Great customer service and excellent quality food. One of very few good chip shops left. Would highly recommend it. Bev in particular is amazing.

I normally get a jumbo fish every time i am in the north east , i got one on friday and it was terrible, the fish was not one piece , it was 2 separate bits and after putting the box on my lap to eat the fish with family , my leg was covered in oil from the fish not being drained properly. Also the fish had a really strange rubber chewy texture. Definitely not the great fish and chips i am used to from fenhsm fish bat

Got fish & chips with a side of mushy peas & curry Everything was cold ! Curry was too salty & chips were just scraps no proper chips at all. Very disappointing, won’t be using again especially when it’s not cheap !!!

Simply the best fish and chips shop North of the Tyne. Their scampi is just wonderful and their chips are tasty and not soggy. Fish is always in crisp batter unlike other places. Friendly service and yummy fish and chips. There is free parking space outside and at the side of the shop.

Fresh food lovely workers on the front. Could be a bit quicker during peak times. Ran out of chips twice while I was there... However that just says how good it is I guess! I got them fresh and hot. And eaten every last one! Was yum. Highly recommended!!! Best chippy this side of the river I'd say. (I've just come from London and can't get a decent chippy no where down south... So was lovely to come home to this) Update** still the best chippy in the north east, got the kids fish and chips meal, £4.50 was a bargain with a fruit shoot and bag of haribo... Lovely touch. Food is absolutely amazing and always consistent, best chippy in the north east, Doug is a lovely man. All the staff are super friendly Amy is my favourite. Highly recommend if you like good food!

The food is the best, can't fault it at all for taste. It's quite expensive as chip shops go and it closes ALL the time. Also it's the only food place I know where you can walk in hour before closing and get refused service. You wouldn't mind but they close early compared to most anyway. But the fish and chips are so good I keep coming back like a sucker. Anyway has potential to be the best of the best but gets let down due to opening hours and general service in my opinion. Scope to improve shall we say.

Chips dry and unless you ask for well done batter on fish undercooked last twice, wouldnt go back now. Most expensive one in area now too

Very expensive now couldn't believe the prices. Ordered Haddock was given cod absolutely tasteless. Will be going elsewhere from now on !

By far the best fish and chip shop around. The quality and variety of food is excellent. The service is fantastic. Most often there are queues but this only speaks volumes. However, the queue goes down really fast.

Favourite chippy by a mile, fish is a good size, also it’s always fresh and nice and white on the inside, the batter is always also fresh and light which shows that they use fresh clean oil regularly which makes a big difference, also chips are of great quality, fresh, soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, girls serving always friendly and have a smile on their face, will be back again!

Average food and very greasy, used to be so much better than it now. Good portion but could right my name on the grease after eating.

This used to be one fantastic place to visit, not now, as the food is not as good and the portions are way smaller even after they put their prices up, i believe that the oil isnt being changed as often as it should be as you can really smell it, we need the old staff back as only they can make this place GREAT again

Have been coming here for years, but tonight the cad bites were swimming in oil took a bite of one and the oil poured out. The chips were lovely but the cod bites went into the bin, for how much they cost I was very disappointed.

In a word, sublime! Absolutely beautiful batter (don’t know what the secret ingredient is but it’s cracking), gorgeous (meaty) fish, and always cooked to perfection. I have visited many, many fish & chips shops in the North East, at the coast, in sight of the sea etc. and Fenham Fish Bar is a real stand out. It’s fantastic. The Whitby haddock is amazing, so is their homemade tartar sauce, so are their mushy peas, so is the King Prawn sandwich. I could go on . . . my kids don’t leave a scrap. I am so lucky that I live close enough to go here, and only have to drive past four other chippies to get there. Keep being awesome. And thank you to the staff who are always rushed off their feet as the queue is out the door.

First visit to Fenham Fish Bar, Newcastle Upon Tyne due to recommendations from friends. On entering the building the friendly staff take your order as everything is cooked to order. There were a few people waiting for their orders but with 7 staff behind the counter it’s well organised and worth the small waiting time. The fish bar looks modern and very clean with a 5* hygiene award. We had Fish & Chips twice and a portion of curry sauce. We both found the meal very pleasing with the fish done in a light golden crispy batter. The portion of curry sauce came in a disposable cardboard container. Both stuffed and content. Probably the best Fish Bar in Newcastle

Only found about this chippie from a member of staff in a shop I had just been in. I was told it was the best chippie in the area by her and she even travels from Durham to have fish & chips from the shop....

Regular cod with chips. Two small cod with chips. Two large curry sauces. Sans salt, vinegar or batter. Exceptional! Simple as that. This is an exemplar chippy tea. Dunno who served me but let’s just the owner’s caught himself / herself a right little mermaid...

Really disappointed with my recent visit to fenham fish bar, I’ve been going to this fishy since being a young kid and my recent visit yesterday wasn’t good. First of all the price for two small fish and chips and mushy peas was scandalous at...

The fish and chips were hot and crunchy. The curry sauce was nice. The staff aren’t very smiley but I’ll let them off. It’s been a strange time. Thanks.

Love fenham fish bar but today was disappointing, asked for regular put two small ones in box, found out were loins, got home my normally lovely brown crispy battered fish was pale, soggy and definately undercooked, £10.40 i put one in the ninja to crisp...

…..but I have to. They have changed what they cook in (strongly suspect palm oil) and the result is mediocre fish and chips at best, no different to what I could get anywhere else in Newcastle. Beautiful dark crisp batter is now pale and soggy...

Went for fish and chips at 2pm Thursday. Fish was cooked to order and served by really pleasant staff. The fish was large with delicious crispy batter and the chips were excellent. Probably the best fish and chips I've had.

The cod, chips and curry sauce I’ve just ate stunned me. Utterly, incomparably, and delightfully wonderful food. C-19 measures in plaice (geddit?).

Muy sorprendido de que el personal no tenga PPE. La chica sostenía mis papas fritas y me preguntaba si quería sal y vinagre y seguramente el aerosol de su boca puede entrar en la comida. Insistieron mucho en que mi esposa no entró porque dijeron que solo se permitieron 6, lo que entiendo completamente, pero no puede ser correcto estar hablando sobre la comida sin cubrirse la cara.

acabo de llamar por casualidad para un espacio de entrega esta noche después del día más horrible y estaba sobre la luna para conseguir uno. Llegó en 25 minutos si eso y la comida era simplemente irreal. Regular chips de bacalao, guisantes blandos y salsa tártara casera batida.Muchas gracias ?

Pedido el fin de semana pasado y recogido para 5. 30 hs. 2 x pescado y patatas fritas, salsa de curry, guisantes blandos y un panecillo.Las raciones eran enormes y el pescado tan fresco y tierno y todo llegó a casa caliente. Comida hermosa.Lo mejor para nosotros fueron los guisantes blandos, eran increíbles, nada como en ningún otro lugar que hayamos probado.Vuelvo pronto.

Llamé hoy para recoger nuestro pedido a las 5. A las 45 de la tarde, había cola a la hora de recoger nuestra comida, pero el distanciamiento social estaba bien organizado.El personal está haciendo un gran trabajo en estos momentos difíciles.Los guisantes blandos de pescado y patatas fritas eran la mejor comida deliciosa y caliente del encierro.Gracias barra de pescado Fenham.

I managed to have the best fish and chips on good Friday DURING A PANDEMIC thanks to Fenham Fish Bar!! How amazing is that! The staff are working harder to ensure the best sevice and standards have not slipped. The portion size is and always has been very generous and the price in comparison to portion size is amazing! Its my mams birthday on 21st May so will definately be treating her to the best fish and chips around! Thank you to all the staff xx

Specifically came onto trip advisor to write fenham fish bar a review they deserve after seeing ridiculous ones they have been posting on facebook. Myself and my family have been visiting fenham fish bar for a number of years and we love it so much it is the only fish shop we will go to. Food is amazing quality, MASSIVE portions (we share) and staff are coping extremely well under the circumstances! I think people need to cut them some slack and realise under the current climate you may wait longer for food (as you are everywhere at the moment) and staff may not be giving you excellent customer service. That is probably because they are stressed as they are literally risking the lives of themselves and their families coming into work and contact with others so you can have your weekly fish and chips! My family have ordered twice since lockdown and it has been difficult to get through but we managed too and it was worth the wait! Please be more considerate of others and their feelings in these hard times and support small local businesses!

I drive past two other fish shops to come to Fenham Fish Bar. The portions are always a great size and they are lovely because they are cooked to order.

This chip shop was recommend by my son & his wife & I was amazed they were open during the Covid lockdown . We ordered a delivery & it arrived really quickly . I didn’t realize but they only accept cash & I only had £16 in cash on me so took my card with me thinking they might of had a card reader . The delivery guy was lovely & understanding & I said I’d ring & pay the balance . Trouble is the lines are always busy & it’s difficult to get through but so worth it when you do . They taste beautiful & it’s a really big portion too & they do real mushy peas . Thank you again & il pay the balance when I can get through on the line but I understand why your always busy . Lush food but cod and chips should now be called goldfish and chips. Prices are ridiculous & not one bit of customer service!! What happened to service with a smile? Never witnessed such a misirable work place.

I’ve reviewed before but I’ll review again as this relates to my experiences with Fenham Fish Bar during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Well done to all the staff for the amazing service in difficult times, doing your best to make sure people can have delicious fish and chips. Got a delivery in 20 minutes, hot and very friendly staff. Keep up the hood work. Phones busy which shows how much people appreciate the service your providing. Thank you for remaining open and doing as much as you can in the safest way possible.

We ordered our Good Friday fish and chips today to avoid the pandemonium of yesterday. We were not disappointed, quick to place order, delivery came on time and the food was fresh and delicious as usual - well done guys/girls for keeping us fed.

Ordered haddock and chips and mushy peas for me and the wife, the staff were brilliant on the phone, food was delivered with in half hour, it was piping hot and delicious as it always is, Brilliant staff and lush food.

We were so lucky to be allocated a slot for today - Good Friday as the phone lines were jammed for prebooking due to social distancing measures....

Fenham Fish Bar has and always will be Number 1 for fish and chips in Newcastle in my eyes! Never have any issues, normally very fast service and great quality food well worth the price.

Being a fairly regular visitor to Fenham Fish Bar, as in my opinion it's one of the best, if not the best, chippy in Newcastle, I tried their delivery service today. Was not disappointed. The food was delivered within half an hour of me telephoning the order in and was still piping hot when it arrived! I ordered two regular cod, one with chips and the other with a portion of mushy peas, all was cooked to perfection and each portion of fish came with one big fish and a smaller piece. Delicious!

The fish was freshly cooked in a delicious, lightly, fluffy and crispy batter. The chips were chunky, well cooked and beautifully hot, ouch, watch out fingers!! We would highly recommend this takeaway and will be back, yum yum.

First time back since reopening. A bit more space indoors for the usuallong queue and an extensive menu. Orderand pay as you enter. Note that they sell a range of extras eg garlic mayo. Also brownies though I dont know how you'd fit them in after fish and chips! We just bought cod and chips and they were truly excellent. Staff incredibly efficient and friendly, keeping the queue on the move quickly.

This is the only fish shop iv been to were soon as you walk in you can tell the management have huge pride in their work how clean it is efficient ordering cooked fresh always adding different items to menu from battered Turkey rolls 4 xmas special homemade sauces and sweets that will have u at weight watchers within a month ! The tarture sauce is like nothing iv tasted before the sweets are amazing they haveva Instagram page and Facebook love seeing the food they are serving and specials very tempting soon as I'm back from tenerife I'm gunna indulge and order scampi and fish and Turkey roll if I ever owned a restaurant this is how it should be run il be back !

Es la primera vez que yo y mi otra mitad hemos estado. El servicio fue increíblemente amable. Muy rápido para ser servido, las patatas fritas eran fantásticas. La recomendación para su nueva salsa de curry "picante" fue excelente y, como dijo la señora, es exuberante. Definitivamente estoy de acuerdo.

Out of all of the fish and chip shops in the area this one is hands down the most tasty and clean out of them all , would definitely recommend.
