Had a fabulous meal at the weekend. Huge rib eye steak special cooked to perfection, great atmosphere, lovely staff (the chef William took time to show us round the kitchen and explained provenance of their meat, Paul gave fab suggestion for wine, front of house staff so friendly). Highly recommend - you won’t be disappointed with food, service or relaxed atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back.

Brilliant night at the merchant steakhouse the chateaubriand was delicious, the salt & chilli popcorn is so good, the staff were so attentive and really looked after us, thanks again will definitely return.

Great afternoon out. First visit and it wont be our last. We chose from the market menu. Both our starters were delicious i had prawns and my friend had cheese croquets. Both had rump steak cooked to perfection with a delicious peppercorn sauce. The tomato that was served with the meal was one of the most tastiest i’ve ever had. Found out that they sun dry them on the premises. Finished meal off with chocolate torte and honeycomb icecream. Cant wait to go back

I found this place after a quick Google for steak in Glasgow, that wasn't a chain restaurant. This is by far up there with the nicest places I've eaten in Glasgow. Maybe on the more expensive side, but in my mind, fully justifiable with the quality and calibre of food and service. There wasn't a long wait for food, the food itself was fantastic, steak cooked exactly as I asked and the house made jus was a perfect accompaniment. The Mac and cheese was delicious, the available wine was good and the hosts were friendly and attentive. I will come here again when next in Glasgow, definitely. Update. Since visited again and service was lacking the detail I experienced in my first trip. The wait for food was longer than I'd expect, but the quality was still superb.

We had a booking for 4. We all opted for the Market Menu and it was absolutely excellent value. Food was amazing. Steaks cooked to perfection. Interior of the restaurant was stunning but the icing on the cake was the service. Everyone that was working on that day was extremely attentive. Special thanks to Joe who regularly checked in on us to ensure we had everything we needed.

Absolutely delicious meal. New favourite steak place! Complementary champagne to celebrate our double birthday bash was a lovely touch. Steak was cooked to perfection!

Yet Another excellent meal with super service

Had a steak fillet with some sides and a Sunday roast. The steak was great, the only remark is that the wild field mushrooms side was just chestnut mushrooms. Given the price I am giving 4 stars as some details were just missing (green beens still had stems attached, no dressing on lamb lettuce, nothing to warrant the price in plain chestnut mushrooms). The toilet needs an update. Service was great at the start (we were served by the two male servers at the beginning) but not as much once we were served the meal, we several times had to spend 5-10 minutes trying to get the waitresses attention while we were only one of 3 tables. It seemed like then the waitress was in charge who was almost avoiding eye contact.

Another family dinner at The Merchant Steakhouse and yet again it did not disappoint. Such a warm welcome when you arrive and staff at all levels continually checking in. The food was amazing, no Wellington for us this time but time to try other dishes. The picanha was amazing, the Chateaubriand was cooked to perfection and the 55 day aged fillet was right on the money. The sides and sauces complemented wonderfully. Highly recommend the grilled sourdough snack with garlic butter that truly was garlic butter!! It was my son’s birthday and they marked it with 2 free cocktails which was a beyond good customer service. My only negative would be that some staff were a bit too quick to want clear away courses but we were the last table out so maybe we took too long savouring each course. So good to return to a restaurant a few times and find its food and service levels continue to soar. Well done and I don’t think I need to add that we will be back.

Had a great meal. Chateaubriand was excellent. The T bone was good. They even wrapped up the bone to take home for dog(thanks all). The sides were excellent. Agree with others the mac and cheese is exceptional. Chips were superb. The Argentinian sauce for the steaks was our favourite. We tried all sauces! Martini cocktails were of a high standard. The wine menu is missing "year" for the bottles and this is required for deciding. The table was a little shaky as drinks were swishing about when cutting the meat. Overall great and relaxed experience and food is to a very high standard. The service was friendly and attentive.

2nd time visiting and I can see this being our new favourite. The food is excellent 👌

Great restaurant, amazing food and good service Only con was our understanding was that bread and water would be complimentary, and the service charged, this catered for 30% of our bill which made it a lesser experience, but we know for next time

Everything from the welcome at the door onwards was fantastic about this place. The meat was the best I'd tasted for a very long time, beautifully cooked. Don't forget to order the mash, it was sublime. The star for us was Joe, the waiter. He was brilliant from start to finish, such a wicked sense of humour and had us in stitches!!!! He's a national treasure!! Would not hesitate to recommend and will definitely return.

The merchant steakhouse is a true gem. I ate there by accident one night and I have been obsessed ever since. Each dish is bursting with flavour and impeccably presented. I personally love the beef wellington (a stunning dish). What’s even more impressive is the market menu in the afternoon offering incredible value. I don’t know how they manage to charge such reasonable prices. The cocktails are also amazing and the staff are friendly and attentive, nothing is a bother to them. Thank you merchant steakhouse, you never disappoint

From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel not just welcome, but appreciated as guests. Cory behind the bar was fantastic, mixing cocktails for my wife and I perfectly, as well as offering two recommendations (and small tasters) of red wine to go with our steak - a fantastic and welcome touch, as it turned out that I preferred one and my wife the other! The rest of the evening we were in the hangs of Lyle. A fantastic host, friendly and effortlessly matching our mood and energy (and those of the other guests) as only the best can do. To cap it off, the best steak I’ve ever eaten (and my wife said hers was too). Thank you so much to everyone for giving us such a special end to our evening.

This was my first time here and I cannot believe how good it was. We were well looked after by Joe who was attentive throughout. We met the exec chef and manager who were equally attentive. Great service provided. Amazing food. Highly recommend

Staff was fantastic! as soon as we got through the door we were made to feel right at home. We had drinks at the lovely fully stocked bar whilst we waited for our seats witch didn't take long. The place looks amazing inside too. When the food came out we were very impressed with our order everything was cooked to perfection. With a great wine list to compliment any dish. If you haven't had the chance to try it. I suggest you get booking before everyone finds out how good it is. Great night with mouth watering food and a massive beer garden to be a great wee spot. This was our first time in The Merchant steak House. It was excellent. I would thoroughly recommend it. I had the prawn starter, steak and chocolate torte. The waiter was friendly and attentive. We will definitely return!

Wow. Probably one of the finest steaks meals we've had. One sirloin and one fillet - both perfect in every way. Great service. Attentive without being intrusive & the entire meal without fault (& were picky!) . Fantastic.

Great spot for a special dinner with your partner, family or friends. The food was excellent, top quality and delicious, served quickly and as requested. The wait staff were friendly and helpful but not overbearing as in some higher end restaurants. The wait for the bill was a little long as we did struggle to get someone’s attention but didn’t impact the evening negatively. If I was booking a table for two again, I would request one of the booths at the side of the room, as they have more table space and look across the restaurant.

First off, steaks were superb, and that's why we were there! 😀 (both had porterhouses) Personally, my black pudding that came with scallops was slightly overdone, but scallops were delicious. The steak tartare was beautiful! Can't fault our waitor, Joe. Very friendly, order taken promptly and food came quickly. Background music is why only 4 stars for atmosphere, it was just a smidge too loud. We'll definitely be back though!

This restaurant is absolutely Devine. Myself and my fiancé visited on the 16th of march, we managed to secure a table for 5pm. The service was outstanding only downfall was the server who brought our plates out for our chateaubriand wasn’t sure what the sauces were so we didn’t know who’s was who’s but that was the only critique. The food was outstanding and we’ve been to every steakhouse in Glasgow. The steak melted in your mouth, the sauces were delicious and the fries complemented them perfectly. Great wine and cocktail menu. Make sure to get the peanut butter pie for dessert! We will definitely be back.

Been a few times previous and always excellent, found the streaks were dry and usually juicy, and service was extremely slow.

Ive been to the steak house before i think its one of the best places for food the food is amazing the atmosphere is great its a place you can book for a birthday or an event but especially for date night the steaks are amazing best part

Good was incredible. All 6 of the party enjoyed their meals. The merchant 2/3 course menu has an amazing selection and the quality of the food could easily still be worth the money at double the price. Highly recommend.

First time here and the food was absolutely incredible. Starter to dessert. Can not wait to come back new fave place!

From the lessons I have learnt recently, these days I am preferring local steakhouses over the so called “chain steakhouses (well, at least some of them)”, and I am gald that I had tried this one in Ingram street. 1) Steak – Had Porterhouse and it’s the best I’ve ever had (10/10). 2) Starter – Roast Bonemarrow, not the traditional one on the bone but it’s good (7/10). 3) Drinks – Ordered house wine and it’s disappointing. I had to order a mocktail in order to washdown the wine! (3/10). 4) Service – Top notch. My skinny fries was soggy hence I told the staff and she had offered a fresh replacement to which I said no because it’s just fries anyway (9/10). (Could have taken off the fries from the bill but that didn’t happen though. Still I am giving the highest score) 5) Ambience – Nice music, well lit and just about the right indoor climate. 6) Overall – A 4 star experience. I would defintely recomment this place to anyone who care about quality steaks in Glasgow.

Had Saturday lunch with my son and had the 3 course, could not fault the food or the staff in any way . The steak was to die for and properly cooked . The soup was amazing and dessert was top notch . Well done the guys n gals at the Merchant steakhouse. Superb quality at affordable prices

Amazing food. Cannot wait to return. My partner had the scallops to start and I had the goats cheese. You could just tell you were eating high standard, fresh ingredients. Even the pesto was amazing. We then opted for the chateaubriand to share, which came with two sauces and two sides. Cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. Melt in the mouth. The fries and sauces were good too. My partner ordered the topper of lobster tails which the waiter let us know there was a problem with at first so would be a little longer. We didn’t mind but they then took it off our bill as we did wait a while. All of the staff were so attentive, friendly and helpful. The lobster, again was outstanding. I had a mocktail and my partner a few cocktails. He wanted to give a special mention to the Bloody Mary - it’s the best one he’s ever had. He asked for it spicy and it was just perfect. We shared a dessert off sticky date pudding. We cannot wait to return for more steak, bloody Mary’s and to try the other sides.

Had a fantastic meal here for a friend's birthday. The staff and food were absolutely superb. The restaurant was quiet and despite us being quite a noisy table of nine they couldn't be faulted from the food to the service. Will be back and would highly recommend.

Was walking past and noticed the lunch menu 3 courses for £18. I thought I will give that a try. It wasn't very busy when I entered so I thought this might be a bad sign that it's not busy. The waitress and manager made us feel welcome and got our drinks and manager made our choices easy. The starters came out very quickly and the food was amazing. The main was quickly followed and this was even nicer as was the dessert. I can't recommend highly enough how good, tasty and well presented the food was. The restaurant is very clean and the atmosphere is very relaxed and chilled. Thank you to the manager and staff for my first visit but won't be my last.

Nice quiet relaxed atmosphere, very tasty White Russian's and delicious steak. The Mac n' Cheese side was also particularly tasty. I feel like the pricing of the steaks is a little higher than expected simply based on the location of the restaurant being in Merchant City, but it was still a good meal.

We visited Saturday 17th February for my boyfriend’s birthday, we were greeted as soon as we walked in and told to have a cocktail at the bar while we waited. The bar and front of house service was amazing! We were seated quickly and was about another 10 minutes before someone came over and explained the menu and the specials. We then ordered our food which was sensational. Would definitely recommend this restaurant but be prepared for it to be quite loud.

Went last night and took a complete chance on somewhere I didn’t known about. An absolute find of a place. Great service and attention and the food was top class from start to finish. Mushrooms to die for. Just go there if you can and enjoy a great evening. Take people you love and care about. They’ll thank you for it.

Dinner date with my daughter. Everything was great. Although it is a Steakhouse I opted for Fish! Delicious and Well Presented. Staff were Efficient and Friendly. Definitely Worth A Visit!

This is my first time to eat a delicious and lovely meal in Glasgow! I really enjoyed the food, the only thing the music was very loud.

Had a lovely experience. Service was immaculate from all the staff. Daryl was excellent and Dervla was very attentive. The food was unbelievable. We shared the Chateaubriand which was incredibly tender and cooked to perfection. The cocktails were great too. We had a sazerac and a margheritta which were both amazing. Overall we had an amazing experience and cannot wait to dine with you guys again!

To be honest I was not going to leave a review, however I was sent an email asking to leave one, so here it goes. The prices are over priced. I've been to a few Steak Houses in my life and had better food with decent portions for half the price. We ordered two starters and a sharing main with two sides and the portions were not for sharing. A £15 bottle of wine was priced at £60 (they did not serve this wine by the glass) and was asked if we wanted water at the table and charged us £6 for it. Added a service charge and the bill was a couple of pounds shy of £200. There was no desserts or coffees ordered. On a positive side the food was lovely and the staff were attentive. However will not go back.

Food was amazing best haggis neeps and tattie starter I’ve ever had . I’ve always went to Hawksmoor in Edinburgh if I want a good steak but this is definitely comparable. Steak was done to my asking triple cooked chips were awesome and the buttered greens were cooked perfectly . We will be certainly seeing youse again soon . Thanks for a great dinner 😁

The most amazing meal i’ve ever had

What an amazing find , the food was superb and different The staff are lovely , so friendly and helpful , the chef ( Willie ) even came out for a chat when I quizzed him about the stornoway black pudding which he quite happily proved it was exactly as described on the menu . The bar staff were so friendly as well discussing the various options we had Will definitely return

We were invited back to The Steakhouse after a miss-fortunate meal previously. Daryl and his staff were very welcoming and the food was spot on this time. We had a wonderful meal, the steak were cooked to perfection. We were advised on the best wine for our meal and it was superb, a great recommendation. The sweets were sublime and ended a really great experience. Thank you and well done to the chef and all the staff for giving us a delightful meal. We'll be back.

Sauces could be improved. Bone marrow butter was just butter really. Tomahawk was tasty enough but had better for cheaper.

The food was lovely and presented very well. The sauces that came with both starters and mains are some of the best I've had. In particular the whiskey and Arran mustard jus with the haggis starter. Steaks were cooked well and exactly how we wanted. The only issue was that the mains were served quite quickly after the starters and also when one of us was not present at the table for a bit. Considering it was a very quiet evening there wasn't a reason to turn tables around as quick as perhaps on a busier night. The service was a little bit lack lustre and we felt like the team were maybe just getting through the shift. Perhaps it's just the style of service but it didn't feel as welcoming as we'd like it to have been. It wouldn't put me off coming back but still feel it's important to mention.

Lovely food, even as a vegetarian. Cracking soup, lovely risotto and fantastic sorbet. 10/10 would recommend

Had the 3 course Market Menu and was blown away by the quality of the food. Excellent value for money and would highly recommend. The staff were attentive and pleasant and we will definitely visit again.

Unfortunately, several items were off the menu, but the staff were lovely and made up for it with another option at no extra cost.

Food and cocktails were lovely. Took a while to order food though. I mentioned the 20% off email I had to the server when we sat down but this was not on the bill. I also ordered a glass of white wine which I had to remind the server about. Overall I enjoyed the evening but these things annoyed me slightly. It wasn't an inexpensive meal

We visited the Steakhouse at lunchtime today for a cheeky cocktail as they had been recommended to us, and we ended up staying for a delicious lunch. Great price for 2 and 3 courses and both the quality and service was amazing! Overall it has a super friendly vibe, combined with being rather trendy. I can’t actually fault one single thing! I’ll be back!

Can’t say how much we enjoyed our first visit to the merchant steakhouse, the food was great as was the ambience, but the service from the team was exceptional, Esther was so friendly and attentive as was Antoine and Lyle, thank you all for making our night feel extra special and for ensuring my cousin’s birthday dinner feel very special

Expensive and took a service charge. Did not have a selection of draft beers and no pint measure. Although what they said was a pint was expensive. Will not go back.

We happened to come across this lovely restaurant last night. We had not booked but the gent on the door could not have been more accommodating, even on a busy Saturday night. He gave us a lovely booth, and the service was great from start to finish. Our chateaubriand was cooked to perfection and the wine recomendation went perfectly with our steak. Would definitely dine here again, well done to all involved.
