are a simply fabulous bakery selling opulent and indulgent cakes and pastries and a huge variety of delicious breads - all baked on the premises . However on Thursday evenings the bakers ovens are turned over to the production of the most mouth watering sourdough pizzas I have ever eaten . It's all quite a casual affair - the baker creates 3 flavours of pizza . We had a choice of taleggio & peach (I know it just shouldn't work but it did), a gorgeous tomato and mozzarella (never had better) and a rocket / salmon and lemon pizza. The baker just keeps producing the pizza , puts it on the side and you help yourself and pay for what you have. There were also bowls of big fat Olives and a salad of the day. Grab a table and bring your own wine and you have the best pizza night ever. They serve between 6-7.30 pm for this lovely neighbourly institution .

Found only after a quick Google search for artisan bakeries in Leamington Spa, this place flagged up. Located on a street a few minutes walk from the main shopping centre, the detour will be worth while. They do say they stay open until until "they run out", when we got there there about 4:45 on a Saturday afternoon were a choice of 4 or 5 cakes still available. The cheesecake topped with salted caramel brownies looked tempting and believe me it was something quite like you've never had before. The surroundings are by no means high end, it's all a bit cramped small stools. You can see the bakery right behind, there will be flour on the floor etc. But don't let that put you off.

This places looks and smells beautiful yet everything about our visit was underwhelming from the snooty female assistant who it seems was irritated by our choices to the actual food we purchased, a croissant (over cooked to the point of burnt) bread which looked beautiful but tasted very average and the quiche we actually threw away after one mouth full, this place has so much potential and is indeed very busy but based on our experience we would not recommend, massive shame as it looks so good, we thought we'd found a real gem :-( perhaps it was on off day.

Haddie & Trilby is a place that is trying to do something special. And it succeeds with style. The range of baked goods is always intriguing, if heavily weighted on the sweeter side - I'd be interested in seeing more savoury stuff. I understand other reviewer's comments about the risky choices for the pizza night but I see that more traditional types have started to appear. I walked in and stood for 5 minutes waiting to be served, while one staff member described the various cakes to an enthusiastic party. At one point, a member of staff brushed past my back without giving an apology. Another member of staff was attending to the displays, but totally ignored me. After moving from Paris our first concern was the lack of proper bakeries and bread in the UK. Luckily for us we live just down the road from Haddie and Trilby where we've become regulars. The bread and cake selection changes daily, but everything we have tried so far has been great. Great crusts and textures unlike the industrial stuff at the supermarkets. So much to choose from, you can't really go wrong. We love supporting local businesses that offer great products and from the queues it seems word has gotten around. You can usually find George preparing the fresh bread right in front of you or even late the night before. He sources local whenever possible and proposes many original creations such as the delicious wild garlic loaf. The pizza nights are a bit hit and miss as some other have commented, but we've tried far more hits than misses. The main drawback is that it does get crowded in the small space and the service can be a bit slow since they go out of their way to explain everything if you ask. Other than that the prices are a bit dear, but certainly worth every pence. You can even buy half loaves so you can try two different breads for the price of one. They are closed Sundays and Mondays as well, so we can only buy their lovely bread 5 days a week...

Love the sourdough bread and a lovely fruity bread they make there too. Everything is sourdough based. I see this place as a treat as it is quite expensive to buy bread from here every day!

I like everything about H&T; except pizza night. We found that the pizzas had very little flavor because the toppings are VERY skimpy. So go there for EVERYTHING else but skip pizza night.

How many places can boast of customers queueing to get in ? I would queue here for an hour if I had to for their beautiful bread and cakes. This place has established a new benchmark for quality and gorgeousness. Here there are highly skilled and dedicated people baking away all day just for us to enjoy. It is unpredictable in what you might find, when I once visited they had just received a crate of rhubarb that they intended to use in cakes and tarts, so I called the next day to get some. Thursday night is pizza night, total anarchy, no ordering, nobody knows what is coming out of the oven next, but they are all excellent with good ingredients, well worth the wait. This is one of those places that makes me so glad to live in Leamington

There are many reasons for which Haddie and Trilby should be applauded. Their bread is well priced and tasty, their cakes and nibbles interesting, varied and consistently delicious. However, there is some room for improvement: most prominently in their Pizza Night. The Pizza Night is a great idea and some of the flavour combinations are inspired. However, there are a few problems that have unfortunately stopped my friends and I from attending anymore. The first is lack of quality control, priced at £7 the pizzas are usually a good value for money. however we have now seen at least three times a pizza of substantially smaller size and with sparse toppings being sold at the same price, making it an over priced meal and disappointing affair. Indeed, my friends and I had even resorted to purchasing our own toppings to fill out the meal. Secondly, although stating a starting time of 6pm, no pizzas are ever available until around 30-40 minutes after that time causing a severe build-up of waiting customers. Thirdly, a lack of communication between staff and the massing queue mean waiting for a pizza is not only a lengthy affair but also a stressful one. I do not think you should have to fight for your pizza or rest on the politeness of others. Surely an ordering system would be more efficient and less wasteful. In this way, although the product is original and good, I do not enjoy going there and wonder if they are not just resting on the lack of competition to ensure their customer base.

Seriously if you with a 10 mile radius of leamington spa and havent tried their bread and cakes you missing a treat. Everything made on site using local items. Staff very friendly and have actually made the food. You can eat at the back and see them cooking. Only downside queues out if the door by the informed but worth the wait!!!!!!!! Go your taste buds are ordering you to. They cook different things every time. Each day a different muffin, pear and almond, rhubarb, orange........etc they do pizza evening and have lunchtime bread and soup take away and you see half of leamington parked outside then.

I bought 2 giant slices of salted caramel tart from here and it was the best thing iv'e ever scoffed. Stunning baked goods in this little artisan bakery. I also bought a beautiful focaccia bread and I don't tend to eat bread but it seemed rude not to try something of such quality. Both purchases were amazing and I am going back tomorrow to eat more bread at Pizza night. Amazing portions, best ingredients and craftsmanship. Very welcoming owner. My kind of place. Oh and great coffee.

This place, not a chain, is run by a team of young and enthusiastic bakers. The bread, cakes, quiches, sandwiches and coffee are sensational. Do not go anywhere else. It is worth the small walk from the Parade

This lovely little place is easy to miss as its so small, unless you come around lunchtime when you'll see locals queuing down the street to get in. It's a bakery as well as a tiny restaurant, with friendly staff and an ever changing menu - it changes every day in fact.

This is more a shop than a restaurant with a couple of chairs outside and some small tables inside and towards the back. So maybe not the place for a romantic dinner, but if you want great baking who cares about the ambiance. The staff have always been friendly and knowledgeable when I visited.

What a lovely little cafe. We went for breakfast both days of our weekend stay and both days the staff were really friendly, the atmosphere inside was lovely and the food was cooked perfectly. Little gem on the locks.

We rocked up with 2 large families with young children. The staff were very friendly. Most of us had hot chocolates, and they were probably the best tasting hot chocolates we've had in a long time. And very reasonably priced. Would definitely visit again and recommend.

This place is always hit and miss. At weekends the teenagers work there and their attitude is awful. A long haired chap today decided to be very rude when he got the order wrong and the laughed. Such a shame as their other venue the pump rooms is much better environment and customer service.
