Nice pub friendly staff great atmosphere

Came here today around 5 and the service was shocking she was on her own and didn't seem to have a clue what she was doing. If it was her first day then apologised but the pub was a mess and the worst part... The ladies toilets! Omfg the smell made me wretch! Smells like a fish mongers but rotten fish. The place is awful.

Just been here, great food, great service. Would recommend if you enjoy a decent pint and good pub grub.

Had a lovely carvery here on Sunday. Great quality and selection of meat and veg. This was washed down with a couple of beers. A great choice of cruzcampo / carling / poretti and moretti! Recommended..

Just held my husbands surprise 40th birthday at the Gough Arms. We don’t live in the area anymore but all of his family live there. The staff were so helpful in getting the party organised from afar, they couldn’t have done anymore to make sure the day went smoothly. I had to call multiple times to check various things and the staff were just as polite and accommodating every time. Including allowing me to have a bouncy castle set up in the garden. On the day, everything was perfect. Nothing was too much trouble, even a slight hiccup with a forgotten food item for the buffet was immediately rectified. The garden area is huge. The venue is clean. The buffet was generous. The staff are professional and friendly. We had a perfect celebration and I would urge anyone considering whether or not this is a good venue to hold their party, to stop their search. It was a truly perfect day, everyone loved it. Thank you Gough Arms.

A bit rubbish not very busy atmosphere boring

Very slow serving and ran out of steak. Had to fetch own food from the door. Very slow service due to 1 man running the place single handedly on a Friday tea time.

We had booked the table for yesterday last Sunday you had sent a text to ask if were still coming when we turned up the bar staff didn't look interested &told us we weren't on the system we were put on a table which wasn't very clean customers who were already in were looking at us the attitude 2 new customers is not good at all won't be recommending its like you didn't want us there that's not very good customer service 👎😡

First time I'd been to the Gough Arms since 2001 went there to see a tribute singer. The bar man bless him arranged an additional table as I said there will be 6 of us. It seemed no trouble to him and he made us feel welcome. The other staff pleasant and helpful. It made a lovely change and my parents enjoyed there evening out.

A sad occasion, an utterly disappointing buffet, cold food all beige. Not very well presented and not very pleasant to eat. Pub and drinks were as expected, however steer clear of the buffet. No thought or presentation 😞

The food was delicious and a good selection of drinks and the staff are very friendly and welcoming will definitely be going again

Friendly staff, 100% better since Dean and family took over.

Only ever ate carvery here but was nice and filling. Drinks are a bit expensive. Still need to see an act here which I’m told is every last Friday of the month so hoping to go again next week.

Since new Manager take over, The pub is much better and more friendly. The food is great and beer is great.

Second time we have had a family get together there recently and despite the fact we had a few cancellations due to the weather, the staff were so accommodating, the food (again) was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them. If you haven't visited recently, you're missing out. Thank you so much.

The Gough Arms provides exceptional customer service. Upon arrival, the staff warmly welcomed us and made us feel at ease. The culinary offerings were of the highest caliber, and I wholeheartedly endorse this establishment.

I have been coming the Goughs my whole life, and the food now is better than it has ever been, and the staff are just as lovely as they've ever been - it's nice to see things change that benefit the pub. I love coming here to meet my friends.

Food was good and was quite as it was a dinner time

Thank you so much for looking after my dietary requirements when I visited here for a funeral wake on Tuesday. The chef went out of his way to externally buy me gluten free food so I was catered for with my celiac disease. I was so worried about not having anything to eat all day, and I was surprised by the choice he cooked just for me and even labelled my food with allergy flags. He was also so considerate and empathetic to me because I was so nervous about cross contamination- he was so patient and understanding and I really appreciated it! The chips were absolutely banging and I can’t wait to come up to visit here again. All the staff were really friendly and it felt like such a warm, friendly environment. I’m gutted I didn’t get the chefs name but I wanted to say thank you so much! :)

Lovely pub food was spot on hubby had the Beef madras, naan rice papadum I had cheese burger and fries food was cooked perfectly, nice and hot definitely recommend a visit to here .

Had our father’s wake at the Goughs yesterday and Dean and the team really did look after us. Buffet was lovely and very reasonably priced and they have a good choice of drinks at the bar. Catered for my niece who is coeliac no problem; she was really impressed with the choice and amount of food she had. Considering the reason for hiring part of the pub it was a lovely afternoon. Thanks guys ❤️

The new managers of The Gough Arms have done an amazing job with the establishment since taking over. The atmosphere is always welcoming, friendly and upbeat. Food is bostin, great range of drinks and bar snacks. Dean, Alex, Gemma, Kerry, Liam and all the other members of the team are amazing. Deffinately give it 10/10

Beautiful pub, beautiful food, beautiful atmosphere. We visited on a Monday and the pie and drink offer for £10.50. And my daughter had a beef burger which was also lovely and not dry at all. Food was fresh, hot and extremely tasty. We also had ice cream for pudding. Blue light discount was accepted- Even better. Staff were lovely and offered us more than we even thought of asking for- Thank you. We will look forward to visiting again

Booked The Goughs for our Uncle's funeral wake on 8th July. The service was excellent and the amount of food you get for £5 a head is fantastic! Food was of superb quality too. Thank you all for making the send off for our Uncle perfect and I would recommend The Goughs to anyone.

Book here for 18 people on the 24th July 2024 2 hours before I needed the table, dean managed to fit us in even after a busy week with all his customers. He was the only chef but food come out quick, hot and tasted absolutely amazing! Will definitely be back again. Yet again Dena your food was delicious 😋

Me and my family went in Sunday most of us had the carvery and a couple had off the main menu, well what can I say the carvery was outstanding fresh veg mouth watering meat and a huge Yorkshire pudding, the main menu for the others was cooked to what they asked for, I’d recommend the goughs carvery and main menu to anyone, and can’t forget the staff that are really friendly and efficient and very helpful, I will definitely be returning x

When for late lunch with a friend Wendy as always been a great lady and a friend it was nice to see her , but the chicken wasn't cooked although they did cook it again we took it home but the chicken was still cold in the middle the chef needs to watch what he's doing as uncooked chicken isn't good...... Response.... Funny we can't reply to yr response, we eat in first the chicken was just off frozen in the middle we sent it back with the young girl that had just started her shift they said another meal was being cooked but we couldn't wait, so they served it take out for us but when we got home the chicken was still just off frozen in the middle

Amazing staff, lovely atmosphere. Private area for functions available and buffet options available. Buffet was lovely and loads of food left over which we took home.

I've enjoyed myself for my friend's birthday and I think the food is delicious and tasty. But it's a little bit crispy for chips in the oven with melted cheese. I like everything I have.

I came to the pub to enjoy a nice mean, the burger that I had was absolutely brilliant filling and they are very generous with the portions, the carvery is also nice from there, bar staff are funny and kind, pub was very clean and toilets too which isn’t very common in pubs 10/10 everything!!

Friendly staff, great food, clean toilets that’s a plus some pubs are so dirty. First time I’ve taken my dog as well overall experience lovely.

We decided to eat here today , what a little gem of a place the service was great freindly staff very keen to help , the food i gave a four only reason being. Was not a lot of options but had the normal peas carrots and cheese brocli and mash would love to have seen things like cabbage and brocli more variety would have been perfect but what was on offer was definatly good . Really freindly atmosphere and people definatly be returning here again to see what else this place has to offer .

A new managers Dean and Kelly have turned the place around great food and go out there way to accommodate you, keep up the good work.

Since new management have taken over its been great the food is bang on neva had to complain the management and staff are all loverly and well manors they will definitely give you there all if needed the entertainment is great expecially the last bank holiday from wen the doors opened it was so busy everyone enjoyin there food and drinks and the entertainment after was amazing you cudnt move in there I really enjoyed myself here is to the next bank hols they am doin brilliant 👏

Busy day for pub staff. carvary was expensive compared to other pub's Sunday lunches but limited amount of meat. lamb was being hacked by the chef. vegetables were warm and a good choice.

I had the lovely experience of performing at The Gough Arms for St Patrick's day, and from the second I walked in, it was such a wonderful atmosphere. The staff and punters were all so welcoming, especially when it came to be performing! The family feel of the pub shine through and having the children dance around me was so lovely. Thank you for asking me to perform for your event and I look forward to returning.

This is our local and we always have a good meal here, we enjoy the carvery especially. Staff are friendly and welcoming and the pub is busier than it's ever been each Sunday lunch time.

Great service and atmosphere we enjoyed our carvery today. My only gripe was that my mum was charged £4.50 for 3 small scoops of ice cream and sauce which considering the dessert cakes were £4.99 each, thought this was a bit steep.

Been for a carvery for the last 3 weekends and it's been well worth it. Great value and a big turnaround for a pub that was in freefall just a few months ago. Well worth a visit and advisable to book a table as it's going to get even busier as the word starts to spread.

We revisited the Gough Arms with our family and two year old granddaughter.... this time for Sunday lunch. Having enjoyed a Sunday lunch ladt December and the best ever Christmas Day dinner we have ever had, we had to come back at our first opportunity. Dean and his team have turned a relatively good, but quiet, pub into a very busy venue with top class food and many other activities on most days of the week. It is now, surely, the hub of the community and on Sunday 3rd March, was packed with many locals who, in true Black Country custom, remembered us from our previous visits and made us feel part of the local community. Dean, you have really turned this place into "the place to go" and it is such a pleasure to see it thriving! Well done!!

We used the goughs for my nans wake as she loved it in there and used it regularly. We took up the option of having it catered by the pub, we were thrilled by the lovely spread provided and fantastic value for money it offered. I would highly recommend the goughs for family celebrations and events as well as an everyday meal. Lovely friendly staff who made this sad day alot brighter.
