Grilla Allerton in Liverpool

First visit to this restaurant and it won't be my last. We'll worth a visit, food was fantastic.

Food was good and lsrge portions The prices were cheap to eat out

Gyros so salty couldn't eat, lamb chops dry and overcooked,chips were nice tho, won't be going back. Grills was. Really good this takeover not so much

Service here is very poor, waitress took our order and decided to bring the starter and mains together. After trying to tell her that we wanted the starter first before having our mains she started to argue that we'd ordered it all together so that's how she put it in. Funny that when we ordered she clearly stated starters and mains. After we finished the starter we eventually got our mains after a long wait. My partner ordered mash potato with her meal and got chips instead, my mum ordered grilled prawns which were over done. The waitress eventually came over to appologise after avoiding all contact with us. When she did she asked my partner if she wanted another drink but nobody else on the table. There was no attempt to rectify their mistake or even offer to reduce the bill. This is the second time we've been here after a nice time the first, there definitely wouldn't be a third visit.

Lovely little find, now called Souvla, the food and service were very good and authentic, felt I was in Greece. Very reasonably priced and i recommend the chicken gyros.

Had an enjoyable meal here. The kebabs are lovely.

The waitress was very polite and attentive and the decor was aesthetically pleasing… The food, however, was absolutely abysmal and my friend and I developed upset stomachs afterwards. The attached photo is the fried Mushrooms… I was shook when they were placed infront of me, I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. I thought mould was growing on them. I didn’t like to make a fuss so I ate a couple but on reflection I really should have sent them back… For the main I had the Chicken Gyro which had no flavour whatsoever and was very fatty/gristly whilst the chips were severely undercooked. This is the worst meal I’ve ever eaten in my life, and actually felt sick to my stomach. Extremely disappointed about visiting here and wouldn’t return or recommend.

I ordered from ubereats and it was quick and still warm. Cheese croquette was a bit too salty but I enjoyed mixed grill with fries and sauce.

Very nice reception, very attentive waiters at your disposal at any time, super tasty food, a very wonderful place, thank you for our anniversary dinner, you are wonderful, I recommend you try it!

Food was amazing, waitress explained the meals to us so we understood what we were ordering. The restaurant is really cute with fairy lights strung along the ceiling. Definitely recommend!

Used to really like this place when it was Grilla. However, now they seem to have resorted to filling the gyros with really poor quality chicken - tastes and feels like reconstituted bits of meat rather than actual pieces. It's definitely dumbed down to what it was. I don't think I'll be returning.

Ordered from this restaurant last Saturday and what a disaster! I got a chicken gyro and my partner got a mixed souvlaki. The meat was so undercooked, it was almost raw—a total health hazard. My chicken was almost a lump of fat and gristle; it didn’t even look like chicken. We couldn’t eat any of it without risking food poisoning. Seriously, how hard is it to cook meat properly? Super disappointed and annoyed. They really need to up their game or just stop serving food.

Worst customer service I’ve ever seen

Went for a family meal and I got the halloumi schnitzel and was very disappointed. I’m Cypriot so I was raised on halloumi and that was not it. It tasted more like the cheap grilling cheese imitation. I’d like to know what brand of “halloumi” you are using, because if you’re using the cheap grilling cheese and selling it at halloumi prices you’re just fooling people and being disrespectful to Cyprus. Used to be better when it was Grilla. Why did you rename it to “Souvla” but take the souvla off the menu.. EDIT: Almost 4 months later and no response from the restaurant regarding the "halloumi" brand they use. Hopefully this restaurant will not put off people from visiting Cyprus where you will find authentic dishes. EDIT: Finally a response, but still no name of the brand or supplier.. I have never had an issue with Cypriot halloumi bought from UK supermarkets so maybe it’s time to switch to a better supplier.

Had a lovely meal here of greek salad( me) and chicken gyros(hubby)and it was tasty and really good value! Staff were lovely too Highly recommended

Came for the Early Bird deal (2 courses for £12.50). The potions both for the starter and the main was sizable with the flavours to match. The young lady who served us was extremely polite. Nice little brownie on the house too!

Disappointed, very little chicken in the gyros, also a lot of the chicken was fat so couldn’t eat . I didn’t order chips but got chips with it and inside the gyros itself and although they were lovely chips felt there should have been more chicken and salad in gyros and felt like they put chips in as a cheap alternative. A real shame as I’d been looking forwards to going here for about 18 months. Won’t return.

When did this change hands? Had a takeaway tonight and honestly thought it would be the same quality and taste….the cheese croquets have more than halved in size for the same price and the garlic bread with cheese was disgusting. Soggy, cold and stuck together with that many dried cheap herbs you are left with a horrible taste. The cheese balls were cold and the veg underneath was far from fresh. We loved Grilla and regularly ate there, lovely fresh food….this place however is nothing short of disappointing and I won’t be ordering again, avoid at all costs

We got an Uber eats takeaway 3 drivers later our food arrived I’ve never been so disappointed with a take away it was awful the week before we had ordered from Jo’s in Walton which was superb, they couldn’t deliver so we chose grilla I got mixed souvlaki We also got a mixed grill for 1 And 2 other items Total bill £81.58 I’m sure you can trace my order from the amount The mixed souvlaki was like compressed mush on a stick, the chips were awful snd there was no fresh salad Cheese garlic bread not delivered paid and in the order Humous not delivered paid and on the order The mixed grilla for 1 was like a box of awful meats and most of it was left again no fresh salad No photos of the food as it looked awful I’ll never eat here again !! Awful

Lovely place, lovely atmosphere and the waitresses were polite and friendly. The portion sizes are very generous and the food is fresh. As we were leaving a large booking came in so the restaurant suddenly became very busy. Downside to this was that the waitress mixed up me and my friends order when boxing them up to take home, and I was given a pork gyro I couldn't eat because I'm vegetarian. Would have been 5 stars otherwise.

Food was lovely and service great, no complaints, grill for 2 was well more than enough so we’ve brought some home for sandwiches tomorrow!

Me and my partner LOVE this place!! We try to go once a week if we can. The food is absolutely delicious and great quality with amazing flavours and VERY generous portions. The service is brilliant too, the staff are so welcoming and helpful.

Fabulous food service and atmosphere

The food is awful because it smells like a mummy. The staff is irrelevant and rude to the job. Cleaning unacceptable for a business which is the main thing. I rate food with 2 out of 10 staff with 4 out of 10 cleanliness 2 out of 10. If ever something changes there we will definitely come back. At present I do not recommend it to anyone.

Amazing food however the order was completely messed up because of the terrible waitress and then had to wait and she was constantly asking us questions every 2 minutes however was very grateful for only paying half price

Always good experience with my meal from grilla so far only take away bit the restaurant looks nice also to sit and dine.

Worth a visit good food with friendly staff

This place started out great. Unfortunately the quality has been on a steady decline. I’ve been a regular customer for years but I’ve had enough after the last order. Here are the issues. The quality and consistency of the dishes varies wildly. Get a kebab one day it’s great; get it the next day and there’s bits missing. They consistently undercook chips. I genuinely don’t understand how because it’s simple part of food prep. The amount of orders were we’ve had to leave them is unacceptable. I ordered Thursday, they sent a kebab with no bread (see below) a small amount of chips that were undercooked and the kebabs were fairly gristly so I was constantly having to spit bits out. 12 quid for that. Raised it with Ubereats and got palmed off hence this post. Hopefully they take the feedback and improve.

Ordered from Uber eats, arrived with no salads or sauces with the meals, no pita bread, no halloumi fries arrived when ordered, one meal missing, rang up and they told me to come and pick it up.

Absolutely vile attitude from staff, “come and pick it up then”. Very easy for restaurants to blame Uber eats for their poor service. Portion sizes of what turned up was not even fit to feed a toddler. Only two meals arrived and a portion of soggy undercooked chips. Near enough everything we ordered didn’t arrive but says very clearly on the receipt the amount we did order. Either stupid staff and poor management or they genuinely just couldn’t be bothered. Not that hard, I worked in McDonald’s and you got better service there trust me. Not even an apology.

Just had food delivered… chips rubbery! Uncooked… really horrible. Mixed Grill … fatty meat, just disgusting. Souvlaki not nice too… all food in the bin and we’ve requested a refund. The worst takeaway we’ve had ever!! So disappointed as we’ve had really nice food from here a couple of times…. We won’t be going back.

Have to say the chicken gyro wasn't enjoyable at all! the chicken was slimey and brown, the chips were hard warmups and the sauce was watery so bread was wet! Was only the bread that was kinda ok! Very disappointed!

Real shame. Used to be good. Abundant grilled meat, free of pungent marinades and condiments. Now the portions are halved, the meat for some reason is all yellow, the mixed salad is just chopped cabbage, and the chips are flaccid, pale and undercooked.

Take away ordered for delivery. Received the food on time but quality was poor. Meat was tasteless and the chips also tasteless and very stale! Disappointed and will never use again!

Only upon arriving found out no drinking license so was byo. We were lucky enough for a shop selling alcohol nearby but did not appreciate being asked to pay corkage after returning with the alcohol. Service was nice though and manager waived charge as we had not been advised when booking the table of the drink situation.

Very nice. Food service and ambiance. Meat a little too over cooked for me. But visit again and ask for medium cooked cuts. Both menu and wine list very reasonably l priced. Definitely visit again

Very disappointing, ordered 2 gyros and they were covered in mayonnaise hardly any filling was soggy no flavour meat was fatty was cold and we got the wrong side!!

At 7pm on the 26th of May 2022 my son, who lives locally, and I visited Grilla, we have both been to the establishment before. We where told as we sat down that they had no liquor licence at that time as they had some problem! We both ordered chicken and 2 Cokes, the Coke was flat but compensated by a slice of lemon! I sat facing the kitchen where I observed during the duration of our stay staff removing or repairing a tall lardar fridge. Within 30 minutes of leaving the restaurant my son and I experienced SEVERE symptoms of food poisoning. When we rang to inform the restaurant the manager was unhelpful and said that "we must have had a bug" we had not seen each other for weeks. We told the manager about observing the fridge and she insisted that all the raw meat was kept at the right temperature. We insisted on a refund and refused the offer of free food, why would we risk being poisoned again?? When we returned to process the refund onto a credit card the manager was unapologetic and refused to take any responsibility on behalf of the business. She refunded the food but not the flat two Cokes. When we told her that we would be complaining to the city council health department she seemed surprised and said " you have your money back that should be the end of the matter" The restaurant was almost full at the time of our visit and I'm certain that it wasn't only us that day that had been effected.

10/10 all round We were greeted by a lovely member of staff who quickly showed us to our table . We got served drinks quickly and the food came quick also. Had beautiful halloumi fries which were to die for. Both mains were 10/10 All staff were so friendly and we even got a little dessert on the house which was a beautiful touch Will definitely be back x

Visited a couple of days ago and had a nice meal, the food and service was great. I ended up losing my wallet in the restaurant. I only found out when a member of staff knocked on my door to drop it off. Thanks a lot it was much appreciated

We have visited both Allerton Road and Leece Street branches recently. Tasty food and generous portions served by friendly staff and the Keo beer is always cold!

Rude people answering the phone after delivering the wrong food, tried to resolve the issue by getting another order sent out but they said it wasn't their fault but uber and when I mentioned that it was a dietary requirement and that the food in question cannot be eaten at all the woman on the phone abruptly put the phone down on me with no resolve and our meal completely ruined. I shall not be ordering again.

Booked a family meal of 11 for a birthday. Young waitress was lovely so polite nothing was too much trouble very attentive. Sat in the conservatory side with the roof open on a lovely sunny day which added to the atmosphere, felt like your on holiday. Food so fresh as always. The lamb was so tasty just fell off the bone. Kids meals were almost as big as the adults. All great portion sizes. Giros bursting and mixed grilla was full if meat, everything was lovely and so tasty would definitely recommend well worth the money.

Honestly wanted to try something new and I’ve never been so disappointed, the chips came hard, dry and spongey as if they’d been cooked and then tossed in the microwave, same with the bread, they packed it in a rush as half of the slices weren’t even cut. The meat is also supposed to be grilled but you can tell that it’s not, infact I think it’s even been boiled and then thrown in the microwave, the salad is also meant to be fresh as well but it came here soggy as if it’s been sitting out. Honestly really disappointed and it was a waste of my £25, I don’t see how you can charge restaurant prices when all the food was hard, stale and clearly microwaved, most definitely won’t be ordering again

I was the first customer of the day, and it was still very quiet. The staff was really attentive and friendly. I ordered Chicken Souvlaki, and it was beautifully done. However, the chips felt needed a bit of more cooking as they were a bit hard and pale. The sauce was great and the portion was generous too. As if it wasn't good enough already, I got some very rich brownies—on the house, and I wish I wasn't so full from eating the souvlaki.

The food was pretty good over all, the pork was very dry but the rest was great. The free slice of brownie at the end was reaaaaally good

Was really looking forward to this but a bit disappointed. The young girl serving us had no customer service skills at all. The beer was served in massive pint glasses that wouldn’t look out of place in the Rovers Return. Food was either served on an oven tray or in a basket (not great when you want vinegar on your chips). The chicken gyros was dry and uninteresting. The place looks lovely and the tzatziki was stunning but not enough to make me want to go back again

Great food we had the mixed grills for two with halloumi as a side and it was delicious really flavoursome meat with beautiful homemade chips and tasty gravy, Nice causal relaxed atmosphere in there with great service. Loved it and would recommend it

Have seen this many times advertised on Social Media and asked my other half to go, he's always said it was a bit out of the way so we never got to trying it until last week.. Oh my god it didn't disappoint!! The food...

The staff were lovely and the atmosphere nice. unfortunately the meat, whilst tender and nicely cooked was flavourless, no hint of any spices or herbs or marinade. My husband had the mixed grill and I had chicken souvlaki pitta. The bread had no flavour and was very spongy, I couldn't taste any tzatziki ( they kindly bought be some but it was just thick yoghurt and dried mint as far as I could tell). The wrap just had some raw red onion and tomatoes in it, very boring (I would have fresh herb/pickles/chilli etc in a kebab wrap). Last critique is that we got a small side salad but it was drowning in French dressing. Chips were nice though!!

As a Greek guy its easy for me to know what im getting but for a normal English person its a little confusing just think on the menu they should make it more clear what things are + you get free deserts at the end and one annoying things is you can catch the owner just staring at you its a bit weird

Very nice atmosphere, great service.. We had a chicken gyros and it wasn't bad but expected a bit more flavour but might be just my taste buds. Also I didn't like the chips in the gyros, would be happier with more tzatziki and veg instead. As side they were very nice tho. We might be back to try some of the mains.

Fabulous food, large portions and helpful staff.

Was recommended to go here by a neighbouring bar and it did not disappoint! Tasty, decent portion sizes and although two of our party vowed "not to be beaten" by the mixed grill... We were. So full! Staff were attentive and friendly. Will certainly be back with more friends and mixed grill attempts

One of the best restaurants I have been to in a very long, we had a shared meat meal ( lamb, pork, chicken) for 2 person including chips, salady stuff in a lovely dressing absolutely lovely, a couple of there own German beer (house beer), prices were proper good, service from staff excellent and they knew the menu, try a shot of there own ouzo, will be going again defo.

Everything about this restaurant was great. We have been upstairs and the place was so clean, smelled good never seen so clean toilets. Every single thing where up to the high standards. The staff was very nice. Our waiter was awesome, the staff also worked...

We Just had our baby girls Christening dinner Here😇. Food was incredible. We had a set menu. Amount of the food unreal and every single dish so so tasty .We will definitely recommend everyone to have their party there. All our guests loved the restaurant....

visited yesterday - in entering noticed the floor was filthy but thought it had been raining so maybe people had walked it in so we were shown were to sit and felt very uncomfortable - the whole floor around the seating area was filthy, not...
