Stayed for a few nights. Absolutely awful food, dirty plates in the buffet. Same food every day. School age service for staff. Felt like food was prepared for an hospital. Carrots black and no potatoes peeled all in the skin looking disgusting 😑

We came for a midweek stay. Staff were absolutely fantastic. Food is a buffet and Plenty to choose from and caters for all dietary needs. Lots of activities to join in with which are great fun. Learn to dance, shooting, archery are some of the activities. Grounds are beautiful and the chalets are clean and comfortable. Thankyou to all the staff who work so hard.

Went for Turkey / Tinsel and Elvis 18th-19th Dec .The accommodation ,Food and cleanliness was excellent ,but duy to a medical emergency that, can happen ,whilst waiting for the Elvis experience to start around 9.15 pm we were told to evacuate the 'Ball Room'due to an emergency, there was some several hundred people sitting around the only available seats in the restaurant and surrounding area's which were extreamly packed ,and we were all kept for some hour or so without further information as to what was happening to the advertised Elvis part of the advised break .This resulted in for us never even seeing 'Elvis ' and just returning to our rooms, as some others were also saying at 10.30 -11 ish at night ,this completely ruined our two day 'Elvis ' break' .

This was our second time at Gunton Hall celebrating Christmas a little early with their ‘tinsel and turkey’ break and although we enjoyed ourselves we did notice cutbacks…… no Lindt chocolate bears, Christmas hats or poppers at the Christmas Day dinner table just crackers. Our granddaughter definitely missed her chocolate bears! The accommodation was clean and warm but did notice that there were less snacks in the Signature basket (only one packet of crisps instead of two and the olives and snack bar had disappeared in the past year too). A nice touch though, which we hadn’t experienced before, were the mulled wine and Christmas pie served on arrival. The accommodation was as usual clean, warm and nicely stocked with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits….replenished daily. All members of staff were friendly, professional and helpful. The dinning experience this time was gorgeous, never minded queuing for a meal. The pool was cold due to a boiler issue which was waiting to mended but still managed a swim once. Didn’t attend the evening performances so can’t comment on them. Enjoyed our evening liqueur coffee and gingerbread latte each evening after dinner. there were cutbacks would still return as Gunton Hall is our nearest Warner hotel and we do enjoy them.

A fab weekend away. Gunton hall is a little dated. But clean and the grounds well kept. Food excellent and lots of choice. We had standard chalets. Comfortable and warm. Nice big bathroom and tea and coffee We did shooting and archery. Both well explained and helpful. Cocktail making with Tom was brilliant ( worth the extra charge) very informative and the tasting even better ! Evening entertainment very good. Wasn’t really to our taste but enjoyable. Big Thankyou for Jenny for playing all the records we wanted and letting us dance till late All the staff are helpful and friendly and there is something to do all the time you are there The only disappointment was the pool wasn’t open due to boiler issues. We wasn’t informed of this before we arrived

We've been to Gunton Hall countless times over the last 15+ years and loved our stays. We've obviously seen changes over that time, but the recent changes in the Restaurant are definitely not for the better, making the whole Dining experience stressful and disappointing. The removal of the Menus making it total self service created a Cafeteria/ School Dinners vibe with hoards of guests queuing up to select their food. There appeared to be a reduction in staff too as tables weren't cleared as quickly as they used to be, food was not replenished quickly and plates not always available in all sections. The floor space available and layout at Gunton is not sufficient for the number of diners. Elderly or less mobile guests struggled to select and carry food back to their table- some on mobility scooters or using walking aids. If you chose food from the Chefs Selection you had to then join the long carvery queue to get some vegetables (whilst the rest of your dinner went cold) or do without. The quality of the food was still great but Warners....it just doesn't work. Please bring the menus and dedicated waiters back!

Booked a standard room Monday to Friday end October, was upgraded to a Premier chalet kingwood 11 by gunton hall we was excited at the upgrade but found it to be dark , depressive looking , dirty carpets , wallpaper coming away ,paint chipped , furniture seen better days ,coffee table chipped and bubbling up on top, bed poorly made and not attached, cracks in the shower, unsteady shower base dips when standing in it , bad damp and mould in shower room and condensation , even with fan working , damp mould patches coming through bedroom ceiling , heaters rusty ,we went to the reception to bring these points to their attention, the receptionist spoke to the manager who credited some money back to us with a oplogy , told us that the maintenance man would be coming to tape the cracks in the shower , he also brought the dressing gowns that were advertised but not in our room , we was in disbelief that anyone wouldn't have complained before our visit as I don't think anyone would find this acceptable, to say that we was deflated is a understatement, especially as we had booked the standard room originally and was happy with our last stay in a standard , to be upgraded to this room felt like a insult , being our anniversary we was let down , not offered anything to make our stay special, I realise they couldn't move us as they told us they were fully booked , but it wasn't enough to just oplogise and tape a couple of cracks, we did enjoy the food and entertainment, golf, archery and rifle shooting, swimming etc .

Very tired areas, reception area very stark and uninviting as was lounge, seating very uncomfortable, service for drinks very slow as you cannot go to bar yourself, all meals buffet service, chaotic with long queues and elderly struggling to get back to their tables with a meal, room 6 green wood very poor light as blocked by trees ,smelt damp too, really dislike the self service , it’s just another slippery slide to getting minimal service, my husband also ordered flowers for my birthday which didn’t arrive, this was organised through the hotel, not much in the way of an apology either, all in all a very average warners, definitely will not be back to this one as most of the others much nicer.

Warner ,os ? Meals ha ! Like rations ,,small and tasteless ! Chatlets ,, far away ,,no comfort or method make for disabled ! Why ? Far away from main facilities, chalets for disabled were tucked away in a corner with sawn down trees, rubble and we overlooked run down boarded up chalets, small garden outside disabled chalets scruffy with dead plants, chalet was not clean, the furniture was old and battered. Asked for our chalet to be cleaned but no-one turned up. We have been Sinah Warren, Norton Grange and others before and they have been good, but not this time, we were very disappointed. The other chalets for able people were lovely, well maintained and the garden areas outside were neat and full of thriving pretty plants. The differences between the disabled chalets and the ones for more able people were very marked, and we felt that anything would do for people with a disability. We thought the days of treating disabled people as the lowest of the low were over but obviously warners still suscribe to that ethos. We paid far more for this break than at Norton Grange having upgraded to a premier chalet at Gunton Hall but norton grange far outshone this site. Where we were placed was worse than a low grade pontins. Have been in touch with them but have had no response. So our advice is if your disabled don't go there as it is disgusting how you get treated.

The table serving staff worked their socks off to keep up with demand and a special mention for Lilly our singing and dancing waitress who was outstanding. The food was five star throughout but was marred by the shortage of plates in the self service hall causing large queues at times. Also there could have been extra staff in the food hall making sure that the serving dishes were kept topped up. Other than that no complaints.

Our third visit this year and sadly the food/restaurant has not improved. We were there for the 60’s weekend. The entertainment was really good but yet again the break is let down by mediocre food. Also the food on offer at lunch time is an extortionate price nearly £10 for a sandwich - really!! I have previously written reviews about the poor food and sadly nothing has changed. Whatever the review Warners just use the stock answer. Sorry some aspects of your stay were disappointing we hope to see you again. Read your reviews and act on it. The food and restaurant need improvements made. Also the price goes up but things are cut back on ie only one hand towel per room unless you request two. Really this is crazy HYGIENE! No tissues in the room. On-site booking discount reduced, holiday protection increased. Our friends were in Willow Cottage and even the extra goodies for these rooms were cut back on. Warners you really need to take a long hard look at yourselves.

Having stayed here previously and been very impressed, we booked again for a long weekend. This time we were in the room next to the one we stayed in last time which had been beautiful. Having spent A LOT of money to upgrade to a royal room within the hotel we expected the same standard of room as we'd had before but we were sorely disappointed. The net curtains were torn and tatty. The bathroom door handle was falling off, although this was quickly rectified when we reported it, the shower cubicle was damaged and the room just felt shabby. The food was good but not as good as previously or at other Warners. The waiter who served us all weekend was surly and disinterested and basically every rude and unhelpful when I asked for poached eggs for breakfast. I was also horrified (as we're many others) at how rudely one of the outside entertainers spoke, or rather shouted at a couple of guests, we were mortified for the couple and actually left the ballroom. Hopefully they won't ever be employed by your company again. We will be using Warners again but will think twice about using gunton hall which is a great shame as our first stay was so wonderful

My wife and I have been to all of the Warner hotels and find them all very good. We have been put back a few times because of the Virus but finally (we hope) will be going to Gunton. We have been there many times before and like most of the hotels and villages we expect a good time. We know that the distancing thing will be pretty good and see that the meal times and shows have been spread to suit. BUT there is one problem that will need to be addressed, as I understand that it is waiter service only. From past experience this means very small portions with hardly any vegetables. It has gone over to the modern way of serving a "pretty" meal but small in portion size. This is just about enough for the average Lady but for Men it is far to small in fact they are both the same size when any nutritionist will tell you that men need more calories than Women. My wife often had the waiter service but I couldn't because it just wasn't a fair size for a man so either had to go to the buffet for extra by which time my meal had cooled or just stick with the buffet choices which in all fairness is very good. This is not an option now so guests need to be offered a man sizes meal or the normal small pretty one. This is the same at all the Warner sites and I hope this can be sorted satisfactorily soon.

We were given this break as a Christmas gift.I must admit I was a little bit underwhelmed when we were given this.On arrival my doubts were put to rest, there was a reserved place for my car and the grounds were well maintained. We were welcomed at reception by very nice and helpful staff. We went to our chalet which was very well appointed and spacious, tea making facilities and biscuits plus other nibbles all free and replaced every day. Shower and bathing things in the bathroom. Our deal included breakfast and evening meal, a reserved table is given to all guests which I think is brilliant.Plenty of different food choices and a dedicated waiter/waitress for your table.Evening entertainment was provided, plus if you like ballroom dancing you can do it every night with the in-house band. One tip here is book your table in advance for every night you want to be entertained other wise you won't get a table. This place is great for us older generation as no children are allowed. There are also outside sports like Archery and rifle shooting. Golf and a fabulous swimming pool. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly recommended.

We were sent a letter a week before we went, telling us about the swimming pool being out of order, but they grudgingly agreed to let us use Corton’s pool if they rang ahead to check it was convenient. I think a free drink/bottle of wine would have been appropriate. We were also told when we booked that casual bowls would be available (I checked specially as we wanted to do this and why I booked Gunton Hall). We arrived to find a bowls competition every day, but they squeezed us in for an hour! This was very disappointing and I am cross to have been given the wrong information. I agree the food isn’t great but our accommodation in Willow Cottage has been lovely. However we didn’t get our snacks and drinks replenished which is a shame. This accommodation was obviously much more expensive than the chalets where we stayed last time, but conveniently situated close to the house and lovely to have a separate sitting room with additional TV. The venue is about 3 miles from Lowestoft station, so if you want to you can get into town easily. The resort consists of a main building with the reception, bars, coffee shop, restaurant and entertainment hall. Most of the rooms are chalet style in the grounds. There is also a indoor bowls green, a decent swimming pool, spa area and gym. I used the pool and gym and both were good, although the gym isn't that big but has what you would expect there. The team are very welcomng and friendly, the room clean and the food very good. The grounds are very well maintained, and set in 55 acres with a lake. There is a ptich and putt golf area but I didn't use it. Ideally you need dry weather to be able to get out and about.

In general the restaurant is quite nice, Our waitress Maddie was great the whole weekend, On arrival Friday evening we was told the hot meat was off the menu as it was started to late so nothing to go with the roast potatoes and other food for a roast, Cold chicken tough had the fish & chips fish was non existent just batter not a good start, Saturday evening the same tough chicken & not very much of a variety to choose from, Sunday evening cold meats looked mouldy, Told that the salmon was finished at just after 7 o'clock Asked for the pork once sliced ready to put on my plate it was all fat & gristle told chef to leave it, Tried to get something that went together from the rest of what was on offer ended up with a mish mash of food never ate it, The duty manager came i explained the situation she was very sympathetic but could not do anything and she would report my complaint whilst there we showed her a picture of our friends feta cheese starter that had a 1 centimetre sq of feta cheese, Summing up if you do go there have a big breakfast that was fine (apart from Monday morning when the waiter tried to take my plate whilst i was still eating) Everything was rushed probably due to the change over, evening meals get there as it opens or be ready to be disappointed, We have previously stayed at 6 other warners adult only hotels this was by far the worst one for food, The other warners were very good for food & service, We will not be going back to Gunton Hall.

We had read excellent reviews of the food at Gunton Hall, and were a bit disappointed by the dinners. They were not awful but just nothing special. The bread which came with what was a slightly meagre serving of smoked salmon and with some rilletes was dried out - nearly toast. I had a blade of beef which was a bit dry and came with an over peppery sauce. There was also a tendency for things to have run out if you came for dinner later on. Having said that, breakfast was good, with a wide choice, both hot and cold.

Visited on 4 night stay after visiting 3 times last year. My husband has disability & we were allocated a suite on 1st floor in Willow Cottage - not happy but husband persevered with stairs. My main complaint was the deterioration of the food. Choices were very good but never had, what we would call a "hot"meal during the course of our visit. They certainly did not have enough staff for a adequate service in either bars, which caused disapproval from many other guests. Will not be going back, which is a shame as it is only a couple of hours drive. Sorry Gunton Hall

There is always a good variety of food available on the menu. We were served by Ellie on our 2 night break. She was welcoming & informative about the menu.

We indulged in the excellent variety of food - both served to table and buffet; there was fish available every day and in the morning, omelettes and pancakes cooked to order by Richard the extremely hard-working, excellent chef ... bliss!!

In reply to Emmas response to my review at Gunton Hall I would like to say that I do know you can book your preferred seating zone in the Pavillion Ballroom before your arrival, which we did, what I am saying is it was much better before when you could just go in the ballroom and decide where you wanted to sit. The tables are so close together so it is very cramped with no room to manoevere.

We’ve been going to Warner’s Gunton Hall now for maybe 4 years in that gap between Xmas and New Year for some well-earned relaxation after the madness of Christmas. The break includes three 3 course evening meals and 3 breakfasts. We’re far from the oldest visitors being 66 and 61; many regulars there are well into their late seventies or eighties. One of the attractions is the excellent food, good service and no washing up! This year was better than ever. Our young waiter Dom was a delight: polite, helpful, efficient, knowledgeable, professional, friendly and a really nice young man. He made every meal an absolute pleasure. The food was, as always plentiful, of high quality, well presented, cooked to perfection, tasty and far too easy to eat too much of! Breakfast was practically identical every day though the choice was so extensive that it didn’t matter. Freshly-made while-you-wait omelettes were always available for variety. The fresh fruit was a bit samey. Sadly no strawberries or blueberries but melon, apples, oranges and bananas. There was a roast dinner buffet every night as a choice plus maybe 4 meals served at your table and always something special like bouef bourguignon or coq au vin. The vegetables were always perfectly cooked al dente. Really all very, very good. If you ordered wine, they’d save any left over for you for the following evening. They really do an excellent job when you consider the huge number of people dining at more or less the same time. We paid about £75 a night each for room, breakfast and dinner which, for the time of year, is pretty good. So good in fact that we’ve already rebooked for the same period in 2019. So if you’re close to retirement, age or even way past it, and if you enjoy good food with excellent service and not having to do any washing up, this is the place for you to enjoy a really relaxing break.

Just came back from a one night break at Gunton Hall staying in a Premier chalet, we felt the room was excellent well appointed and much better than it looked in the photos. The food was very nice with quite a good choice. The entertainment was much better than we would have expected from an in-house team, we did feel that Sarah's singing talent was under used after enjoying an early show in the bar, maybe this could have been followed up with a late night show. I would like to finally say your staff are a credit to you from receptionists to the hosts to the entertainment team to the ground people every one of them was polite and happy.

We stayed here for a full week and really enjoyed ourselves. We booked standard accommodation which had recently been refurbished and was very comfortable. The staff were friendly, entertainment was very good and the entertainment team were great. We have been to Corton and enjoyed it there too but think Gunton is better with having separate ballroom.

Having read other reviews I was pleasantly surprised. We had a standard room and as you can see from the photos it was perfectly adequate. Very clean, tidy and had everything we needed. A fridge would have been nice but we asked for ice and bucket and they were happy to oblige each day so we could chill a bottle of wine. The food was excellent. As was the service in the restaurant, coffee shop, bar and reception. I’m not sure why people post these bad reviews??? They must live in a perfect house, in a perfect street with a perfect job and a perfect family. Get a life! This place is fabulous for the money. We will return.

Activities OK but service awful. In-house entertainment amateurish but outside acts good. Management not "visible" and, when located, did not resolve issues.

Worst food Ive ever been served. Not up to the standard of other Warners which I would have though would be the same on all camps.

The restaurant is spacious, light and airy. We had a lovely table for two in a quiet slightly secluded area. Good choice of food daily, hot food was hot and cold suitably chilled, Staff extremely efficient and welcoming. Food served quickly despite the numbers needing to be served. I note that dietary requirements were dealt with efficiently for those who required a special diet.

Had a weekend break at Warner’s Gunton Hall staying in their new Premier chalet with signature experience. The chalet was fabulous it seemed brand new, so glad we booked it. Water, bottle of wine and savoury snack was included. Robes in the wardrobe but was too big for me so used my own, toiletries were in the new bathroom fridge in room to keep water and wine cold. The grounds were lovely and well kept . We didn’t make use of the daily games etc but went out to the local beaches and towns. The evening entertainment was really good so really enjoyed my birthday.

Sally was able to find the butterfly necklace that I wanted but never purchased on my trip to Warners at Gunton Hall. Her quick response by sending me the item once credit card details were taken made me feel over the moon when I swiftly received this item in the post.

We used to go to this cafe years ago and always enjoyed our experience. Unfortunately today our experience was not a good one. Felt like I spent more time queuing for drinks and then back for food than sitting down and enjoying the experience. The menu seems somewhat downgraded from when we went before (very limited - no JPs or salads etc.). In the counter pastries (sausage rolls and tea cakes) sold out by 11:30. But for us we ordered 2 x bacon, cheese and tomato paninis (£8ea with no salad garnish!). I think the photos show the problems, as one of the guests are in early pregnancy I am really disappointed this grey spoilt meat was served. They didn’t come round and ask how the food was like most restaurants do, so we took the plate up the girl looked confused and took it to the kitchen they offered another one (noting no apologies given) but spoilt meat was enough to put us off and they did complete a refund for the one that was off quickly. Such a shame but to be served off meat is pretty terrible for a well established cafe. Won’t be back, which is such a shame. Note: we are not people to complain so this is a rarity. The shop however is still a lovely visit.

We were a large family out for a birthday meal and were incredibly well looked after at this amazing restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff are all amazing and so attentive. Was so good to see Chris back too . They even made a great effort to put my daughters candle on her desert for her . Thank you so much for a wonderful evening

As a stranger to the area, checked the website that shows the shop was open. It wasn't so went to the other shop at the other side of town, where the food was excellent ,the staff friendly and very busy, good luck to them. They deserve it.

The friendliest staff and best fried bread this side of the Pecos River. The full English breakfast is top drawer but the fried bread wins the prize! Love this place!

Having a short break from my stressful job at Kessingland Beach Holiday park, and this lovely pub is just round the corner and within walking distance. Wow, atmosphere is lovely, very welcoming and genuine local pub, we left our dog in the caravan, but found they let dogs in the pub. Big seating area outside, that would be lovely to sit in, in summer as it overlooks the sea. Hubby had the cheeseburger which came with coleslaw, crinkle chips and onion rings, he said it was lovely, with a proper butchers burger, I had fish and chips with garden peas, or shall I say Moby Dick, it was that big.... Beautifully cooked meal, really enjoyable, thank you, it was lovely.
