Fantastic food and service in an amazing location Souffle to die for 💕

Fantastic atmosphere. A lovely family run restaurant that we will definitely be going back to as we had such a delightful time. The appetisers, drinks, starters, main and the bread were delicious and presented with so much care. The venue was cosy and comfortable and you are made to feel very welcome.

Once again the whole event was handled with impeccable professionalism. The quality of the food and the standard of the service made it an evening to enjoy. Not our first visit and definitely not our last. Well done Vicki and team,,

Once again Vicki and her team served our family of ten with an exceptional lunch. It was encouraging to see the restaurant full and buzzing. The food was absolutely delicious and Vicki's team were extremely pleasant and courteous as always. A big thank you to the whole team at the Grouse and Claret and a big recommendation from all of us.

We were fortunate to have a table for this sold out celebration. We had a fabulous banquet presented in three waves plus dessert, jasmine tea and a wee limoncello - before all that was a lovely, refreshing lychee martini. We enjoyed a fantastic arrray of sharing dishes: crispy seabass, spare ribs, smoked bean curd & tofu ; then duck pancakes; then chicken & cashew, slow braised beef, sweet & sour courgette, greens & basmati rice. Pause for a while, then coconut rice pud with chiili pineapple. Wow - a fantastic selection of flavours and textures. Another great night from Daniel in the kitchen, the team looking after us and, of course, Vicki & David.

I don’t normally write reviews.. Friendly and welcoming staff. The service was excellent and the food was memorable. All in all a perfect evening.

Had a birthday lunch in December. Food was really good. It was a set menu and we were asked to decide beforehand. I had a turkey dinner and it was very nice. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food and the portion sizes were on the large side. Service was good. Available but not too in your face. I knocked one star off for atmosphere because I felt like it could do with some music. It was a bit "sterile" until other tables started to fill up. But it's a really minor point. A restaurant should be judged mainly on its food and service and both were excellent. Not that price should be a factor either but I felt it was very reasonable for the quality. For 10 of us it was £400 with a couple of beers and bottles of wine etc (also included service charge)

Such helpful and accommodating staff and a simply delicious meal too. Two of us are coeliac and that was not at all an issue. In fact, the GF bread we had was some of the best I’ve ever had. My gluten eating husband was even a bit jealous! Would highly recommend 😊

This was our first visit to this restaurant. It was recommended by friends as somewhere worth a visit and so we met them there for a meal. The food was excellent - it’s a short menu but between the 4 of us we had a variety of meals and everything was excellent. They clearly use local high quality ingredients and it was all really well prepared and good healthy portions. I had the pate and it was truly excellent and the side salad of pea shoots was exceptional. I am not a real ‘foodie’ as such but this was a real treat. The duck was very good and others had the steak and fish and we were all impressed. We had a very good night and enjoyed the rustic location and good service with a bit of personality as the staff engaged. I had read the reviews before going and would agree the road is bit bumpy on the way in - but it is a rural location and you’ll want to stick to the suggested 10mph. It was a winter’s night so can’t comment really on the location or views once you get to the restaurant but the food is excellent and we’ll find that out when we visit again in a different season or for lunch. The food here is worth the trip and we will be back.

Absolutely excellent food and service, very attentive staff and while a wee wait for food which was to be expected everything was excellent as were the prices. If had to pick a tiny fault though, would have been helpful to have the ability to get a large pepper twister for our steak even though lovely ground salt and pepper was already on the table. The lovely lady who came round and chatted to all tables at the end of he evening was a nice caring touch and both new and repeat diners were greeted warmly

Had lunch today at one of our favourite haunts in Kinross. Vicki and her team could not have made us more welcomed and we had an absolutely superb time. On this occasion, I had the seabass with a sauce, whose flavours absolutely exploded on my tastebuds. 5 star service, five star food And would highly recommend this if you’re even remotely in the area

Had a delicious birthday meal with my grandad the staff were superb and very knowledgeable in the menu and what they sold. We both had the soufflé for starter which was the first time I've had soufflé and was recommended it by the owner herself as said you have to try ours It's the best and right she was so soft and fresh and an excellent recommendation. For main i had the trout with veg and potatoes. The fish was very fresh and fell off the skin and all the vegetables were cooked to perfection with the potatoes complementing the fish incredibly well. For my pudding i got a strawberry and cream bread and butter pudding Which could only be described as out of this world and rounded off an excellent meal. I hope to come back sometime in the future for a special occasion like this and enjoy some of the excellent food on offer by the restaurant thank you for the hospitality you gave me and my grandad we will remember it for the rest of our lives.

The Mexican night was fantastic from start to finish. From the delicious margaritas a Mexican shots to the wonderful selection of starters. Including tortillas with extensive accompaniments, chicken wings, pulled pork to the vegetarian cauliflower wings and pulled jackfruit everyone was catered for. This continued with the delicious mains with the twice cooked fish a revaluation in the best way! Churros to finish were squeezed in at the end of the night. Group of us (14) had a wonderful meal on Friday 12th May. For most (including myself) this was our first time at the G&C. Unanimously we all thought the food and service were impeccable. The professionalism from everyone was an absolute joy. We will be going back again soon.

Visited with friends and had looked forward to the visit for a few weeks This place comes with warnings: Your risking the suspension on your car driving in. Potholes and un-made road. Food is not as described. Menu great, reality disappointing. Starter: Pate -Came with 3 slices of brioche, small amount of salad leaves and no Piccalilli as described. I asked about it and was told there was none. Hence bland! Main: Roast beef - very fatty, Veg either underdone or overdone. Roast Potatoes unable to cut with fork, Yorkshire Pudding very stodgy. No Jus but suspect instant gravy. Desert: Eton Mess - strangely included raspberries.

Sunday lunch. The service was excellent, from entry the staff were very polite and professional. The menu was small but perfectly adequate, 2 or 3 course set price menu. The food was delicious, the view from window was beautiful, the atmosphere was perfect for unwinding on a Sunday afternoon, excellent location. Tea and coffee was lovely too. You can tell they are using home grown produce, it’s in the taste And once more, let me mention that the staff were brilliant. It’s a hidden gem, once found will never be forgotten, so please book in advance

We held my daughter's baby shower at this beautiful venue. The welcome we received by all the staff was heartwarming. The food was delicious. The service was so quick and the staff were so efficient and friendly. They helped make our celebrations extra special. I would very highly recommend.

Been several times and the standard is maintained, which in itself is an achievements Front of house team are well trained and unobtrusive, congratulations to Vicky (the Boss) - very good menu , using local produce. Nothing is rushed, so take your time and relax.. Lunch or Dinner, your in for a treat!

We pick this restaurant as it was a convenient location around halfway between us and our friends. It turned out to be great choice as we had a superb meal.

My wife and daughter went to the Grouse and Claret for the first time. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, the staff were amazing as was the food. There was a well designed menu, offering a range to suit many tastes, including vegetarian for my wife; some staples for me; and a variety of choices for our daughters adventurous tastes. All too often, you might look be at a menu and struggle to find the one choice that might appeal. Last night at the Grouse and Claret, all three of us struggled to make a final choice from the mouthwatering choices on offer. We have lived in this area for many years, and regret that we didn’t experience the Grouse and Claret before now. It may have been our first time, but it certainly won’t be our last.

We were lucky enough to have booked a table for the tapas night with Masterchef's Jilly McCord at the helm in the kitchen. A fabulous, and seemingly endless, array of authentic tapas dishes (and paired wines) arrived at our table - all excellent ! When's the next one:? Sign us up !

I booked here for a wedding anniversary meal for the Sunday afternoon. We arrived and a polite waitress ushered us to our table, when we got there there was a lovely touch as Vicki had scattered small love hearts on the table for us . When I booked by phone she had asked if it was a special event, I had forgot she had asked . I had the Cullen Skink for a starter ,it was to die for . The main course was amazing it was the spicy prawns . Wow wow wow . I could not fault the service, and in my honest opinion I could not fault the food because you can't better excellence. It has a rustic quaint interior but don't let that distract you from the amazing food on offer . I would like to thank the staff and the owners for making our meal even more special and memorable. We will be back soon x

Superb food, extremely friendly and welcoming owner and staff. We dropped in for dinner on the way north and such was our treat that we shall make a habit of this in future. The young waiting staff deserve a special mention for attentiveness and attention to detail. 👍

Excellent food and service in a beautiful setting. Even the rain showers couldn't detract!

This is an Experience, front of house service friendly but excellent, the food is full on flavour, good portions size (for 3 courses). The taster freebie caramilised onion dip and tapenade also parma and mozerella rolls with little toast bits amazing flavour (finished both). The sweets were full on flavour can still taste the caramel sauce. Water on the table contained fresh mint, lemon and apple slices nice touch. Main courses Lamb (med\rare) full flavour gravy mixed veg and potato, had the chicken with garlic/mushroom sauce the vegetables were perfect al dente. Sat outside hot sunny day looking onto a small fishing pool before meal had a Pimms (containing strawberry, rasberry and mint) enjoyed, white wine was good. Want a great dining experience this is the place. Highly recommend.

The Grouse and Claret is a hidden gem. At the end of a leafy lane, the restaurant has extensive views over the fishing lochs and surrounding countryside. Its a beautiful peaceful setting and from the moment you walk through the door, there’s a warm embrace of welcome professionalism. Service is impeccable and the food delicious. Our Sunday lunch birthday celebration was very very special indeed. The menu has a good choice of local produce with imaginative twists and caters well for all diets and requests. The roast beef was rosy and melt in the mouth with a plateful of fresh tasty veg, crisp roasties with fluffy centres and delicious yorkies accompanying! The risotto, which I wish I’d tasted, looked deliciously creamy and well cooked and was reported full of flavour. Vicki’s famous cheese soufflés are an absolute treat. Dreamily light but also rich with cream and cheese. Very decadent. There’s a great wine list, obviously carefully chosen to pair with the menu offerings and a great selection of by the glass or carafe. We didn’t have room for dessert but there was a good selection and all looked very tempting (next time!). We finished our superb meal with coffee and little squares of the best fudge ever!! Exceptional value, fantastic food, impeccable service. I had a very memorable birthday lunch. Thank you team G&C! Highly recommended.

I booked my mother-in-law 's 90th Birthday party here - 15 guests plus young dog. We were so blessed by being seated in the gallery where it is easy to come & go in to the garden. Such stunning scenery and great for photos. We booked for a group of 10 people for Easter Sunday lunch. Vicki was fabulous to liaise with before had and in person she was the most wonderful host. The food was out of this world. We had a 3 course meal and everyone said how great it was. All home made good wholesome food. The restaurant has a lovely feel about it and although busy the layout is designed so that you are not near many diners. Vicki made us feel really welcome! Really lovely food, and amazingly friendly and kind owner and staff. Due to car trouble we arrived well over an hour late to meet family for a meal. The staff were so welcoming when we arrived even though we were so late and very quickly gave us both a bowl of soup to warm us up. As we had arrived so late we weren't able to order any main courses as the main chef was no longer on shift (we had been told this prior to arriving and we totally understood) but we ordered several tasty starters which were brought out to us nice and prompt. Much to our surprise the owner then followed these up with a full roast pork dinner for us both which she had put together four us despite the kitchen not being open for main courses. The pork was delicious and we were so grateful for the kindness and thoughtfulness, and to top it all off they didn't even charge us for the main courses they had brought us! We had lots of fun chatting with the owner and the staff, and we really enjoyed the complimentary home-made limoncello :) Overall a really great experience and we'll definitely be back. Many thanks to the owner and staff for looking after us so well.

One of the best dinners I've had!! The staff were so lovely and attentive. We sat outside for a drink (and super tasty complimentary dips and bread which we weren't expecting) before dinner and the scenery over the loch was just gorgeous! When we got sat at our table the staff had decorated it as it was my birthday. Such a thoughtful touch! The steak and Thai duck curry were both so tender and delicious. The desserts were stunning too. Genuinely could not fault it! Please remember to bring cash to tip the lovely staff as they cannot take tips by card!

9 of us went for my dad's 80th. It was a really wonderful experience. We are used to fine dining in cities and this easily matched them for quality and service. The staff were really attentive and amazing with our young boys. They were full of empathy and knew what we needed before we asked. The food was excellent and there was a good variety as well as perfect kids choices. We all agreed that this is definitely our new family favourite!

We have been coming here for years and loved it ....however ,something has changed in the kitchen I feel . The old tried and tested souffles are good but all the rest has gone downhill I'm afraid .. Christmas dinner was so disappointing last year...

Love, love, love! Wow, not much you can fault about this place. Was here a couple of weeks ago for my daughter's 2nd birthday with family. Such a cosy lovely little place in a stunning setting! The food is tip top, the cheese soufflé was delicious but the steak was the softest melt in your mouth piece of meat I've ever had! The real credit has to go to the staff though, every single one of them couldn't be more helpful or friendly. They pretty much looked after my little terror and played with her all night and let me eat my dinner, they were all amazing. At the beginning of the meal one of the owners came to see us and asked what kind of things my little one eats, she went away and came back with a little plate of things I suggested before anyone ordered as you can understand kids can get a little fed up waiting on food. I will definitely be returning and have recommended this little gem to everyone I know 😍

We thoroughly enjoyed lunch at The Grouse and Claret and highly recommended this restaurant. The food was delicious, the service impeccable but mot intrusive. We ate outdoors and thoroughly appreciated the lovely views and the calm atmosphere. My little granddaughter, who is only two, was welcomed by the staff who anticipated her every need. I was delighted when she was offered smaller portioned meals that were child friendly. It is not a cheap option for lunch but it is a little gem and well worth it.

Very disappointed to have to wait 1.5 hours before the starter arrived, waiting from 7.30pm until 9pm. Proprietor appeared after the starter had finally been served but made no attempt to apologise - very poor manners and may be par for the course to be treated this way. Lovely, friendly waiting staff deserve better from their manager. The quality of the food did not make up for the bad experience. Will not be back.

A delightful lunch at Grouse & Claret yet again, cheese souffle is a must! Roast beef cooked to perfection and coffee with home made fudge to finish lunch of nicely. Front of house service is excellent, friendly and professional, Vicki has such nice staff who look after you in every way possible . Always feel so relaxed while visiting the Grouse & Claret with the nice comfy sofas and chairs in the gallery and the stunning views looking onto the beautiful garden and ponds. First visit back to our regular haunt since all the Covid madness started. Front of house 'staff' (ie. Madam Vicky) was in top form, especially impressive given all the restrictions and measures that have been forced on the G&C and all other restaurants.Food well up to the standard that we have enjoyed over the last decade. Of most note was the changed layout ie. the relocated lounge area and re-arranged dining layout. In my opinion, the use of the large, airy Gallery as the pre/post meal lounge is a real move forward. The 'new' intimate dining area by the bar is excellent, with the main dining area remaining as welcoming as usual, albeit with the reduction in tables.The C&G has adapted well to the current situation and has emerged to remain one of the County's culinary assets. More regular visits planned now that we have seen how Vicky, David and Daniel have taken on the challenge of meeting the Covid restrictions.
