Perfect for meat eaters. Staff are very knowledgeable, friendlt and efficient. Best steak I've had for ages.

We came for the weekend from Birmingham and chose this restaurant as we wanted to have a special dinner on Saturday night. Everything was just perfect from food to the staff! The meat was cooked exactly how we wanted. The sides and the starters were perfect. We were served by Rajan and he really welcomed us and made us feel very comfortable along with all the other lovely staff! This restaurant exceeded our expectations and I decided to come here and write a review. We will definitely come back and recommend to our friends in Glasgow!

Lifechanging steak, cracking vibe and staff always look after you. Prices are steep but worth it as you're getting a top tier dinner.

First time eating here after the restaurant was recommended to me. It is a modern stylish restaurant with a good atmosphere. Service was excellent, the staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about the food on offer and took time to answer any questions we had before deciding what we would order. We ordered the Galician Rub Eye to share. It was cooked exactly as we had asked and it was fantastic. Prices are decent and around what you would expect to pay in a good restaurant. This was reflected in the quality of the food and in the standard of the service. If you have not tried eating here I would definitely recommend that you pay them a visit.

Highly recommend the 2 or 3 course Sunday Lunch - lamb and beef were perfectly cooked and the yorkshire pud was impressive. The jamón Ibérico croquetas and the mushroom soup starters also both hit the spot. The desserts were very well received. Churros, perfect crunch achieved and served with chocolate sauce, and the absolutely heavenly Santiago almond tart and ice cream - both dishes faultless. Cocktails were great and the servers achieved the balance of being attentive without being annoying.

Lovely atmosphere, 3 Course meal for 2 was £175 - bit pricy - including a couple of glasses of wine. Staff were very friendly and the steaks were delicious! (9/10) Portion size on the sides was a tad small given they were not expensive items . Felt there wasn’t enough to go with the meal. Chilli Gambas Starter was nice but not exceptional for flavour (7/10). Would I go back? - maybe!

Good restaurant for meat lovers

We had a reservation for my birthday on 23/02/2023 @ 20:15. When we arrived at the restaurant it was closed due to a flood in the basement and the waiter/manager told us they called all the guests earlier to advise but we did not receive a call or any form of communication. We also experienced an air of attitude at the door with a very weak apology. Appalled to say the least.

I had a reservation at this restaurant during my weekend visit to the city, unfortunately on arrival the restaurant was closed, apparently because it had flooded. The unfortunate thing about the situation is that no one gave notice of this and they simply closed and had no consideration for the reservations they had previously accepted. Also when we arrived at the place, to celebrate my partner's birthday, a member of staff (apparently the manager) came out onto the street, as all of the people with reservations were outside and he was a bit rude in his treatment, I imagine due to the stress of the situation. Anyway, apparently it's a good place to eat, but unfortunately I had a really bad experience.

£40 for Galician fillet way over priced, especially given average service and average wine. Very disappointed.

Probably the best steak restaurant in Scotland. Always a first class experience. The food is beyond description. Albert made this particular visit very nice with absolute professionalism and genuine friendliness.

Our first visit here and would highly recommend. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable, able to offer really good advice. Food was excellent! We had the charcuterie to start which was a tasty lite starter. The Chateaubriand we shared was delicious and cooked perfectly to how we asked. Will definitely come again for a special occasion.

This was our 1st visit to Spanish Butcher and we wasn’t disappointed. Everything was really good from the welcome when we arrived, the food and service. Myself and my hubby shared the chateaubriand got it cooked medium which I like but Barry thought it was a bit under however the staff were more than happy to re tire it and he said it was perfect. My mother in law had the lamb and she said it was delicious. Our deserts were also really good churros with chocolate which came decorated for my birthday and mother in law had the pear and almond tart. Our server was fantastic really helpful and pleasant. Really great value for money and looking forward to going back again

Friday lunch treat time again..Spanish Butcher selected. 2 course set lunch for £21 got us starters of very good, plump, mussels in a nice garlicky broth tinged with cream as well as jamon croquettes for Mrs TT which was pronounced as v.g. Mrs TT chose the rump steak (£5 supplement) whilst TT went for the Abanico Iberico de Bellota dark meat pork dish which was something new and was both a bit different and delicious ( more like beef in texture and beautifully tender...griddled so a nice touch of charring ...also a supplement, £3 in this case and, like the steak, worth it). We drank a couple of the lower end wines which were very respectable. We also shared a slice of almond tart with v.g. vanilla ice cream. The place is smartly decked out and the staff are very efficient and professional. A very good asset for the City Centre restaurant scene.

Quality of food and service was very first class and there was a good range of authentic Spanish food and drink available. As with most restaurants the wine is vastly over priced which I find annoying Although the food was expensive it was well worth it.

The food was absolutely amazing and I will definitely be returning soon. If you're looking for outstanding food and impeccable service, this is the place to go.

Nice place for steaks in Glasgow

Came here for my birthday last week. We were given a nice little table in the corner where my wife and I could sit at an angle rather than across. Food and service was amazing and to top it off, they surprised me with a little birthday plate with message on it. Not sure if my wife had said it was a birthday celebration when booking or how they knew, but it was a lovely touch. Spanish Butcher is my my favourite restaurant in Glasgow!

If you’re looking for quality steaks and service The Spanish Butcher is the place to go. The staff are very knowledgeable and attentive to their customers. The steaks and sides are top notch and well presented by the chefs There is a great selection of wines and spirits. Definitely a place not to miss if you enjoy your food.

My last experience here pre pandemic was so-so, but I decided to give it another go and I was glad I'd done so as my very good. It's a large pleasant space, ideal for romantic evenings withg its dimmed lighting. Popular, even in Januaru. The staff were warm and effecient, in the Glasgow manner. I had a two course meal, with wine. The starter, scallops, was cooked to perfection with samphire and tomatoes. Simply delicious. For the main, I chose a sirloin steak, cooked pink. It was slightly underdone for my taste, but not sufficiently for me to send it back. Very flavoursome, with garlic/paprika potatoes. All in all, a very nice meal in attractive surroundings, and next to my hotel!

Absolute arrogance. My wife made a booking almost a week ago and put a request into her booking asking for Halal meat. Booking was for today. The ignorant and arrogant Andrew (I'm assuming manager) calls and tell my wife "sorry I've just been too busy and only just saw your note now, we normally need 48 hours notice for Halal meat"..... To which my wife responded "well I did make the booking 5/6 days ago" To which he replied again saying "well I have over 300 bookings to deal with, you should've called" And that was the end of that Convo! What horrible service. I'll never understand why businesses don't think about the repercussions of bad service in this day in age. Well done on losing a customer and for gaining a terrible review. With 3 on a business trip we wanted to have dinner here. So just walked in at a Tuesday night; packed, no table. So, one needs to make reservations and we did for the next evening. Staff recognized us as the group that made the reservation, atmosphere is comfortable relaxing and so is the staff. They explain the menu and make clear what is available, of course not all is available as everything is fresh. Expensive? Mwaoh, that depends what you know about meat prices. I know a kilo Rubia Gallega will cost around £ 50 ex VAT so I think if you serve this in your restaurant at double price that’s really very customer friendly. Side dishes too choose from, you can add whatever you want. And when all is served the quality is amazing. I’ve grilled more than my share of quality ribeyes, porterhouse steaks but what this kitchen drops at your table is just insane. If you’re into fantastic tasting meat just book your table a day in advance. Tip; check the menu and pre order the meat you want to enjoy with your group so you won’t see that ‘86-et’. Either way; you can’t go wrong in whatever meat choice is left. Excellent value for money.

I've heard many good things about the Spanish butchers over the years and they did not disappoint. The food was so tasty and fresh. I could honestly have eaten 10 portions of the jamon croquettes they were that good. Friendly staff and a very chilled atmosphere.

We attended the restaurant for my husbands birthday. The staff were very attentive and polite. The restaurant is tastfully decorated and has a warm feel. The steak we shared was delicious and cooked to perfection. I would definitely recommend.

The food was good. The steaks were cooked exactly as we like. Where we were seated was a bit cold and on the dark side for our liking. With hindsight, we should probably have asked to be moved. The seating area closer to the kitchen would probably have been a better option for us.

Best jamon croquettes I've ever had and steak was nice.

What a incredible experience from the moment we arrived (albeit the table wasn't ready but that's ok) I believe our server was Stefano, this guy needs a raise! He had so much knowledge of the menu from the steaks and the flavours, sides, sauces and how the bone marrow is cooked. He went above and beyond. The steak for our party of 4 (one had a burger but was equally very happy with it!) Was cooked to perfection and how we asked for it. Bone marrow for me was a let down, underwhelming but that's a personal preference as I'm not sure what flavour I expected. Otherwise I highly recommend this place for a good steak and truffle fries. Perhaps offer truffle fries with the burger too though? Think they miss out with the skinny fries instead! Thank you Stefano for such a pleasant experience, just wish the tip went directly to him! Pictured is the bone marrow and scotch fillet. Others had the galacian which they said was well worth the money.

Restaurant has a lovely interior. The food was delicious and the steak perfectly cooked. The smoked salmon starter was a bit bland and presentation was odd. The panacotta was really good though. The service was quite disappointing in comparison to the food, and not very attentive. Overall a good option for a special occasion.

Cracking restaurant could not fault the food or the service, our waiter was very friendly and his knowledge of the menu was excellent. Was busy for a lunch time but this did not affect the service.

We had visited back in October for dinner. The restaurant is very nice inside but we were not very impressed by the quality of the meat and the portion size. It was cooked very well but the value for money needs to be revisited.

The octopus starter was delicious. The beef we had was cooked to perfection with the garlic butter sauce complementing wonderfully. Highlights for the sides were the mac n cheese, and the roasted potatoes.

Amazing food, great service and atmosphere! However, I would say for the ladies to be careful when wearing heels to this venue! The floor is very soft and slippery 😅

Two of us were in town for a gig and stumbled across this fine establishment by chance. So glad we found it. We had a late lunch of mixed iberico meats, (sublime) and then sirloin and Galician filet. Truffle fries were delicious. Service was sharp, efficient and friendly. Ambience was just fine too. Well done all. We’ll be back for more next time we’re in town. Please open one in London.

Visited the Spanish Butcher for a lunch time weekday meal, and it was absolutely phenomenal. From the moment you walk in the staff give you their full attention and this continues throughout your visit. The set weekday lunch menu has plenty of choices and is fantastic value for money. All the food was tremendous and cooked to such high quality. We will certainly be back.

Dinner for our family with friends from Brighton. Greeted warmly and an extra guest easily accommodated. Good food choice, especially as two vegetarians in our group. Fantastic service from Rajan (hope that’s spelled correctly!) We all loved our food - not surprisingly the steaks were really delicious. We all loved the ambience and had a memorable and fun night. Literally the best steak I have had in the UK. Everything about this place is just amazing. The ambience adds a posh feel to this place. Getting reservations can be a challenge as it’s a very busy place.

Take their lunch set menu: street corn is amazing! However, the rump steak is just okay - good but not that surprising. Almond tart is good also they have a good red wine from Rioja. I will come back to try other types of steak :)

The Scorch Chateaubriand was unbelievable. The croquettes are a must to start. The wine is gorgeous too, definitely a pricier venue but so worth it with the atmosphere and service too.

Great Sunday roast - really good quality beef

I was excited to go here and reserved but the lighting just made me uncomfortable. I just hate not being able to see my food when I'm eating it. The food was good but the overall experience was only average because of the lighting.

I had a nice time but I'm not sure I'll be back. To start I almost walked passed, there's very little hint as to anything behind the outer black facade. Inside the ambience and staff were perfect, really top notch on this aspect and product description and knowledge were good. The food is were it all falls down. I had Scallops and Monkfish tail (which our server said was the best thing on the menu, if you weren't having steak) whist both were cooked very well the flavours were a bit of a let down. I actually didn't like the Scallops, although I appreciate taste is a personal preference. The monkfish was better but neither of the dishes had any standout flavours or tastes, seasoning wasn't great either. To reiterate my initial comment I had a nice time and it wasn't and awful meal. I'm just not sure the food lives up to the rest of the experience or the price.

We came to Glasgow on our Mini moon and on our first night found The Spanish Butcher. It was a Monday night but there was a great atmosphere in the room and a good amount of people in there (generally a great sign). The food was great - high quality. We had Galician Steak, Medium with peppercorn sauce, garlic mushrooms and potatoes. Both of us thought the food was delicious. What really made our experience was the service. Mel was our waitress and she was amazing. When she heard it was our Mini-moon she brought over some fizz. She also wrote us a list of recommendations for our time in Glasgow.
