Grantham Arms in Harrogate

It is a few years since visiting this rightly popular establishment. I was not disappointed! The ambience, service, food and drink were all to a very high quality. The fish pie was excellent with a significant amount of varying fish pieces. Thank you Simon and the team 👍👌

This is my new favourite place. The decor is quirky with lots to look at it creates a warm and cosy environment. The food was excellent in the evening and staff very attentive without being invasive, nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in a room in the old stables are that had its own little courtyard with fairy lights and seating. The room was clean and decorated to a very high standard, the quirky theme continued. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was great and there was a nice selection, including pancakes. Fabulous area to sit outside with heated, covered areas.

Had lunch with a friend and we both really enjoyed the experience. The interior is nicely furnished and cosy. The menu is extensive and food was of excellent quality. The staff were all very efficient and polite. It was too cold to sit outside but if warmer that would have been a good option too. Will definitely return and recommend.

On behalf of Boroughbridge & District Angling Club, I would like to say a huge "Thank you" to Georgia and the team for putting on an excellent breakfast in support of 36 anglers that turned up yesterday for a qualifier for the Northern River Masters. We were dealt with very efficiently, the food was great and the staff friendly - always tricky with a large group that don't really know one another. Several attendees have made favourable remarks on the Grantham and the breakfast. This is the 2nd fisherman's breakfast they have hosted this season. Hopefully we'll be back for more.

Arrived after an afternoon at Ripon Races and the check in was quick and efficient. We entered the room and it was lovely and cool after staff had put a mobile air conditioning unit on!! Spacious room and bathroom. Lots of nice touches with sweeties, extra biscuits and proper coffee machine. We dined on the Sunday menu ( sadly the Yorkshire puddings had run out!) but choices were varied and reasonably priced. The hotel run an honesty scheme with a hamper of biscuits, crisps, snacks and a fridge of soft drinks on the communal landing for people to use. Breakfast was cooked to order and all enjoyed theirs. A great place to stay.

Absolutely first class. The service, the atmosphere and the friendly welcome stood out from the moment we walked in. Then there was the food…… My partner’s burger was ‘the best he had ever tasted’ and I had a delightful prawn sandwich with skin on fries. The only disappointment was that we had no room for a dessert. We will be back again without any shadow of a doubt. Thank you so much.

Our yearly stop in our favourite town Boroughbridge and the Grantham. We met up as usual with friends for our yearly he together. Everything was just great. I’d like a special mention to Joe who, once again was the star of the show.

Stopped for lunch on the way to Northumberland. Fish sharing platter was delicious, and the burger was really tasty. It felt like everything was cooked fresh, so although not the quickest, it was worth the wait. Staff friendly. We would return if in the area.

Convenient spot, parking available, good service (special mention to Georgia), nice food. Plenty of room/seating both inside and outside. The only slightly confusing aspect was the detailed instructions in our rooms explaining how to use the air-conditioning and how to find the safe, neither of which existed. We expected neither, so we weren't disappointed, but it shows whoever is in charge doesn't pay much attention to the rooms. Clean, comfy, great shower. The rooms were very warm, in fact too hot and, as is common now in our health and safety infatuated planet, the windows had their ability to open limited. In summary, we would be very happy to visit again and would gladly recommend this place to others. (Despite the Timothy Taylor's Boltmaker, my favourite beer, being flat..... now that was disappointing. LOL) Value for money average, but if it was any cheaper, we would have expected standards to be lower, and frankly, I would rather pay a little extra to avoid mediocrity.

Came across this little gem as a stop off on the way to Newcastle - gorgeous pub, polite and efficient staff and delicious food (we had soup, liver parfait and beer battered haddock) - if it were on our door step we’d certainly be back and would definitely recommend - also dog friendly

Sadly we weren’t able to linger here - this was en route from SW Scotland to Sheffield - but we had an excellent meal in a really comfortable pub, and the service was quick and friendly too as we’d hoped. Jenny had a beautifully cooked portion of beef with dauphinois potatoes and broccoli, while my meal was a particularly tasty wild mushroom and butter bean cobbler with herb dumplings and a side of seasonal veg, perfectly cooked. Sadly no alcoholic drinks, with 90 minutes still to drive, but a fine meal and every bit as good as the highly positive reviews all promise. One to remember on our next drive north…,

Delightful bar/pub/restaurant. We called in the afternoon to have a look and sat outside in a super, quite quirky area, really great. We then went back for dinner early evening. The restaurant is great, not particularly formal but well set out, comfortable, well decorated and generally very welcoming. We had haggis wellington to start which was lovey and mains we had flat iron steak and pork tenderloin wrapped in pancetta both excellent. A couple of beers and a bottle of wine. The staff were first class and very friendly. Really enjoyed our visit, would highly recommend.

I visited this pub for lunch with a friend. The staff are so polite and courteous and couldn’t do enough for us. My friend is vegetarian and there was a good option to meet her needs. The food was fantastic, tasty and hot will definitely revisit.

Great hotel/restaurant, stayed for 1 night, staff were lovely and helpful. Food was superb. Loved the quirkiness of the place, some great features and lovely little touches in the rooms. Dog friendly. Would advise to pre-book evening meal. Breakfast was fantastic.

I’ve just had a wonderful 3 night stay at The Grantham Arms for business. Just a note to say the location, facilities food and staff were amazing. Particularly but not exclusively thanks to Joe and Caroline for a friendly welcome, smiley face and local advice. When I’m next in the area I’ll definitely be staying here.

Just stayed the night at this wonderful establishment. The food was top notch both in the evening and at breakfast. The beer to my liking and the room comfortably catered for my wife and my needs. The thing which topped it all was the the Grantham Arms team. So welcoming, always with a smile on their faces. Best dog friendly place we have ever stayed at. Our dog is of nervous disposition but was so relaxed there it enabled us to relax too. They even had a dog bed ready in the room for our arrival. A quality team a lovely establishment.

Stayed for New Years eve, not our first visit and hopefully not the last. The evening meal meal was great, I had the steak & stilton pie and the service from the friendly bar and waiting team was spot on. Good choice of drinks including cocktails and real ales. We had a lovely meal here New Year’s Day. Booked online but they couldn’t find our booking, got us seated pretty quickly though without a fuss. Staff really nice. 5 stars isn’t enough for this wonderful B&B/Pub. Stayed 3 nights and were well looked after. Lots of detail in the room, fresh milk from the bar on demand for teas in the room. Booked this charming country inn for 3 nights, decided to stay an extra night after only 10 minutes in the place. The bar /dining area had such character, breakfast was exceptional, room was amazing, but the staff were the best we have ever encountered. Bar staff were great, the chef and kitchen staff so friendly when you pass by the kitchen, but the stars of the show were the manager Steve who interacted with everyone, so friendly, helpful, and a fountain of knowledge. The star of the show was Joe who looked after us at breakfast each morning, no words to describe his pleasant manner, if you could encounter this guy at breakfast every morning you would start each day with an incredible ray of sunshine, regardless of the weather. Thank you to all the staff at the Grantham Arms for making our stay so perfect and memorable. Will definitely be back there again..

Amazing! After calling in frequently for drinks and nibbles we decided to head over for a meal. Both had starters and the same main! Outstanding. Booked the Grantham to break our journey on our way south. What a find. Staff were amazing. Room was small (what we had booked) spotless, with a superb en-suite. Perfect for our overnight. Breakfast was delightful. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this superb establishment

Welcomed by staff on entry and escorted to our table. Good menu and good drinks menu. Some taster real and craft ales were brought to our table. We decided to have the steak pies which were handcrafted and very well presented. The Timothy Taylor boltmaker that was on went well with the meal. One of the best pies I've had, and lots of other items on the menu for us to try another time. Staff were very professional, friendly and not in your face all the time, an excellent balance. I'd like to thank all the staff we met for their excellent service and we are looking forward to visiting you again. There is an upcoming event where they match the meal to local ales. We'll keep an eye out for future events as we can't make the one advertised.

Great experience, foods were great and employees so nice. I would recommend to come by for a first experience to English cuisine if you are on your way to Scotland! The director is speaking French Italian and Spanish for those who may feel uncomfortable in English.
