First time trying here and the food was excellent. The fish was enormous with beautiful batter and was cooked perfectly. The chips were the best we’ve had in a long time. The staff were polite and service was quick.

The chips are either excellent or good. This chilly is always above average for a good price.

Been a while since I visited this chippy. Have to say I was a bit disappointed. The cod fillet was very thin and the chips weren't great. Such a shame.

Good Friday ordered cod, don't know what it was but certainly wasn't cod, terrible strong taste. I go in every week so know the difference. Very disappointed but the dogs enjoyed it.

Decided to drive the 6 mile to Gormans Westerhope today for a rare treat of fish n chips. The fish was so thin and covered in burnt batter, or old oil!! Chips were cold pale and green, curry sauce was like water.we put it straight in the bin. . What in earth has happened it used to be so nice. .thats why we used to travel all the way there.. Never had such terrible fish n chips so disappointed 😕😕

Delivery is 1 hour late,,, can't rate the food as not had it yet... Not a good start.. Just got delivery and chips are cold.. Not nice at all.... Would definitely not recommend the fish and chips

The woman serving was quite abrupt, asked for 2 Childs cod bits n chips 2 fish n chips but only got 1 fish n chips and the 2 children's bits n chips, very poor service, normally a good service

Sat here wondering what will come first a full blown heart attack or savage food poisoning... the place has went so down hill its a joke, WAS my favourite chippy for a very long time. To start NO staff wore gloves, masks, aprons, or hair nets but do manage to wear jewellery, hair down and nail polish? Hygiene and health and safety regulations seem to have went out the window just like my dinner. Ordered my food and the lady who served me decided to use her gloveless hands to push the battered sausage in the bag THEN, proceeded to LICK THE GREASE OFF HER FINGERS?! RIP to the poor buggar who was served after me... The chips were just about warm and an unappealing mixture of dark brown and green, not to mention dry as a piece of carpet. Was tempted to give my contaminated battered sausage a good old ring out there was that much grease in it. Staff are much more focused on gossiping and shouting to each other than making an effort with the customers and the food quality, no surprise really. Would give zero stars if i could, yous need reported to the food standards agency before yous make someone seriously ill. Worst experience ever.

The worse fish and chips, I've had in years. The cod was thinly sliced, across the fillet. At £10.40 I expect better.

Everytime l visit Mum l have to call into Gormans , l am never disappointed. I live in the south and they can't do fish and chips even if their lives depended on it. To come to Gormans is a delight the fish is perfection . The Staff are courteous , and quick to deliver the most delicious fish and chips. Thank you Gormans.

This used to be my go to "Chippy" but I go elsewhere now, as I used to go there because it was it was five minutes walk away, but I've went off the food there, but most of the food is cooked to order, but lately when I've been getting food, specially the chips there either rock hard in the middle or slightly under cooked, and takes ages to wait for cooked to order food, but I can't complain about that, but now the prices are way over the top, what you would pay for two meals of fish and chips and gravy, you could buy a decent Chinese take away for less, I don't know why they put the prices up when the quality of the good has dropped below average in my opinion, but that's all it is, is my opinion, people might like there chips under cooked and might like waiting around, there fish used to be just above average, now I think it's just below, but as I said this is just my opinion & to sum it up, far to expensive for what you get, I'd prefer to go to even cedar roads chippy and get the same thing for probably half the price and the chips are cooked properly and not huge uncooked chunks of spud.

I like the fish and chips, but the attitude of that lady on Friday 18/12 unacceptable. The special menu is even confusing for staff. If you don’t understand the order ask again next time.

Having found a long, blonde hair in my cod bites I couldn't eat them, and it wasn't the first time either. VERY disappointing :( Also, having bought two portions of cod bites and chips there were hardly any chips in!!! I've been a regular customer for years but I'm afraid I'll be going elsewhere as I think standard have dropped considerably and the portion sizes have shrunk. Not a good value for money!

I called yesterday (18th August) and was told this store does gluten free fish which would be in rice flour. Given my diet, I require gluten free so was really pleased that somewhere so local would be able to do gluten free fish and chips for me. However, when we went to order it today we were told they don't do gluten free. If we were told the correct information in the first place, we would have gone elsewhere where I could have had tea alongside everyone else. I'm so mad that we were misinformed, and I checked and it was definitely the Westerhope store I called. Definitely know to avoid them and go to Fenham fish bar in future.

Always good. I've grown up going to Gormans for my fish and chips. Although the branch in Westerhope village isn't there any more it still remains the same quality. Good value for money too.

Worst I have had chips n sausage waste of money

Worst chippy ever. Had seriously over cooked smokey and some chips were undercooked and gravy was tasteless goop. Sat like a brick on my tum for hours would not be surprised if I got the runs !

Went on Good Friday. 45 minute wait, which wasn't too bad. Only issue was smaller portions than usual, probably due to trying to get as many people served as possible in as short a time as possible. Fish and chips still 5 stars, though.

Just had fish and chips from here, usually ok but these were horrible. Fish was overcooked and dry, seems to me it was probably left over from lunch and recooked, truly awful and for this rubbish we were charged £7.60 each. Won't be back.
