Granny B's Coffee Room in County Durham

I love coming here. Always made to feel so welcome. I've decided they have the most delicious selection of cakes in all the North East! Not open all week is probably a good thing for the waistline as I'd happily visit daily!!!!!!

So impresssed we went again. The scones were different and unusual flavours, but big and very good, and the coffee and tea excellent. Really pleasant lady serving too.

We called for lunch while shopping in Consett. We each had a scone - the biggest we have ever had! My mozzarella and mediterranean herbs scone was delicious.

Delicious coffee, friendly staff and stunning home made cakes make this a coffee shop I'll keep coming back to time and time again.

My first visit was with a friend and we had delicious coffee and cakes. Really liked the idea of the small cakes. Staff friendly and helpful the place is so pretty and clean especially the toilets. I have returned a couple of times since and not been disappointed. Julie

The cafe decor is unusual with wood sculpture tables and decorative objects. The service is good and the staff are very helpful and pleasant. Cakes, hot drinks and biscuits are available at reasonable prices. The arnt any savoury items for sale. The premises are spacious and will take prams and push chairs. This is a great place to meet friends. There are comfortable sofas and chairs which enhance your visit.

I made my first visit with a group friends today. We received a genuinely warm welcome and enjoyed lovely food. See you next time.

We visited here from a recommendation from a family member. We had a latte, tea and 2 breakfast sandwiches, both were delicious. The latte was lovely too. We will definitely be visiting again.

We paid £23 for two sandwiches, 1 cup of coffee and tea and two cakes. The slice of cake was a small slither. My sandwich which was a ‘ploughman’s style’ was just cheese and pickle with lettuce and tomatoes. Feel feel oversold for what we paid. Only thing good was the staff were friendly and place was decorated nicely.

What a lovely surprise when you walk in much larger inside than you would think. It was bright clean and modern with a great choice of cakes and not to expensive.

Love granny b’s for a toastie and cup of tea! The cake are so yummy and I like how you can get the little bite size ones for cheaper! Just perfect when you only was a little sweet something after your lunch! Really recommend :)

I have visited Granny B’s several times and have never been disappointed. The food is gorgeous and it’s great value for money. The staff and decor are 2nd to none. 5 of us recently went for hot food and cakes. What a real family treat! Thank you so much for the nicest cheese cake I’ve ever had. The cheese toasty was delicious and it was served with a gorgeous salad. My daughter had jacket potato which was served with serveral small pots of various accompiments such as coleslaw, tuna etc. I rarely posts reviews but feel you deserve it.

quirky little place with good cakes, will definitely return, bit our of the way but well worth a visit.

Me and my family called in to Granny B’s the other Saturday, and what a beautiful place this is! Such friendly hard working polite staff. The food is great very reasonable my step Mam got the scone and I have never ever saw a scone that size before, she said it was amazing. Me & my dad had a sausage sandwich it was delicious. My sister had the Tuna Melt and she said it was the best Tuna Melt ever & I just admit it looked really good. I had my daughter with me who is a baby plenty of space for her pram. We where served quickly and nothing was a problem for the staff. We will definitely be returning.

Pleasant looking cafe from the outside, absolutely stunning homely decor inside. The coffee is delicious, the sandwiches were well prepared and beautifully presented. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Didn't have cakes but they looked fabulous. The atmosphere was wonderful, chatter and laughter rang around the cafe, it's an absolute gem nestled in the heart of Consett.

We love to this coffee shop sandwiches scones coffee etc are fantastic. I would highly recommend this cafe to anyone . They also sell little things for the home

Popped in for coffee and had to have some cake as it looked amazing. Cake lived up to expectations! Will defo be back. The cafe decoration is fantastic.

Visited today and we sampled a fruit scone (served with jam and cream) cheese scone (accompanied by onion chutney) and a piece of tiffin. It was all delicious and we look forward to returning.

My daughter loves this place. Décor comfortable and feels homely. The food and coffee and good and freshly made.

6 de nosotros fuimos a este café en una recomendación y fue horrible. Tardó tanto tiempo para cualquier servicio que, cuando sucedió fue atroz. La comida estaba bien pero todo salió en diferentes ocasiones, incluyendo la comida para una persona. Las patatas fritas sándwiches terminada antes incluso de llegar. £2 para 'caseros', que era en realidad limonada 7 plana. Queríamos (en principio) el café y la tarta, pero estaba tan decepcionado que dejamos y nos fuimos a la fabulosa Maddisons a la vuelta de la esquina. Nunca más.

Siempre comida encantadora, pero muy relajante entorno que otras personas han horario mencionado son un poco al azar.

Viajo con frecuencia a bastante distancia para visitar tiendas de café y tes, pero es el mejor con diferencia en mi propia puerta. El ambiente de este pintoresco, muy bien ambientado, negocio familiar es excepcional. No puedo conseguir suficiente de este maravilloso lugar... me visita...

Yo y mi amigo encontramos este pequeño lugar la semana pasada. Nos encantó, muy acogedora comida era fantástica, sin duda volveremos cuando estamos en Consett. En la parte delantera de la tienda es una encantadora tienda de regalos

When open this is a lovely cafe but unfortunately it closes, sometimes for a week or more, without any warning. Regular customers will soon tire of trying to use it and will go elsewhere.

Me encanta ir abuelita B's, la comida, el café y el personal (que son todos familia) son excelentes. Es muy confortable y el ambiente es encantador, pero lo único que te defrauda es es tan poco fiable para abrir. Como un cliente regular de apertura que se encuentra con amigos allí encontramos muy frustrante y molesto para llegar a la puerta y ver otro cartel en la puerta diciendo permanecerá cerrada por motivos familiares. Fue debido a reabrir hoy tras haber cerrado por aproximadamente 2 semanas durante la Semana Santa, así que todo ello dispuesto a reunirse allí, pero una vez más, no había otra nota en la puerta diciendo Cerrado. Lo siento, pero esto no es manera de correr a negocios y nuestro grupo de amigos están buscando ir a otro lugar, que ninguno de nosotros quiere hacer

Only had drinks but the milkshake and hot chocolate drinks that the children had were beautifully presented. The cakes looked delicious and the staff were friendly. Will be calling again next time I'm in Consett visiting family. Much better value than the ubiquitous Costa and Starbucks.

we always call in granny b's when in consett shopping. you always get good service with excellent quality food, in a comfortable setting, with an excellent atmosphere. would recommend this place to everyone either alone or with family. this is one of the best independent coffee rooms I have been to

Visited with my partner today for lunch and wasn't totally happy with the lack of service, greeting on arrival, eye contact!!!! There wasn't any of that!!!! We didn't know what we could order, weather it was table service and there still aren't any menus despite the fact they have been open since May! You Couldn't see most of the gifts as I think they must have had a delivery as there was unopened boxes all over. The fire exit was clearly blocked with boxes and pushchairs! My partner had a beef baguettes which was full of ice burg lettuce and a very small broken up thin slice of beef placed on top! I think the idea is nice but the gift shop and customer service seemed a bit neglected!Despite the negatives there were some nice touches.

Visited Granny B's for the first time this week and was really impressed. Lovely food, lovely people and lovely surroundings. Knocks spots off other 'similar' places in town.

I enjoyed my Panini and coffee at Granny B's and enjoyed perusing the gift area. The only think I didn't like is that there were no menu's printed however we visited not long after opening so this may well have changed now. I will be going back soon to try a slice of cake!!

I've been here a few times with a group of ladies who all have young babies. There is plenty of room and baby changing facilities are fantastic. There is a play area for young children too. Food is delicious! Can't fault it at all! Great selection of food and drinks and staff are lovely too.

Please please seek out Granny B's it is a beautiful little coffee shop that adds colour and sweetness to our tired little town. It is full of scrumptious things to eat and gorgeous gifts to buy, with lovely warm friendly ladies who look after you.

I have been a few times now and would defiantly say it's the best coffee I have ever had and it quality is consistent, I have had tried a few of the cakes ( still working through them) I have to say the daim bar cheese cake holds the title for the best cheese cake I have ever had !!!!! Fabulous staff that are always friendly and greet you with a smile x love the decor wish I could do my house the same xxx all together it's a great experience XX love it can't wait for my next visit XX see you soon

i did love to go here for a coffee while my kids played. the coffee and cakes were lovely but my friends had a bad experience when they went in as a group and felt very upset at the staff making comments about their unruly children girls aged 2 and 3.

food was ok notthing special just normal standard of food but the prices are ridiculous for what you get

This new coffee/ gift shop is a fabulous little retreat in the middle of Consett. It's absolutely stunning. Gorgeous decor, quirky furnishings and absolutely scrumptious cakes,scones and cookies that are freshly baked daily! Granny B's also offer a wide range of paninis and sandwiches. Reluctant to tell everyone as I want this place all to myself!! A credit to the owners.
