Greenfields Restaurant in Luton

Tried this restaurant and the experience was not good! My americano has a taste of cheap coffee and my girl's latte was disgusting. The american breakfast was ok (avoid the baked beans!) For the price established, I was expecting more food quality. If you care about eating tasty food, I don't recommend this place.

I decided to come here for a lunch. The service was amazing and Shan who assisted did brilliant and made the experience positively. Food was amazing and customer service 10/10.

Always go to Greenfields,lovely food & friendly staff

I payed over £5 for a tuna sandwich that came cut up like a child’s packed lunch and stuffed with what looked like 5 tins of tuna with a sad little salad on the side, it was sloppy while the staff sat there stairing at the us the entire time, in all honest opinion what could be a cute little cafe is actually a kitchen nightmare would recommend they stop robbing the elderly of what little pension they get to feed the anemic food

The experience was pretty quick to be honest, my cooked breakfast came out suspiciously quickly. The beans were cold and the bacon could have been crispier. My partner ordered a tuna sandwich and there was more tuna than bread in most cases this wouldn’t be a problem but they cut it into 4 triangles like they are trying to feed a toddler. Sandwich also included a lovely garnish of lettuce cucumber and tomato, this should have been put into the sandwich. I also had a coffee and luckily that was okay. Mum used to bring me here when I was younger and I don’t believe it’s improved with age. They don’t even hide the use of the microwave and the prices are steep for the quality and service. Better off going to McDonald’s to be honest. Have a great day.

I’ve been coming to Greenfields for well over 20 years and it’s such a feel good place with yummy food, vintage decor and wonderful service. The menu is so varied that it’s perfect for breakfast/lunch/dinner, desserts and coffee or simply snacks. I’ve now moved abroad but my visits back home are incomplete without a trip to Greenfields!

Such a nice restaurant setting feels very British and cosy. But the food is not the best I also asked the waitress if the juice was freshly made and she said yes but it was clearly a ready made one. The staff and customers are not very diverse however, it does not feel very inclusive of non white people.

Memories as a kid did not change. Went in on a flying visit back to Luton. Restaurant is bright and clean. You find your seat and had a lovely waitress. We chose scampi chips and peas and omelette and a few drinks. Good didn’t take long, it looked lovely and large. The food was hot, it was around 12 and the waitress worked hard and fast. Prices are reasonable and you can pay by cash or card. Totally delightful experience

I cannot fault the the freshly cooked food Today 28th May ..I brought a friend from Italy ( ex-pat) shopping in Luton ..( I'm from Bedford) I said there's a little gem of a restaurant here I prefer too eat than any other place in Luton My friend was amazed of the amount of food..the service was awesome.. excellent waitress politeness.. hospitality 💯

Such a lot to say. Firstly I have rarely been to a place with such friendly and genuine staff, everybody was polite courteous helpful and had a smile. I haven't been here in quite some years as it's just a little traditional for my usual tastes, but there is so much that could be done with this restaurant it has some really interesting bones, it's style is in late 70s early 80s style, I think this is more about having never been updated. The restaurant has interesting sections and follys (like many restaurants of this era) and some interesting views over the shopping parade. With some ingenuity and creativity this could be transformed into a destination eatery it's huge with loads of space. I would love to get my hands on this from a design perspective! It could be so interesting, with it's desert section restaurant and it's garden section(signs exist but it's all just sit anywhere) the original iron chairs are in the back closed section which looks fantastic and again if utilised correctly looks so fun! Just imagine having a dessert section full of snacks (lots of people go out just for desserts...think classics but done really well!) Now onto the downsides...and the average bits... First the average bits, the food is average not offensive but nothing amazing. Portion sizes are decent and laid out with care. Food came out promptly again with a server who had a smile. It's just not top tier ingredients but it's not mega priced either so it's just okay. The bit that bothered me the most (as a bit of a clean freak) is just that... EVERYTHING needs a real deep clean... So many interesting things and great views but euch ... I wanted to wipe everywhere. The bonket seating needs reupholstering or at least shampooing as this would make it nicer. There is broken wood/plastic in the bay windows which just showed the lack of aesthetic care. And the floors were not filthy but could do with a deep clean to bring them back to former glory. The toilets were much the same not revolting but just a bit grimy a good deep clean on all the grout and some mould spray on the seals and the new doors were not sealed so have that oil hand mark area... Lastly lighting makes such a difference to transform a space. The old restaurant area was closed at the back which has all the old iron chairs(so fun looking) and the lights were turned off ... Above us in the garden area were flickering lights ... It's just the lack of care from an otherwise amazing team. Message directly for the owners, you have a great interesting space and it could be so kitsch and a real destination diner. Consider having a designer come in and do the place up. Keep the stained glass the iron chairs the sign and the oldies look ...get rid of the new style chairs and fix the lighting and add more mood lighting. Clean the bonket seating and have someone make you new menus the laminated ones look cheap...get a menu book and stick high grade paper ones in it. You can still print but change the specials quarterly and have a specials insert. Try Canva it's a free online tool for this sort of thing ! Don't try to copy the drab places that do a half arsed attempt at copying Starbucks or Costa we already have too many of them. Let me come back and update my review to a Wow this place is just stunning. Your team were amazing but you are missing some great tricks. Google the Florist restaurants but do this with a 70s/80s style. Once you have, go to town on advertising downstairs and on social media all the local forums for kuton! Maybe even try those old world uniforms with the frilly half aprons go for it it would be so fun ! Wishing you all the best.

We all got the same size and form of fish so obviously it cant be fresh also it was burnt on the outside and raw in the middle , the chips were typical cheap frozen ones, the peas were cold as they hadnt been warmed at all. And to crown it we expected a side of tartar sauce but it was in sachets along with the ketchup etc. On the menu would be more correct to write frozen fish and chips and peas straight from a can. The place could do with a deep clean the material seats were soiled and the wooden back rests are dusty.

Not too bad. A bit expensive but the restaurant itself is nice. Quick service and decent food. Never too busy and there's always a lot of room whether you want to have a quick breakfast or you're going out for a family meal

I came in here today…first and last time i will ever walk into this place. I went in and asked a member of staff if my two year old daughter could use their toilets she said we could, she then stopped me and asked if I was ordering food i told her i was just using the bathroom for my little girl and then the manager comes out and started to moan about it and told me “Shut up and use the toilet” never in my life have i been spoken to like that and it makes it even worse as i was with my daughter, the attitude on these staff members is insane, i don’t know how they are allowed to serve people with their manner, i tried to make a complaint and one of the workers told me to leave and that she’s calling the police. This place is shambles. Wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

Went to this shop today only to encounter the rudest staff would highly recommend staying away from this cafe not exactly clean you can go look yourself maybe try Robbie’s it is basically next door staff very friendly and the place is clean won’t have anyone telling you to shut up which I had today by the manager at this place very professional

Absolutely love this cafe. Been dropping in and out for years. Nice friendly staff. Always freshly cooked. 12 minutes from order to table. Nice original decor. A cafe that will make you feel comfortable amd relaxed. They don't make em like this anymore.

Great cafe food I had the late breakfast , good portions and with a pot of tea for under ten quid no complaints.

This has to be the most disgusting cafe I have ever been to - the tables were greasy and that alone should have been a warning - the girl who served me was ok to start off with when I placed my order of orange juice which was watery due to the amount of ice - tea was ok - eggs were terrible and cheap - bacon not too bad - sausages were, goodness knows what was in them ?? hash browns undercooked and toast, well lets just say hospital bread is better !! cheap disgusting products and not a nice eat at all- when I complained at frontdesk the girl who served me and still expected to pay 16.48 ???????????? and I told her I was not satisfied but still expected me to pay despite leaving my breakfast because it was literally rubbish - I paid like a fool and left but I do not recommened anyone go to this crook of a cafe because thats what they are - crooks - I may take this further because it was not clean either - the tables were dirty and greasy - disgusting

Visited for a hot chocolate with a friend and was stared at by staff throughout our visit - probably as we didn't order any food and our receipt was placed in front of us whilst we were still drinking! Price was expensive for the size of our cups.

Outdated and a big breakfast is not big if you only get 1 of everything. The service though was 1st class

Breakfast, bacon very salty, £11 for one Hash brown, one egg, half a tomato,two rashers of Bacon and baked beans and Tea. None of these items were good quality, disappointing 😞 place was clean and quiet though.

Visited this restaurant recently and on first hand can say it’s majorly gone down hill. Ordered a lamb mixed sheesh and got mushrooms, chips, salad, peas and chewy lamb. Menu states rice but no rice given. @ £14 for this is very overpriced compared to other restaurants in town. Generally was a good place to get food but don’t think we will be coming back. The boss is always friendly and acknowledging along with the young friendly waitresses. But the place was freezing and decor hasn’t changed in years! Very disappointed today

Been eating here on and off for over 20years , still getting served by the same waitress. If your looking for a cheap slap up meal this isn't the place for you, but if your looking for 100% quality food constantly every time, i strongly recommended it, it's worth paying that little bit more

I used to work here over 20 yrs ago and loved the experience. The man we called Boss was so kind and friendly to me at my interview that he offered me the job on the spot...I gained experience as well as friendship during my time there. I have not visited Luton since leaving but intend on a trip soon because I'd like to visit the place that made me welcome the most...that being Greenfields. I might not be remembered but I sure do remember them...an amazing family run business that I owe my gratitude to x

We had such a great experience at Greenfields Restaurant. Friendly, helpful staff and incredible food. A little bit of an expensive meal but worth every penny. Would highly recommend and would definitely go back.

I've always had a soft spot for Greenfields and have been going ever since being a child, especially with my family. Family restaurant describes Greenfields perfectly. It's got a good grill and things like burgers and fry ups are what I particularly enjoy there. A lot of people will criticize the list prices at Greenfields and it is indeed expensive, but I have always found the food to be hot, good quality and with good service. I am always happy to pay for Greenfields because it's a haven away from the hustle and bustle of the Arndale. It's upstairs and out of the way and a perfect place for people who need a break whilst shopping such as the elderly or people with anxiety that need a quiet place to sit and enjoy their food. They serve alcohol as well if it's a particularly stressful day, as well as ice cream if you have children. The decor is a little dated but I probably wouldn't go anymore if it changed, as it's the memories and frozen in time nature of this family friendly environment that holds most of it's appeal. It's nice to go to a restaurant where a waitress who has known you since you were in a pushchair serves you. McDonald's is cheaper by far, but to sit down and enjoy the food in front of you is why I will always pay the extra at Greenfields. They have won many awards from the Mall and rightly so as it's been there for so long. With the loss of Tim's kitchen in the market this is one of the last bastions of greasy spoon/casual and family dining inside the Mall Luton. Easily wheelchair and disabled access by the lift and also right next to the indoor disabled parking is very handy.

A great family restaurant! Delicious food, best customer service and good prices. They have the largest range of food available from burgers to lasagna to pancakes. Food tastes fresh and delicious. Would definitely recommend. A hidden gem.

Must say can see staff working very hard and very friendly.. Food came out separately which annoyed my children.. Things that staff can improve on is checking if the customers need anything else.. More attentive.. Overall food was great
