Celebrated my Son's Birthday here, and it was absolutely amazing! Food was very tasty, hot and great portions. The service was brilliant and staff were very friendly. Was even treated to some entertainment as they had a Magician and a Belly Dancer! The whole night was superb fun and lively! Highly recommend this local Family-run business. Will definitely visit again soon & can't wait! Thank you Gulen's x

I had a great experience dining at Gulen's (or Gulen Ocakbasi) in Welling, London last Saturday. The food was prepared to perfection. I've been spoiled with delicious food all my life but this was next level!! I had different Mediterranean flavors (#meze) and kebab platter. Both were exceptionally tasty. I saw where they prepare and cook on coal fire. I think this contributes to taste but still the texture the taste, try it yourself! 🥩🍖🥗 Also there was live music and she was very entertaining with a great voice. 🎙️ Ambience was happy and classy, lighting was perfect, I will certainly take my friends and family there as I already miss the food in just a couple of days! If going on Friday/Saturday dinner time, don't forget to make a reservation. I imagine lunch times should be less tricky.

Went here last night with friends. Lovely restaurant, great food and waitress was fabulous. Not often i write a negative review but was stunned with our treatment at the end. We noticed we had been charged for double G & T’s, didn’t think too much of it, just an error, the waitress consulted with the owner (who we didn’t see) and he admitted he had automatically served us doubles! Not only is that upselling without asking us if that is what we wanted or wanted to pay for, I only had one as i was driving and my friend has to be super strict with alcohol limits as she has an intolerance which makes her very sick. The bill was changed but then they upped the price of the tonics to make up the difference!! At no point did we see the owner, who never came over to discuss just kept sending the highly embarrassed waitress back and forth with ridiculous explanations. We just paid and left as didn’t want to m ake her feel worse as wasn’t her fault. When it comes to alcohol levels and charging there was no thought or duty to the customer whatsoever. Can you imagine if this was you and you were involved in a car accident on the way home and charged with drink driving, perhaps a lost job, criminal record etc when you were completely unaware you were over the limit?!! A great meal could turn into a life changing event and rather than admit their wrongdoing they then charged us for it! Needless to say that’s 3 repeat customers you lost but also want to make people aware of irresponsible and dangerous behaviour with no care for their customer except their wallet!

What a lovely place , staff super friendly, very attentive, food was really good , lots of choice , and really tasty . Restaurant itself nice decor and roomy , not cramped in next to people . Only downside , wine wasn’t the best and not chilled , avoid the Pinot. All in all a big thumbs up for this Turkish in welling !!!

We booked for an anniversary dinner. The place was packed and vibrant. We were given options where to sit. There is always a great atmosphere without being too loud; we could talk without shouting. Service was perfect. Drinks then meal order. We like Gulen's as their mewnu is suitable for all tastes. My man course was sea base; beautifully cooked with rice and salad. A very pleasant night out.

Please get some decent chips Gulens! Nice kebabs even if the meat is a bit shy and measly portion size but the chips are dire! They taste like cardboard! If the chips were decent and the meat portions increased this could be a great local kebab shop.

We ordered a number of meals for take away. The chicken shish kebab came with little salad. The burger and chips had a small handful of chips. The combination kebab meal looked lost in a great big square tinfoil tray with lid and again hardly any rice, salad and chips. Overpriced and small portions. The salad is lovely but without the celery which overpowers the flavour too much. The portions are so small that we don’t use this place and go elsewhere where the portions are decent and not overpriced. Shame as we would use this a lot more if the portion sizes were bigger and they weren’t so overpriced. Not worth the money.

Fresh delicious food, very generous portions. The cocktails are amazing and again they are very generous and reasonably priced. Staff friendly and can’t do enough for you. Lovely little place.

We had been at Gulens a few weeks ago and had such an amazing time ,I even left a review on here! We came back again having told our friends how great the belly dancer was and what a good time we had had.Unfortunately it wasn`t the lovely blonde lady and the drummer and we were all sooo disappointed! Didn’t get what I ordered (it was inedible) and man was rude and confrontational, don’t waste your money

After reading the reviews I decided to go to this restaurant for me and my twins birthday, with my mum and older sister The place was full and the staff were busy but we were quickly seated and treated like VIPs, which was a lovely touch. The young waitresses were very smiley, quick at noticing when we wanted to order, and never pestered us, we were having a good chat and laugh and didn't go long without wanting a drink or food. We got the hallumi, garlic mushrooms and calamari to start, all bursting with flavour and juicy. I had the lamb shish for my main, large deeply marinated bits of meat that melted in your mouth, with great portion sizes. We were extremely happy with the food given! We had a few shots through the night and asked if they would mind providing an alcohol free alternative for my mum as she wasn't drinking, and they did so, also not forgetting her when we re ordered. Which I thought was very thoughtful. We had a lovely birthday baklava with a song and sparklers, and we really had a lovely night. When we were ready to leave the very helpful Dino took us to a cute little shisha bar a couple of doors down where we continued to giggle and enjoy ourselves after. 10/10 we will be coming back!

Me and my husband visit this restaurant regularly. It only ever gets better. The food is amazing the staff are so lovely. We have tried a lot of Turkish restaurants and this by far is the best. The portion sizes are big and the prices are so reasonable. This is a family run business and they always make the effort to talk to you even remembering our names, our last meal we had before lockdown and our first after lockdown! Only Turkish takeaway we will get aswell please try you won't be disappointed

Richard and I first came as a couple and felt so welcomed. We have since brought family and friends and everyone has loved it. If you have ever been fortunate enough to have been to Turkey, you will thoroughly appreciate the authentic taste of the delicious food. The service is absolutely impeccable. Evie and Ella are incredible and brilliant at their jobs. They provide excellent service and their customer service skills for me are out of this world. Evie remembers each time we visit what we have tried and encourages us to have something new each time that she thinks we will enjoy. She’s never wrong and we love this side of the customer service. Ella always makes us smile and laugh and nothing is too big or small to achieve. Gulen is amazing and we have had our food in the sister bar which offers shisha. That was excellent and a lovely experience. Gulen is sooo lovely and welcomes everY customer with open arms. Kibir is lovely and her food is sensational. We love eating at this restaurant and we feel like part of the family. We highly recommend this restaurant for exceptional service, incredible flavour and outstanding ambience. It was our first trip to Gulen after having driven past it for a number of years. The food was great and the service very friendly. I would heartily recommend the mixed grill as a main course.

I visit numerous ‘grills’ across London but having visited this one today I now have a firm favourite. Best tasting food, great price, friendly staff.

I wondered why this place is rated so highly. Having been a couple of times I understand now, the food and service are both excellent.

We came here ordered takeaway for 2 adult 2 children the service we received was excellent when taking our order we felt that the worker was friendly and helpful and cared about us my son asked if he could have cucumber with his nuggets and chip they said of course which made he so happy lol we order lamb chops big pieces they were and cooked with care and not dry we ordered lamb kebab cube of lamb cooked beautifully only one issue is they were quite big the cubes for us lol chicken wings were juicy and fell of the bone so easily I would recommend this place and could give more stars if I could

Yesterday evening, I visited Gulen Ocakbasi. Initially, I was a little nervous as there were no other clients in there at 7pm. However, I should not have worried as the food was divine. Please try the lamb dishes and the Turkish tea!

I have never been treated so well ordering a takeaway before! The staff here are absolutely brilliant and the food is incredible. Whilst waiting for my own food, I watched the staff prepare food for diners which looked amazing. Absolutely everything I had was just so delicious- garlic mushrooms, lamb ribs, lamb kofte, houmous, Turkish sausage, it was all AMAZING!! Thank you for the fantastic food and service GULEN OCAKBASI!! I’ll definitely be coming back with friends in tow.

One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. My group shared a mixed hot and cold meze which included a number of dips with bread and halloumi, Turkish sausage and garlic mushrooms. The sausage was the highlight of this course as well as the bread which was soft and well flavoured. As a main course I had the mixed kebab. The portion was huge and I didn’t even come close to finishing this - I had to take it home with me! The chicken shish was particularly flavoursome and tender but the standout was the Adana kofte which had such a nice level of spice to it. I highly recommend. The staff are friendly too, all in all we had a lovely evening.

Met up here to catch up with family members and got treated like family. The food is very good and excellent value. The Adana was very good that evening as was the mixed grill for two. It’s basic, good value and friendly 👌

I love eating in this restaurant. Not what you would expect from a restaurant, ie no frills and spills, but the food more than makes up for that. Always tastes fresh and home cooked. My go-to kebab shop every time. Servers are always friendly and helpful and the owners are lovely, genuine guys. Just make sure you take cash as they don't have credit card facilities.

I have been meaning to return for a while, but juse haven't had the chance. On friday evening, I came with two of my friends and we had a brilliant night! Just like last time, service was the extra mile.food was plentiful, moist and general good quality. The vibe was great. My recommendation is the sharing starters at the beginning. The combo of dips is great and you get a good variety.

Our meal was excellent and well cooked. It was perfect and amazing. I and my family have been to many other Turkish restaurants and, by far, this is the best one we've been to! Not only was the food great but the service was too. We ordered our meal and just after 7 minutes, it was already there and properly cooked as well. The staff that works there are amazing with a great sense of humour they make us feel welcome not as if we're customers but friends they would actually have a night out with. Amazing. Spectacular. Impeccable.

Absolutely love this excellent traditional family run Turkish restaurant, the kebabs are cooked over a proper charcoal bbq grill (ocakbasi) & are the best I’ve ever eaten & the meze is fresh & delicious. The family that run it are so friendly & welcoming, the food is well priced especially given how good it is !! Visited this restaurant last night with a friend. The food was delicious, the best I've had and the portions large, to the extent that we had to ask for a 'doggy bag', which I forgot to take with us. The service was as good as the food and staff were friendly and welcoming. No hesitation in recommending this restaurant to all our friends. Going back soon.

Hidden gem. I have to admit, I have lived in Welling for years and always thought this was a take-away kebab shop. Only by chance I went in there to grab some food and realised they have a dining area out back, and it was packed with people eating which is always a good sign. We both had the Iskander, which was superb, and really well priced. Beer was also great value and the service was perfect - will be back for sure.

Hemos querido probar Gulens durante algún tiempo y nos dieron la oportunidad de anoche. Todos los comentarios tienen razón, la comida es fresca y deliciosa (especialmente el cordero) y el personal es muy amable y atento. Algunos trucos de magia redondeada. Puedes llevar tu propio vino, cosa que hicimos ya que estamos en red y prosecco. No sirve cerveza. Altamente recomendado y todos nos fuimos llenos y felices. El mezze mixta y kebab comida que probamos es muy generoso.

I have been going to Gulens for the last 5 years since moving into the area and i can honestly say the food is the tastiest and best i have had in the area.Turkish food is my go to food now when deciding on a night out to eat and this place is has been spot on every time i go.A family run business with amazing staff that are so friendly and accommodatingThe portions are huge and very reasonably priced as are the drinks.You will be hard pushed to experience an overall better night out dining.BarryBexleyheath

Having been to Turkey more than 40 times it is great to find a restaurant serving authentic Turkish cuisine. This was my second visit to this restaurant and both times the food,service and atmosphere were what you would expect from a family run establishment.Would recommend booking as it fills up very quickly.

Small family run business who provide fantastic customer service together with great food, We were given some starters to try, free of charge, whilst we waited for our food. Eating in? you walk through to the back and you could be a visitor in someones home! sitting down at table, you are treated as a welcome visitor rather than a customer!Highly recommended!!

The first thing you will notice about this restaurant is that it appears to look like nothing more than a takeaway place. This is what you see when you walk into the front, because the seating and whatnot can be found at the back of the restaurant. It may portray the place as tacky and off-putting for your ideal saturday evening meal. I can relate to this, but before you are quick to turn away and try elsewhere, I strongly recommend that you try the food. Once you try the food, you will be convinced.We came here as a belated birthday/graduation meal. All seven of us dressed reasonably smart, but when we strolled in, we found that others were more casual, which was slightly uncomfortable. The menu does not specify any alcoholic drinks but they do serve them, including wines and beer. For starters, we opted for the mezze starter (recommended for four) which included mushrooms, sausage, halloumi, calamari and endless pita and dips. Although there were seven of us, this was genuinely plenty and this is coming from pretty big eaters! My Dad was particularly impressed by both quality and quantity of this starter and the dips tasted beautifully fresh. I would recommend the calamari.For mains I opted for a chicken shish; my nan chose lamb and my Dad the mixed mezze. Personally I felt that the mains did not match the quality of the starters in that they were pretty plain and nothing special as such. I felt there could have been more salad and I wasn't crazy about the chips. That said, the meat itself was fresh and juicy- we all agreed on this aspect. It is important to note that throughout the meal, the staff were ever so attentive and even entertained us with a few jokes and magic tricks. This really added to the experience.I would recommend that people tried this, because we had a lovely evening. The food was good quality and very reasonably priced; for seven of us including beers, the meal totalled to 110. I think the place would do well to give it a more restaurant feel- perhaps places beads in between the restaurant and takeaway aspect. I would also suggest that they jazz up the mains a little, if possible. But thank you for a great experience!

The owners of this terrific Welling place have always excelled at friendliness and hospitality. In fact in the early days when it opened the owner used to bring a television to the back of the dining area so we could watch Match Of The Day and one time as they closing offered a lift home as he was passing our way. Naturally that level of hospitality is beyond what can be expected, but otherwise the standards remain from the excellent quality meat to the grilled vegetables and halloumi with chilled Efes beer. Give it a go !!!

I visited on Friday night 4th of November with family it was 4 of us, the place was full but I had a table pre-booked. It was cold outside but inside felt warm and cosy. We were served by two girls I didn't get their names but they were very friendly and professional and we felt very welcome. The food was fantastic, we had a mixed kebabs which were served with rice and salad but there is also an option to have it with chips the meat was cooked to perfection and it was full of flavours. I defenenately recommend this place to anyone and I will be back. Weldone guys keep up a good work!

I work near by and eat here at least 4 times a week. Never had a bad meal or grumpy stuff. They are always happy and helpful. Very very reasonably priced too. Highly recommend.

The food was fine, nothing amazing. Tender meat but kisir was too dry and the rice served was just boiled, not cooked Turkish style. Sauces were from Macro, not homemade.
