My family went there for my daughters 21st there was a party of 12 I was supposed to have gone but I was taken ill. They have all said what a fantastic time they had. Their food was absolutely lovely and the staff were extremely helpful.

Had Christmas lunch at the Monkstone. Absolutely excellent. Food was gorgeous and staff couldn't do enough.

Great service as always. Beer is excellent. Highly recommend

Normally we love the food. On 16th November. I had a microwaved beef pie, could eat it. My husband had a steak meal, slightly overcooked and a wrong meal for my niece. So disappointed.

If you get a job from this pub or this company avoid it!!!!!!!!!! My dad was not paid for the hours he worked at this place and the hr department promised to pay us on the October 7th then ended up not paying and lead me on saying on the November it’s the November 9th now and we still haven’t got paid This is so unprofessional if they don’t pay us I will have to take actions against this idgaf I will do do anything to get the money

Haven't been there for a long time but someone recognized me straight away, had a long chat, it felt good. Went with family and a friend , lovely time, food and service was great will come back again. Big car park, toilets, and outside seating area under cover. Thank you

The Monkstone Inn has been one of my "locals" for several decades now. It has a good regular clientèle who enjoy and add to the atmosphere of this establishment that has always had a big emphasis on the food served. When it was a free-house it was run by the same family team for almost 25 years and built up a great reputation. It is now, after a few chops and changes, owned by Marstons. It is a good reliable place to go and eat simple "pub-grub" in a great atmosphere. Don't come here for "cordon-bleu" or nouvelle cuisine but do come for good simple tasty and well cooked food that we can all eat at everyday prices (different special offers available each weekday evening). See you there...

Very disappointed, fish was so overcooked . The battery was so hard it could be used for a doorstop . Was offered a complimentary coffee which was very poor. Will not be using the establishment again ..

Standard pub with the usual offerings on the menu such as burgers etc. The pub itself is nice and clean to be fair, with a nice terrace for when the weather is decent

Sunday roast was amazing, staff really on the ball.

My experience was poor the food we ordered mixed grill was cremated still had the charcoal taste in my mouth hours later the steak was inedible tough and chewy

Lovely food, great portions and came out really hot too. Booked a table for 4, had a booth which was great for privacy. Staff were extremely accommodating and helpful with my friend who is gluten free. Fast service and really friendly staff. Loved it and will definitely be back.

Had evening meal here . Sirloin steaks, came as ordered. Nice & tasty . Loved it.

Booked tables for a group of 30 (adults and children) celebrating a 60th birthday. Food served quickly and was hot and tasty. Staff were more than happy to help. Drinks and food reasonably priced. Landlady went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our day. Thanks to all the staff.

This is our local pub restaurant have been going here for years Food is fab mu favourite is the curry.The staff are always friendly can't do enough for you will be visiting again soon.

Have just been to Monkstone Inn Rumney for Sunday lunch. I would not recommend this. Food was served cold, vegetables were frozen, Yorkshire puddings burnt and the beef was most definitely not a roast joint, seemed similar to what gets served in a ready meal. Mentioned to member of staff (I believe it was manageress who runs pub) who said we should have said earlier and she would have replaced it all but quite frankly we did not want the same inferior quality of food, only hotter. We did get asked if we were having dessert or more drinks but were so disappointed with what we had been served we weren't interested in staying. It's such a shame to feel let down by a local pub. We have had other meals from the menu in the past that were ok but today's experience has taken the Monkstone Inn off our places to go for food. I understand hospitality has been hit hard by cost of living but so have everyone and the cost of this Sunday Roast was higher than the food quality warranted.

Total disappointment! Had Sunday dinner there today. Won't be going back. Food was cold. Paid £10.99 for a beef dinner. The veg was not fresh and was more like frozen veg you get from the supermarket. Beef were slices you buy for a sandwich. The only thing I liked were the roasties. We complained but not offered a refund but offered a free drink or dessert which we both declined. Feel the whole meal would have cost the pub a couple of quid and therefore, I feel were massively overcharged too.

Ate here this evening, made very welcome. Service and food great. Leanne exceptional hostess. Steaks were amazing.

My wife and I enjoyed a pleasant experience having dinner here at the Monkstone Inn. We will definitely return again soon. The food was lovely.

Some staff members were totally ignorant and gave awful customer service. A young waitress behind the bar (I went to Secondary School with her) was serving alcohol when she is underage. She then complained about me drinking alcohol (I was not) and told her manager who told me someone else had to finish my Pepsi for me. This was ridiculous. This girl should not be working there. I will be contacting Trading Standards and most definitely would not be going back.

I checked the receipt after my mother a pensioner had bought in advance. I said I think we have been overcharged as she was adamant that it is correct it has been run through the till so I say can you run it through the till again please and and produce another receipt because I am getting about £5 odd extra The look on her face as if she had been rumbled I suspect yes it could be an honest mistake that they do add the odd drink on and added it to the tips jar was extremely rude. Mistakes happen which I’m still polite now and I said yes, okay fair enough no apology I was extremely polite as I always am was told not welcome here anymore would not want to come back. The quality of the food was really nice but the service extremely rude still left £1.65 rounded the amount of think she wanted the other £5 they charge mysteriously for an extra drink when we ordered three meals which come with three drinks, this is my honest opinion

Excellent good and service as usual considering there were 12 plus, food was hot and fresh and service outstanding. Compliments to the chef and staff as always.

Have found the place really nice friendly staff always update you what’s available and not and quick service and the bar staff are really good at their job

As usual this place never disappoints, friendly staff, great customer service, fantastic food and all at a really good price. Great selection of food and drinks, enough choice for everyone. Keep up the great work all, you do an amazing job!

We had what we expected, a Saturday lunchtime meal. Cider for my wife, Guinness for me, and pleasant service.

The food was so nice and cooked to perfection definitely go back again....

Most definitely the worst Sunday lunch anywhere. The sign says great food. Plenty of gravy stated on the menu . What gravy ? Also go large for an extra £2 (Joke). All I can say is it was cold and disgusting. When you leave half of nothing theres an issue.The Cross is just across the road . When it comes to food quality The Monkston is a million miles away. As for the Yorkshire pudding. Photo uploaded Shocking!! Your only as good as your last meal . Never again!!!!

Sunday lunch was awful. Treat for my daughter every other weekend. Our usual place that we go was booked up . I had to take her home and feed her the food was disgusting. I'm so angry that they allow this rubbish to leave there kitchen. 😡

The Monkstone hosted my mums 80th birthday party on Saturday 22nd July- it was such a great success, the buffet food was delicious, we had so many complements about it,the atmosphere and service second to none- nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much to Leanne and the team for looking after us and ensuring that both young and old had a fabulous afternoon. Many happy memories were made and we would highly recommend them . Best wishes going forward xx

Good points- tasty food, friendly staff, good prices. Bad points- decor. Badly stained seating and even up walls. Chav central for parents who wish to get p*ssed whilst leaving unruly kids to own devices and annoy other guests.

Myself and two daughters went for birthday meal & there was no faults. Food was cooked to perfection and served hot. Great value for money and excellent customer service given by Bethany and landlady leanne.

Had the cauliflower and red pepper curry this evening for a change, omg was absolutely stunning, I'm not a veggie but this had all the flavour that it didn't need any meat, service from staff amazing as always, great atmosphere.

They ran out of fish but the gammon was an excellent replacement

Lunch with my daughters and granddaughters, staff friendly and helpful. I had the fish and chips 10 out of 10 absolutely fabulous.

Thank you to all the staff at the monkstone, we brought our son with 6 of his friends and parents. The boys played football outside and we had a good catch up. Food was lovely and staff attentive as ever. Highly recommended 😊
