Had Sunday lunch with friends. Had a window table looking out to sea. Food was very good. 2 courses for £24 or 3 for £30. Staff were very helpful. We asked for more gravy and it came straight away. Would definitely return.

Afternoon tea in the drawing room was jolly nice. Tasty foods and friendly service. The hotel itself is gorgeous, when I'm rich I'm going to buy it and turn it back into a private house, with a butler and everything.

This was a fabulous experience from start to finish. I can't praise the staff enough from reception to servers to bar staff,everyone was great. The room was lovely with a very comfortable bed( so much so we have come home and ordered the same mattress) the only thing wrong was parking,my husband can't walk very far and we couldn't get parked close the hotel

Cannot fault it, very comfortable and staff helpful and courteous. Room clean and large, meals generous portions. Lots of stairs but there is a lift in the main hotel.

Didn't stay in the hotel but we had an excellent dinner here. The hotel itself looks great and I would definitely stay here if I visit Tynemouth or Newcastle again.

The Grand Hotel Tynemouth is a fabulous Venue for a Wedding reception, with amazing views of Longsands beach and coast line from their rooms.

Not the best nights rest, we were in room 111 and the door outside the room leading to the lift was banging all night. then a fire alarm at 7am was not the best wake up call we have had. and it cannot of been as a result of the kitchen making breakfast as the food at breakfast was none existent. Surely you cook an amount of food for the amount of guest you have booked for breakfast? constantly missing items on the deck . they do accept pets which is a plus and the location is brilliant so not all bad, just maybe eat out and bring ear plugs!!

Staff are friendly and very helpful. Hotel so clean and beautiful sea views for quite a few rooms. Have been twice and will go again

A lovely, traditional hotel with sea views available. The rooms are very classic in decor and extremely clean with decent facilities. In addition, the staff were very friendly. All in all, I'd happily recommend staying here.

We were in Laurel house (annexed to the hotel). Decor is dated & needs renovation.

We went for afternoon tea in beautiful surroundings with excellent service from a friendly and professional team in the restaurant. The food was very good as was the presentation.

Vegan afternoon tea . Food was ok, roasted veg for sandwiches ? Cucumber sandwich please .Cakes were nice but no cheese or plain scone . Just a bit of imagination needed . Staff were excellent and The Grand is a grand ,beautiful building x

We ate in the restaurant. Food, wine and service all very good. We eat here fairly often and always leave contented.

One of my favourite hotels. It has class and the most fantastic views of the beach across the road. The rooms have recently been renovated and are great. I think there are still renovations being carried out. It has the most fantastic sweeping staircase. I would prefer coffee to be in a pot at your table rather than a large flask to pour your own at breakfast.

The only negative thing I can say is that there should be coffee machines in the rooms and not instant coffee.

Nice room, decent bar, great breakfast, stunning location and a gem of a little town to find. Comfy bed and well equipped room.

After a long walk on a very windy afternoon we were very thankful to sink into very comfortable armchairs and then appreciated lovely cups of tea, together with GF scones jam and butter! Staff were very welcoming and attentive. Thank you very much!

Had afternoon tea for a birthday, seeing the positive reviews I thought it would be amazing. It wasn't, it was ok at best. Staff were great and also the location. Had better half the price.

I don’t usually leave reviews but I stayed here for one night for my partners birthday and everything was lovely, the room was spacious and comfortable and breakfast was delicious. The staff were absolutely lovely too!

It is a beautiful building in a fantastic location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was large, well appointed, and was very clean.

Being in this hotel is an outstanding experience! Built in 1872 - the charme of that time is everywhere. You will expect Miss Marple to stay there. So beautiful! The hotel rooms have all been renovated, are really good but kept the unique style of "The Grand". Enjoy your breakfast with a beautiful view to the sea - what a start of the day! I am here again for my 18th stay and it still thrills me 😊

We had a fabulous afternoon tea. Very accommodating for food Allergies and intolerances.

Recently updated victorian splendour overlooking longsands Beach. Spacious rooms and bathrooms. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast, nice pub at the back with great bar meals. Elegant lounge bar at the front. Reasonable prices.

30 minute wait for a coffee. Very slow.

Fairly limited menu (it was 30th Dec) but the food was excellent and the service was quick and efficient. There's no cask ale in the bar but you can get it in the back bar (Copperfield's) where there's a well kept selection including local brews. Once you know cask is available you can order in the restaurant. Décor is nice without being over bling and it's a popular wedding venue. The Grand deserves it's name.

This is our second home. My wife and I got got married here, two minutes walk from our home. It's our chill place when we want a quiet bottle of exquisite wine, and a great place to meet on a weekend for coffee and cakes

Our stay in October at the hotel exceeded our expectations. The quality of the room and bathroom seemed like brand new. The breakfast was incredible and the staff very friendly especially Jose in the restaurant. Superb views in both the room and the common areas. The hotel is a short walking distance to center and public transport. We will definitely go back.

Stopped at the Grand in Tynemouth for a work trip, but was completely in awe of this classic hotel, a hidden gem! I highly recommend it; I loved staying here and will most revisit!!

Quite simply the best hotel at the coast.

Absolutely delightful, beautiful hotel, visited for a wedding being held there, it was brilliant, couldn’t fault it. Room was comfortable, clean and homely, we had a family suite in the main hotel which had two rooms and a balcony, it was perfect. Warm and welcoming place, tastefully decorated and in keeping with the age of the building, modern without being devoid of its period features. Staff were lovely and so helpful. Loved our stay here really felt at ease and would without a doubt recommend it for a function and/or a stay. Food was very nice and a great selection of drinks.

We stayed here for the second time . Whilst visiting our daughter. Love the atmosphere of this fabulous hotel Tynemouth is such a beautiful place.

Fabulous couple of days at the hotel, for us everything and everyone was as it should be, no issues at all and looking forward to returning at some point.

Fantastic location but this is a very mediocre hotel which is about what you might expect 20 years ago. Lack of investment shows everywhere. I Paid over £170 per night, had an amazing view of this beautiful coastline but everything else just disappoints. The shower for example is like a budget IBIS. Probably costs too much to get this beautiful building to the level you would like but you never know

An old traditional hotel that lives on its location, which is excellent. We had a large sea facing room that was comfortable. However, for the price I would hope that it would have good WiFi which it didn't, and that the bathroom would be better, all the usual issues of no surfaces to put anything and an extremely poor shower. There is currently no competition in Tynemouth which is very lucky for the Grand. Unfortunately I left a charger and despite paying for it to be posted out I had to chase up ten days later to find out what had happened only to discover they hadn't got round to posting it out.......... As I say, it is a very good location and the public rooms have an old world charm ( with old world clientele ) to match.

Very good traditional sea front hotel. Nice size room with view over the bay. Great food. Had evening meal and breakfast both were of a good standard. Limited parking. Would stay here again.

Stayed here with my mum in room 333 on the 19th September. Lovely hotel, nice and quiet and just on the doorstep of the beach. Staff were lovely , friendly and helpful. Room was amazing and the views from the window were lovely. The breakfast was delicious and piping hot. Lovely service from the staff here all round

Beautifully renovated hotel. Decor definitely "Grand". Hotel staff very efficient and friendly. Breakfasts were very good. Unfortunately the restaurant was not open Mon, Tues and Wed, while we were there.

I always knew when I get married, it would be at the Grand Hotel. The building has so much character and the setting is just magical! I have to say the Grand Hotel did an amazing job of our August wedding and left us walking away 100% happy with our choice of location. I would like to say a big shout out to all the staff, from the house keepers to the waiting staff, especially to Demi and Helen, who made our day so perfect! Mark and Michael Smith

Met a friend for coffee. Great company, lovely surroundings, great view, polite and friendly staff what more could you ask for?! Maybe sunny weather as it was raining but that didn't spoil the view.

Cannot rate rooms as we did not stay there. Food and service were excellent.

The food was very good, although the service was a little slow. Definitely an older person's venue.

Had sunday lunch,one of the best Sunday lunches we have had,I had braised beef my wife had turkey ,my beef melted in the mouth and the gravy was delicious all veg was cooked perfectly,and deserts were also lovely great value too

Breakfast lovely and rooms very clean and modern. The only sad thing understandably as an old hotel with lots of character no AC. After warm weather the room was humid but for second night they added a fan to help. Would stay again/will stay again!

Lush place for a coffee on a rainy Tynemouth afternoon

Fabulous hotel. We loved it and our room had the best view.

230622 have been here for a two nights since 20th to 22nd of June 2023. Wish to come back.

Lovely view rooms were very well presented cleaned when required, every day if needed. Excellent food and all the staff were friendly curious and professional. Location is right on the seafront - sea view rooms are a bonus and worth the extra.

Not for families. Two adults and two kids (baby and toddler) stuck in a completely separate side annex, top floor, up two flights of stairs and no lift with all of the gear required for families. Only family room available faces the bins and air conditioning units, and is adjacent to the event terrace which, if you’re trying to get a baby to sleep in a hot, no AC no fan room (so you can’t close the windows), is trying to say the least with activity up until 10pm. Furniture at least 30 years old in the room as well. Won’t be back.

Right on the front 10 mins from the high street lots of pubs and lovely Sunday market in the train station. Would highly recommend

The food has gone very downhill in the last couple of months. They changed the drawing room menu and we ordered the turkey panini which was reheated and tasted awful. The fruit scones used to be delicious but today they were half the size reheated and soggy and unfortunately one of them had a hair in it. I'm not sure if they changed chefs. Such a pity because we visited nearly every weekend but won't be returning.

Thoroughly enjoyed this stay. Just wish it was longer amazing sea view from the room.

Overpriced afternoon tea. £25 you get 4 finger slice sandwiches, 2 small scones and 3 tiny puddings.
