Update: Sapanish butcher lunch again: This is one of our favourite restuarants in the town. Like all our previous visits everything , food , service and ambiance was perfect. This was our first time visiting in a while due to the pandemic. This was a birthday celebration lunch and it was perfect. As with all our previous visits the food and service was perfect. The informal yet sophisticated atmosphere is excellent. Our server was excellent. She gladly explained all the dishes and provided us with recommendations. This is the reason it is so hard to get a reservation at weekends. We will definetely be returning , hopefully very soon.

Really looking forward to a unique meal for our anniversary as it turned out we got put in a very small table, we ordered then got told there was a power cut so we would not get our meal, then 5 mins later got told our meal had just been made in time..Then endured a fire alarm for most of night and temperature was that cold it was a relief when we got told desert was not an option as Ice cream would not have been a good option to say the least as it was very expensive we were not overly impressed to say the least.

Being Spanish it is not the best thing to go to a Spanish restaurant in Glasgow… but in this case the general rule is broken. It is a high quality site. Top product (premium Galician meat), fantastic wine with option by carafe (half a bottle) (Rioja), spectacular croquettes, fantastic dessert (cheesecake). Very good service. Good atmosphere (maybe a little dark). 100% recommended. I have gone twice already.

Lovely venue. The decor and vibe is great and the food is delicious. We arrived about an hour early and they let us sit at the bar. The barman was brilliant with good banter and actual knowledge of making cocktails. Servers were also really friendly. The menu is a bit confusing needing some maths skills but it tasted amazing.

After hearing good things about this place I was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately I was very disappointed 😞. Ordered the Scottish fillet which was very tough and the pepper sauce tasted bitter. Starter was nice although its difficult to justify paying £17 for 3 scallops. We did make our server aware and he was apologetic advising that the steak may have been tough due to a "bad batch". A restaurant that specialises in steak should surely have a tried and tested quality supplier. At least I gave this place a try but unfortunately I won't return.

Almost very good. We didn’t book and arrived around 9pm. They did a good job to accommodate us. Both had prawns to start, very meaty but lacked a little bit of flavour. Asked for the steak (Galician Fillet) medium rare but it came out well done. Attempt number two didn’t get it right either, more of a medium. They offered to take off the service charge however I had no issue with the service as our server was great. Spoke to the manager and agreed that it was the £42 steak that should be taken off and not for the stake to be removed (why punish the server when it was the meal itself). They also offered us two single malts as further compensation. It’s a shame I didn’t get to enjoy the steak as a medium rare but happy with the way it was dealt with in the end.

Absolutely incredible meal, way and above the nicest steak I've ever had. Everything was cooked to perfection, we had a variety of steaks and the Presa Ibérico pork which was delicious. Our server Manuela was excellent, very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful with recommendations. Two of our party are coeliac and the vast majority of the menu was suitable and there was no concerns at all about being gluten free. Couldn't fault the place in anyway. It is expensive but you get what you pay for. 10/10.

One of the challenges my husband and I faced while traveling in Scotland is finding a late supper. Many places close the kitchen at 9PM. We tried three places before we came upon the Spanish Butcher, where we could only order some appetizers at the bar since we had no reservation. We shared a charcuterie board with delicious meats, olives and cheeses and amazing beef sliders with bone marrow over a carafe of Spanish red wine. Our best meal in Glasgow. We came back for lunch the next day, easier to get a reservation, and enjoyed a lean cut of Galician beef and dessert to celebrate our last day in the city. One of our servers for lunch, Manuela, was very charming. If you are looking for good food in Glasgow, this is the right neighborhood.

For me the restaurant would be for a special occasion or treat as it’s an expensive night out .

Just went for lunch, there's a good wee lunch menu deal. Slider starters were good, decent portion too, didn't need the (delicious!) sourdough bread appertiser in hindsight. My hake was very good. Sons rump steak was spot on. He had churrosnto finish also delicious. Great service, good vibe inside. Worth paying wee bit extra for this place if you are looking for a bit of quality food in the city centre. Will be back for sure.

I’ve been here a few times now and love it so much. It is defo on the expensive side but totally worth it for a special night out. To start we had the scallops and grilled octopus - both were so tasty! Then as the main we shared the rare Galician chateaubriand with manchego fries, mushrooms. Garlic sauce and peppercorn sauce. It was honestly perfect (if I had to be picky I’d say the mushrooms could’ve been hotter) then we shared the churros to finish. One of my fav steak restaurants

First time eating here and I will not be back. Restaurant is nice, very relaxing, staff were good. We headed here with having a steak on our mind but the Sunday beef roast looked good so we opted for this. Big mistake. Our starter was lovely but the the roast was like something from a Little Chef carvery. Meat was like rubber and the roast potatoes were undercooked! Nothing other than the starter was good. To make things worse my water glass had lipstick on it. Really disappointed. Been hearing a lot of great things about this place but sadly it fell well short.

Hands down one of the best steak restaurants and experiences I’ve had in Glasgow. Place is very classy. The staff were so knowledgeable on the steaks. We ordered a prime rib to share it was beautiful. The chiefs advised that we should have it medium as we normally have it medium rare, but said they would try get it as close. Chef knows best about these cuts so we agreed. It was beautiful, sides were lovely too. Hostess was great. I will be back in the future to try another cut of a different steak. It’s a must try for a special occasion

I rarely do reviews, but unfortunately, this time, I have to. I 've been on Tuesday lunch with a friend, and we had octopus, scallops, and carpaccio as a starter, then 500gr of chateaubriand, it was very chewy. It used to be my favourite steak house in Glasgow. Very sad, the manager didn't really care about it .

Wow absolutely beautifull food mainly steak but to be fair one pork&fish option. Could the place do with a grey ceiling instead of black ? Yes the black ceiling and lighting do make it appear dark...............however the food is wonderfull staff are really helpfull the meat just melts in your mouth.........actually the Spanish butcher does feed your mind&soul........and does exactly what it says on the tin!!........if you do not want spanish beer or galiccian steak ............please do not go........we will come back.

Last night was our Wedding Anniversary, my wife and I. We had a Galician Chateaubriand steak medium rare, 500g shared between two. It was absolutely delicious, best I've ever had. The starter was mixed charcuterie for two, again, flavours were superb, the mix was delicious, the wee suprises- hot mini garlic potatoes with cream inside a ball deep fried- were great, the olives were so delicious. We had a lovely cocktail to start and a Spanish ganache / merlot, also. The sides were mushrooms and garlic potatoes, the whole was filling and again, very delicious! The only thing I found difficult and slightly off- putting was light bulbs above us, one line was fairly bright, the other very dull. So the overall lighting felt a bit dark, but you definitely got used to it. Price wise, folk are reviewing and complaining but I say, you definitely get what you pay for, and it is not as expensive as restaurants in the west end of Glasgow ( naming no names but a certain India is one....) plus last night's service, in spite of a very busy clientele from Troon's Open Golf competition, was for us wonderful, waiters, both the introductory male excellent explanation, and the evenings attentive young lady, were fantastic. Altogether, I cannot recommend The Spanish Butcher enough. Especially the staff, even watching the chefs through the window was great, they gave out a perfect air of professionalism and they looked like a very efficient, happy well- led team. Both my wife and myself have experience, my wife runs her own cafe as head chef, I was a chef when I was younger, so I reckon what I have described, is a damned good restaurant. Go there, go there Now! 😁👍

We were really looking forward to having a steak professionally cooked for us but sadly that part of the night was disappointing. We ordered a Scottish Chateaubriand and it was bland and a bit tasteless, making it over priced for what we got. We did enjoy our starters and the staff were really helpful but the star should have been the steak. I also felt there was a lack of attention to detail on the way to the toilet with spare furniture stored in a couple of places taking away from the overall ambience of the restaurant.

Slick, efficient and welcoming. The food was amazing, two of our party had Galacian steaks and appreciated the stronger, more like venison flavours. The 3rd person had hake, with superb sauce, garlic potatoes and veg and it was so full of flavour. The deserts, cheesecake and almond tart, were delucious. Service was very attentive and explained the menu process clearly. A little on the pricey side but well worth the money. Look forward to going back sometime.

First time here, a family of 3 for a celebration dinner. Menu can look confusing but is well explained by your waiter. Can't fault anything about the evening. From first entering the service was excellent and the food was outstanding. When requesting another knife, we were even given a tray with a choice! Definitely be back...

Quite possibly the best food I've had in a long time. The olives and sourdough were to die for, we had sliders and beef short-rib for starters and a beef roast dinner and prime rib with mac and cheese and chips for main and churros and cheesecake for dessert, Could not fault, 10/10. The staff were lovely, the atmosphere was cosy and inviting the food was cooked and seasoned to perfection and even the toilets were immaculate. I would highly recommend this restaurant, especially for special occasions, as the experience would make for a perfect evening.

Visited last week after son's graduation. Waitress was rude. If you happen to be a individual who is not a big meat eater then this is not the place for you. I found the surroundings dark, too noisy with unpleasant smell. The other people in the party enjoyed it. Over priced and over rated. I will not visit again.

OMG one of the best meals I have ever had!! Crouquettes to start, delicious and flavorsum and hit the spot whilst waiting on the main event with my husband. We then also shared the main, which was the porterhouse steak sharer. It was absolutely outstanding and cooked to perfection!! Truffle fries were delicious and cooked just right and had another side of garlic mushrooms and 2 sauces which were the peppercorn sauce and garlic butter. Food was defo 10/10 and our server, Andy, was amazing and very informative. Definitely get yourselves here peeps 😉😄

Restaurant is very nice inside, nicely spaced tables so you don't feel crammed in. Music wasn't too loud. Cool decor. Decided to eat from the Ala Carte Menu. Our lovely waiter explained the menu to us as it was our first visit. He took time to explain the different options, which was great. We plumped for the Padron Peppers and the Jamon Croquetas to start. Just fantastic. We shared a Galacian Chateaubriand (600g) with 2 sides and 2 sauces. Was cooked to perfection and was more than enough for two people. The mojo verde sauce was soooo good. It was a glorious meal, cooked to perfection and the service was spot on too. Didn't have room for dessert (next time.) Price wise, I would say that it's on a par with similar style restaurants but definitely worth it. On leaving we also realised that you don't have to eat in the restaurant, there is a bar area where you sit and enjoy a drink and order nibbles too!

Outstanding steaks at the Spanish butcher! Started out with the sliders and padron peppers, both of which were great. We were persuaded into trying the pork over your standard beef steak, and this was 100% worth it. The salt crust on the meat was outstanding and full of flavour. The sharer steaks come with 2 x sides and 2 x sauces. We went for peppercorn, which was rich and really tasty, as well as the Mojo Verde that was punchy and refreshing. Personally, the meat did not need any sauce at all, but it's still nice to have. We also had the fries and mac & cheese which were great. They weren't the biggest portions but after a plate full of meat you don't need too much on the side! It's not the cheapest, but it is worth every penny.

Very disappointing special occasion meal with a rude staff member. I spent a long time looking at reviews and chose The Spanish Butcher for a special occasion. Arrived 8.30pm and ordered 3 steaks and 1 burger. The friendly waitress explained that as we weren't ordering starters, there would be a wait for steaks due to the need for them to rest; no problem. We ordered 3 glasses of champagne. 45 minutes later, our food arrived. 2 steaks were ordered medium-rare and were delivered almost well-done. As these were £40 each, and this is a steak restaurant, I expected better and asked to return our steaks. The waitress apologised and explained new steaks would be cooked. 30 minutes later the new steaks arrived. These were cooked correctly (very different from previously) however the potato side had also been re-prepared and was now extremely undercooked. Fed up and hungry, we ate the steaks provided and ignored the potato. The waitress apologised in the interim and replenished 2 champagne glasses and explained dessert would be on the house. 2 desserts were ordered by our table, which were just okay. We then requested the bill. The bill had one dessert on it, and I called a waiter over and explained we had been told that due to our poor experience, desserts would be on the house. He abruptly explained that only the people who sent the steaks back would get free desserts and, as my father had eaten his steak, his dessert was not free. This seemed slightly ridiculous as I could have ordered the dessert and slid it across the table to him in which case. I explained I wasn't happy with this and asked for the dessert to be removed. I also explained that the two additional glasses of champagne we had been provided were not wanted (still full glasses at the time of paying the bill) and I would prefer if the value of 2 of the glasses we had actually ordered could be removed from the bill. At this point, the waiter made a bad situation worse by his customer service. He rolled his eyes, grunted and snatched the bill from me and walked off. When he returned, my husband asked if he could check the new bill, which the waiter did not seem happy to wait for. When paying, the card machine would not work, and without apology he just kept asking us if we had another card to pay with, which we did not. He eventually obtained another card machine and we paid. Terrible body language and customer service from this waiter, which just made the whole experience worse than it needed to be. Spoilt our special day.

First pff, service was great, no fault there. Sharing starter was spot on. We ordered 2 medium sirloins. One was mostly gristle but cooked as requested. The other was the rare side of rare, which I had no problem in eating but not really what I wanted, not sent back as I didn’t want the other meal to go cold. Manchego cheese has no place on chips. Out booth was so dimly lit you couldn’t see the food, not sure why it’s that dark! Heard good things but didn’t live up to the hype, certainly not for the money anyway.

We came for the weekend from Birmingham and chose this restaurant as we wanted to have a special dinner on Saturday night. Everything was just perfect from food to the staff! The meat was cooked exactly how we wanted. The sides and the starters were perfect. We were served by Rajan and he really welcomed us and made us feel very comfortable along with all the other lovely staff! This restaurant exceeded our expectations and I decided to come here and write a review. We will definitely come back and recommend to our friends in Glasgow!

First time eating here after the restaurant was recommended to me. It is a modern stylish restaurant with a good atmosphere. Service was excellent, the staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about the food on offer and took time to answer any questions we had before deciding what we would order. We ordered the Galician Rub Eye to share. It was cooked exactly as we had asked and it was fantastic. Prices are decent and around what you would expect to pay in a good restaurant. This was reflected in the quality of the food and in the standard of the service. If you have not tried eating here I would definitely recommend that you pay them a visit.

Highly recommend the 2 or 3 course Sunday Lunch - lamb and beef were perfectly cooked and the yorkshire pud was impressive. The jamón Ibérico croquetas and the mushroom soup starters also both hit the spot. The desserts were very well received. Churros, perfect crunch achieved and served with chocolate sauce, and the absolutely heavenly Santiago almond tart and ice cream - both dishes faultless. Cocktails were great and the servers achieved the balance of being attentive without being annoying.

Lovely atmosphere, 3 Course meal for 2 was £175 - bit pricy - including a couple of glasses of wine. Staff were very friendly and the steaks were delicious! (9/10) Portion size on the sides was a tad small given they were not expensive items . Felt there wasn’t enough to go with the meal. Chilli Gambas Starter was nice but not exceptional for flavour (7/10). Would I go back? - maybe!

I had a reservation at this restaurant during my weekend visit to the city, unfortunately on arrival the restaurant was closed, apparently because it had flooded. The unfortunate thing about the situation is that no one gave notice of this and they simply closed and had no consideration for the reservations they had previously accepted. Also when we arrived at the place, to celebrate my partner's birthday, a member of staff (apparently the manager) came out onto the street, as all of the people with reservations were outside and he was a bit rude in his treatment, I imagine due to the stress of the situation. Anyway, apparently it's a good place to eat, but unfortunately I had a really bad experience.

We had a reservation for my birthday on 23/02/2023 @ 20:15. When we arrived at the restaurant it was closed due to a flood in the basement and the waiter/manager told us they called all the guests earlier to advise but we did not receive a call or any form of communication. We also experienced an air of attitude at the door with a very weak apology. Appalled to say the least.

Our first visit here and would highly recommend. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable, able to offer really good advice. Food was excellent! We had the charcuterie to start which was a tasty lite starter. The Chateaubriand we shared was delicious and cooked perfectly to how we asked. Will definitely come again for a special occasion.

This was our 1st visit to Spanish Butcher and we wasn’t disappointed. Everything was really good from the welcome when we arrived, the food and service. Myself and my hubby shared the chateaubriand got it cooked medium which I like but Barry thought it was a bit under however the staff were more than happy to re tire it and he said it was perfect. My mother in law had the lamb and she said it was delicious. Our deserts were also really good churros with chocolate which came decorated for my birthday and mother in law had the pear and almond tart. Our server was fantastic really helpful and pleasant. Really great value for money and looking forward to going back again

Friday lunch treat time again..Spanish Butcher selected. 2 course set lunch for £21 got us starters of very good, plump, mussels in a nice garlicky broth tinged with cream as well as jamon croquettes for Mrs TT which was pronounced as v.g. Mrs TT chose the rump steak (£5 supplement) whilst TT went for the Abanico Iberico de Bellota dark meat pork dish which was something new and was both a bit different and delicious ( more like beef in texture and beautifully tender...griddled so a nice touch of charring ...also a supplement, £3 in this case and, like the steak, worth it). We drank a couple of the lower end wines which were very respectable. We also shared a slice of almond tart with v.g. vanilla ice cream. The place is smartly decked out and the staff are very efficient and professional. A very good asset for the City Centre restaurant scene.

We totally loved this place, we pre booked and were given a large table to sit at. We had the 5-8 slot. We ordered drinks to the table and all chose which food we wanted. There were quite a few different vendors available to choose from. You’re given a buzzer and go back to collect when ready. There was a really good atmosphere here, music was good and they were showing Xmas films on the big screen.

Bucks bar is our favourite place for a Chicken burger. Cracking place with honestly, the best food I can think of. Never had anything other than awesome food, nice staff and an amazing setting. Looking forward to our next visit.
