Great music, friendly enough staff but never seen so many pushchairs in a pub at 5pm on a Fri..avoid if you don’t want crying babies and yummy mummies talking about their kids lol

Despite having reserved for Sunday lunch, we were given one of the high small round tables in the corner. They had messed up the reservation. With two small children (one in a high chair), this wasn't suitable and our baby bumped her head on the table twice. We had to negotiate with other customers to get an actual table. While the food was okay, the service was lacking and not family-friendly at all. So we won't be visiting again with children.

Roast is good but I came today with a table of 8 we all ordered at the same time yet mine came half way through everyone else’s and when it came it was cold, when I asked if it could be heated up they were abrupt when I asked for that and then I still waited even longer for it to be heated - everyone had finished by this point so I asked for a refund. Really disappointed with this. I appreciate that it’s busy but I still don’t think that’s an excuse. Won’t be coming back and this is somewhere I used to come all the time.

Okay, so it’s 8.40pm on a Monday night, just walked into the pub with my little dog and ordered a pint, as one barman pulls my beer another member of staff comes over and tells me “ sorry no dogs after 8pm” ! Many cancel the pint that’s just been poured . So as I know sit in another local pub with my do I check your website. Trying to find out why it’s an 8pm cut off point for dogs , could in be due to opening and closing hours, could it be because of the time found is served ? Nothing actually fits in with an 8pm dog cut off point. However after searching the pub website it does state that on a Friday & Saturday no dogs after 8.30pm ! Due to the noise. I totally understand that. However it’s a quiet Monday night. The over enthusiastic bar person didn’t even have the common sense to say” I’m sorry Sir but no dogs. After 8pm however you can enjoy the pint you have just ordered and drink it outside under one of the heated canopies “ no instead I left and the pint obviously having to be poured down the drain. All I can put this down to is very poor low quality management. So I will not bother going to the Grove Tavern again and will happily use one I’ve the many other well managed pubs in the area that welcome dogs and their owners .

We went for Sunday roast with some friends. Good atmosphere. Roasts were good albeit a fairly small plate. No Guinness as the tap was off was a real disappointment.

One of the chillest pubs in the neighbourhood. Chill staff, chill patrons, chill tunes playing. Mondo sando during the week operates out of here - I’ve been meaning to try it, as it’s the talk of the town, but I can’t personally vouche for it… yet! Dog friendly pub, which is chill too. Nice tables outside in the lane

Quality boozer. Gone are the days of running past the Grove House Tavern on your way to the Crooked Well (still a fantastic pub). Now you are greeted by bustling bench’s, perfect pints and Mondo Sando’s sandwiches. These, along with friendly staff, are the ingredients for a great pub. The Grove House Tavern has it all.

Had a semi-decent roast dinner here, though nothing special. Roast potatoes were awful, meat was overcooked but also tasted good. Pretty ordinary beers, Brixton Pale, etc.

Honestly the worst Sunday roast I have ever had in my entire life. soggy 'roast' potato's, semi raw carrots, watery tasteless gravy over priced potato sides (sides in general) stuffing balls and Romanesco sauce with parmesan, what does that have to do with a roast dinner? Dry pork and soggy crackling and 2 very bland Yorkshire puddings. All priced at nearly 25 pounds and over 30 because of the beer I had. Its a great pub to drink in but apparently not to eat food. As a chef these basic fundamentals of cooking don't seem to be met and for that reason it is ridiculously overpriced and i wouldnt think about coming back again for food. Honestly a shame that i have wasted so much money on what couldve been good food

I've been to this place so many times that I've totally lost count! First time was in 1978 (!) when a friend went to Camberwell Art School (as we used to call it), when there was literally nowhere else to go in the area. It has been many things since then (including a heady period in 90s when they did 241 pizza every Tuesday when everyone who was anyone came out to dance on the bar, literally!) and although I can't say it's current incarnation is my favourite, it beats the last "tart's boudoir" set up! A lovely building with quiet, sunny outside space is hard to beat. Reasonable selection of beers and wines, friendly staff, haven't checked out the food recently.... UPDATE…. Since Parched London took over (after my last review), they’ve smashed it here! Always busy, great friendly staff and a buzzing atmosphere. The food is kind of wrap based but quirky and tasty and the Sunday roasts look great. Hopefully this version of the Grove will run and run.

Went for Sunday Roast based on recommendation. Very overpriced for what you get. I paid £18 and received one (!) slice of Pork (I even asked the server if that was correct as it looked so measly), 3 bland potatoes, 2 pieces of undercooked broccoli, 2 small very undercooked carrots (knife couldn't even cut into them they were so hard), yorkshire pudding and some spring greens. The plate itself is very small so you can't fit much on. To be fair, the pork, gravy and yorkshire was delicious, just nowhere near enough of it considering I'm paying £18. Did get the cheesy leeks as a side which were fantastic, but again at £7 was overpriced. Decent atmosphere and friendly staff. But wouldn't run back.

I came to Grove House Tavern because one of my friend recommended that place. Maybe is a new chef and staff or something but I’m a little bit disappointed. Service was bad and none existent and food was average… I finished my meal because I was hungry. Anyway portion of beef was small. I get two pieces of potatoes which ones are been probably just peeled and straight away put in over. We ordered 2 bloody mary… also I think that was just Tabasco, tomato juice and vodka - no garnish, no spices just plane.

Re-posting a review of Mondo Sando _Don't know what happened today but I'm assuming big problems with staffing. Went to grove house tavern for roast today for 3pm. Our group looked at the menu and considered our choices for a while - then went for a mix of pork and beef orders, then when we went to order - only beef left. Ok fine - we'll all have that. After ordering (and already paying!) They said no yorkshires and we asked for some stuffing as a sub. Then they came over and said no leeks and we asked for bonus roasties for a sub. When food came the roasties were really grim - cold and rock solid on the outside - as if they were cooked at noon and left on the side. The beef though was incredible - normally avoid beef at a roast scared of it being dry , but really very nice. On the subs - as mentioned before bonus roasties was not a blessing. On the stuffing , in place of a yorkshire per person we were presented with 5 tiny balls of stuffing , less than one per person , and not really an adequate replacement. We had room for desserts and went to order - and then surprise surprise - no desserts , sold out. Not related to Mondo , but grove house service wasn't great , lots of confusion between staff and lack of understanding our frustrations_

Just being clear I am not judging the food quality but the pricing and discounts offered. I received earlier in the year a letter with a voucher for a 25% discount, stating in the first T&C it was valid for an "order to be placed via phone or online". The online method has no place to type the code, so I called. The man on the phone said the online prices already had "the discount", so told me to order there. I was suspicious, so I said I would order then online and went to check. For instance, for the tandoori king prawn: Printed menu: £18.25 Online menu: £16.60 That is approx. a 12.3% discount, about half of the 25% discount they claim in the voucher which would mean a £13.7-ish price point. While errors may happen and I am aware of the low profit margins in the food industry, this feels quite misleading; I have included pictures in my review for reference. I would urge the owners to be honest in the discounts they are able to offer, and that they are more transparent in that regard.

A lovely place tucked away a short trip away from London Bridge station. We went for brunch, I had the full English and my friend had the pulled pork. The food was very tasty, my slight criticism on the full English would be the choice of bacon which was crispy rashers more suitable for the American pancakes. Big positives was proper maple syrup and the egg was magnificent. Definitely worth while stopping by if you are after a place to eat.

We stumbled upon this hidden gem of a bar while searching for a great whiskey selection—and it did not disappoint. The range of whiskies was impressive, and the barman was not only knowledgeable but also incredibly friendly, making us feel right at home. The atmosphere was relaxed and intimate, perfect for a night out with friends. A fantastic find—we’re glad we came across it and will definitely be back!
