I couldn’t possibly comment on the food/drink. The cafe looked really nice and we thought we’d give it a try. Unfortunately we were turned away at 3.30pm and offered takeaway only! Shocking that a business in the centre of town would turn down business at such an early hour. Just gives the impression that they can’t be bothered.

A pleasant surprise. Lovely coffee and cake. Newport is not necessarily somewhere I’d choose to revisit but this little cafe made it a far better experience.

There i am on my normal Tuesday lunchtime wanting my normal 30 second heated sausage roll and a sprinkle doughnut. On a normal day this would go smoothly and enjoyed my food. However on this occasion, i was met by a woman who refused to heat my sausage roll for 30 seconds and only for 1 minute stating it was the law. Personally i feel its unacceptable and its a pre heated pastry going in the microwave not uranium. After questioning her choices, she replied with its either hot or cold. I'm overall disappointed and did not enjoy my over heated sausage roll.

Ever since the first lockdown in March 2020, I have regularly ordered online a selection of sweet & savoury treats from Graces Bakery. They offer free next day delivery, islandwide and the items are always well packaged and arrive by mid morning - perfect for elevenses whilst still working from home! I have just received todays order; 6 large cheese scones, 4 large Easter themed iced shortbreads, jam doughnuts and a mahoosive iced chelsea bun for my other half. Everything always tastes delicious and the portion sizes are large. They have shops all over the island so you never have to travel far to find an outlet, or do as I do and order online for home delivery.

We bought french style bread to make filled rolls for lunch while sailing. Taste and texture of the bread was amazing, setting off some strong cheese and IoW-grown tomatoes a treat. The highlight of the day - honestly!

One of the best pub Sunday lunches we've had in several years. The meat was succulent - and if you can't choose beef or port you can have half and half. The potatoes were crunchily roasted with soft interior. The Yorkshire puddings seemed a step above most pub versions being neither greasy nor, like so many places, perfect roundels straight from a freezer. There wasn't much green veg but the kale - normally not something I like - was salty and well prepared. Great with the beautifully prepared red cabbage. Big shared portion of cauliflower cheese included too, and - on request - extra gravy and really tangy horseradish. Frankly not much to criticise here and the desserts were brilliant too. We had heard someone say that the change of ownership a week or so back had caused a drop in standards but it's hard to believe that it was ever much better than this. Highly recommended.

Came in to see a friend and left with a warm contented feeling, the place is warm and cozy and very friendly, but spacious enough to not be overbearing. The food is excellent and it has to be the best burger on the island hands down, it’s huge, full of flavour and seriously tasty, highly recommend the village inn

Called today what must have been the busiest day ever. Had to queue for ages but the coffee tea cakes and flapjack perfect. My reason for five stars were for the young lady behind the counter working alone and so hard (others working behind the scenes preparing and serving orders ) but she smiled and was so courteous she deserved a medal. Only downside at 2.30 running out of items such as scones bacon sandwiches etc but maybe they did not expect the number of customers . Well done
