Great Wall in Gosport

Went for a meal Friday night 11th October, had a lovely table by the window , the service was excellent, Jess was very attentive. The food was amazing , good portions . Will definitely go back .

Service was quick and reliable. Friendly staff and helpful in menu choices. Reasonable prices, with no hidden extras. Have to go up a flight of stairs to get to restaurant from the street. Don’t think I saw a lift available.

Went for a meal out here with my partner and his grandma today. Really lovely place you can choose from all you can eat buffet where you order as you go and a menu. Prices are what to expect for a chines meal out. We went with the buffet option and there was sooo much to choose from. Portions are small (apart of the duck pancakes option that was huge) but that’s great because you can try more things and you can always order more of the same thing. Definitely can confirm we didn’t leave hungry and it’s a great option if you want to try a little bit of everything. 10/10 would recommend for a date night or a family day out.

Shame, this restaurant seems to of lost its way! Food okay Portions small for a example we ordered the garlic mushrooms and we were presented with a half of a mushroom!!! The Duck would be better served and shredded at the table, duck not very crispy or tasty. We ordered five rice and we got three small bowls. Noodles were good and plentiful. Service wise big shout to Jess who was attentive and very polite. We visit at least twice a year, a real shame. 😳

First time going there. Absolutely loved it. The food was cook beautifully and was hot.the service was excellent. And they did not rush you on ordering. The staff are very helpful if not sure what to have. Highly recommended.

Very attentive and friendly staff, lovely food! Kung paw prawns were a favourite, very tasty sauce. We did the £28.95 pp all you can eat, portion sizes were just right, not too much as I’m not a big eater, but can order extra if needed. Shame we don’t live nearby, we’re passing through for the Isle of Wight takeover, as would definitely become regulars! Probably the best Chinese we’ve ever had! Would 100% recommend to anyone

Great evening spent at the Great Wall. It was very busy but food came out hot and quickly. Staff were very polite and attentive. Big variety of food and lots of vegetarian options as well. We will be back.

I love the food at the Great Wall. I've eaten there multiple times over the years. The food is always great, the service is quick and courteous. This time, I was with a group of 40 people and they made serving us look effortless. Hats off to all the staff. Thank you.

Incredible restaurant we visited in August 2023. They catered for us as a last minute booking and even though we were late, the food, service and value was incredible. The food was all fresh, all you can eat, but ordered to your table so it was outstanding. I ordered duck for one - it was HUGE! My friend was allergic to diary and VIRGINIA our server was so attentive, she even checked the oil the food was fried in in case in upset my friend’s stomach. You HAVE to visit here - it is incredible!

A really good Chinese restaurant, great food with fantastic service, exceeded every expectation.

Fantastic location right on the front with lovely views of the Spinnaker and Gunwharf. Staff very welcoming and knowledgeable. The menu is an all you can eat buffet but presented in a unique way - you order dishes with portions based on the amount of people who wish to try and can only order again once everything has been finished to avoid waste. The portions are perfect and there are so many dishes to try - personal favourites include chicken and green pepper in a black bean, satay chicken and garlic mushrooms. Party of 6 tried a variety of different dishes and all went down a treat. Thoroughly recommend, will definitely be returning.

First place i ever dinned in when i came to Gosport, and still a great place to eat.

A good meal, the noodles were not very hot. Starters were good. Service was good. Was disappointed when I saw the food hygiene rating was a 1, that's really quite bad! I hope you are working hard to improve this.

Food was excellent and plenty of. Service was very good even though it was very busy. Portions may look small, but you are able to order as many times as you want. Great selection of starters and main courses, meat, poultry, and seafood. Just short of £20 per head, but if you have a good appetite, you'll get your money's worth. Look forward to our next visit.

Service is good. Buffet menu for a hefty £23.95 per person. By the time you have read the rules, your starving . Ordering starters first we were asked if the Chicken Sate` was for 6. We got one each. 1 sweet and sour chicken ball. 1 garlic mushroom cut in half. You get the idea. I ordered lemon chicken. Was shocked, when I complained, they bought me a fresh dish. Just 3 slices! 2 types of rose wine, £20 a bottle !! And one of those was Mateus Rose ! Decor in the restaurant hasn't changed for 30 years, same pictures, same wood paneling and same steamed up window, so it's impossible to see the view. Not value for money , won't go again.

I doubt the food will win awards, i say this with love. But it was awesome, hot and flavourful. The service is amazing. Everyone with a smile on their face and wanting to please at every turn. Some may say its expensive, just over 20 quid at the weekend for an adult "all you can eat", 100% worth it.

Have heard fantastic things about this place for years, and so finally decided to take then plunge. The first thing you notice is the decor. Its authentic, but VERY dated and looks alot like it hasn't changed much since the 80s. Also, there was a certain grubbiness to the place, that should have sent alarm bells ringing. That said, you can't judge a book by its cover. The view is spectacular and the prices for the 'all you can eat' not unreasonable. Unfortunately the view was the highlight of the experience. A lukewarm beer accompanied the mix selection of starters we ordered and all of it was underwhelming and to be honest more befitting of a low standard takeaway delivery. We persevered and if this had been a traditional style restaurant meal (not an all you can eat for £18) I'd have complained. Dishes were either bland, overcooked, borderline undercooked or and I'll be frank, just poor quality. We left within 45minutes and were then the suffers of bad stomach and diarrhoea after which lasted most of the night. We are no strangers to Indian, Thai, Chinese cuisine so it was Definately not a case of weak stomach. I/we won't be returning!

Most people ordered the all you can eat, but we picked a la carte. Recommend booking ahead.

Tasty, all dishes are straight out from the kitchen rather than laid out as a buffet. Visited with a group of us it and was nice to be able to try a few different starters and mains from the buffet list and share. Service was fast and friendly. Definitely recommend booking as gets very busy. Pretty view of the spinnaker tower from most of the tables. I'd say the only thing would be that it could have a makeover to improve it.

Fantastic. Great restaurant space with panoramic window. Lovely staff. Above all, terrific food at great price. Knocks spots off much pricier Mr Man's in Nottingham.

So poor compared with three years ago…mediocre at best…very sad as it used to be one of our top favourite places.

Very poor food, customer service none existent. Dropped a bowl of food onto my dinner then used his hands to take it out and didn’t replace my food. Felt like they wanted us to eat as little as possible and leave very quickly. Young lad got aggressive when I told him we weren’t happy. NEVER GOING BACK !!

As good as ever....10 years and never disappoints. Update: post covid and still sharp! Price has gone up a little, but worth it. The menu is now under the glass table top which is just brilliant. Very popular so book up in advance and that may mean leaving your details on the answer machine but they do return the call.

Good, tasty food, served quickly and cheerfully. As much as you can (or dare!) eat in portions that allow you to explore different dishes.

I was surprised by my partner when we had dinner here at Great Wall. Being asian, I can attest that this is an awesome Chinese restaurant. I love buffets and so its an all you can eat. We mainly had most of the starters which were all so lovely. My favorite is the salt and chili pork ribs. Very tasty fall of the bone goodness. I also love the crispy seaweed and I know I can add it onto anything and it would taste good. The texture and the umami flavor was amazing. I had the duck wraps. The hoisin and the vegetables played a great role blending with the duck which made the wrap very succulent. This restaurant has a very lovely view of portsmouth harbour and the owners and servers were very attentive and very prompt. They take cards and cashm. They have a loo. If you can make reservations but we managed to be the second group to go in as we did a walk in as soon as it opened and not too bad for a weekday. Food 5/5 Price 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Service 5/5

Nice little hidden away gem. Right opposite ferry to portsmouth. Great food. Good price.. staff very attentive. Drinks a little expensive but food will make up for it.

Absolutely amazing, was here celebrating my birthday. Food was delicious and plentiful, it was all you can eat and they come to you, so no need to queue up buffet style and it was brought to your table piping hot. Definitely would recommend 100%

Used to use this Chinese a lot years ago. Went there this week...and ohhhhh dear.. won't be going back. Clearly over the lockdown period the owners didn't use their time to deep clean etc like most places did ! Place was minging. Service was very poor & also very rushed and food was awful. The only thing that was nice was the crispy duck. Such a shame as this place used to be lovely. We certainly will not go back there! 😒

The food was absolutely delicious and the view is so gorgeous from the restaurant. One of my family members accidentally injured herself and the staff were absolutely incredible, so friendly and helpful. Extremely understanding, really appreciated their help.
