Gurkhas inn nepales & Indian cuisine in Torbay

We visited Babbacombe Beach and decided to go for dinner at the Gurkhas Inn, the staff are so friendly and the Nepalese food was full of flavour and very tasty would definitely recommend

Not good, if you want authentic food please don’t go here. Had chicken tikka and chicken Sherlock and chicken tikka masala, none of them were cooked in a clay oven / tandoor. They cooked them just in a sauce. Nan bread are massive and really doughy. They should be much thinner.

Fantastic food very friendly staff 5 star Very clean their local ale Gurkha beer is great. We tried the traditional Nepalese food and it was really tasty.

Hidden gem of a restaurant. Amazing food, with excellent friendly service. Arrived with friends wet and tired and could not have been made more welcome. Much needed after a tiring day.

Delicious food only made better by a lovely welcome. Visited here when on a work night away, stopping in the premier inn round the corner , ordered a take away and the food was delicious. The welcome when collecting was lovely and next time I’m here I’ll definitely eat in. Forget the chains and go to a family run place , that’s what i reckon.

We ordered 2 x chicken korma and 2 tikka masala 2x garlic nannas and rice for my Daughter’s birthday, the food was nice and hot and very tasty, the staff were very friendly and even gave me a beer on the house, Mr Kirk gives 5 Stars

Once again a truly wonderful night staff friendly and helpful.Great selection on the menu and we had an excellent meal cooked to perfection and potion sizes were just right enough without being over the top. Can't recommend this curry house highly enough worth trying when in Torquay 👌👍😄😄😄

Gurkha's Inn is a relatively humbly decorated restaurant in Torquay, but don't let that fool you. The food is spectacular. I had the Nepalese Gurkha vegetarian platter to start and the Gurkha village dinner for main. You can really taste the freshness of the ingredients, and all the spices sing together. It reminded me of my time trekking in Nepal, and the chef took time to speak with me about his mother country. Great service, terrific food. Namaste!

We arranged to meet friends for a curry and they suggested that we go to Gurkha’s as they had heard it was good. WOW! Amazing curries with a fantastic service, we were made to feel so welcome and food was amazing! This place is off the Main Street making it’s prices extremely reasonable. We will definitely return, and we will definitely be recommending the restaurant to our friends.

Make sure you have an appetite when you go, top quality food and plenty of it, we had the middle option set menu for 2 (would probably be too much for 3) couldn’t finish anywhere near half of what was provided, good selection of well presented excellent quality starters mains and sides, popadoms and dips, I had a Nepalese beer, my wife a coke, extremely good value £40 plus a tip, the lady serving us was fantastic patient and helpful, we highly recommend this restaurant

They provided an excellent service taking into account our dietary requirements. Careful in every little thing, doen to use of knife for things that we did not eat. Food was very tasty and fresh.

Went here on a Sunday night as just a short walk from where we were staying, hadn’t booked and really didn’t need to as just us two and 1 other chap in there, I guess we are out of season, the restaurant is a little way out of the main town and this whole COVID year hasn’t helped. We ordered online before opening time and opted for delivery which was an extra £1.00The order was for delivery between 7pm amd 7.20pm The order arrived piping hot and at 7pm which was fantastic.The food was excellent, tasty, flavoursome and we would not hesitate to order again.

Was on holiday in Torquay, looking for an indian meal, found this restaurant on TA. Read the reviews, was content to try it. Walked a good way, up and down the hills of Torquay, to get there from our hotel, only to find out its closed for eating in, only open for take away.Got to restaurant doors, stood there for 5 mins, no one came out- obviously didn't want the take away order either.Very disappointed. Like other restaurants in the area, the restaurant needs to make it clear to possible customers that it's not open for dining in and inform people of the restaurant status as take away only.Hopefully this review will prevent anyone wasting time and energy getting there.On another note, theres a kebab shop couple doors down that we went and spent our hard earned cash in, was very tasty and enjoyable- although not the sit down meal we were expecting.Shame, wont try again.

5 stars for the food. So pleased you have restarted your takeaway service post lockdown. Can't understand why business was shut for takeaway during lockdown. An opportunity lost surely and when I tried to place an order during lockdown the answer phone message was not updated and nothing on the website so 2 star poor for business management.

We couldn't see a menu displayed in the window and the restuarant was quiet, but we're so glad we went in. The lady who served us was very friendly and professional and happy to answer questions on the menu items.Presentation of the dishes we'd chosen was faultless and everthing was cooked perfectly. One of the best Indian meals we've ever had and we'll visit again next time we're in the area.

We visit this restaurant every time we go to Torquay, so as it was my birthday on Friday 24th January we went again. We were the only ones there, we had an excellent meal as always, and the lady recognised us and made us really welcome. Would thoroughly recommend.

Ordered takeaway from Gurkhas inn tonight, 3.12.20, food arrived promptly and was piping hot. My gf really enjoyed the chicken dopiaza. I tried the Gurkhas special which although advertised as hot I found to be of a medium heat and just right. Lovely food and prompt delivery. 2 well fed happy curry lovers. Well done guys

One of our favourite for Asian takeaway. Delicious Gurkha options, number 38 if you love hot and spicy. Packed with flavour and ask for it hotter if that's your thing. Lovely lady at the counter who knows what I want on arrival usually after the local cinema. Not very atmospheric if you eat in. Pictures of Her Maj and Joanna Lumley on the wall. Naturally.
