We’re not vegans, merely vegetarians! However it was a lovely surprise to stumble across this stall whilst on a walk around Durham. Whilst not hungry at the time, we bought some pastries and a scotch egg for later, purely because it was nice to see a trader specialising in meat free (or in this case vegan) products and not someone making a token effort. All of of our food tasted awesome and we’ll definitely make a point of visiting here to try something else the next time we are in Durham.

So we walked past this stall in Durham market square today and the food looked amazing, we were choosing which products to buy then realised it was all vegan ! Ah well , let’s give it a go we thought as it looks so delicious, so we bought 2 x sausages rolls, 2 x samosas, a scotch egg and 2 x chocolate cookies, well ... I’m converted, they were absolutely delicious and my husband agreed, id much rather eat a sausage roll without the thought of coming across some disgusting gristle, if all vegan food is this tasty I’ve definitely been missing out, I hope to see you again very soon.

Super place to buy some extra tasty food. Excellent selection of savoury and salads as well as loads of large cakes. The scotch egg is outstanding.

Everything here is vegan and everything looks great. But there is just too much for me to try everything, so you’ll have to find out for yourself. They make it themselves down in Darlington. The stall is open in the square in Durham at weekends (they also have a permanent place in the indoor market). Loads of choice- took me ages! Tried burger and fruit cake which were v good, and so generous that I can now barely walk (AND I shared the burger with a seagull). Good riddance to the days when we had to be grateful to patronising caterers, who with long suffering looks, demonstrated their broad-mindedness and tolerance by rustling us up some pasta with ketchup. Or an apple. They are absolutely terrified now. I hear they want to reclaim the word burger as they feel it’s misleading if they burger isn’t part of an animal (Really?!). Oh well. To be absolutely clear, and so you’re not disappointed, these “plant-based disks” are vegan, non animal, ethical.
