I have dined in Glasgow for years and had a lot of very good experiences. This place is a little gem and the best meal in Glasgow av had hands down. Special mention to the head chef who explained perfectly about all the different cuts and made us feel very welcome he is a credit to the restaurant. Can’t speak more highly of the place.

Me and my partner booked a table for the Tomahawk Tuesday deal, highly recommend!! Such a nice and relaxed atmosphere on a Tuesday evening, and shout out to our lovely server, Joe, who was super friendly and attentive ❤️ We hope to be back soon!

Had a fantastic meal with my son. We had the croquettes and the hamburger spring roll. Amazing and big too👍 followed by the chatubriand.. what can i say. Perfectly pink, perfectly tender. The sauces we had was the chorizo bernaise and the Diane. Plus marks, though so miss the bordalaise. Sides was dauphinoise and mac n cheese.. only fault was one of the dauphinoise was a tad over cooked.. but all in all..i love this place. So will be back.

The servant did not inform us about the menu our order was 100gr meat but they have prepared 700gr meat which is too much for us, we could not eat evet half of it. Service was extremely slow.

Came for Tomahawk Tuesday and was amazed! Huge steak, tasted incredible and 2 sides included, all half price! I have steak everywhere I go and this was in the top 3 in the UK without a doubt! Staff were awesome too, and couldn't do enough to help. 100% need to try this place if you're in Glasgow.

We did have a lovely meal courtesy of a Christmas gift. The food was nice and the steak for me and my husband cooked to the requested texture. Our server Joe was very helpful and very attentive to us and helped make it a lovely experience.

By far the best steak dinner I have ever had, Joe served us - he spoke through everything on the menu and made me up a special cocktail which was devineeee. Went for the 10oz steak and I was blown away. I will be rolling home after that lol. Thank you so much will definitely be back!

It was quite disappointing. Out of the 3 starter options, one wasn’t available. Although the restaurant was far from full (only few tables occupied) once we finished eating, we were rushed to leave and couldn’t even finish our drinks, as they claimed they needed our table. Paying over £40 per person, I expected a much better experience. Honestly, the food wasn’t as good as I had hoped either. Definitely not worth it.

Was quiet so no atmosphere Food was good but maybe a bit overpriced Good service when arrived as never been before menu explained but then had to ask later on for a dessert menu Service charged added automatically but we weren't told ( I know this is the norm now) but you should be told

The beef was superb and the peppercorn sauce delicious as were the deserts, especially the vanilla ice cream, the bread is good however, the salads looked withered, the brocoli was not great, wine list is reasonably priced, Joseph who served us was attentive, pleasant and very friendly, the staff cleaned every table well as soon as a client left but the seating drastically needs cleaned. For beef dishes this restaurant is worth a visit.

We came as a family with a 10 month old baby girl to celebrate my husband's birthday...it was an excellent experience...food was exceptional. staff were friendly and helpful and mostly our granddaughter was welcomed in this restaurant. We will definitely return to try more choices and steaks. Thanks again for a good night

Had a fabulous night celebrating a family occasion made all the more special, not only by the sumptuous cuts of beef that crossed our paths, but the exemplary service provided by Lorena after a rather unfortunate mishap - if anything, her impeccable service and infectiously positive demeanour in the face of adversity enhanced our entire evening. Quality. Only 1 complaint - area was a bit cold but not freezing.

Booked for Sunday roast. The portion was small and missing potatoes on one plate and also given the wrong meat. Was very dry, asked for extra gravy and given a very small amount between 2 people. Couldn’t eat the Yorkshire puddings as they were too hard to cut through. Staff were friendly but won’t be back due to the quality of the food.

No Fillets left, and the Sunday Roasts were nice, but expensive. If we'd known there was no Fillets left at the time of bookimg online, we would have booked elsewhere.

Our first visit to The Merchant Steak House for my partners Birthday Celebrations did not disappoint. From start to finish the experience was brilliant - the service was friendly, informative and attentive without being over bearing. Our server was very knowledgable about all of the cuts of meat and we opted for the sharing board of the Porter House, Rib Eye and the Chateaubriand. The meats were cooked exactly to our liking and the sides and sauces were delicious! The maple carrots were beyond any carrot we have ever tasted. We will definitely be back to try some more of the amazing selections on offer.

Absolutely Fantastic Steak and Service I had an incredible dining experience at the merchant steak house. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. They were not only friendly but impressively knowledgeable about the menu especially the steaks. Our server Joe offered excellent recommendations based on our preferences and explained the different cuts and cooking techniques with real expertise. The steak itself was perfection cooked exactly to order, If you’re a steak lover or just someone who appreciates great service and attention to detail, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Good surroundings , excellent staff , great wine , unfortunately all let down our steaks which had not been properly rested leading to pools of blood on our plates, to top it all mine was also very chewy not what you would expect from a 50 days dry aged fillet steak in an up market steakhouse. Staff were apologetic and provided my partner with a cocktail on the house which was nice .

Took my family for a Sunday roast lunch. The food and service were excellent. The roast beef and the cauliflower steak were both winning dishes. Friendly and attentive staff - and great value for the 2 course set lunch. Definitely recommend

Had a lovely meal, went for the chateaubriand deal that is offered on a Thursday. We found this great value for money and the food was delicious. Our server Darcy was very helpful and it was a delight to be served by her! However, We found the host to be a bit rude and borderline cheeky if I’m honest. Started the meal with a sour taste due to this, but the food and service from our waitress made up for it.

Joe is an amazing waiter and went above and beyond! He is a true asset to the restaurant!

Overall, a great restaurant. We have the filet mignon steak with a side of mashed potatoes. The potatoes were a little dry, but everything else was great. Our server Emmanuel was wonderful and really attentive.

Lovely meal with great service in a lovely setting

I was very much looking forward to dining at The Merchant Steakhouse, but unfortunately my experience was underwhelming. The service was excellent, but the waiter was doing a very hard sell for the more expensive cuts and seafood toppers. The starters are overpriced, but the mains are in line with competitors. Unfortunately, both of our steaks were overcooked but still tasty, sides were lovely. The general vibe in the restaurant was a bit downmarket. Two sirloin steaks with two extra sides, and a bottle of wine, was £130 in total with the service charge.

Nice establishment Excellent grilled meats, side dishes too… Starters very little quantity, £12 for 3 pieces of dry croquettes! Ham and…….peas 🤦🏻 The butter is taken away from us even though we have paid for it and not yet finished… And finally, the coffee is undrinkable Rather long service…

We ordered our food and drinks and expected our drinks to come quickly and it came to 20 minutes of waiting and asked our waiter where they were and he checked and said something went wrong. we then had to wait another 10 minutes until drinks were served. Food arrived 10 minutes after the drinks and then had to wait 5 minutes for our chips to come out while our food was sat at the table getting cold. chips came and waiter did not warn us that the dish that they came in was scorching hot and my brother burnt his hand while bringing them closer to him. overall food was nice but expected better service.

This was our first visit to the Merchant Steakhouse for my partner's birthday and everything about the place was phenomenal. Joe was our waiter for the evening and his attention to our needs was impeccable. As soon as our glasses were starting to empty, he was over straight away to top them up. He was very knowledgeable on the menu and explained each item in great detail. The rest of the team were faultless too and the barman even made my partner a bespoke mocktail with a flavour profile of her choosing. The food was exceptional, one of the best meals we have ever had. We will definitely be returning and we couldn't rate this little gem any higher. Thank you.

What a great culinary experience! Our server, Joseph was excellent in both his explanation of the plates but also in his charm. He also gave us excellent referrals on other activities to experience in Glasgow.

Didn't know how to go about this review but here goes, I visited the Merchant steakhouse on Saturday the 15th march and where do I start. I will explain my next comments. Over priced, underwhelmed and would not recommend. So first off we had a reservation at 8pm. We where seated quickly and servers where very welcoming, BUT we were rushed. Within 15 minutes we got told that if we didn't order now we would have to wait as there was a table of 20 and if we didn't order it would be a while before we got to order, as we where celebrating my partner's birthday we felt this was not great service. So we ordered. Tomahawk steak which came with two sides and two sauces and we ordered two extra sides, my sister in law wanted a burger but they ran out in a steakhouse, but that was the case, she then ordered the chicken supreme. We where told that it would take around 40 minutes for the steak yet it came within 15 minutes, steak and sides no chicken though, we where then told of an issue with the ordering system which was fine they apologised and sorted ravioli for my sister in law and also to the credit of the staff did not charge us for the ravioli. We felt very rushed like they want the table or they where ready to close kind of vibes. Cost: tomahawk steak was £150 on its own, so tomahawk £150 two extra along with the two sauces and sides that it came with four drinks and one sparkling water meant the total bill was £240. Meaning the two extra sides, four drinks and a sparkling water came to £90. Would I recommend: NO over priced small portions and cost was not worth it. Will not be going back. It was a very expensive underwhelming experience rushed throughout and got home feeling hungry. The hype is not worth it very bad experience, and the worst part of my partner's birthday. Hope this helps you all decide (Nonna said) is way better less expensive and always leave feeling full and satisfied. Shame on you (Merchant steakhouse)

Special salute to fabulous Darcy, accompanied by Louis and Anton. Food recommendation was spot on, and drinks were fantastic! We’ll return again when back in Glasgow.. 10/10 hands down!

Amazing experience on 08/03/25 celebrating my partners 50th! From the minute we walked in it was first class. Delicious sirloin steak . The evening was made very special by the service we experienced. Kavi was amazing and looked after us very well. I have to mention Emmanuel , lovely and very friendly . Highly recommend. A good Sunday roast, from my original post, it wasn’t as good as it has been in the past, the carrots and parsnip was different that before more like the batons you buy in a bag & microwave & not quite enough gravy, which if I’d of asked I’m pretty sure they would of given me more. Service was better than it has been in the past. One let down was the chocolate brownie, it was cold, anywhere were ever had it, it was heated with the cold vanilla ice cream.. must remember if we go again to ask for it warmed up! My boy still ate it mind you! Starters on roast menu are ok, nothing to rave about, as are the desserts! Pop the peanut butter dessert back on! 😊

A very special experience for a birthday meal. All staff are lovely and very attentive but Aidan took care of our table and was fabulous. Thank you for the birthday prosecco and a 10/10 steak. We will definitely be back!
