We had a family and friends dinner here on Monday 21 October to celebrate my granddaughters and my nieces birthdays. The food and service was excellent. I for one will certainly be returning.

We ate here on an offer night off season, where the mains were £8, kid's mains were £1 and desserts were £4.95. We had gammon and beef pie, game pie, which came with chewy kale, kid's sausage and kid's ham and egg. All came with nice sauteed potatoes. For pudding we had chocolate caramel cake, black forest roulade and kid's brownies. The mains were all good. The desserts were good apart from the cake which tasted like chocolate flavoured cake. It was really good value and friendly service. We'll be back.

Booked for a carvery. We was shown to our table straight away. We was told there was a wait for the carvery. But we waited ages just to order. We got annoyed when people came in after us got to order and get their carvery before us. We even thought of walking out and going somewhere else. The waitress said oh had no one took your order. Well obviously thats why we are sitting here with no food. When we eventually ordered and got to get our carvery it was nice enough. The beef was undercooked and fatty but some people apparently like it like that. The cost of the cavery was reasonable. The drinks were expensive. The road to and from there were bad filled of potholes we are lucky they didn't damage the car. Staff obviously favoured the regulars and customers who were staying there as we received no customer service. Wouldn't return or recommend the place to be honest.

A great combination of good service, enthusiastic staff, great location, unpretentious, and importantly excellent food! We had the carvery which was amongst the best I've had with desserts to die for. Had to have a nap. The price was sensible and no attempts to engineer tips. There is a garden and pond to sit by with peacocks roaming around. All the signs point to the manor hotel but this is the same as the restaurant so don't get confused like me.....

We were staying in the lodges and ate at the restaurant on our first night. The welcome was friendly and we sat by the fire with drinks. We ordered and were shown to our table when our food was ready. My husband had the hot lava stone with some interesting meats including zebra and kangaroo! I had a beef sirloin and it was cooked perfectly. I’m gluten free so had boiled new potatoes instead of chips which would be cooked in the same fryer as breaded foods. They were proper new potatoes and excellent. A glass of Malbec accompanied the meal and it was perfect. Can’t fault anything g. Very very good.

I have stayed at the hotel a number of times and have never written a review. Sometimes it’s easy not to but a chore to do so. My meal tonight in the restaurant reminded me of the effort that goes unnoticed in the kitchen and guests take for granted. I am rarely disappointed but tonights goulash was exceptional. 3 of our party of 4 decided to try and we were all delighted with its authenticity. Prices are competitive and staff are welcoming. I recommend you give it a try.

We booked for a large family get together. Large groups are difficult to cater for but they did great! Going for our Xmas meet up it was magical to arrive to laser lit trees and Xmas music. A roaring open fire was blazing on entrance. Some of our party were very late, but the staff were very obliging and gave us toasty warm bread while we waited. We preordered our food and so arrived together piping hot. Food was delicious and good selection of puddings. Great experience and we'll be back again. Thanks to all the staff who were great.

Went there for the first time tonight for the early bird meal. I was Immediately hit by the stunning grounds decorated for Christmas with a beautiful light show! the restaurant was a warm comfortable place with a lovely atmosphere, The staff were bright and cheerful and couldn’t have been more helpful. They genuinely seemed to love their jobs. Well the food! It was delicious and so reasonably priced. There was no skimping on the portions and looking around the restaurant I noticed all the plates went back clean! It was also good to see the owner present at the bar. Would have no hesitation to go again and recommend to anyone who will listen!

While visiting nearby family we came here for their Thursday deal of two courses for £9.95 . At the time kids ate free ( though I understand it’s now kids eat for £1) . Still an insanely good deal ! There were plenty of options, the portion sizes for adults and kids were generous , for the price it was very good quality and certainly a great option for family’s to eat out on a budget . I’ve got to say the apple and berry crumble was amazing and finished off with a big blob of clotted cream . Made my day . The waiting staff were very friendly and genuine, we felt very looked after .

Literally a 5-minute drive from our home and buried in a lovely countryside setting with good views and vast gardens to explore. Also, many, and I mean, many, Peacocks, and peahens quietly wandering around on the raised lawns adjacent to the Hotel. I had the steak pie with mixed veg, and my wife had crab with salad. Our friends had Duck leg and veg, and Pork loin with veg. Three out of four plates were emptied and my wife enjoyed her crab but could not finish the salad. She has a small appetite lately. Although they have a good selection of desserts we had no room. There is crab cake on the starter list and in future if they are on the menu my wife would choose a starter and a dessert. We hope to visit soon for their Sunday Carvery which I believe is £10 per head. We had one previously and were very impressed. They are popular and booking is strongly advised.

Staying nearby we wanted somewhere half decent and out of a choice of 3 my wife chose here. Although 8pm and pitch black, we found it with ease. The staff were very welcoming and put us at ease and were thorough throughout. The ambience of the place is nice and countryfied, with big fireplaces lit. It did get a little smokey but it soon cleared. Bar was well stocked with a great choice of branded gins, beers and ciders. The food was wholesome and filling. They have a good chef and the quality was certainly there. The haloumi with dips were tasty and the sweet and sour dip had a lovely chilly tang to it. The braised steak pie was to die for with my wife having the pepper encroute which was a bit rich for her palate. Puds selection was great and the sticky toffee pudding was huge but very light and tantalisingly good with custard. Would certainly return.

We made a booking for ourselves with our dog and visited the hotel to watch the football and eat some food. The crab and prawn cocktail was overpriced and swimming in water. The goats cheese starter was also overpriced. The menu wasn’t inclusive for dietary choices or restrictions. All of the staff apart from one seemed lovely and welcoming. Unfortunately that one was one of the OWNERS, who sat unsmiling glaring at us and the family next to us every time their baby made a sound, or we moved or we spoke to our dog, making us feel a complete inconvenience and unwelcome, despite both of us booking due to COVID standards and advising there was a dog with us. Ultimately it was very deeply uncomfortable, not worth £41.00 for two starters, some sides and a couple of draft Pepsi. And as a woman being watched every time I moved or went to the toilet felt completely degrading and perverted. Especially when he then sat with us uninvited whilst inebriated.

We arrived 4pm & stayed in room 11. We booked & pre-paid for 3 nights, but due to noise from next door (we could hear their bath being filled, the actual movements in their bath, every step they made in the room, & their conversations), no hot water on arrival and the poor meals in the restaurant, we decided to cut our losses & check out after the first night.

So pleased places are open again - love going to Trethew Manor (can't wait for Sunday lunches to re-start!). Today we had a 2-course lunch - which turned into a 3 course for 2 of our party! Cannot fault the food - everywhere was sanitised - tables spaced apart, separate in & out etc so safety a prime concern. Lovely meal & can't wait to go back.

Just back from a lovely lunch at Great Trethew Manor Country Hotel. It was great value, well cooked and the staff were very friendly and efficient. We went to try the newly opened restaurant Sunday carvery. Food was good, but ambiance was lacking, very bare, would be better with curtains, pictures and a double door into the bar as the restaurant where we sat was rather draughty. Will go again in a few months when hopefully it will be a bit cosier

Stayed for two nights and from arriving to leaving the family of staff could not do any more to ensure we had a great stay. Our room was a good size with lovely furnishings. The food was excellent, we enjoyed every meal. Good location and had some nice walks from the hotel and a short drive to the coast for the afternoon. Finished our day with a nice glass of wine sat by the open fireplace. The hotel also has stables where you can arrange to go horse riding. There are also peacocks roaming around the hotel grounds. Hope to visit again for a longer stay.

We came here about 6 and 7 years ago. About two or three years ago we saw on TV and in th3 press that there had been a very big fire here. Since then we have not thought to go back. We have not seen any marketing. Last week we thought it might be worth a go. But the websites (apart from a riding business) all seem to have closed down and hotel booking sites have either frozen the entries or show no rooms. We have asked about and all replies indicate that the restaurant has not been restored and is not trading.

The lovely gent who served us got his wife Zara to help us with locating the keys which luckily where found and left at the RLNI across but was closed, she managed to find someone who got the keys So thank you so much for your help lovely people and for the ice creams! 🥰 wishing you all the best x

The service is absolutely flawless, all the staff are exceptional and extremely welcoming, especially the manager. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a perfect meal out.

I will start by saying the restaurant did reduce our bill and throw in a few free extras but we were very surprised by the quality and portioning of the food. At the time the cafe was very quiet but the staff seemed a little bit chaotic. Orders not being put through properly, items missed off and not knowing what beer they had available. A couple of us ordered the chicken burger (£13) and my son had the kids version (£8.50) but his came with chips. I was pretty shocked when we both received exactly the same sized portion. A small bun, 1/2 a small chicken fillet and one piece of lettuce, not exactly worth £13. The staff did even comment that they there was an issue but still felt it was fine to serve and just expect people to pay. The pizzas were but ok but again surprised when we we charged £3 for 2-3 sliced olives as an extra. We've eaten at many other places up and down the coast and based on our experience we would not return.
