Gōst in Glasgow City

Sunday Roast (Beef) was absolutely delicious. Meat was lovely and pink in the middle and perfectly coloured radiating outward. The vegetables complimented the beef so very well and portion size was spot on. Heritage Tomatoes were fresh and served with a gently tangy sauce/ketchup. Lemon tart (with raspberrie), whilst a little difficult to cut/crack was warm and easy to eat when picked up with fingers (I am not proud!)... raspberry ice cream and dried raspberry pearls added to the enjoyment. Great value for money. All that said, I had perhaps expected more from the A la Carte menu.

They have got the balance right between attentive service and providing the privacy wanted. Timely delivery on meals, but no rush at any stage, despite the place being very busy.

Updated review 23/11/2024: Again a great service showing from Gõst, but the food was lacking a lot from last time. They were unable to cater for my peanut allergy on everything on the menu except for 3 items, due to the ongoing UK mustard contamination. While this is understandable, I'd expect for the cost (which was about 30% more than the last time we went) that they could fry food away from contaminated mustard for a bit Our host/waiter was excellent, the steak was pretty good, I was really gutted to see the removal of haggis bon bons and brulé donut from the menu. Previous review: Gōst was an excellent date night tonight! Impromptu visit and went for alternatives rather than their famous steak, was incredibly impressed with the Haggis Bon Bons, Seafood Tagliatelle dish, Caesar salad and Whole experience was incredibly efficient, never felt rushed and never waited for anything. Euan in particular was great, clearly professional and passionate about his job but took the time to have some good banter with us and his recommendations were excellent! Deffo going back. Maybe even a tradition! Side note; the care afforded to my peanut allergy was efficient and painless while attentive and reassuring.

Justo el equilibrio correcto de amable y súper, pero sutilmente atento, al punto que no tuvimos que preguntar. Los valores de la vieja escuela y las habilidades de conexión son raras en personas menores de 40 años, por lo que fue refrescante. Todo el personal con el que interactuamos fue cortado de la misma tela, pero este joven debería estar dirigiendo el lugar.

The food was fantastic - we arrived in for a weekend break and this restaurant was high on our list. It did not disappoint. However, a very special recommendation must go to Ewan. The best table service I have ever had, EVER. The attentiuon to detail and service was exceptional. Well done, and thank you, Ewan. Gost, this fella is a keeper!

Esta fue la mejor experiencia gastronómica que he tenido. Desde el momento en que entramos Denny nos hizo sentir como miembros de la realeza, y la comida estaba fuera de este mundo... He tomado algunos buenos filetes en mi tiempo, pero el Tomahawk que compartimos mi esposa y yo fue, con mucho, el mejor filete más suculento que jamás habíamos visto! No importa probarlo , y por supuesto que tuve que comer la enorme carne de la única como costilla de repuesto , solo que 10 veces más grande 😂 Si te gusta comer bien y te gusta el bistec, entonces solo tienes que ir a visitar este lugar. Denny y Ewan son los mejores en hacerte sentir especial también. Un must absoluto. No puedo esperar a nuestro próximo viaje a Glasgow para poder volver y probar algunos cócteles y comida más increíbles 👌👍🏼👌

came here for my birthday, had such a wonderful dinner. the food was exceptional and the staff were so friendly, attentive with fabulous recommendations. Andrew, who we spoke to throughout the night was a gentleman. Gost is an absolute must visit if you love steak!

Absolutely fantastic meal! We came in during the market menu times and decided on the two course option. I had the cauliflower soup and royal chicken, my husband had the steak frites and sticky toffee pudding.. I also had the highland old fashioned. Everything was perfect. The food was extremely well done, the service was incredible. I was beyond happy we came here.

I have been here 5-6 now, has become my favourite restaurant in Glasgow and probably the best! Food is beautiful and consistent, not once has the food disappointed. From the kitchen to the service, 5 star!!

Steaks are amazing. Delicious, perfectly cooked and very tender, melt in the mouth. Gost is not cheap but you get what you pay for. The service was very good, attentive but not obtrusive. Definitely worth a visit.

Utterly splendid. The service is top notch,, attentive without being overbearing, and yet still friendly with decent banter. The food is absolutely incredible, the fillet was cooked to perfection, brilliant choice of sides, the whole experience was faultless. An amazing addition to the. Glasgow dining scene. The bar man thinks Tiramisu is a top tier dessert which is obviously wrong but that is our only complaint 🤣🤣 Had to revisit this - bevause its been such a long time since I left this review and I have to say - after my most recent visit standards have not slipped one iota. Andrew looked after us perfectly - food was absolutely top notch, drinks were superb, wine chilled to perfection (Something many others get SO wrong) - a flawless dining experience!

After a not so perfect first visit, the restaurant invited us back, and I must say, the second experience was outstanding! We were seated immediately, and the staff was incredibly attentive throughout the meal, constantly checking on us to ensure everything was perfect. The food was cooked to perfection, exactly as we ordered, and the entire experience was so much better than before. My husband and I truly appreciate how the restaurant went above and beyond to make things right. They even covered the cost of our meal, which was a generous gesture. A huge thank you to the team for their excellent service. I highly recommend giving this place a try—you won’t be disappointed!

Great steakhouse in Glasgow. The food was amazing and the service was even better. Ross and Andrew made the evening a blast and the chateaubriand was cooked perfectly. Make sure to try the beef butter and sourdough (thanks for the recommendation, Andrew)! Plus, Ross recommended a great wine to go with the beef. Overall, just quality!

We went to Gost for a large group dinner as a corporate team and the service was amazing! Andrew and the team couldn't have did more to help and the food was amazing. We had so many compliments from all of the team on our choice of venue/meal!

Food was amazing, only think I wasn’t fond of was the Mac and cheese side - wasn’t very cheesy but the beef brisket spring rolls starter was delicious and the steak and fries were great! Fab service too and loved the ambiance. Also didn’t feel rushed at all which is always nice

Us 3 ladies attending for a later lunch on 14th September. The food was absolutely delicious and the service second to none it wasn't hugely busy but think that is due to location the decor was lovely. A hugely pleasant experience.

We had a lovely anniversary dinner here. The service provided by Amy was excellent and made the whole experience so much better. She was one of the best servers we’ve had at any restaurant. The food was excellent although my wife’s fillet was rather chewy. We raised this and the staff were very apologetic and gave us money off the bill which we were thankful for. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back as it was a great experience otherwise.

Enjoyed a lovely anniversary dinner with my girlfriend here at gōst. The food and drinks were excellent with the spectre cocktail standing out in particular. Joseph and Seb were attentive all night and made our night extra special. Thank you to both of them 👌

We had a great time at Gost. Everything was perfect: the service, the friendliness of the staff, the original cocktails, the quality of the dishes. You can go there with your eyes closed, you will definitely have a good time.

Visited here recently for an anniversary and it did not disappoint! The food was amazing, well seasoned and fresh! My steak was cooked to perfection. Cocktails were lovely. Service was exemplary. Food, however was very mixed. Haggis bonbons tasty, risotto bland, pasta claggy, swordfish undercooked in parts, schnitzel was dripping in oil and should have been finished in the oven or under the grill. Sorbet was delicious but sticky toffee pudding was dry and floury.

A really nice place, it has excellent dishes at honest prices. We ate tasty tagliatelle and delicious fish and chips. The service was quick and impeccable!

My husband and I went for our birthday dinner. The atmosphere was quiet and beautiful. Our server, Ewan, was the perfect balance of friendly and chatty and giving space to enjoy our meal. His recommendations were all perfect. The meal was hands down the best steak dinner I've ever had. 12/10

If you ever wondered where to go in Glasgow for a fantastic steak and with the decor and service to match, this is the place. Service is second to none and well worth paying extra for the Scottish Black Angus steaks. It is a wee bit pricey.

Set price menu but the usual add on for anything decent. Small portions - pate with 2 tiny bits of bread. Steak lovely but not even a bit of veg .. need to bulk up their portions before I’d go back

We’ve been there today, on Friday night, without a reservation and they welcomed us in. They have been all super kind and helpful, even adding a table for some friends that came in later. Food was great, all the waiters have been super kind and Amy, the waitress who mainly served us, has been so patient, helpful and really really nice with all of us! :)

A would like hipster chic micki restaurant! Way too expensive for what you get. The music is as loud as in a pub! The food is ok, the risotto is terrible! Why would you put something on the menu that you can't prepare?!?

The food is good and we got good suggestions from Ewan and the cocktails from Poppy is nice too! Definitely give a try if you are a meat lover! Not going to regret!

Myself, my fiancé and my in laws were in town together for the British Open and came to Gōst for dinner one night- it was easily the best meal we had the entire time in Scotland. The steaks were amazing and the drinks were also excellent. In addition to the food being great, our server, Andrew, was the best waiter. He was funny, personable, talked golf with us and gave us several recommendations for things to do around Glasgow. If you are travelling to Glasgow, don't skip this restaurant

Polite and respectful treatment Their steak is halal, and I recommend that if you want soft and juicy, you get medium rare The taste is delicious The quantities are a little different, so everyone has to have an order. In my opinion, there is no point in sharing unless you are keen on eating 😁

Food was amazing, one of the tastiest meals we’ve had in ages. Starters in particular were incredible. Lunch menu super good value.

The service was amazing and such friendly staff. Was a mix up with the prawn on the wrong steak so the steak with the prawns ended up being soaked in garlic butter which is unfortunate as he hates that. Both steaks were undercooked for medium where most of it was blue. Mac and cheese was not eaten as it was far too strong. The fries and dauphinoise were amazing as was the sauce. The pudding was a very dry doughnut 😵‍💫😵‍💫 they made such an effort for our occasion and all in all was a great time.

The service was lovely, menu selection is fantastic. Cocktails too. The food itself was cooked to perfection but it is very over salted.

Finally a cozy place to relax with lounge music, good food and a good wine list. It's the second time I've returned, a winning location can't be changed. Excellent choice of meats with very careful cooking. The wines by the glass are, at least the reds Merlot and Malbec tasted, with good structure and very pleasant to accompany my plate of T-Bone. Absolutely recommended in this very melting pot city. Highly recommended

Excellent server (didn’t get his name sorry!), service was a little bit slow, but really nice food on the whole and a great atmosphere. Good starters, followed by reasonable quality steaks (we all had different cuts of meat) and some deserts. Nice couple of bottles of Chilean red wine too. If I was being picky, I was hoping for blow your socks off quality steak so one star loss for this.

A really beautiful restaurant with a great vibe, great music and lovely staff! Our waitress was attentive, friendly and professional and left us delighted with the customer service. The food however was lacking. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but it wasn't the best steak I've ever had... It had been rubbed in salt (Which I love btw), but this, as well as salty chips, salty onion rings, and salty peppercorn sauce, made for an uncomfortable dining experience. Just too much salt... Will 100% try again cause I am hoping it was just an off day.

WOWZA, The service was impeccable from a girl I believe was called Amy ensuring our every need was met with a smile. we eagerly anticipate our next visit as a family. Five stars without hesitation!

Came in for dinner a few nights ago with the misses and had the best meal of my life. We shared the porterhouse and a bottle of wine. Epic service from Amy!

Party of 3.we had phoned prior to booking to ask about gluten free options.was assured we would be catered for. Arrived to the waiter handing us a sheet of paper with allergens on it after asking for the gluten free options.none. So had to work out what we could order ourselves off the main menu from going from the menu to the allergens sheet. Starters came promptly 1 fishcake was delicious 2 beetroot starters were quite frankly bland.mains next 2 burgers and fries and a chicken supreme. All of which where luke warm.before the 2 burgers came..chicken came 1st...we were told the gluten free fries would indeed be in the same fryer used with the regular fries..so seriously what's the point in that? My friend declined the fries so was offered a salad instead of fries..small bowl. Declined any dessert as we were all really underwhelmed with our meals.bill came we did express our feeling with the meals so the beetroot starters and the bread was then deducted from our bill. All in all food wasn't up to the standard we were expecting. service was friendly and prompt but for the prices and what we ate we wouldn't recommend. Sorry.

Food was outstanding steak exactly how it should be as long as you know what you like. Amy on service was a little star 🌟 took care of every need and doesn’t leave you sitting waiting. Nice restaurant, good atmosphere and brilliant staff. Unfortunately, my Wife and I got food poisoning from the Oysters. We also had the Wagyu steak, a few desserts and some cocktails. This was our first night out after having a baby in October and left us both out of sorts for over a week. I was unable to work and being self employed this was a loss of £1500. While the restaurant handled our request and investigated they came back to us, said they didn't find anything and didn't want to refund us for the meal. Funny that as there's plenty of other reviews about food poisoning from the seafood. This isn't an isolated incident. In general, the food was ok, but not worth the £200 we paid. The steak was over salted and the desserts weren't any better than you'd get from a pub. If you've had a similar experience, the only option is to contact the council which can be done through https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/reportfoodsafety

We came to Gost for the first time tonight. Ewan was beyond helpful in answering our questions about the menu and was very attentive during our drinks and meal, making sure we had everything we needed. Excellent service, food and atmosphere! Will be coming again!

Be cautious about the bill; they're adding more than your order. Last night, our bill was overcalculated by £280! If one of our friends hadn't checked it, we could've ended up paying over £850 instead of the expected £600+ for 9 people. Also, the service was slow.
