Every time I order from here something is missing this time a pot of mint sauce The chilli rogan wasn’t as described no peppers or spring onions or corriander in it. Food was cold.spent nearly 50 pounds don’t expect items to be missing

The sag aloo didn't have much flavor and the chicken jalfrezi had chewy chicken. It was ok but not great

The curry was great, but the poppadoms had a very odd taste as if they were cooked in oil that needed to be changed. Otherwise the food was delicious.

It’s the first time we’ve ordered from you and it was really lovely, hot tasty and early. Thank you, really enjoyed it, will be back for more.

Second time eating here since opening & honestly it's such a lovely place to eat. Great attentive service from all the waiting staff & the chef, he's an absolute delight! Food is really delicious, good sized portions, and served really quickly. Highly recommend you try this place if you haven't already!

Gurkhas diner have recently moved to a much bigger premises on the high street, the new place is clean and bright with very tasteful decor. As always the food was superb, especially the momos and the Goat curry. We will come back next time we are in town. Stuart and Ronda.

my food arrived got it out of the bag and opened them and there was only half a curry, half rice and literally a hand ful of chips. rang the restaurant and they said they are really sorry we can see that your a regular customer we will give you 50% back but just eat have said no. appalling service.

A substantial menu with both Nepalese food and regular Indian food. We decided to try the Nepalese and it didn’t disappoint, the sauces were thick and flavoursome, I had the Gurkha delight and my husband a Muli, both are mild with coconut and very good. The staff were lovely too with the chef coming out to chat and telling us how the whole family worked there, we can definitely recommend and don’t get this one confused with the other Gurkha restaurant up the road like we did originally.

We had a meal delivered to our holiday accommodation. We cannot fault the service. Delivered within the time specified. The food was beautiful and hot. We had 2 curries and one English meal. The chicken in the curry was lovely and lots of it. The chap who brought it was smart and courteous Fantastic takeaway food and a great price too. We hope to come and eat in the restaurant this Thursday if your are open. 5 Star all round (added 24/8/24) We booked a table and went to the restaurant that Thursday. It was as above. Lovely food and great service. It was busy, so would recommend booking in advance. Best value I have had for some time. Next time we are down that way, we will surely be coming to the Ghurka Diner again. 5 Stars all round!

My Dad was their first customer many years ago and we have visited on many occasions .we now go there with the whole family .The food is always outstanding and the family friendly atmosphere is amazing .we class them as our family friends now .

Generic, catering truck Indian food. Low quality and fairly tasteless. There is another Indian restaurant in Paignton (named after compass points), which is far superior - go there.

First time using this new takeaway. Onion bahjis were amazing 10/10, curry’s were tasty 9/10 and naan was lovely 9/10. Only thing that let it down was thin cut chips were over cooked and most were thrown away as they were very hard. I would order again without chips.

Went with a large group ( 15) of friends, waited nearly 2 hours for our food, only after asking was it served, would have been a lot longer otherwise. Food was delicious but seriously, if you can't cater for large groups then don't accept them, will not be recommending or returning

We’d arrived Friday afternoon in Paignton after an awful drive down and whilst sat having a drink in another bar decided we’d have Indian for dinner. I googled where was best and found this gem. We walked there hoping that we didn’t need to book. We got told that if we could eat by 7.15pm (it was about 6pm) then they could fit us in. Great. Food was fantastic and lots of choice for me as a veggie. Hubby said the garlic naan was the best he’s ever eaten. Now we’ve discovered this place it’s a shame we don’t live closer else we’d be here all the time

We wanted to check out their new premises so went last night and we loved it!! The decor is very stylish and the ambience just right. We have been regular customer for years for the consistently excellent curries and once again couldn't fault a thing. Was a nice touch that the chef came out to talk to us! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this top class Indian restaurant.

This was our first time here as we usually use other Indian restaurants and have never tried this one but wow we will certainly be back here next time we come to paignton, it is the best one we've been to, the food was amazing, the staff were all very friendly and even the chef came out after our meal to ask if it was ok which is a lovely thing to do, would highly recommend but book first because they are very busy which is understandable with the quality of the food

Our first visit to this restaurant while on holiday, the food was excellent, we had starters and mains and they were amazing, the staff were very friendly and the chef came out to ask how our meals were and had a chat with us which a very nice thing to do, I'm glad we booked as they are very busy which just shows how good the food is, would highly recommend

2nd post : Responding to owner : no response has been made by yourself to my comments that the two dishes looked and tasted/exactly the same as per the photos attached, can you see them ? Is it normal that the 2 x dishes look/taste the same or do you accept a mistake was made. Your website states the Goan chicken contains tamarind sauce/coconut milk/yoghurt /garlic and ginger. The dish we received did not. Your website states Everest curry , contains chopped onion/green pepper,/tomato/ tibetan herb/spices. The dish we received did not. Both were exactly the same look at the photos. I suspect you/your chef, just reheated some base gravy and threw some chicken in, thinking we were holidaymakers who would never be seen/heard again. The issue is about the quality of your food , not about our taste buds. 1st post: We are locals, this was our first time ordering at Gurkha's Diner and will be our last. We were extremely disappointed with our takeaway from Gurkha's Diner which was so awful we never managed to eat it all. By far the worst takeaway we have ever had. We ordered 2 x Nepalese starters which were ok'ish and 1 x Goan curry and 1 x Everest curry. Both curry's tasted exactly the same . Please see photo the sauces from both dishes look identical!!!!!! The curries had an overpowering taste which was really unpleasant. The few pieces of chicken tikka? that was in the curry was awful it was dry and rubbery.

Fantastic authentic food, I have had the king prawn Pakora and Lasuni with paneer and rice. Both dishes were so tasty. Staff was friendly and welcoming. I would sugest to book your self a table, as restaurant is quite busy.

Mum was recommended to try this place, so booked a takeaway for this evening. 40 minutes to collect, came in 30. First impressions. Not good. Smashed window at the bottom, aging carpets and decor. Glad I come down 10 minutes early as Food was sat there in a freezer box. I'm no way a chef, but these was the worst curries we have ever eaten. We got the Goan and the Everest. Bit of a shame because this is nothing like Nepal. TAMARIND SAUCE overpowered each dish. Tasted like tomato soup. I will certainly not be in a rush to come back.

I asked for my curry to be how I would like it and it came out absolutely perfect..can’t fault these guys at all. I order from these most weeks and have never had an issue. Many thanks for good food and good service!

Terrific! Best Indian I have eaten in Torbay & I have eaten quite a few! The Vindaloo was actually spicy! all other dishes were packed with different spices and you could taste them all... really amazing.

This is a 5 star place for hungry people. 2 people we have ordered 3 starters and 2 different mains.. All of them were piping hot and full of flavours. Service was warm and professional. We were in Paignton for a very short visit , otherwise we would like to taste every single item in the menu. I can definitely recommend this place who wants to have hearty asian food packed of flavours!!!

Friendly service Great food Value for money

We’ve been coming to the diner for almost 10 years and it has always been consistently amazing. The only one downfall is that it isn’t closer to home in Blackpool for us so we can visit more often than once a year. Going to try and squeeze in one more visit before we go home. As a party of 5 we all had something different and each dish was just perfect. You have to try this at least once on your visit to Paignton. Staff are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Menu is varied and you’ll be dying to go back to try something else. Will definitely be back next year to visit again in the new premises a short distance away without fail!

Lemon rice was missing was sent 2 coconut rice instead, were from Scotland were Indian food is top notch and we googled top Indian restaurant in Paignton so we could have a nice meal while down on holiday, this place was rated no1 - we all feel like we ate a bag of sugar for dinner each dish had no spice it was sweet and inedible and we’ve had to bin the remaining, a butter chicken isn’t sweet its a mild heat dish and it’s creamy. The coconut rice was also prep’d with sugar through it.

I'll give an honest review, I hate that I'm only giving this 3 stars but here's why. I ordered a lamb madras with rice and naan, and the curry is very flavourful, it tastes nice... but its not spicy at all. Its not exactly what I was expecting. Due to the lack of spice it's not exciting to eat, it's just a flavour unlike any madras I've had before. The lamb is OK, pretty stringy but that's to be expected, rice is perfect, the naan... well its a bit hard in places, kinda gives me grocery store naan vibes. It's not that the food is bad, but it's definitely not the best I've had in town truth be told, I'll probably go somewhere else next time as this is the only dish I ever order and this just wasn't to my standard. It was good, but not great.

We visited this wonderful restaurant during a recent holiday in Devon. Wow! The food and service was outstanding as was the friendliness by the Chef and front of house team. We wish them all the very best wishes for their upcoming move to new premises. If in Paignton you MUST visit 10/10 👏🏻

Had a delivery to Brixham ( all the curry houses are rubbish here) using JustEat, it was very prompt and still piping hot when it arrived. Plenty of chicken in the curry and the onion bhaji’s were lovely. I accidentally ordered twice but great customer service as I got a call to check my order, and help to cancel the additional one. I will definitely be using this restaurant again and recommending it to friends.

Ordered at 7.30pm because our Tesco shop wasn’t coming until 8pm and they said half hour. It’s now past 9pm and the food still hasn’t arrived and we were not given a Refund. Terrible service.

This is the best curry I've had in years. The goat was fantastic as was the Nepalese nan bread, vegetables and onions bhajis. All washed down with 2 Nepalese beers. Well worth the visit

The best! My husband always has the goat curry which is amazing! The chef always comes to ask you how your meal is if you are eating in. We have deliveries too and they are always on time, fresh and delicious. We have tried many similar restaurants around Paignton but Gurkhas is the best and we always recommend only going here to our friends when they visit Paignton!

Found this place on trip advisor. Probably wouldn't have come in off street but so glad we did. Amazing food and service. The best dine in food we have had in a long time. Shame we were on holiday or we would visit every week!
