We stopped here for a bit of tapas and a bottle of wine before making our way to the hotel and it was fab. The staff were friendly, the food was delicious and was served super quick and the wine was great. Yes a little pricey but we’re northerners, so didn’t expect anything less! Great little spot and would return.

Two glasses of wine at £11 a glass. Ordered a sandwich each and had to chase it up after 45mins. When they came they were cold and dry and tasteless. No apology, just “the chef popped out”. Where did he “pop”? We decided that he’d gone on a package holiday. We won’t come back but that’s how they get their business, no return trade because the place is full of tourists. Do not visit!

Booked a table in the downstairs restaurant for a business dinner due to the fact that it has previously been a quiet restaurant environment. A party of 20 people were shown into the 'supposed restaurant' just for drinks, no food. Three tables were pushed together and amid the photo taking and drinking the noise levels became very high. We quickly finished our food and moved upstairs where it was quieter. I complained to the manager on the night who was not interested and did not make any apology.

This was a great venue to visit for lunch. The service was a little slow, but the food was very good. Two of use has the specials - both pies - and we were delighted. One was the Steak and Kidney pie which was rich and had plenty of both steak and kidney! The other was the Butternut Squash and Spinach Pie. Again, very well made with plenty of each main ingredient. It was a little on the salty side though. The final main was the chicken with lentils. This was superb and perfectly cooked. All this was washed sown with the Marios red which was a definite hit with everyone. Thanks to all the staff for being attentive but unobtrusive.

This small wine bar in a passage near Liverpool Street is full of charm and olde worlde character. It also serves excellent draught beers and wines as well as lovely food. We held a private party here for 60 people. Alex, the manager, along with Fiona, helped us plan the night, and nothing was too much trouble. The party itself could not have been better. The bar staff Ben, Benji and Ines worked very hard, always smiling and friendly, as did the kitchen staff, who produced a delicious hot buffet. All of our guests loved the venue and were very impressed with the quality of the service. A pub you must visit.

It's a wine bar down an alleyway. Nowt the matter with that, but the lager they sell ain't mainstream and it's very very fruity. In fact I only bought a half and couldn't finish it. Having said that, you could drink vodka, cos the place is worth a visit. It's right in the middle of Jack the Ripper territory [We saw a tour going past. About 30 people] and if they just had candlelight it would be as spooky as flip, and you could imagine lots of nasty people being in there. It's not big but there's more room downstairs. Can't comment about the food, but a lot of people were in there eating. It's not cheap. 6 drinks were £36 and change. Go on, give it a try.

This was a return visit after a splendid meal about a year ago. It was Saturday afternoon around 3pm, and a friend and I went inside - the place was empty and a woman shouted as us from behind the bar that they were closed. We asked if they were doing food and what time they would reopen and she was clearly very agitated and cross. A chap came up the stairs and she shouted at him for leaving the door open. It was a very ugly and unnecessary scenario and an exercise in not how to deal with potential customers. There was a blackboard outside stating "Food served all day" which was obviously not the case. We won't be back.

It's a Davy's Wine Bar / Restaurant so some of you will already know what to expect from the chain: usually dark furniture, cosy corners and a good choice of wines. I should make it clear that I have mostly visited Grapeshots over the last 4 years for drinks only (although I did share a very good cheeseboard on my last visit). It is tucked away down an historical alley off Bishopsgate and is a welcome haven from the busy, noisy City bars that surround Liverpool St. Lots of wines by the glass (I had a reasonably priced and delicious Pinot Noir), the staff is friendly and the evening a pleasant one.

The Christmas menu offered two courses for £24.95 or three for £29.95 and we pre-ordered at the pub's request; I had a nice starter of crayfish, prawn and smoked salmon cocktail, which was served on a plate with a thick slice of tomato as its base. The main course had a generous portion of meat, a lot of gravy, but only a couple of small-ish roast potatoes, and we were brought two small dishes of vegetables to share between 7. There was barely enough for everyone and one of my colleagues asked if there was more coming, only to be told no.My dessert of sticky toffee Christmas pudding was nice - the Christmas pudding was a stronger flavour than the toffee in the cake, but the toffee sauce tipped the balance deliciously the other way.The pub seemed nice - the ladies is tiny with barely enough room to get through the door - and the food was pretty good, if a little expensive.

On our most recent visit the food quality was poor, particularly the unacceptably bland and supermarket basic roast beef sandwich as well as the service. In particular the current manager is rude and unhelpful. I recently had a booking cancelled (without my knowledge) only to arrive to find the chef had gone home early. There was not even an apology for the issues with the booking. On the most recent visit interactions with the manager we not only uncaring but he seemed off put to even have diners in the restaurant. The environment is great, a cozy little pub/wine bar tucked down a cute little alley. Some of the staff (particularly the daytime waitress) are awesome but I have a sense that the manager/barman may have changed and quality/service are going down rather then up. The wine list remains excellent and certainly still a place to consider if you are just going for a drink.

I went here on Wednesday evening with my partner to celebrate a successful audition. We wanted somewhere reasonably priced close to Liverpool st (it's s 5 minute walk). This part of London is transformed from the grim dullness I remember of a decade ago. It is down an alley with a number of nice looking eateries. The place itself had an old inn type ambience similar to others of the Davy's chain. There was plenty of room (but this was mid August!). The service was warm and friendly and, as expected, there was a decent selection of wines by the glass. We settled on Riesling Trocken, from Moselle. Nice on its own but excellent with food. I had potted shrimp, my partner goats cheese salad. We both had duck confit. The wine was great with both. With a coffee and tip the bill was a not too eye watering £65 or so. Overall a find for me. A pleasant place for a nice mid week meal with a convivial atmosphere and friendly attentive staff. If it's cutting edge food you want or a recherche glass of something crisp from Peru, this probably isn't the place for you.

I decided to take my partner out for a bite to eat after he successfully passed an audition. I wanted somewhere close to Liverpool st station (it's a 5 minute walk). The layout and ambience is similar to others in the Davy's chain. it gives the impression of a warm old fashioned inn. The choice of wines by the glass is generous and interesting although a bit more old world than new. In the ent we settled on a glass of Riesling Trockrn from the Moselle. Only slightly off dry, crisp, mine rally and good with food. We had a starter and a main. Mine was potted shrimp, my partners goats cheese salad. We both had confit of duck. I had mine with bean sauce, which reminded me of a cassoulet. It was delicious. My partner asked for an alternative, ( he has an allergy) and without any fuss they produced a potatoe alternative. The wine, as expected went well with all courses. The service was friendly and relaxed. Together with s coffee and tip this came to about £65. I am probably not the first to observe that this like a number of areas of London have changed, largely for the better. I can happily recommend this as an enjoyable reasonably priced place to eat.

Second trip was for a birthday and we were seated downstairs for dinner. It was abysmal. The food took hours, and it was so mediocre chances are any of us could've prepared similar or better food that did not cost 15 quid a plate. The final insult was the desserts were burnt and completely inedible. You have been warned. Save your money and eat elsewhere.

A nice little wine bar hidden away down the corridors off Liverpool st. A really nice little place that has an old pub feel about it. It's very dark inside so can be quite cosy, but in the summer can feel a bit of a hidey hole. Generally people will stand outside which means there's more space inside. A good selection of wines and the staff were pretty friendly and helpful. The draught lager selection isn't the best as there's only two, both of which are quite fruity so not to my pallette. We passed the Grapeshot and thought we would have a quick drink. On arrival it seemed a lovely little wine bar good atmosphere and good music. Once at the bar we ordered. On the back shelf there was a huge full bottle of Archers so my partner order it to be told they didn't have any. The young man that was serving us was clearly new so when he told us we pointed out the bottle on the shelf behind him. The young girl with dark hair told the young man that was serving us they weren't serving the archers. As the waitress said this we repeatedly asked why and asked the young man to ask her too. We were completely ignored by both of them. My partner then told the young man that if they weren't selling it then it should be on the shelf. Again we was not given any sort of response. Shortly after this a table became available and we sat. The table had dirty glasses and a bottle of wine, this didn't bother us. After 25 mins the waitress who initially ignored us, came over and took away the emptied from our table and said "I'll take these for you" we did not find the need to respond as 1) she ignored us at the beginning of the evening and 2) we were mid conversation. As the rude ignorant waitress walked away she muttered "or you could just ignore me"! I could not believe what she had said! I cannot believe that we even sat for a drink in this awful awful place. The way we were made to fell over the fact we asked why they had put archers on the shelf but they weren't selling it was just beyond me. It would have been easy to solve our experience if someone had just explained why! For me this is false advertising, having a product on your shelf on show and then telling customers "we aren't selling it" and not giving them a reason. It's such a shame we had a bad experience as it really put a downer on the rest of our evening. It's such a lovely little wine bar too.We won't be returning and hope that perhaps the waitress was having a bad day. Or perhaps she should change her career because customer service was just awful!

The bar staff here really know their onions and can give good advice on any of the wines available. I have only eaten a sandwich here at lunchtime which was well-presented and very tasty, a bit pricey but average for the area. I notice they now serve breakfast 10-12 Mon-Fri, so if you are too late for McDonalds breakfast at Liverpool St station it may be worth a try!

Found this cosy hideaway on a Wednesday lunchtime...looked really inviting from the outside. The tables were well laid with sparkling wine glasses. My pal and I enjoyed the food and wine very much. The male waiter was attentive but not over the top.We weren't rushed either....It was so comfy we went back a few hours later for a glass of wine before taking the train home.....We would definitely recommend this place and will certainly return on our next London visit......bravo!

Sat downstairs on a Friday night. Was told by the dark haired middle aged waitress "you sat at the one table I didn't want you to... Now I'll have to move all these glasses from it". All this and paying £13 for two drinks? Won't be back.

This meal was an oasis in being a rest from the pre-Christmas rush, as well as its location in a charming olde worlde alley, just minutes from Liverpool Street station and other excellent public transport. The restaurant is in the basement, making it a bit quieter and more secluded - much appreciated when lots of news to catch up on with friends I hadn't seen for 2 years. Lovely food and wine, with quick and very friendly service. Sounds like this restaurant is safe, just sorry several in the same chain in the West End have had to close.

Went here with some visiting family - got served semi-rotten meat and pulled coagulated pork mince for 20 quid. Go anywhere else.

Stumbled on this bar by chance - like stepping back in time - no loud music, stainless steel or cavernous spaces, its cosy, good wine, great staff and comfortable. Food choices limited could do with development but you are looked after without the "have a nice day" falseness. Great for meeting up with friends or a drop off after work for nibbles.

A friend of mine asked to meet up whilst I was in London. I said yes, and he sent me the address of Grapeshots. It took me a while to find - don't rely on Google maps and a postcode! However, a lovely little wine bar (not normally my choice of drinking establishment) with a good selection of wines. We managed to get through two bottles!I'd go again for quiet meetings, catch-ups and intimate drinks.I noticed the restaurant in the basement, and had a cursory glance at the menu - it all looked good, and really, we should have eaten...I'd go again, as I like quiet places slightly off the beaten track.

Great little back street wino haunt for city slickers and the like.Quite expensive actually but the wine is pretty decent, and the bar staff know their peddle. I'll pop in again for a cheeky glass with friends for the cosy atomsphere.

Though we would stop in for a quick glass of red wine on the 29th November which was a cold night, and then ended up staying for 2 hours. Fatal.Atmospheric little wine bar with a great if pricey selection of wines. Unfortunately the staff are extremely charming & handsome and i crumbled under pressure to buy more wine, then caved in to the charcuterie board, followed by the cheese. Please stop employing seductive staff.

Went for dinner , small menu which would be nice but out of a choice of four starters only 2 were available. Three of our party of four ordered bangers and mash but the waitress came back and said that they only had one! The white wine was warm so we asked for it to be chilled - we had to ask to have it back after the main course arrived and she said " Oh do you want it now?" Came back with it still not chilled! One of the party ordered ice cream and it was about 6-7 pounds for three tiny little balls of ice cream! If the food was available and the wine chilled it would be a quaint little place to have supper but not sure it's worth the risk when there are so many great places to eat.

Not sure if I should review this place as I don't want too many people discovering this "secret" little bar? Situated down a quite passage way in the City, this is the perfect place for a quiet glass of wine with friends-lovely warm cosy feel and great service-try this place on a cold winters afternoon and enjoy the atmosphere

Don’t eat here they are running a scam to steal tourists personal information. When I approached them to refund my credit card the server asked for personal information saying that only here line supervisor can make the refund and she does not work on weekends and requires it to make the refund. I’ve reported them to the credit card company.

Really nice salad but the people who make them wear gloves and I’ve seen one of them touching their face and hair with the same gloves and then touching the food. Use a pair of tongs please!

Stef was a superhero to our 9 year old who hit his head gawping at the London skyline. Stef grabbed a huge bag of ice and helped our little boy in his hour of need. Frappacinos and coffee great here too.
