Came here with my girlfriend's Grandparents and her Siblings. Food was very nice and the food service was quick. Have not been here before but would happily come here again

Booked The Goughs for our Uncle's funeral wake on 8th July. The service was excellent and the amount of food you get for £5 a head is fantastic! Food was of superb quality too. Thank you all for making the send off for our Uncle perfect and I would recommend The Goughs to anyone.

Book here for 18 people on the 24th July 2024 2 hours before I needed the table, dean managed to fit us in even after a busy week with all his customers. He was the only chef but food come out quick, hot and tasted absolutely amazing! Will definitely be back again. Yet again Dena your food was delicious 😋

Me and my family went in Sunday most of us had the carvery and a couple had off the main menu, well what can I say the carvery was outstanding fresh veg mouth watering meat and a huge Yorkshire pudding, the main menu for the others was cooked to what they asked for, I’d recommend the goughs carvery and main menu to anyone, and can’t forget the staff that are really friendly and efficient and very helpful, I will definitely be returning x

When for late lunch with a friend Wendy as always been a great lady and a friend it was nice to see her , but the chicken wasn't cooked although they did cook it again we took it home but the chicken was still cold in the middle the chef needs to watch what he's doing as uncooked chicken isn't good...... Response.... Funny we can't reply to yr response, we eat in first the chicken was just off frozen in the middle we sent it back with the young girl that had just started her shift they said another meal was being cooked but we couldn't wait, so they served it take out for us but when we got home the chicken was still just off frozen in the middle

Amazing staff, lovely atmosphere. Private area for functions available and buffet options available. Buffet was lovely and loads of food left over which we took home.

Nice friendly staff and really great food

I've enjoyed myself for my friend's birthday and I think the food is delicious and tasty. But it's a little bit crispy for chips in the oven with melted cheese. I like everything I have.

I came to the pub to enjoy a nice mean, the burger that I had was absolutely brilliant filling and they are very generous with the portions, the carvery is also nice from there, bar staff are funny and kind, pub was very clean and toilets too which isn’t very common in pubs 10/10 everything!!

Friendly staff, great food, clean toilets that’s a plus some pubs are so dirty. First time I’ve taken my dog as well overall experience lovely.

We decided to eat here today , what a little gem of a place the service was great freindly staff very keen to help , the food i gave a four only reason being. Was not a lot of options but had the normal peas carrots and cheese brocli and mash would love to have seen things like cabbage and brocli more variety would have been perfect but what was on offer was definatly good . Really freindly atmosphere and people definatly be returning here again to see what else this place has to offer .

A new managers Dean and Kelly have turned the place around great food and go out there way to accommodate you, keep up the good work.

Since new management have taken over its been great the food is bang on neva had to complain the management and staff are all loverly and well manors they will definitely give you there all if needed the entertainment is great expecially the last bank holiday from wen the doors opened it was so busy everyone enjoyin there food and drinks and the entertainment after was amazing you cudnt move in there I really enjoyed myself here is to the next bank hols they am doin brilliant 👏

Poor hygiene, cold uncooked food, extremely rude management

Busy day for pub staff. carvary was expensive compared to other pub's Sunday lunches but limited amount of meat. lamb was being hacked by the chef. vegetables were warm and a good choice.

Bostin carvery and price is good,always manage to squeeze us in even when busy.

I had the lovely experience of performing at The Gough Arms for St Patrick's day, and from the second I walked in, it was such a wonderful atmosphere. The staff and punters were all so welcoming, especially when it came to be performing! The family feel of the pub shine through and having the children dance around me was so lovely. Thank you for asking me to perform for your event and I look forward to returning.

Absolutely bostin food can’t recommend highly enough

Food was a good standard for the price charged, staff were clearly experienced and friendly. I rated this a little low so have now remarked as for this type of establishment the food was actually a better standard

This was our 2nd visit since its been taken over and its a really great carvery with plenty of choice and the food is lovely and hot. All the staff are really helpful and friendly!

20 of us had meals here today not one complant from anyone about the meals staff were fab and made sure we all had a good night hadnt been here for food for a good few yrs but will defo be returning

This is our local and we always have a good meal here, we enjoy the carvery especially. Staff are friendly and welcoming and the pub is busier than it's ever been each Sunday lunch time.

We revisited the Gough Arms with our family and two year old granddaughter.... this time for Sunday lunch. Having enjoyed a Sunday lunch ladt December and the best ever Christmas Day dinner we have ever had, we had to come back at our first opportunity. Dean and his team have turned a relatively good, but quiet, pub into a very busy venue with top class food and many other activities on most days of the week. It is now, surely, the hub of the community and on Sunday 3rd March, was packed with many locals who, in true Black Country custom, remembered us from our previous visits and made us feel part of the local community. Dean, you have really turned this place into "the place to go" and it is such a pleasure to see it thriving! Well done!!

Been for a carvery for the last 3 weekends and it's been well worth it. Great value and a big turnaround for a pub that was in freefall just a few months ago. Well worth a visit and advisable to book a table as it's going to get even busier as the word starts to spread.

Great service and atmosphere we enjoyed our carvery today. My only gripe was that my mum was charged £4.50 for 3 small scoops of ice cream and sauce which considering the dessert cakes were £4.99 each, thought this was a bit steep.

We used the goughs for my nans wake as she loved it in there and used it regularly. We took up the option of having it catered by the pub, we were thrilled by the lovely spread provided and fantastic value for money it offered. I would highly recommend the goughs for family celebrations and events as well as an everyday meal. Lovely friendly staff who made this sad day alot brighter.

This pub is Absolutely disgusting will never be coming here again been down hill ever since new management have took over. The one bar staff is very off putting the way she’s coughing whilst serving and coughing on the drinks and food that’s been taken out. The manager needs to be there when it’s busy and not just leaving one person all on her own to be there to serve on the bar as doing everything else . You go in there and think to yourself is this actually a pub as never have any fruit shoots and half the time only have Pepsi max my 2 year old daughter had to have a j20.The food that we ordered was stone cold and the steak we had wasn't how I asked for it also had a desert for my 2 year old daughter which was the kids ice cream which I had to send back as there was pieces of plastic in it was not happy at all I would not recommend this pub .however you go in the toilet and the toilet seats are broken and on the floor and never no tissue.

Such a lovely friendly atmosphere, all staff are really helpful and pleasant and the Sunday carvery is just beautiful with proper home made roasties and meat that melts in your mouth

This review is for 'The Village Inn, Wednesbury but the management have just taken over this pub! This is a warning! DISGUSTING, DIRTY and NOT WORTH £580!!!!! We had a family party here on 27th Jan and decided to have their buffet and also provide the DJ! Well..... On the day of the party, was when we realised we had made a big mistake! The pub has a awful smell and I know it is stale, dirty pipes, beer and the use of lots of bleach, trying to mask the smell... ( family ran pubs when I was a kid..) The function room is in a state, dirty, ripped seats, tables are broken and unsafe, I leaned on one and the top wasn't even attached and this was one of the buffet tables! The walls haven't been painted for more than 6+ years! and they are so dirty, stuck with pins, tape and bluetac from years of parties. Dirty, dusty floors and the bar was sticky and dirty! As it was a Surprise party for a 70th birthday, I arrived early so it could all be sorted. They were arriving at 7.15pm and at 6.50pm the DJ or Buffet still hadn't arrived!!! Eventually I enquired, they said the buffet was in the fridge and the DJ was on his way! I asked about table cloths (was told it would all be provided) but the people who do the buffet (I found out it was the people who run it) didn't leave any and they would have to call to get some brought in. By this point... I was panicking... they bought the cloths and the buffet was bought out! There was 2 big buffet tables and food was brought out in little plastic trays covering 1 table. I thought the other table was for desserts etc... I paid £250 for a buffet for 50 people!! ( there was only 35 adults and 10 kids) so it should have been more than enough.... once the party started I took lids off the buffet and realised there wasn't much food! Within 40 mins most of the food was eaten and I asked if they were bringing out the rest? there was NOTHING ELSE! My family was complaining the food was horrible, stale sandwiches and not alot to choose from.... it was DISGUSTING! People were still hungry! My husband ended up going to Morrisons and spending £60 on desserts and cakes for everyone! It was embarrassing! It would have been cheaper buying the food and doing it ourselves! My family were saying how bad it was and I had to stop some of the men "complaining" on the night! ( a deposit was refundable for the room 2 weeks after the party) I was scared we would lose our deposit! The DJ wasn't much good, he was stopping songs halfway through and restarting them. Luckily we aren't a dancing kind of family! I actually was so upset by it all, I left at 9pm!!! I cried all the way home! It has been 3+ weeks and I have had to go to the pub again, email and call to get my deposit back, which I got yesyerday! The people who run this pub, I was told did the buffet and have now taken over the "Gough Arms )" in Hateley Heath. I will not be going there again, either.... this was a nice pub! If I thought complaining to the management would make a difference, I would... but I would recommend you find a better place for any party's. This pub needs closing!

Me and the Mrs visited today for a Sunday carvery one of the best ones I have been 2. Staff were friendly and polite, the food was delicious. Definitely be coming back here soon thank you!!

Service was very slow but did apologise

We came here for a family meal on Saturday. We arrived at 5:30 to be told that there was a 45 minute wait on food so not to order food until around 6:15 fair enough. So we went up the bar to get a drink, there was one person serving, the girl in front of us had been waiting 15 minutes to be served. Once it was my turn I asked for 2 pints and asked if they did fruit shoots (we had our 2 year old with us) the bar maid shrugged her shoulders and said no we don’t, no alternative was offered. 6:15 arrived and we went to order our food. There was still one barmaid serving, while having a conversation with another member of staff about her being in from 11, it being too busy and then took her opportunity to call the manager a few names that I won’t repeat but wasn’t very nice to hear. We ordered our food and waited an hour for it to arrive, while the manager was apologetic about the wait and that they was short staffed. Now if you know you’ve got a few big parties in that will be wanting food then pull more staff in, one person serving a busy bar really isn’t fair The food tho I will say was beautiful, I had Mac and cheese and it was lovely. My partner had a burger and it was huge, my little one had the mini kids meal of nuggets chips and peas and there was a lot there. I would go again but I really think they need to sort their staffing out, if they can’t handle that many parties then don’t accept them

We went to the Goughs for years as we always enjoyed the food but after a really inedible meal in 2022 we had never gone back, I was looking for a place to hold my mom's wake and had heard there was new management, Google reviews were all positive so decided to check it out and have a meal first before I booked the wake, what can I say, my steak was cooked to perfection, my partners mega mixed grill went down a treat and the little un enjoyed his cajun chicken burger. Suffice to say we booked the wake and the buffet was great, proper old school buffet, good variety of sandwiches and nibbles, more than enough, some of us took doggy bags for tea, and a very reasonable price, I would like to say a big thank you to the new gaffer and staff and look forward to trying the carvery next

Excellent! Just come back 04/02/2024 wife and myself had the carvery all very,very good tasty and hot, served on warm plates! Our Granddaughter had the hunters chicken again very good. Then i had chocolate fudge cake with ice cream and my wife and Granddaughter had jam and sponge pudding with custard all very good (lovely) service was good and thanks to Dean for a great experience. Highly recommended will be back!!

Had Sunday lunch today 14th Jan.The meal was very nice taste wise but it was not very hot , in fact most things were only warm. Problem is when it is like this your food is cold by the time you finish. Had it been hotter would have given 5 stars.

Walked through the door and was welcomed straight away, I thought that was really nice, very friendly manager who served us, had the carvery and what can I say but it was beautiful, not dry like other places, staff are very polite and the tables were very clean, will definitely visit again very soon, thankyou

Lovely pub ,me and hubby both had Sirloin steak cooked just as we asked, best steak we have had for a long time food was really hot , the chef even came out for a chat would highly recommend this pub .

This place has recently been took over by new managers and it’s absolutely great!! The food (and specially the carvery) is amazing and the manager can’t do enough to make sure you enjoy the experience!

Came in for a carvery and what can i say we was not disappointed. Plenty of meat 4 choices, lots of different veg, roast pots we to die for, yorkie pud, stuffing was all amazing! Lovely young man served us he was happy and helpful. We will be back every sunday. Thank you gough arms 🙂😋

We visited the Gough Arms as a family.... myself, my wife, my son-in-law's mum, daughter and son-in-law and our 2 year old granddaughter. We all had the Sunday carvery.... a choice of three meats - beef, pork and turkey and a superb selection of vegetables..... roast and mashed potatoes, parsnips, sprouts, carrots, cauliflower cheese, peas along with Yorkshire pudding and stuffing balls. All the usual sauces.... gravy, apple, horseradish, mustard are provided too. Well, Golly gosh!, what a lovely wholesome meal and I would stake money on everything being fresh (not frozen). The taste was lovely and food plentiful. Five adult carveries and a child's carvery for under £60. Definitely a place to put on your eatery list. Absolutely well done to the team at the Gough Arms. Roll on Christmas Day, when we will be back for the Festive menu.

We booked for a family party of 44 people and had a brilliant time. Food was great and the staff were excellent, friendly, courteous and went above and beyond. I'd definitely recommend.

Last minute decision to go and try the new carvery at The Goughs. Rang to see if we needed to book a table for two, we didn't need to. However when I got there they had booked us in because they had gotten busy.. "just incase" we turned up. Food was lovely, nice selection of meats, Friendly service, all friendly staff. Will definitely return.

A bostin burger and pint! I returned here after a previous visit and was not disappointed by the food. A great burger with an offer with a pint! Huge, better than KFC (2 hash browns😀) even came with gravy! I will come again for food and would recommend, a much improved menu with daily offers.

I had chicken bar b q I waited around 40 minutes for meal when it came the chicken was cold so I returned to the bar .they said would sort out and cooked a fresh one which took around another 25 minutes all my friends had finished eating when I got my meal the server apologise for wait the food was OK this is the first time my food as not been good here

Having used the Gough Arms in the past, with really good experiences, we decided to take another trip for a meal and drinks. There were a few customers there, and it looked like there was a group with a birthday, as well as another couple of groups (couple with children and a group of friends). It looked like there had been a change of management and staff. Sat down, and started looking at the menu - must point out that it was just after 7.25pm on a Thursday night. A couple of minutes after sitting down, we were approached by a member of staff, and told that if we were looking at ordering food the kitchen would be closing at 7.30pm. What an absolute farce, I could have understood if it had been after 9pm, but at 7.30pm???? We left, and sadly don't think we will be going back in a hurry, I am sure there are plenty of places that would appreciate the business in the current climate

Good old traditional pub.... The food was good, Has a reasonable car park to the side & rear... Also has a large beer garden nothing fancy just table & chairs on grass.. get the sun with a drink what more do you want lol.

What a refreshing change compared to my previous visits many moons ago, Great Staff, food was lovely, Bostin pint! Great to see they have decent Management now...
