As repeat customers, this was our first time at the new restaurant and we'll definitely be back. Delicious, very friendly, and super flexible to all our requests. Why aren't there more restaurants like this?

Went here after reading very good reviews, I must say that it's worthy of a visit. The staff are attentive & explain the different dishes, they also will cook the food hot, medium or mild which is also great. We had the starter of Squid & mains Goat Curry & Lamb Biriani. All very flavoursome. ** Remember to Pre-Book ** They also offer a takeaway menu if you can't get in.

Absolutely love this place and everyone who works there! The food is incredible. My usual is chicken imli but tonight I tried the goat curry. It's on the bone which isn't for everyone but the flavour.. wow. If you go, you must try one of the Nepalese dishes, you won't be disappointed!

What a lovely restaurant! Visited yesterday evening to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. Food was fantastic, plenty of flavour, nice and hot on arrival. The service was perfect, very welcoming. We will definitely be returning again soon. Thank you for a great experience.

Absolutely amazing food and service

Amazing food one of the best I have ever had!! fab service and cannot wait for our next visit! All the staff are very attentive and so welcoming. Chef came out and had a little chat with us and gave us some great advice on the different dishes he creates. Out favourite indian/Nepalese restaurant and takeaway in the Bay. Had a great meal with friends in the restaurant. Delicious food and super staff. Highly recommended. Love their new restaurant too.

The food was excellent and the service spot on. This place has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and we were made to feel really welcome. The whole place was decorated well and the toilets were clean. When we finished our meal the chef came to check we were happy.

What an absolute treasure of a restaurant in Paignton! They have moved to a larger premises, but have lost nothing about what made the smaller restaurant special. The restaurant is run by Nepalese people, and got an enormous seal of approval from my Nepalese companion. Food is genuinely authentic, and truly delicious. Portions are ample and prices are very reasonable. They also have a menu section familiar to British Indian restaurants, so all expected curry dishes are available. I've no doubt that they'd do a fantastic tikka masala, korma, madras, etc. But it's more fun to get the Nepalese special dishes. The choice is almost overwhelming! We've visited three times, and have loved everything that we tried. The goat curry is sensational, being slow cooked and bursting with flavour. The staff are delightful, and completely committed to customer service. You cannot miss out on this restaurant when in Paignton - be sure to make a booking to ensure that you do not.

Read the existing reviews with a, pinch of salt but turns out the y w ere right. Excellent food, great service at a reasonable price.

My wife and I visited last night for a meal, and from the offset, my wife was made to feel really uncomfortable. The gentleman serving us was really rude and never even acknowledged that my wife was sitting there. His arrogance and demur were extremely inappropriate and unfounded.

We had a fantastic evening! The atmosphere is wonderful, and this is helped by the incredibly friendly service and attentive staff. The food is incredibly fresh and flavoursome, and each member of our party was really impressed with their dishes. Everything was reasonably priced, and we would definitely recommend a visit.

Wow- what a wonderful experience. We were in Paignton for a couple of nights & decided we wanted a meal out. After a bit of research we found Gurkha’s Diner as it had excellent reviews. Let me assure you; the high ratings are very much deserved. The welcome is warm & jolly, setting the tone for a relaxed evening with continued excellent service. The food was just amazing & then to top it off, the chef made an appearance to say hello & ask how we enjoyed the food. If we ever end up in the area again, we will most definitely return & will be recommending to our friends & family.

This restaurant is excellent. I was skeptical when I saw the numerous positive reviews, but since trying the restaurant, I can see why it’s so well received. It’s not often you come to a restaurant where both the food and the service is truly excellent, but this place has managed to do it. The waiter, who I assume is the owner, is attentive, kind and funny. He never feels imposing whilst attending to you. The chef came out and asked if there was anything on the menu he could explain in greater detail, and the younger servers were kind, smiley and attentive. Whilst the food is your standard eastern affair, it was cooked well, tasted excellent and we left satisfied by portion size and taste. My partner even said the naan was some of the best she’s ever had. In conclusion, these guys are excellent and I well recommend you come and find out for yourself. You will be met with open arms and leave with full belly’s. We will be back again. Thank you for the wonderful evening.

We’ve been coming to the diner for almost 10 years and it has always been consistently amazing. The only one downfall is that it isn’t closer to home in Blackpool for us so we can visit more often than once a year. Going to try and squeeze in one more visit before we go home. As a party of 5 we all had something different and each dish was just perfect. You have to try this at least once on your visit to Paignton. Staff are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Menu is varied and you’ll be dying to go back to try something else. Will definitely be back next year to visit again in the new premises a short distance away without fail! As google won’t allow you to add a second review I’ll edit this one for my most recent visit. Was so excited to visit the new premises and was not left disappointed. Its new location stands out in the middle of town and looks very inviting. So nice to be greeted by familiar faces and meet new ones. The atmosphere inside was so welcoming with lots of murals of Nepal. The food was, as expected, 10/10. I’ve never been disappointed in the almost 10 years we have been visiting, having takeaways at first when on holiday to dining in. After the obligatory poppadoms and mixed pickle tray, husband and I had the Passanda with boiled rice, Nepalese Goat Curry with coconut rice and shared a keema naan, and all dishes were out of this world. Both husband and son love this coconut rice and haven’t found anywhere that creates anything close to how good it is. Portions sizes are super generous, super delicious and you can just tell they are freshly cooked with fresh ingredients. (Just check out and follow their social media for proof). Three pieces advice for visiting here 1) Book a table in advance. We visited mid-week and the restaurant was full, and have booked for our next trip to Paignton in summer already. 2) if you’re not sure what to have, ask for a recommendation; these guys know what they’re talking about. And finally, 3) did I mention to book! So nice to see the chef and Sanjay again and so happy the restaurant is doing so well. It is very deserved and as long as it is busy, it will stay open for all my future visits for years to come. Thanks to the expanding team for a super evening, where nothing was too much trouble. The only disappointing thing is that is it not closer to home so we can visit more often. See you in July…..

We went with friends for a Saturday night meal. From the time we entered to the moment we left we had the best service. Every staff member was polite, kind and friendly. It’s very difficult to find a decent Indian restaurant in the bay but we have finally found this place and highly recommend it. We will be back very soon

Ghurka Diner is an absolute must. If you haven't been yet then you're missing out on a wonderful dining experience. The staff are very friendly yet professional, extremely helpful and genuinely offer a superb dining experience. The ambience has a perfect balance and the food is to die for! They offer plenty of dishes to accommodate everyone all of which is piping hot has the fullest of flavours and are so, so tasty and all at very reasonable prices. We've been using the Ghurka Diner since they first opened 20+years ago and can honestly say it only gets better. Very highly recommended!

Good value, well supported by the community so always people eating, friendly staff and chef came out to talk to people. Lovely big cobra beers and would recommend the lamb momos. Naan always good we had the garlic and the mushroom and garlic rice was good. Mains ok but disappointed as they both came with the same base sauce which we weren’t excepting and thought it would be minced lamb as that’s what it stated on the menu but was strips and a little overcooked. Would definitely go back just would order some different mains.

Overall the food was relatively tasty but both Everest dishes (takeaway) did not include peppers, onions or tomatoes and both the lamb and chicken were a bit chewy.

Really lovely food and the people that work here sincerely care about their customers. Highly recommended.

Well, what can I say, this was one of the best meals we have ever had. We were lucky as tonight was fully booked for the time that we wanted but managed to get in for 5pm. Had the chicken tikka with Gurkha Delight and Nepalese Goat both with rise and naan bread. These were bith cook to the highest standard and the teast was fanstic. If we lived closer then would be a regular but live in S Wales. Thank you to all the staff who work there.

If you are looking for a quiet, sophisticated environment, then this is not for you. But if you want a great atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff, and arguably the best food of its type at a competitive price, you will do no better.

We cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. The staff are some of the most courteous I have ever had the pleasure to meet. This has been our second visit and would not now go anywhere else in Torbay. Absolutely SUPERB food and service!

Decided to go different tonight so ordered a takeaway. First time trying Nepalese. Amazing meal, and worth trying if you haven't already. Delivered early and friendly service. I'll be ordering again

We held a joint 40th and a 2nd birthday celebration here. The staff were wonderful. Very friendly and accommodating. The food was amazing, the best I have eaten in a long while. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

This was our first visit but it certainly won't be the last. Never had Nepalese food before and it was lovely. The poppadoms were really fresh and crisp. The service was great and even the chef came out to speak to us. We definitely would recommend a visit.

Greeted very warmly on arrival, shown to our table. Customer service was excellent , as for the food.....I adore a good Biriyani and my , this one exceededmy expectations.....it was divine . My partner's meal...also superb. We even met the Chef . Cannot recommend this resturant highly enough.

I was really looking forward to eating here, have been to the previous location which I enjoyed. The service was nowhere near as good, cutlery just dropped on table next to us in a pile. Menu was confusing, didn't particularly like my food so left lots of it. Onion bhajis not crispy. Had tummy problems within 30 minutes of eating, just made it home in time. Sorry, but won't eat here again!

Lovely Christmas Eve meal. Place was busy but good service and as usual the food was delicious. Nice to see reasonable prices, and they work really hard, they deserve to continue to do really well. The go to curry house in Paignton

The curry had a lot of water like it had been reheated. The chicken and lamb were both tough and inedible, also tasting like they had been reheated. Can of coke was missing from the order, 20 minutes late and not hot, naan breads were tough. Won’t be using again

Every time I order from here something is missing this time a pot of mint sauce The chilli rogan wasn’t as described no peppers or spring onions or corriander in it. Food was cold.spent nearly 50 pounds don’t expect items to be missing

The curry was great, but the poppadoms had a very odd taste as if they were cooked in oil that needed to be changed. Otherwise the food was delicious.

We had 2 takeaway currys this evening (collection) 1 chicken curry and 1 goat curry and it was absolutely fantastic! you could taste every spice and herb in both dishes and the meat was succulent and plentiful. This was the best Indian we’ve ever had !!!! It was so fresh and flavorful !! The mint sauce was the best one we’ve ever had. They had so many options to pick from too. But by far the best curry we’ve eaten.

Food was awful. Everything seemed to be swimming in oil and had separated that much in the containers. Poppadoms were extremely oily too. Very disappointing
