Service and food really nice. Portions are very generous. Value for money. Highly recommended if you want a great restaurant with fantastic food.

Best restaurant in Wednesbury town. Excellent service and lovely food, highly recommend easy access from junction 9, M6, Jay and David best service and hospitality. I was coming to see special friend to see her , she recommended to me this beautiful venue and we enjoyed it.

Lovely restaurant with excellent food and service. We had the paneer which was 10/10. Staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Place is just off the motorway M6 if you want to break up you journey.

Repeat customers to this fine establishment. Always have beyond excellent experiences here, the staff are very friendly and welcoming The food is superb and made fresh! Which does mean sometimes you may have to wait for your meal. But it is worth it for sure. The food is very fresh and tasty and you can tell the quality of the meats and fish We love the spice level at this restaurant but it can be toned up and down to your taste. Our go to Indian Restaurant in the area. Dav & Raj

Part of a group of 40/50 at a birthday celebration. Sat at tables of 6 to ,10. Table service. We tried a Thali for the first time. Delicious. Lovely staff, great atmosphere. Fully stocked bar. Can't wait to go again.

We had a great experience of fine dining in Gurkha 1816. We went all members of our family and treated tremendously. Their service was excellent and food was full of flavour. Staffs are really supportive. The restaurant environment is perfect for couples and family. Can’t wait to go there again.

Nothing special about the food except for the price! Entered the restaurant with only two other customers there at the time, waited two hours from ordering to receiving our main meal, practically had to beg the Staff to give us our food to take home in the end. Seems like they money grab from drinks by keeping people waiting a long time for the food. They say the Chefs are busy but all you see coming out the kitchen are baskets of poppadoms. Very disappointing waste of money. Chow mein was boring/not tasty, all I ate was the meat and left the rest. £7 for a few poppadoms and 3x pretty crap dips, so many better Indian/Asian places about. Not sure how this place has so many outstanding reviews, don't be fooled!

Food was fabulous, wonderful flavourings. Staff were all friendly, helpful and professional. Don't go if you are in a rush, it took time for the food to come as it was all cooked to order, but it was well worth the wait and I will definitely visit again.

Wow! We absolutely love the Gurkha. We have been coming here for a couple of years now and are never disappointed with the food. Best curry we have had from anywhere we have been. Food is so fresh and tastes amazing everything we’ve had. Momos are definitely worth a try, one of our favourites to have when we visit now. My favourite is lamb rogan josh. Always so welcoming and friendly. Thanks from the Bradley’s x

Been several times,waiting staff service excellent,proprietor very good took time to help me pick a meal that met my requirements. Food always excellent & I like that the chef came out later after our meal to see if we enjoyed our food & we in return could give him compliments well deserved. Bit more expensive than some local places but as we were celebrating our birthdays & wedding anniversary it was worth it. The proprietor was a lovely lady who made you welcome & her help with the menu was was appreciated . Thank-you.

I ordered non vegetarian Thalia today, I literally had to wait more than 2.5 hours to get my food delivered. No courtesy to call and inform their customers about any delays or can't deliver food.I called them in about 1.5 hours and they said it will not be delivered .After that I said you can call me back you can't deliver food to me.. this is bad customer service after conversation they said we will deliver food again I waited but food didn’t arrive until another 35 minutes.I’ve no complaints with the taste but customer service is something you need to take care of. Never ordering from them again.

My family have been coming here for several years and it’s by far the best Indian/ Nepalese food I have ever had. We come here 3 or 4 times a month and the food is always first class. The waiting staff are very friendly and attentive. The Chef takes great pride in his food and even comes out of the kitchen to check you are enjoying your food. Me and my partner love this place and any visitor we have bought here has always commented on the delicious food. An excellent restaurant in every sense of the word.

Outside appearance belies the delights that await inside.A chat with the happy chef before ordering was fun.Staff very good good ambiance blended with a good menu.l had Kathmandu chicken which was sublime beware the mixed grill it is enormous and delicious. Go give it try you will not be disappointed

Three of us went to this lovely restaurant last night and we can honestly say the food was exceptional. So fresh, and beautifully presented. We had chicken and vegetable momos and chicken wings to start which were gorgeous. Followed by Butter chicken and a Gurkhali Lamb which were both stunning, so was the garlic nan bread. The service was excellent and the prices for such quality food was really good too. Overall a wonderful dining experience, and the staff are all lovely and cannot do enough to help you. Food was tasty. You get 4 big size Veg/chicken momos for approx 8£ , soya tikka same price around 6 pieces, so I felt bit overpriced for the portion, but then my satisfied taste buds made me ignore the quantity & price. Veg fried rice was a really tasty, good portion. The table we sat on appeared to be little compact for the plates, dishes & glasses. This place has it's own parking

WOW!! Is all we can say, booked a table for Mom`s 80th Birthday, 26th June 2024. Party of six, we were greeted at the door, shown to a table and asked if this table was ok for us all, beautifully laid out table. A young man took our drinks order, a young lady later took our food order - never felt rushed to order, all staff are so patient, calm and polite - outstanding. Food arrived, again WOW! presentation is special, taste is spot on, all six of us enjoyed everything we had, starters, mains and sides are all perfect. My husband is not a spicy food lover, but he said "I`ll be coming back here" This is a hidden gem of a place in Wednesbury, from the main road it looks like part of next door restaurant, the drive on Woden Road East is the entrance, once inside you will be amazed as we were. Thank You to all the staff for making Mom`s birthday so special. We will see you very soon.

Food is very good, criticism I have is time scales. For instance I asked for an onion it took 25 mins, I asked for the card machine to pay it didn’t come after waiting 20mins I had to approach the bar to pay. Never the less, the quality of food was traditional and good quality. Poppadoms ate pricey, most restaurants are around £2/3

We dine in at Gurkha 1816 regularly as it is a fantastic restaurant. The food is always amazing and one of the best in the country in my opinion! All the staff are fantastic and very attentive. They also have a very good drinks selection and the food and drink are very reasonably priced.

Car parking available, friendly staff , large food and drinks menu, food was freshly cooked well presented and very tasty, will use again👍

Excellent food, great service and well worth a trip

My family chose Gurkha 1816 for our food. Their food is absolutely amazing. We chose Gurkhali Lamb, Kathmandu Lamb, and Lamb on the bone. Everyone decided to choose lamb as these guys make it so tender and very tasty. It is Nepalese and Indian and staff are very friendly. It was a busy Friday night so we did have to wait a while to be served our main course but busy means it's a very popular restaurant. I am also a coeliac and need gluten free food which they happily adapted the dishes. Food was not oily like some places and large portions, we even had leftovers that we brought home. The chef definitely knows his food and it was presented very well. We definitely recommend this restaurant

I was recommended this go to absolute diamond. The food is superb, full of flavour, freshly cooked and had you wanting to try all their menu! They are also a family run business extremely helpful and spot on delivery. This is my second time back. Can’t wait to try more of the menu next time.

I have Ordered food from this restaurant and also dined in. Gurka 1816 delivers authentic flavors in a modest setting. While the strong masala taste in the curries might not suit everyone, the naan breads are a highlight, fluffy and crispy perfection. Service is consistently good, making it a reliable choice for a satisfying meal.

Nice relaxing Ambience and the food is amazing. Dined with my wife and our 2 children. We all said how much we enjoyed it. I'm vegetarian and my ?Wife a vegan, there were plenty of options on the menu and the staff are friendly and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone. ( The Gurkha beer is a lovely drop too.)

1 hour 55 minutes wait for a takeaway and still had to go out into the rain to collect it from the driver because he can't read an address.

This was my second visit to the restaurant. It was great. The food and the service was all fab. The presentation of the food on our plates, along with how it tasted was excellent. We asked for the spice to be mild, and they were happy to do that - they were very accommodating in every way. Our servers were very friendly, the chef came out to speak with us afterwards and we were very happy overall. The wait between ordering and our food arriving was fine, as the was time between starters and mains. It wasn't very busy on the evening that we visited so it wasn't very noisy - I like that! Would happily go again and recommend.
