Burgers are delicious, was free to double up our patties too which is always a positive thing lol fries were nice, friendly staff all around highly recommend

I went for a take away. There was a lovely warm reception, though I was the only person there. Treated myself to an old fashion while I waited which was a very good version! I was offered to take my food in good time. As that was well before I’d finished my boozy cocktail they keep back the final prep and only finalised my burger and fries when I was ready - which seemed like a great idea to keep it fresh and warm! Nice. After a very short walk home, I found the burger patty solid for £9. The toppings reasonable but the bread a real let down - ate like a air-filled supermarket brioche, I might get 10 of in a packet and use on a home bbq, not really restaurant take-out quality for me. The overall effect was underwhelming for the price, and compared unfavourably to a place near my home in Coventry that is really excellent for the same price.

Have visited many times and plan to keep visiting many more. Food is always top quality and amazing. New items and specials popping up keeping it all fresh with a warm, friendly service which completes the experience. Unable recommend highly enough to anyone that loves amazing burgers.

Too many options on the menu to choose from and I decided to go for the steak one which was tender and juicy! My friend had a veggie burger which was yum! The halloumi fries were spot on. I only wished they served milkshakes too which would have been an icing on the cake!

To be honest I am not a big fan of burgers but this place is fantastic. You can tell the quality of the beef but last time had chicken which was also amazing. You have to try the halumi fries as well.

This review covers my experience eating their peanut butter and jelly burger and the experience my son (3.5) had with his "childs" vegetarian burger. But if you don't want to read the full review: My peanut butter and jelly burger 4.5/5 My sons vegetarian burger 0/5 I was looking to take my son to Society Standard next door to have some Mac n Cheese, but theyvwere closed because it was a bank holiday. I saw the Got Beef sign, which I'd ordered from for takeaway before but never eaten in, and thought "yes, I could do with a burger". I went inside and it was empty because I think they'd just recently opened and I was greeted pleasently, and I asked if they did kids food and they said they did. We sat down and they brought us the menu and I quickly found the childrens option, which was a beef or chicken burger, fries, a juice and an ice lolly. My son is vegitarian so I asked if there was a vegetarian option and the waiter said that the children's option included a veggie burger, so I ordered that. For myself, I asked about the peanut butter and jelly burger, because I didn't want to order it over the Soprano if it was going to ruin my meal, and the waiter convinced me to try it. The pb&j burger was great. Taste was brilliant. I'd give it a 5/5 if it was a little bigger (the bacon comically stuck out of the burger both sides by about an inch). My sons food was a different story. He started by eaten all his fries since the burger was too hot to eat, which is frequently the case when you order food for children in a restaraunt. When it finally cooled down, he had some and after two bites threw his hands to his mouth in panic. I tried the burger and I realised it was really spicy. I like spicy food, but I was genuinely suprised by how aggressive the spice was for something that a child was meant to eat. I would have happily eaten this burger if I wanted something spicy. When the waiter came over to ask how everything was, I said mine was great but veggie burger wasn't suitable for a child. The waiter apologised and said she'd tell her manager. The manager came out and said that the burger my son had was the one they'd been serving children for ages and they'd never had any complaints. He also said that it says on the menu that it is a spicy burger. In that moment I didn't trust my memory that it wasn't on the menu, but I double checked afterwards and it isn't there. He offered me 50% off so I didn't argue, since it's not like it would change the meal. What I didn't realise is that he'd taken 50% off the kids meal, which considering I would have gone somewhere else where my son could eat his whole meal had I have known they serve a very spicy burger to kids, wasn't actually that reasonable. I took a picture of the menu on the way out to evidence this. I thought maybe the manager might have thought I'd deliberatly ordered the spicy burger and been mistaken, but actually reminded me the kids meal comes with the ice lolly before I paid. Another possibility is that they gave my son a spicy burger in error, but the manager again specifically said it was a spicy burger (and advertised as such on the menu, which it isn't), so I'm baffled. So yes, great burger if you're a meat eating adult, terrible burger if you're a 3.t year old vegetarian.

Really fancied a good quality burger tonight….. what a disappointment! Cold, overcooked and far too salty! For the price……£32 for 2 burgers and one fries….. expected something delicious but sadly was not pleasant! Husband says worse take away he’s ever had☹️

This place is using unpaid labour! I know 2 people who have done 'trial shifts' for it and haven't been paid!

Food was very good, staff were friendly, most members of my party thought the drink options were a let down here and that's the reason for 4 stars. The burger and skin on fries were lovely.

Disappointing. The burgers we ordered were both like hockey pucks. In shape, size and sadly almost in consistency. Both were overcooked and the beef in both had been ground too fine, so they were dense and not great to eat. The sides ordered weren't great either and the whole experience was pretty disappointing, staff weren't that friendly and when things aren't available on the menu or because they've sold out, how hard is it to put up a sign saying that? Not cheap nor expensive but surprised to find out it was cash only. I might have missed the signs if they were there but not what you'd expect. No point lost for this but a bit surprising.

We’ve been here before and thought the burgers were good but never rushed back. Ordered a takeaway through Uber eats last night and was v disappointed to have paid £11+ each for a shriveled mushy veg burger on soggy bread and a tiny portion of chips that tasted like stale oil.

Says there open and there closed and when they are open I found a long hair in burger NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN!!!!!!

Ordered food through Uber Eats app all went through fine then 1:30 hours later had a phone call saying that our order went through after they sold out of everything and there was nothing they could do. How did it take this long to tell us we could have ordered from somewhere else, now it's too late to order from anywhere terrible service.

Undercooked burgers in the 'animal style' burgers, absolutely appalling! I have photos as proof and couldn't eat them. I had it delivered so couldn't take it back. No sauce, no onions, virtually no lettuce, a cheap bun, virtually no cheese. Extremely disappointed.

Nice burger! I ordered Philly which had a few steak stripes in addition to the patty, and both were juicy! The music was also nice, but might not be good for people who would like to have some chats, as the music was a bit loud.

Wales Online has this as the best burger in Cardiff so I have been waiting a while to try it. I was not disappointed in any way. Quick, friendly service, all social distancing measures in place and wow, what a tasty burger! Cooked to perfection; so juicy and moist with an absolutely amazing flavour. I didn’t want it to end. I had the ‘Animal Style’ and the rest of my party had the ‘Welsh Black’ and the ‘Complete Tw*t’...ah, no, sorry, I mean the ‘Donald Trump’. All were very satisfied with their respective choices. The price was very reasonable compared to other burger places I’ve tried in Cardiff so when you add the quality of the product, you could say it was cheap. Don’t be fooled by the perspective in the photo, the burger was a good size (2x 5oz patties) If you like burgers you have to try this place. I can’t wait to go back.

From the beginning of the visit I was told cash-only, even though I had rang 10 minutes prior to book a table (I wasn’t told then) so I to leave the restaurant to get cash. I then had to go the counter to order, where the girl stood about 3-4m away so that I had to shout my order. I then had to hand the cash over, sit down for 2 minutes, as I sat down the girl who had taken my order went into the kitchen and began laughing with the other waitress. It may have been completely unrelated to us but made me feel awkward. Then when the drinks were ready get back up to collect the drinks, sit back down and stand back up to collect the food after 10 minutes. The waitress had no issue speaking to an authoritative looking gentleman who came in around 10 minutes after us AT the counter normally. I completely understand Covid-19 situation right now, but we were made to feel like we shouldn’t be there and eating in the establishment. However, couldn’t fault the food, wish we had just gotten a takeaway from Uber and tipped the Uber driver instead.

Very disappointing take out - we live round the corner but the food somehow managed to be stone cold on arrival - almost as if the food was made hours in advance. Burgers were tasteless & bland. Disappointing burgers and fries! Spent over £70 for burgers and chips for myself and colleagues working late in the office. The burgers lacked flavour and had ingredients missing - how can you have a blue cheese burger with no blue cheese? The Heisen burger had blue onions in which was all style no substance, they were bland and tasteless. It costs £3 for a small handful of mediocre fries. Mediocre at best, and overpriced. Try other burger restaurants

If you're in the mood for a burger, this is the place for you. Great menu, including a variety of sides. Nice simple seating and friendly staff. Couldnt ask for more really. I particularly recommend the burger with the marmite butter...nom!

Came here with my friend as we were in the neighbourhood. The burger didn't disappoint. The staff were really friendly and super helpful. I do realise going to a place called Got beef and being vegan I wasn't going to have much luck. But they did have a couple of choices which I was quite happy with. (I can't remember which one I had but it had jerk Jack fruit which coconut). They have a meal deal which is super cheap for what you get. A burger and drink (selected drinks) for £5. You don't get a good deal like that often! Some would say it's a pain that the place only takes cash but it's not a big deal. The only downfall was parking, took us 20 minutes to half hour to find a space but the wait was worth it, in my opinion. Definitely coming again and bringing more people!

Myself and my partner decided to visit after recommendations from work colleagues. The start of the experience was stressful as had to drive around the area for about 20 minutes just to find a parking space! There are limited spaces available on the road outside, however if you visit at a peak time you’ll be lucky to get one. Anyway back to the restaurant, on arrival we were greeted by a very friendly and polite waitress who gave us a table and was very efficient in taking our order. The wait time for the food was reasonable and there was a very relaxed feel to the place. When the food arrived things went downhill.... This is a joint that claims to be “Cardiff’s best burgers”, when you make such a bold statement it is paramount you deliver, unfortunately got Beef didn’t. The burger was average at best and it all felt slightly overpriced for what you got, I certainly did not leave feeling I got value for money as the burger seemed slightly processed and I even found a little gristle. To summarise it certainly isn’t Cardiff’s worst burger, but definitely not it’s best.

This place really is just style over substance. The meat that the burgers are made from is such poor quality. I’ve bought better burgers in the Co-op. Everything just feels cheap. It’s as if they decided to buy the cheapest ingredients possible, serve them in a hipster setting and then charge premium prices. Me and my friend had the meal deal £5 (even that felt overpriced for the quality) The buns are too big for the burgers. The burger meat is cheap. The tomato ketchup isn’t even Heinz. The choice of free drink with your meal deal only includes fizzy water or a god awful lemonade drink. God forbid they let you have the Coca Cola. I’m sorry but for premium prices you should be serving premium produce. Will never visit again. I’ll stick to Five Guys & The Grazing Shed

I last came here 2 years ago and had a lovely burger, dirty fries and a can of Pistonhead lager. I recently went back and it wasn’t the same. Something felt...not as good. Gone were the beers, it was cash only and the place lacked atmosphere. The food, however, was still good. Unfortunately, there were several things that brought the score down . Spotify. They were playing the FREE version which included adverts during playlists that killed the vibe and made the place feel cheap. Can’t they afford £9.99 a month for the Ad-Free version? An advert for KFC played while waiting for my food! Table candles. There were tea lights on all the tables and not one was lit. That would have provided a bit on ambience to the place. No alcohol. I had to leave and walk down the road to get a beer. I did get 10% off at the shop though, so points to them, but not GotBeef I’m afraid. No Card. I had to leave again. The cash point close by charges for cash so I had to go a few minutes the opposite direction to Co-op for a free cash withdrawal. No burgers. I had to have two small patties instead. This was a major let down considering they’ve won wards (last award Walesonline 2017) for their food. There were more Deliveroo staff there than customers. The website is also missing content and hasn’t been updated since 2015. If I’d left a review last time I visited it would have been 5 stars. I’ve given 2 stars. One for the food and one for the staff. 1 - The absence of beer and card payment was an inconvenience, having to leave the restaurant twice. 2 - The use of free Spotify and no lit tea lights felt like they can’t be bothered anymore. 3 - The lack of burgers. Well that’s embarrassing. I would go back, but only for takeout.

We decided to visit Got Beef for the award-winning burgers, however we left confused. The burger meat looked processed and didn't taste like beef so we asked the staff if it was a beef or ham burger. I felt silly asking, but it genuinely didn't taste right as we thought the quality would have been higher for the prices. We felt disappointed about the experience as we were looking forward to it. Ordered the Heisenburger - the blue onions (being the distinguishing part) were sparse. Nothing personal just unfortunately underwhelmed. Good drinks prices though!

Well, as far as burgers go I’d offer this diner a 6/10. Not bad by any means but there was definitely room for improvement. Not to say we didn’t enjoy ourselves or the service. The service was great. No complaints. Although the Burgers were lovely and moist the taste of the dishes just could of been better. Personally I think the build quality of the burger meat and the presentation of the end results could be offered up to a better standard. We like our burgers either really dirty or very elegant. These were neither. The lack of an alcohol license was a downer as you can’t have a burger with no beer served really. But that is down to management choice after all. Not saying we didn’t enjoy the food because we did but it’s not a full on blow your socks off burger by any means. Would I return? If I was passing and fancied it yes. Not going to go out of my way but there are other places to also try and go. Thanks guys.

Nice little cozy place with a great design around the place. I tried the Welsh Black and fries. The burger was good. Not like outstanding but still a really good burger. You know it’s a good burger when you’re still thinking about it a week after you had it. That’s all I have to say!

Very good burgers and sides, decent vegetarian options available and all at very reasonable prices. Good service from friendly staff and you can bring your own alcohol.

Avoid if you have allergies to seeds! Meal started off well, the service was quick, staff were friendly and they were quick to check with the kitchen regarding nut and seed allergies. We ordered the love it or hate it and soprano burgers and also the chorizo fries. I was shown a book with the allergens for everything on the menu which is when I noticed all the burgers had sesame seeds ticked. This seemed weird as the photos I had seen on line did not show sesame seeds on any of the buns. I was then told they would swap the bun for a wrap and the pesto on the chorizo chips had pine nuts in which I am not allergic to so I said it was no problem. Soon after the member of staff came back to tell me they could not serve me a burger at all as the tick meant for the whole burger and that the only thing they could serve me was Southern fried chicken in a wrap but they would try and make it as similar to the love it or hate it burger as possible. They said they would have to leave out the marmite butter, I don't know why this would contain nuts or seeds. I agreed as there was still bacon and crispy fried onions in the burger. When they brought the food to the table I was definitely a bit shocked by what was presented. A plain wrap, Southern fried chicken, some melted cheese and uncooked onions. We then realised that there was no pesto on the chips, I enquired and was told the pesto had cashews in (which I am not allergic to) so they had removed it. If we had known the pesto had been removed in advance we would not of ordered these chips and just got normal chips as the chorizo chips were £6.95! I have never been so disappointed in a meal in a restaurant. I don't believe the burgers contained sesame seeds, on inspection of the soprano burger we could not see any sign of seeds. The soprano burger was average but not anything special. When I mentioned that there was no bacon in the wrap they removed 20% off the bill but even then I still feel ripped off paying £4.84 for this wrap. I understand they have to be careful with allergies but I think they could of made a better solution or just communicated better that I should expect so little.

We were looking for a perfect burger place for our sons birthday and by chuff did we find it. Got Beef is a quirky little eatery on Whitchurch Road Cardiff but trust me there’s nothing little about their burgers or their imagination when it comes to creativity. I would never have thought of putting crunchy peanut butter in a beef burger but by god it’s the best idea ever. We also ordered the halloumi fries which were a revelation. Trust me if you’re looking for an amazing burger then look no further than this place. Worth noting it’s cash only and bring you’re own alcohol. Totally worth it. Thank you Got Beef for a smashing evening.

We have visited got beef about 5 times now and every time the food has been amazing! We have taken my 3 year old son as well and he has loved the kids burger. Every burger and every kind of fries we have tried have been excellent and the halloumi fries are the best we have tried! We drive from port talbot to go for food here because it is so worth it. Staff are always super friendly and it is always very clean in here! Would recommend this place to everyone

After reading reviews we visited on a Saturday night, called prior to visit but they only take bookings for 4 or more people so you just have to hope they have a table available. You can take your own alcohol and there's a shop with a beer fridge a few doors down if you're on a night out. We both had burgers and dirty fries. WOW!! The burgers were beefy and juicy with great toppings the dirty chips hot and tasty. I love putting ketchup on my chip but no need!! The perfect combination.

Very relaxed atmosphere. Had The Hangover Burger and the Dirty Fries. Have to say, it was an excellent burger, soft and juicy. The fries were also delicious, and it was all washed down with a cold beer from the shop a couple of doors down. Would highly recommend.

Visited here on June 8th for my daughter Lauren's 18th Birthday. We booked a table for 13 of us. Small place but lovely and cosy. When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely young man very polite lovely smile, made us feel very welcome. I asked if they had somewhere to keep the cake for us and I was taken to a cool room at the back which was fab! We all ordered our food and it was all served the same time, which was amazing. The food was lovely no complaints at all! They bought the cake out all candles lit was lovely. Would highly recommend Got beef, thankyou to all the lovely staff that made our evening lovely everything ran smoothly! Prices were fab too!!

Food nice, service, what sevice, four members of staff having a laugh which is absolutely fine, if they actually acknowledged they had customers! No specials offered no pudding offered and oh had to go looking for a staff member to pay!!

This was an interesting lunchtime visit with my team. The menu provides a good variety of burgers and the burgers offer a pleasing variety compared to the fare offered by the high street brands. I took some time to make my decision before ordering the double Dirty South burger and Dirty Fries. Although I did not order it I was amused by the Donald Trump which includes American cheese, Mexican cheese and Russian dressing - imagine that! We had a good selection of the burgers on offer between us, including non-meat. The Dirty South and Dirty Fries combo promised to be spicy and did not let down. I still had a pleasing chilli glow on the tongue and gums some time after returning to work. This is a BYOB (bring your own beer) venue although they provide glasses and cooler if you wish. There is a shop a few doors down that sells beer and will provide a discount if you mention that you are going to Got Beef. Discounts are offered to students, the elderly and military in Got Beef. Bear in mind that cash payments only are accepted, so no card payments unfortunately. There are a number of nearby ATMs. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable visit. This was not our first visit and is not likely to be our last! It is a relaxed, pleasant environment, the staff very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended for a visit.
